We give credit to Greg from Campedia for the idea to hard mount our starlink to give us the ability to have internet while driving around Australia.
We show how we have done it, if it works and reel time speeds.
Thanks again for watching and please help us if you have not yet subscribed, to subscribe to our honest channel. Give a thumbs pop if you enjoyed this episode.

I’m glad someone finally put a video of not having to cut the dishy open to flat Mount it. Driving with Starlink is a great thing.
This solution will help many residential people that take their style link with them when they travel now becomes better and different ways of mounting dishy to their caravans or canopies. Thank you for sharing.
Just on another note, you mentioned about installing a GPO in your tunnel boot area. Please make sure this is not a generic Bunnings product but a proper double poll GPO 👍🍺👍

This mounting solution is brilliant! I had been considering numerous methods, ranging from pole mounts to flat mounts from outback comms, but none of them provided the answer of being usable while in transit and still adjustable for situations involving tree coverage. Cheers guys!

I'm surprised you haven't had "the email" where it tells you quite clearly that mobile Starlink is now off the table for the permanent resident subscriptions and because they can see you are mobile pulling and sending data, they will turn you off if you persist. No mention on this mid week video and am really surprised. Did you not as they say, get the memo?
So basically you can have a mobile plan but it is not a traveling mobile plan. Starlink have come u with a u-beaut money spinner where you have to pay big bucks to be able to move while "interneting." Maybe UA-camrs are getting a hall pass for this. Happy travels guys, I am so, so envious, lot's of memories to keep and retell fit for a lifetime.

Keep in mind that caravans and canopies are basically big metal cages which means that the signal strength and therefore available data speed of the wifi router will be reduced if it has to go through metal walls (faraday cage effect) like the tunnel boot, etc....the router will perform better if it is in the actual van living and computer working space.
I like the idea of the dish mount by keeping the original cross feet mount rather than a flat dish mount, but I would be concerned about the wind force while driving, on the dish to mount connection.......but it obviously has not been an issue for you.

Hey guys.. just heads up the base is apparently a little suspectiible to cracking on those mount points ur using.. watch out they don't break off...
Also, we use a bit of foam to stuff in the boat bung while cable is in to stop bugs, dust, etc.

Seems like the comments and what I see on the web are suggesting you might end up paying more than double monthly plus the hardware cost if you want to continue using on the move.
Probably force you to go back to being stationary for Sue’s workday.

  • @BrendanSpeet

Check your reception before putting it in the tunnel boot you have to get the signal through your tool box. My preference is to run it off an inverter in the canopy have the wifi unit closer to you.

Hey guys… the “Roam” plan simply means that you can travel with it and set it up when stopped. The “mobility” plan has a larger flat dish that is Au$3700 and $399 a month.
Now that it is becoming available in Australia, expect more people trying to use the Roam pack (used to called RV) while moving to get disconnected. (They actually cover this in the terms of use)

road tripping in outback is the most unforgiving when it comes to telecommunication. you can come across camping hike for 4days totally disconected to the world. id rather drive across america than aus. starlink would be the best option to have in the outback. glad to know that it works even while driving. 15mbps at a fck no where land is a game changer

It’s happening here. I’m on a couple of local Australian StarLink user pages and people have had their service cancelled if the dish is moving faster than 10mph while in use… (yes, Americans… so miles per hour) it does seem to mainly be people that have modified their dish for flat use.

    • @justvanningit

  • @johncumberland2762
    @johncumberland2762 Рік тому +2

Whatever anyone takes from this video do not mount your dish as this has been done for mobile use. Firstly the mount that is supplied with the dish is not designed for this use. Not even for static use such as on a house roof and Spacex has stated that. If something should happen and that dish becomes loose and comes of and someone is injured or god forbid killed you would be up the creek without a paddle and would not have enough money for civil compensation if you managed to avoid life courtesy of the Govt. I can’t believe someone would even consider putting this out as advice for the public.
