      Actually, I would love to have seen Manuel & Allison Schmidt go at it. Both were so strong, & flawless in the form, it would have been classic. No way to know who would have won, but it would have been a scorcher. ----------Dana Vollmer wins for us every time. Totally dependable & unbeatable. -------------WolfSky9, 71 y/o

      Who has the world record? Case closed. When Manuel can say she's done 51.7 (which she hasn't even come close -- not even with half a second), then it's a different story.

    • @allielondon5756

      tenningale, We're talking beauty and poetry. And it's poetic justice as well that a black girl literally brought home Olympic gold since it hasn't been that long since it was "ILLEGAL" for black people to swim in many public pools in the USA! Heck, even as recently as a couple of years ago a black child was ARRESTED for swimming in a pool that crazy white people objected to and called police! The girl can be seen on youtube crying for her Mommy to help her as she's being mauled and arrested by a demonic "policeman! A judge should make that evil "arresting officer" and the satanic racist "citizens" who called him watch Simone Manuel's beautiful, angelic Olympic performances over and over and over again.

    I don’t think Cate Campbell from Australia is getting enough credit in the comments. She made Australia go from 6th place to winning silver. You can see how she was almost 3 body lengths behind Manuel and towards the end shortened that lead significantly!👏🏻

    I love how genuinely happy and excited each team is for those who medal. One thing about the Olympics that often gets overlooked is that these athletes spend weeks together in the Olympic Village getting to know one another, and when it comes time to compete, you can see how they are sincerely thrilled for each other's success. It's something that we really only see in the Olympic Games, and it's truly a remarkable sight to behold.

    Happy to see Denmark finally gets an Olympic Medal, especially the four who has yet to win a medal especially Nielsen, Pedersen, Ottesen, and Blume, I was cheering on them for a medal, and keep an eye on their race, so joyful to see them get on the medal podium with the bronze after failing to medal in London 2012, where they finished 7th after qualified third for the London Olympics final.

    • @jinguanshengtu
      @jinguanshengtu 8 років тому +39

      yes, the 2012 team is stronger at every stroke, with a WR or OR under each of their names, and set a medley relay WR. Missy Franklin's backstroke made the most difference here, she was the last 'female Phelps' in London, while Baker is only a bronze medalist in Rio.

    • @Ilovemunchlax1
      @Ilovemunchlax1 8 років тому +27

      Baker is a silver medalist and king and manuel were gold medalists along with dana. Problem was king was really slow for some reason and dana who had the world record in 2012 has slowed down with age

    • @jinguanshengtu

      That's true though, King seemed not properly briefed on to do medley relay, maybe the 19-year-old should visit Rebecca Soni for some technical advice.

      you lean and it depends on the stroke, if you're doing back then you turn onto your stomach, put one arm out (which you will use to give the momentum and strength to pull yourself over quickly) then dolphin kick on you're back to your side and front all in a matter of seconds.

    • @misina211
      @misina211 8 років тому +25

      Simone's a sprint freestyler, so her program wasn't that heavy: three rounds of the 50m and 100m freestyle each, and the 4x100m freestyle and medley relays, where she only needed to swim in the finals. She logged a total of 550m swimming in Rio, spread out over a week. A relatively light program compared to others, but a highly successful one with two golds and two silvers.

    • @Taedjaire
      @Taedjaire 8 років тому +30

      as an NCAA swimmer who had been training heavily months before most of these girls yes she did have a heavy load. Im pretty sure after rio she was beat down. you must not be a college swimmer because it isnt hard to understand it

    • @misina211
      @misina211 8 років тому +3

      Love But all swimmers taper their training for the Olympics so that they come into the competition fresh. Training year-round for NCAA swimmers is probably equal to the year-round training a pro swimmer would have done in the year leading up to the Olympics, so there's no disadvantage either way. And unless you're injured, year-round, rigorous non-impact training, such as swimming, will actually be a benefit to the athlete the more they train, as it increases their aerobic base. I'm not criticizing Simone Manuel by the way, even though you clearly read it that way. I was merely pointing out that her swim load in Rio as a sprinter is considerably less of a distance total than a swimmer like Katie Ledecky, who obviously swims the gamut of freestyle races from 200m-800m in addition to the relays.

      @@dickersonr6172 No it's because she was literally going so fast that everyone knew she already won and the Australia was literally going from 7th to 2nd on the last 100 meters so that was an exciting silver race too.

    Denmark's Mie Nielsen, Russia's Yulia Efimova, USA's Dana Vollmer and Australia's Cate Campbell were the most impressive swimmers of this relay. Probably Efimova was the most impressive as she was at least 0.72 faster than everyone on the breaststroke.

    If it were up to the first 2 swimmers of the US team, they wouldn't have won. Thankfully Vollmer who was part of the golden team in 2012 that broke the world record timings turned that around for the last swimmer to follow through smoothly. Excited for the '21 Olympics happening in a few month's time..

      ?! Marko Jay, it was just a couple of years ago that a black child was ARRESTED by "police" after racist "citizens" called police to complain about black people swimming in a public pool!The girl can be seen on youtube calling and crying for her MOMMY as she's being manhandled and arrested by a demonic policeman at the behest of the satanic "citizens" who'd called them! And it was also ILLEGAL for black people to swim in public pools that their own taxes helped pay for a mere couple of generations ago!

      John Deere, You are right. It IS special. A mere couple of years ago a black girl was literally ARRESTED for swimming in a pool in the USA.Demonically racist "citizens" had called police! And you can see the girl on youtube calling and crying for her Mommy as the satanic "policeman" manhandles and "arrests" her! And it was a mere couple of generations ago that it was ILLEGAL for black people to swim in public pools even though black people's taxes had helped PAY for them! Shaking my head.

      ?! Marko Jay, Simone Manuel had JUST swum in another event and was exhausted. She was called upon to bring home the last leg, the most dramatic leg in an Olympic relay race. That was pressure, and she did not disappoint. It was also just a couple of years ago that a black child was ARRESTED for swimming in a pool! Satanic white people had called police on her! And it was a mere couple of generations ago that it was ILLEGAL for black people to swim in U.S. pools even though their taxes helped PAY for them!
