I waffled back and forth between these two TVs for about a month, and Brian, your videos definitely helped inform my decision. Because I have a somewhat bright living room, I purchased the Bravia 7 thinking the mini LED's brightness would compensate for the ambient light in the room..... Well, 4 days later it went back in the box and back to BB. It was so bright it hurt my eyes -- tried every imaginable setting -- it was either way too bright or too muddy and dark, there was no middle ground. And the reflections must be addressed, they were absolutely terrible. Rainbow streaks from every light source. It was like there were 2 images on the screen -- the reflection of the room AND what was playing on the TV -- it made focusing on the TV content impossible. I exchanged for the Bravia 8 and couldn't be happier - its plenty bright for my space during the day and it looks even better in a dark room, and the OLED just looks overall better IMO. Just my personal experience, but the B7 wasn't a good fit for me.
We all have our fit man, thanks for sharing. I got the Bravia 7 too but I have owned Sony's for the past 15 years so I was able to calibrate it perfectly for both deep blacks, color, and bright highlights, mine is also in a basement so I don't need to worry about reflections. I was debating the B8 also but I use my TV as a computer monitor as well and so the risk of burn-in always pushes me away from OLED. None the less, I am loving the B7. 🥰 Sony killed it this year on all B series TV's.
Love this video! I’ve spent the entire shopping season contemplating between the 85” B7 and the 77” B8. I’m currently enjoying a 75” x90j that I think I’ll stick with for just a little bit longer, though. I would really like to see Sony fix their DV/VRR input “issue” first before investing in another one of their TV’s (I would have picked the B8). Cheers, everyone! Hope you all - especially you, Brian - have a wonderful holiday season.
Have a good Christmas Brian and the family. My pick is the larger b7 in this shoot out, I don't have any oleds in my home now mate , ( both the lg oleds are gone) extremely happy with my 2 mini led tvs . Keep up the good work buddy 👍
The Bravia 8 looks great to me, and I know it's a little bit brighter than last year's model. I was on the fence between the Bravia 7 and Bravia 8, but I wanted to get a feel for the Bravia 8, specifically for OLED. When I looked at the TVs in person at Best Buy, it looked beautiful , and I decided to order the Bravia 8, 65-inch, for my bedroom. Thank you so much for this video comparison.

@@BRIANSTECHTHERAPY maybe something low res or low bitrate to show the picture processing? I assume that is more important in real life than pristine perfect 4K
@jensuwe22 the differences between the two are evident. What your asking also would barely show up on camera. Both tv's have the same processing and would react to low bit the same.
This is so interesting! Very well done! Excellent! I prefer the Bravia 8. I do have one question: At the top of the video you listed the Bravia 8 as Sony’s best OLED. Do you think Bravia is superior to Sony’s QD-OLED, the A95L?
Hello my friend 😊 no I refer to it as the best Sony Oled for most people. The Sony QD-OLEDS which are are the Sony A95K and A95L are superior in every way.
@@TheGrimy1One Hi I have the 65 inch. Too dim? That’s odd, if anything it’s too bright at times, I turn down the brightness a little bit. I find the B7 great in almost everything except the viewing angles. Luckily my b7 is mounted on a swivel on the wall and I can tilt the tv when I need to view it from an angle. 🙏
@ yea, lots of people were saying they are dim. Maybe in Dolby vision? But that’s awesome. I think i may make the switch. The X90L is really a great TV for the money. I have the 85”. However, feel like I’m selling myself short a bit if i can upgrade before my return window is up.
But that's not surprising, because human eyes cannot see pure black on our own. If we are in a room, no windows, velvet on walls, no lights, we will still not see black. The body temperature alone is enough for our eyes to only see a dark grey. That's one of the biggest reasons why OLED looks unnatural in all content. This level of pure black is wanted by many though.
Brian in your future television reviews, could you please include a section on over the air broadcast? I’m curious to know if there’s a significant difference between watching a live football game over the air and streaming it on UA-cam.
The Bravia 7 & 9 Look more realistic in every scene except for outer space because the mini LEDs always have a little light bleed, just like the world world there’s always ambient lights somewhere. Nothing is pitch black other than space.
Hi Brian. When you’re playing things from Jennifer, Gala or other sources, what external device do you use? I’m one of those people that’s having problems with my Bravia 8 and the internal apps having stutter. I don’t really like the Roku once I’m wondering if there’s something better that you use.?
Brian, thanks so much for video. I just wish Sony made a 83” B8, so I’m considering a C4 which comes in that size. How would you rank a 85” B9, 85” B7, and a 83” C4? Thanks!
Thank Brian...This is for both you and Brian. A system is as strong as its weakest link. Correct! I moved from one condominium with Comcast our provider and they used Fiber Optic. To another condominium in Vero Beach Florida and it is Xfinity and they use coaxial copper cable foe the transmission. The TV is the Sam Samsung we used in our former residence. However the picture quality is much better and it is as if we brought a new TV. Both I an my wife were perplexed. I remember 30 years ago when CD transports came out with fiber optic connections to the DAC. I tried it several times and noticed a lack of body and unrefined separation of the instruments and vocals lighter in perspectives. I went back and forth and could not understand because the Transport manufacturer said the Fiber Optic was better? No it was not. So since a system is as strong as its weakest link are consumers like ourselves being misled using fiber optics oriented service providers? I swear!! the TV is so much better even my wife noticed it right away. Thanks for all of your remarkable work and we appreciate you guys. Waiting for the CES review form you guys then making my final life's decision. Brian blew me away with the 115 TLC and now am considering it $16,999. I can take a loan ot buy it. Please second the review and let us know. The Samsung S95D in 77 inch.
Hey Buddy When you go to CES, can you please ask LG how many dimming zones and how many nits bright their 2025 QNED90 EVO Mini LED will have? Thanks ❤🔥
Do you, guys, think the 2025 hisense u8 is going to be a big or minor upgrade from 2024 model? Im thinking about getting the 2024 model, but afraid that i dont wait a few months a 2025 model has way bettet blacks or something loke that.
Great back and forth. In most scenes they look almost identical, some darker scenes the B8 pulls ahead and some brighter scenes with B7 pulls ahead. Ultimately I am gonna go with the B7 as I also use my TV as a computer monitor and OLED burn in is too much of a risk doing this.
I'm fan of going as big as you can fit comfortably in a space and in this case, there is minimal overall sacrifices by going Bravia 7 imo to gain 33% larger viewing area for about the same price. This is a noticeable difference in a room that can fit a 75" tv. Many people have brighter living rooms with windows and watch sports would also be positives with going with the Bravia 7. It's a more "flexible" tv to have in a larger shared space. However for a smaller room, where it might be more a personal setup the 65" Bravia 8 could be a great option as most rooms don't have larger windows.
No. I still have the same TV in my living room and also have a brand new $20,000 TV in my theater room. Unless you have money burning a hole in your pocket, I'd only upgrade if you were going to larger size or something significantly more refined like an A95L. Or if you're in a bright room an 85" Bravia 9 is a great TV. If you're truly committed to OLED then the LG G4 83" will be a nice upgrade. (I've had all of these TV's to compare and they're all great TV's).
Agree. I also have the 77" A80J in my living room as well as the 65" Bravia 8 in my bedroom and I can say that the A80J beats the Bravia 8 in every aspect. I tested out the W95A and S90C in my bedroom before settling on the Bravia 8 and to me the 8 beats both of those TV's.
Having been a Sony guy for years, I have coverted to QD OLED. The problem with Sony is adding a matching sound system is pricey. Bars and Quad are not competative with Samsung and others. IMHO 77" S90D with HW Q 990D sound bar is a sweet spot for a full audio visual system.
Because oled's can't do whites & always have a blue hue, it's so evident Like the glass (which is glass & should be clear) yet on oleds it's blue, plz explain, lols...Anyway good VT
I don’t mean to be difficult. But it makes me a little crazy when comparisons are done with different size TVs. …says this while watching the video on a iPhone 😅
Brian, I truly love your content and the reviews, especially side by side comparisons. However, most content you compare is amazing stuff produced by Jenn Gala. All that is great, but I think it misses the mark for most users. Specifically, most people watch streaming content from Apple, Prime, Netflix, Max, Peacock, Paramount, etc. With that in mind, most of your comparisons (as much as I love them) have no real meaning for me. My ask is if you could do similar comparisons with streams from Apple, Prime, Netflix, etc. Content like "For all mankind" or "Silo" from Apple or streams from Netflix. I find that based on content mastering or creator intent, shadow detail can vary significantly. ...And small tweaks of brightness or black levels can render magic. But again, can you please do some comparisons of real streaming content??? Please???
l always found oled too dark compare to the reality in real life situation it s more vibrant because it s darker but not more realism during day in real life we see details everywhere in oled we see vibrant colors but lose some details in the background that we can see on the mini-led l prefer that it s only my taste and l am a gamer and l fear the burnin of the oled tv
I decided to go bigger. I’m regretting my decision. Now it’s going to cost me. Gotta rent a u haul to get it back to Best Buy to exchange and pay a buddy to help me move it. Again! Go oled. Or at least a glossy screen! The Matt is killing my soul.
Does the difference between MiniLED and OLED jump out at you when watching NON curated content, like Spears & Munsil, carefully chosen blu-ray scenes or specialized UA-cam channel? Not to sound too straight to the point or with an angry tone or anything, but I seem to be in the minority who don't actually care about reviews which present these scenes as any type of pros and cons. To me it seems illogical, but with that said, I do own a OLED, but for pixel response time reasons only (black smear). I noticed starry skies and details in dark environments would just disappear. Monitors handle this better because they allow you to adjust the pixel response time, this is not a thing on TV's (yet?).
I prefer the mini-led Bravia 7 is more brightness and more detail and the color look so natural god skin tone and I don't know why the Bravia 8 OLED look so blue is look dead is blue filter on the screen end dark
Bravia 8 clearly lacks true white and natural warm tone. Its just all over blueish tone and overcoloring everywhere. Singing song in the name of OLED appreciation for rest of secondary things can't hide the truth. Color is much accurate and natural on B7, winner.
@@eiksman At 25:19 does the camera explain all the strange blue spots in the flames on the Bravia 8? If it's Bravia 8 fault, it's probably a deal killer for me. On Bravia 7, the flames are a solid yellow.
The thing is LG C4 is slightly brighter and cheaper than BRAVIA 8, has comparable image processing and Samsung S90D trumps them both in brightness and color volume yet costs as much as a BRAVIA 7 at least for the 65"! The price of mini-LED isn't justified unless you're going for >77", even then I'll probably go for a Hisense U8N!
Im an oled guy but i really want an 85" u8n but im afraid is a big step back. Im from brazil and hisense and their tvs has just arrived here, all i know about thebu8n is throught youtive videos and they dont display the u8n on stores. Is it that good or is better take a 77" oled tv? Thank you for your time.
@@diego1294 Hi there! Since you're from Brazil, make sure that Hisense has U8N available for purchase as they often don't sell their flagship models outside of the US/China, and even then they use different panels for different sizes and regions. The 75" U8N actually uses an ADS-pro panel with lower native contrast ratio than the VA one in 65". OTOH the 85" although VA, has lower number of dimming zones than the smaller ones, strange right?
@achinism it is. But a normal procedure with tv brands. For example, here only the 55" samsung s90d is qdoled, all thr other sizes are woled. But have you seen thr 85" u8n in front of you. The less local dimming zones makes a lot of difference? If it is ill wait for the 2025 u8n or mahbe get a 77" c4. I loce oled, vut i wanted something bigger and cheaper, and here thats the 85" u8n that costas the same of a 65" oled here.
@@diego1294 I've only demoed the 65" U8N, so unfortunately can't help you there with the larger sizes. According to RTINGS, the 85" has 1296 zones down from 75"'s 2000 zones count which is a strange design choice - lower numbers of dimming zones spread across a larger surface is definitely gonna hurt its contrast! If deep blacks and specular highlights are your concerns, stay OLED and get the 77" C4, budget permitted of-course or get a demo of the 75" U8N and decide for yourself if you can live with its ADS panel. If you want something bigger TCL QM8 (2024) may be another option.
You're killin me bro. My BB return window ends today. Bought a 75" B7 for the wrong reasons...? Young kids in a sun lit living room space = MiniLED, right? Thinking the B8 is more my speed and now hinging this $2k+ decision on your eloquent side by side comparison and epert analysis. If it's the 8, I'll have roughly 2 hrs to take the 7 off the wall, pack it up, stuff it in the truck and get to Best Buy. Dont love the BB return window. Cosco was sold out. My 900e pooped the bed (won't power on) the day after cyber Monday. Odds. Let's go!
Do you like your B7? If so then it doesn’t matter what this video says. Comparing something you just purchased to other things is a recipe for disappointment. Just enjoy what you have and you can spend your TV comparison watching time for something more fun.
Nope. Don't like it. Looks washed. Upscaling is meh. Reflections are bad and the off axis angles are not good. Also, I can see the processor working behind the shot. It'll go in and out. Colors will pop behind a tiny flicker. I'm a professional designer with 25+ years experience. I know color. I understand contrast and image quality probably better than the average person. I calibrate my office/studio monitors to their absolute truest representation across many parameters so that when receive a file from a client I know exactly what it SHOULD look like. The B7 is not impressive at $1800 let alone $2400. I have young kids and didn't want to babysit the tv. BUT at $2200 for the 77" a80l it's a no brainer.
The darker blues monkey look at the beginning of this video is why iam keeping myself away from wrgb all this years , and the clearly washed out look of bravia 7 in the entire video is also clear ,, as clear as bravia 8 superior contrast ,,, but I also love the sound coming from the screen idea ; my God what the solution 🤔 thank god 2025 is coming with more qd-oled models .

Please???
Nice! I wanted this lol
l always found oled too dark compare to the reality in real life situation it s more vibrant because it s darker but not more realism during day in real life we see details everywhere in oled we see vibrant colors but lose some details in the background that we can see on the mini-led l prefer that it s only my taste and l am a gamer and l fear the burnin of the oled tv
Oled is way better in 3d depth. That alone speaks for the b8
I decided to go bigger. I’m regretting my decision. Now it’s going to cost me. Gotta rent a u haul to get it back to Best Buy to exchange and pay a buddy to help me move it. Again! Go oled. Or at least a glossy screen! The Matt is killing my soul.
The B8 eats the B7 lunch!!! For only a few hundred more bucks the B8 is so much better. Or get a Lg C4 instead. It is even better than the B8.
It is the camera my friend. Do not judge by youtube
Maybe your Display ist wrong🙋🏼
Me too bruh. Don't like the B8.
It's definitely blue out of the box on standard mode. Change it to professional mode and tweak a couple settings and it looks wonderful
@@eiksman At 25:19 does the camera explain all the strange blue spots in the flames on the Bravia 8? If it's Bravia 8 fault, it's probably a deal killer for me. On Bravia 7, the flames are a solid yellow.
Personally, I would stick with oled but get the 77 inch C4 and save $300.
The Bravia 7 all day long. Plus the true white on the Bravia 7
@@richardvacanti9428 Agreed 👍
agreed!
I have the Bravia 7 I don’t like it I would prefer an oled any day
A lot of people watch sdr movies and shows. I have Netflix regular plan which is sdr
The Bravia 7 looks like a projector in comparison to the Bravia 8.
Micro led would have put a stop to this and dominated most shootouts. Too bad it's hundreds of thousands of dollars.
Black is black and white is white on Bravia 8
Sony Bravia 8 is big problem on color is so blue and dark Bravia 7 mini led win
Just give us a dual layer lcd flagship. To hell with power consumption.
7🎉
The 7 is brighter. Thats all it has. OLED is vastly better. . 7 is a bloom machine. Go home. Go back to the store and exchange your 7 for the 8.
Sony is over rated and over priced go with panasonic I have two panasonic plasmas one is a 2012 and 2013 I'm a die hard panasonic man
Panasonic today is not Japanese is only cheap Chinese company day one on one like LG bad Panasonic is not brightness you have not Google Play TV yeah fire stick operating system and it's not good is not working all the country is the TV is expensive because they take money on the name not on the product tv
