- The EPIC Drive & Sound review with the 2016 / 2017 Honda Civic Type R GT powered by a 2.0 Turbo delivering 310 hp and 400 Nm of torque through FWD and a 6-speed manual (weight: 1.390 kg). As you can see, acceleration figures are pretty decent and on the same level as the GTI Clubsport we've recently tested, very astonishing considering the Clubsport had DSG. It's also hard to believe the this engine has only 310 hp as it pulls at least equally strong as our new Focus RS. One major advantage is the short gear ratio that always keeps the engine in best mood but of course also isn't perfect for longer Autobahn drives. I dont know why but i love these kind of exhaust sounds, its like pure power and pressure coming from the engine, also its a 4 cylinder its not supposed to sound like a V8
Dieses Schaltgetriebe, ein Traum, kurz, knackig und leicht zu schalten. Kein anderer Hersteller schafft das!

Jus Like That yea, that would be the only Honda model I would buy right now.
Modern Honda's are too big and heavy.... still rather have an older civic hatchback with a k20/24 swap.

If there is something desirable to be gleaned from the engine note of this car, it is certainly in that very audible turbo.

I prefer the sound of the stock exhaust, actually...reminds me a little of a Porsche, from outside the car. But, I just can't get passed the look of it. I think black paint does a good job of masking some of its more unattractive bits. Maybe it looks better in person. I want to like it!

Id like to see honda equip this car with a dual clutch flappy paddle gearbox system. Thats what puts me off about this car and the focus rs. I like dsg although my seat 184 is manual i kick myself everytime i drive it for not getting the dsg 😶
James Landale thats why i took the golf 7 gti in dsg. Worth every cent.
I´m sure it handles like a dream. Honda Civics have always been a lot of fun to drive (hell, my first car was a Civic 1.5 GL). However, the sound is truly underwhelming. No racing tone or bite at all, which is a shame. What about the grip? Can it launch without sending the TC on overdrive? I´m thinking it´s close to impossible to get 310 horses in the tarmac from the get-go?
Well, I completly agree. This Type R sounds very common in my opinion. Every 1.4 TSI VAG sounds better - lol.
However, it's not that slow for 310 horses.

Doch, der hat ein Sperrdifferential und zwar das aktuell beste auf dem Markt für Fronttriebler, ein querverzahntes, das den Wagen noch mehr in den Kurvenradius reinzieht und einen breiten Wirkbereich hat (nicht so schmal wie beispielsweise das Diff beim Corsa OPC, das man erst durch extremes Gasgeben in der Kurve aktiviert und dann nach einem schmalen Grenzbereich schnell ins Untersteuern bringt). Das Fahrwerk ist schon genial gemacht, trotz 310 PS und Frontantrieb.

Leider sagt mir die Optik überhaupt nicht zu. Ansonsten aber wohl ein feines Auto.
Ich schwanke momentan zwischen SEAT Leon Cupra und VW Golf R.

Dann würde ich den Cupra nehmen. Außer du bist ein Ampel-Racer oder du wöhnst in den Bergen mit viel Schnee im Winter. Sonst ist der Cupra das schnellere Auto. Einen der letzten Megane RS wäre auch eine gute Option, der hat das eindeutig beste Handling aller Sportkompakten. ;-)
Ich tendiere auch eher zum Cupra. Der Allrad des R wiegt halt ordentlich. Allerdings ist es bei mir mitunter recht hügelig und kann auch ordentlich schneien, was wieder pro Allrad wäre.
Der Preis des Cupra (vor allem, wenn man die Vermittler-Rabatte betrachtet) ist natürlich bei vergleichbarer Ausstattung zum Golf unschlagbar.
Naja, erstmal die Facelifts abwarten.
