This is insane tech. Pretty soon everyone will have one of these and people will be IRL streaming from everywhere, sharing their favourite destinations with the rest of the planet! Incredible! Great review mate, nicely done.
Got mine last Wednesday to replace my gen 2 on trips. Have a PD100 USB C to barrel and a ugreen cig to 120w USB C running it in the car. Black Matt vinyl wrap on the front of the dish and lay it on the dashboard. Gets 170Mbs at 110kmh no dramas. Also runs for about 3-4hrs on an anker 737 power bank. Well impressed. 😉 Tried a female to female barrel adapter to join the PD USB-C to the Starlink cable to keep the waterproof rating but voltage drop with the powerbank is too great to run it sustained. Keeps randomly rebooting when the watts get over 40w for long even though the powerbank can do 140w output. Will try with my 12 volt system and the ugreen cig and see if that’s a winner otherwise may have to wait for the official Starlink USB-C cable but for now it’s working brilliantly.
Great to see one tested in Australia. 163 mp, " pretty good". I don't know about you, but I only get 40 odd at home off the stupid nbs. 163 is not " pretty good", it is bloody good.
Sounds great mate I’m in Queensland where can I buy star link mini ? How much was it? Does it come with a giant 12 V system where I just plug it in to a 12 V outlet.? I have also seen a better poll stand to go on the mini from an American UA-cam channel provider Paul E
Great review , would love to see the power consumption from boot up to it at a constant on your Gen 2 just to see if you could do without a DC connection for a while
Can U do a test and leave it in the sun for some time. Cause I heard they over heat, and being in Australia the sun is relentless. So would be great to see if it possible to permanently mount without it over heating
I can't understand why in Australia, we are so limited with upload speeds whether with NBN, Mobile or Starlink. In Thailand, they get in excess of 400 up. Even Starlink at 10 to 30 up just doesn't cut it for reliable remote streaming.
Looks great thanks for sharing mate definitely worth thinking about in the future it will be interesting what Amazon do with their product hopefully competition helps with pricing I have gen 1 ($174 per month is steep only use when travelling) how much data are you aloud for $80 a month definitely worth considering 👍
50GB/mo of Mobile data with portable or in-motion use 50GB = 20+ hours estimated of high definition video streaming Only available with Starlink Mini Coverage: Continent, Inland Pay for additional Mobile data by GB in your app Features: Pause Services Note: If you exceed the allotted data on your Mini Roam plan and have not opted in to additional Mobile data, you will be unable to access the internet except to access your Starlink account.
Thanks, so it seems the older roaming plans with the larger dish are better if going away on longer trips where data would likelyexceed the 50gb. The mini seems to be targeted at a niche where portability is a premium. That will likely change in a year or two. We have run starlink as home internet for a couple of years now (the original round dish is still going) but are looking to start some travel and remote working on the road.
From what I read, when powering the Starlink Mini via a USB-C connection, the negotiated voltage is actually 20V. PD of the USB-C should be 100W (ie 20V x 5A). Whilst the Mini can run on 12V, it must be stable & not fall below ~11.8V
Hi, I just collected mine and wanted to run it off 12v in my RV . Dropped in to Jaycar they said can’t be done but the guy in the advert for these has a backpack on …how does this work in Australia?
How so ? Have you had this happen ? Max would be about 56amps, you could easily upgrade your alternator from a standard 150 to 220 if you’re running multiple accessories. This is always recommended when running lots of loads from DC system. With this unit but I believe it will be fine at around 56amps for the average person not running other accessories in the vehicle.
I thought you could just put this on the roof of the caravan and drive with it and still have good internet connection. Wait you can get 163 download, I only get 50 on my NBN plan, on a fixed connection in my house.
Really annoyed that Starlink has just upped the monthly subscription to $195 with in-motion so you’re stuck with paying more even though you can’t mount the standard unit.
Note: STARLINK MINI needs 100W-20V-5A USBC outlet to power on.

Thanks for watching !
Great to see an Aussie review. Impressive speeds. Thanks!
Thanks for watching !
Just did a test with my land line NBN 34.4Mbps, 160Mbps odd is bloody amazing. Thanks for the review and the time taken to share this ;)
Starlink is the best option right now mate ! If you decide to purchase use my link in description for 1 month free.

Thank Tony Abbott for that.
Nice little unit
The dish flat mounted on ya ranger
Does that need alignment as well or do ya park any orientation and it still works ?
I get 947/47 nbn peak times and its cheaper then this.. obviously its not roaming but sucks if your getting 40

Tech today….pretty cool. Thanks for the vid. Well done brother looking forward to the battery review in car charge.
It’s very cool gear mate ! Thanks for watching
Nice review Guys - Reach out if you need any local support on your Star Mount Items
Thank you for the video. When you place the dish on the roof of the car, can you receive signal inside the van?
that's great to here plus I have got the delta 2 max for my jeep and alu cab setup and will be getting the starlink for my global expedition
Great review , would love to see the power consumption from boot up to it at a constant on your Gen 2 just to see if you could do without a DC connection for a while
wonder what gaming on the mini be possible i got the gen 2 and good but mini be nice as uses less power

Il give it a run see how we go

Fantastic Ty thanks for sharing this amazing information about Starlink 👍
Thanks for watching Terry 😎👍🏼
Great video. so can i just plug that usb c straight into an outlet on my caravan or vehicle ?
As long as the usbc port can provide 2amps - 60 watts just the same as the 240v dc specs. I think it was 30v 2A 60W
Would have been nice to let us know how you got it so soon, and from where... everyplace I can find online says more than 2weeks wait still.
I ordered it online from Starlink as soon as it was available.
Thanks for sharing.
What plan are you on if you don’t mind me asking?
I’m looking to buy a star link mini soon.
There is only 1 plan $80 a month at the moment
Does it work in cloudy conditions
Yep sure does, any weather conditions.
Do you need another plan to run Mini? Or can you use old account to run mini?
You can buy it on your existing account
What was the story with the plans? Is the mini limited to 50gb of data with additional fees above that?
50GB/mo of Mobile data with portable or in-motion use
50GB = 20+ hours estimated of high definition video streaming
Only available with Starlink Mini
Coverage: Continent, Inland
Pay for additional Mobile data by GB in your app

Yes correct ! You must have the correct cable 👍🏼
Can you confirm that the mini is available now in OZ and $$ and where retail outlets
Buy it directly from links 🔗 in description
Did you check the power consumption from the battery?
I’d need to do a longer test but it uses next to nothing.
Freaking awesome!
Thanks for watching
Pretty sick that they've built the router into the actual Starlink Mini and it still looks that small
if I want to power it from my secondary 12v battery, is there a powersupply I would need to put between the starlink and the battery?
Run it over USBC. Cable linked in description
Hi, I just collected mine and wanted to run it off 12v in my RV . Dropped in to Jaycar they said can’t be done but the guy in the advert for these has a backpack on …how does this work in Australia?
Links to the correct cable are in my description.
I see you have an ecoflow DC-DC charger, carry a spare alternator & the tools to change when it frys!

Yeah you could do that with correct mounting options.
Really annoyed that Starlink has just upped the monthly subscription to $195 with in-motion so you’re stuck with paying more even though you can’t mount the standard unit.
What song was playing in the video?
💓
That’s AC power supply… not DC.
Remove the brick it's then DC. The eco flow has a direct DC barrel port.
Novice here, how is this installed in a caravan? Who would do this auto electrician?
Any auto electrician could install it however it’s very basic to use. I’d suggest just keeping it in its original form so it portable
👍🇭🇲🍺❤️
Thanks for watching mate 🍺
