Everybody riffs on the sound of the flat 4s. I think the 2.5 in particular is one of THE beefiest sounding 4s I have ever heard. Stop trying to compare it to the flat 6. It is it's own animal. I frankly like the gutteral growl. It sounds tough to me.
I have owned mine for a year and love it. It is fun to drive. The driving experience is fantastic and complaining about the sound is just finding things to complain about.
Ben, your review is rather funky, you clearly had preconceived notions. I had a 05 Boxster S for 15 years and now have a 981 Spyder. Yeah, $29k options, but it’s gone up $20k in appreciation. These sport cars are the best under $100K.
IMO a flat four doesn't generally sound bad. THe Porsche could perhaps used a different muffler to deepen the sound so it was more of a rumble and less of the popping sounds, but this is an area that's really personal preference. I've never been a fan of the high revving sounds. Higher power bands makes the car feel like it lacks guts.
Depends what you buy if you buy reliable cars like a Volkswagen jetta, Toyota Camry, or Honda civic then it’s gonna possibly go three times that if you take great care of it otherwise yeah anything American or luxury but not including Lexus then yeah I would sell at 100000. Also only American v8’s last long but that’s because there beefed up and built tough.
The PDK may be a bit "clunky" at very low speeds (though in a very minor way), but the beauty of PDK is the speed and seamlessness of shifts at speed. An auto does not come close to this performance.
The PDK is unrefined? WTF!? It’s the most refined transmission in the world. I agree with a previous comment that you have preconceived ideas. I will watch pretty much any review on the 718. This was not one of the best. And, that doesn’t mean you have to praise everything about the vehicle, but your review was off. Also, to say that it is overpriced is fallacious. The only thing comparable is the Corvette, and it is not the same in regard to the way that it handles and feels.
Well, I own a 718 GTS 2.5, driven a lot of 718 thru the years. So I agree. PDK do have some enoying jerkyness driving around town. And I think its NOT suitiable for a transmisson everybody praise so much. It isnt ok.
In Europe the Boxter is just 60k eur, which is 65k USD. A bargain. Put on exterior and interior cosmetics and premium items and you got yourself a great artwork of a car for 80k eur. Interesting point about the sound of the engine, thats definitely a factor for cabriolets, you want to hear a nice engine sound when driving with the top down.
Where do you live in Europe? i am in europe and a simple Boxster starts at 69k eur. A Boxster S starts at 79k eur…For 80k you just buy a poorly equiped car…
I would agree with "this engine does not sound good at all" statement lol.. And if you want the flat 6, the GTS version has a really limited options. Really low value. I'm guessing Porsche want you to get a 911 instead.
the 718 is the better platform and nobody wants to acknowledge it. 718 is the future of porsche, not 911. Real 2 seater with mid engine and sleeker design. I'll take an older 911 over a 718 but if were talking about new porsches the 718 is the way to go.
He really is a nobber,,, I put catclean in mine to keep that lovely sport exhaust clean n loud,,, never ever have stereo on, everybody comments on how lovely it sounds
I have liked your channel since getting my 20 raptor, your channel was and still is entertaining and helpful for trucks. But you have no problem spending 80-90 for a truck, and in the sports car 2 seat convertible world there aren’t a lot of performance choices as I’m sure you know more than I would. You did hit some key points, but the PDK trans is the benchmark for this type of transmission, like you said the old tiptronic, not so much. You nailed that one! Anyway, you are correct the GTS Boxster or Cayman is the way to go but the Boxster S is still a great sports car for a bit less money then GTS and a bit more than base. Start adding options to either one and yes it does get crazy. Keep up the good work though!
U have No clue what you speak of! Different engine makes different sound, Its Different so why compare, I own Both 982 S & a 981 S. They R just different cars. The 982 is a much better handling & way faster & easier to tune, I love them both but very different cars
You obviously only have a cursory knowledge of this car. You don’t know why the gas’s filler is where it’s at, don’t know the wheel option is, no technical data or what options are on the car. The macan has a pdk. Just the cayenne is triptronic. Very surface info in the video. Lots of cliches, no comparison to like cars. Only thing that kept me watching was the gorgeous agate grey boxster. Won’t be viewing any more videos.
WOW!!!!!!! a porsche swimming in oil like a food blender, owner should be charged with neglect,, stop driving that car and dump a couple pints of oil man

My Macan S, registered and driven in GB, has the PDK transmission.

Is 100k the new car average? Cause everything seems like its 100k now car wise

the washer fluid is in the front trunk, in the rear it is the oil and engine coolant.

Love this car 👌😎🏁

I think it's good that they haven't changed much, because I think that's when reliability kicks in.
Dodge Journey has entered the chat
I’m not that big of a Porsche person but I definitely dig the red interior and bc it’s a convertible (lol).
For a few $K more you can have a 911. Porsche, there is no substitute. Well done Ben. 😎

911's are significantly more expensive than Boxster/Cayman lines!
Maybe but the boxter s is faster and better handling
Yeah it sounds like a Subaru. I like it.
Opens valves in 5th gear at 38mph “still quiet”
He really is a nobber,,, I put catclean in mine to keep that lovely sport exhaust clean n loud,,, never ever have stereo on, everybody comments on how lovely it sounds
I'm with u Ben I couldn't justify spending nearly 100k for a boxer love the color combo but at the end of the day its still a boxer
Should’ve been around 60-80k 😅
And that`s bad because?
Perhaps you could not show your ignorance, it’s not a ‘boxer’. Kid, do you even have a drivers license?
Yes the Boxster is too expensive… so buy a MX-5 Miata !
the 718 is the better platform sorry to say.

This told me nothing and I actually found this review to be irritating - folks that own Porsches should find this review very lacking....
Yeah I agree with you 100% way too much money for what it is

Please procurance PORSCHE properly!
