There is no way you just shrugged off the fact that you've been bitten by moray eels multiple times🤣. Those things scare the hell outta me!! Love all your videos man. Especially love to hear you say "that's enough fish from this spot". So conservation-minded, appreciated.
Love the respect you give to the ocean y'all could've stayed and got your limit at the first spot but you didn't want to over fish it we need more fisherman like you. Like always great video
Another keeping it real video. Many "over produce" their videos which takes the personal touch out of the experience of watching. You have a good recipe, don't change it.
Also. Got a great grouper or scamp recipe for you. Pan sear the fish with your favorite seasoning in butter and top with the following butter rum sauce. 1/2 cup of rum cooked down for two minutes. Add 1/4 cup brown sugar and 4 tablespoons of butter. Add cracked black pepper and a 1/2 tsp of soy sauce. Reduce until slightly thickened and pour over fish. It’s amazing!
Just happened upon your channel and have been watching tons of your content over the past few days. As a professional chef of 37 years, an avid fisherman, and overall lover of the sea and everything in it… I am so appreciative of your care for fish species, selection and not being greedy by overfishing a spot. Most of my culinary journey has been in the islands over the years and the only fishermen I supported at my properties were the guys like you. Family had a home in sugarloaf many years ago and try and get down there as much as I can. I’d like to connect with you at some point in the future and do a trip and get some new recipes in your book! Keep up the awesome content!
What a treat this video was. I'm so addicted to the sound of the speargun and the connection with the fish ,it's like bowhunting. Madeline pouring wine in a coffee ☕ cup was funny. I'm a huge fan of grits, your buddy did awesome job. So yes I'm 110% jealous. Super enjoyed the video 📹 Sir
I chuckled about your relaxed view of being nipped by morays. Quite some years ago my young son and I did a scuba dive in a sweet marine sanctuary. Our guide was feeding sardines to a large moray. When he moved on the eel came out to see if we'd feed him. We swam backwards to the surface with the eel about knee high the whole time. Pretty funny over a few Beliken beers.
Hi Captain, just wanted to say that I am impressed how well you always take care of your catch. Bet the fish house loves to get your fish. On the longline boat I worked we had a chill box that would hold 300 lbs , salt. and ice slush just to chill them before we packed them in the ice hold. so yours are really fresh . You do a great job man!
I Really like the way you take care of the fish. I’m sure a lot viewers don’t understand that. It really is out of the respect for the harvest. Weather it be any animal you’re harvesting. I’m a firm believer in Conversion and protecting what we have left. I really appreciate your understanding of what you do.
I’ve watched 30+ videos in the last two days, love your approach to spearing and I’ve learned loads just by watching. Keep it up, maybe if I can scrounge some guys together we’ll book a day. Keep it up
Enjoy your videos as always, Aaron!!! James is AWESOME people as we have known one another for a very a long time. His diving ability parred with his eye for photography is absolutely unbelievable. You are definitely in some good company there my friend!!!
I love that I'm getting so much knowledge of your videos that the questions I have, you answer within a minute or so of me asking in my head. Another great video brother!
My very favorite videos! It’s very educational the way you explain the process of still my favorite sport, fishing. Just wish I’d learned to spearfish. Luckily my grt nephews are learning. I’m 69 and still love to go with them to Mini Lobstering in the KEYS. KEEP UP your great work.😎❤️🎣
33:33 😁 Эти кадры вызвали у меня зверский аппетит, хотя я недавно покушал. Смотрю и хочется бежать на кухню и достать из холодильника что-нибудь вкусное. Блюдо получилось очень красивым и аппетитным! 😁👍
Beautiful water color this day. You make it look so easy at over 50 ft deep. Amazing. Yes a shark episode would be great. After watching so many of your video's it makes me less afraid of sharks. Heard the bull sharks are pretty nasty but you seem to keep them under control pretty well.
Around the time of this video that years lobster season, me and my family went down there and fished off a popular hill in The Atlantic at night and we had 6 people in the boat and limited out in about an hour. Also had a 12 foot lemon shark almost come in the boat. Most rememberable trip
Aaron. Got to fish with you soon. I stopped by last year and met you at the dock after coming back from the Tortugas on a day trip. The fish that you see locally around key west makes me want to fish there rather than making the long trip to the Tugas. Real quality fish. Have to book you in may for opening of grouper season. Great job and awesome content. Best. JT
to be honest its not always this good out front! the Tortugas is hard to beat! especially rod and reel. but would be happy to have you out, may is currently full I think i'm into second week of June.
Aaron another great video, I love the detail in your narrations. Have you ever done a video discussing equipment, wetsuit, gloves, etc. It would great to getting an understanding of what you would need getting started.
glad you liked it! and yes I have an older video where I go over my gear, nothing crazy in depth but just shows the things I keep in my bag! it was a year or so ago!
I'll say something about that knife. It is the exact knife I used in one of the busiest restaurant in Waikiki. The fish cutter ran the whole kitchen, and that knife was his (or her) badge of office. Mine was the same but with a rose wood handle that was modified. Mine was different because I was the guy that trained everybody. We handled about 3 to 5 hundred pounds of high end sushi grade ahi, Ono, opah, and snapper every day. That knife is not overkill; it was the only chef knife we used--- from breaking to fabrication to slicing garlic. Once it becomes part of your hand you will understand. The guy that gave it to you knows what I'm talking about. And that is why he gave it to you. He must love you very much to do so and feels as I do, that you deserve it
Great vids keep them coming. I am not in the great state of Florida or even the USA that are both my home so I'm loving every minute of it and cannot wait to get home and get fishing.
I've been binge watching your videos and finally caught up. Great videos and content.. Very impressive. My wife and I would love to book a charter with you.
Binged on your videos this weekend... Great content. I drive 80 miles to the NC COAST to then cruise out 50+ miles to see bottom fishing like this in 150ft of Gulf Stream waters. I would be happy to catch snapper all day for some clean and cook... you make me wanna try fishing Key West.
Love your videos. Group of us here in Puerto Rico have been going out for a year or so in our area. A lot of swimming from shore for us. Your videos have really helped us with finding and bagging fish. If you're ever in PR hit me up!
I totally agree on bleeding them because adrenaline stiffens the meat. You also mentioned them flopping around in the cooler those vibrations transmit as faint as it may be as distressed fish which also attract sharks and cudas.
Brother y’all had a heck of a day on the snapper. It was tough watching the grouper swim around. That knife would be great for tuna. I’ve heard of Gouda in grits before and I think the smoke taste would be good.
What an epic catch and cook! I make grits with parmigiano regiano. I have truffle oil but never thought of adding it to grits but I will this weekend. 😎
Not that the fish didn't look great but the grits is something I would like. As a Canadian, grits aren't popular here but I love them. Being of Northern Italian heritage, they remind me of polenta which I grew up with. Whenever I am down south I get the strangest looks from locals when they see me eating grits and often comment that most northerners leave them on the plate. As always, great video, thanks for sharing.
haha I'm 1/2 Canadian by blood 🙋♂️ working on getting my dual citizenship! and that's too funny can't say I remember my dad making many grits as a kid!
Free diving with my dad in the Canal Zone, Pacific side and he took me over to "Super Secret". Had to triangulate land markers, like the coconut tree, get it under the fire hydrant and the church on the hill had to be under the house on the water line, that kinda GPS, anyway we got on the rocks and anchored up. Geared up and before we jump in, he says, do not gut shoot the fish, they will leave, so we swim over to the rocks, I take a breathe and down I go, a whole school of Crimson Snapper come up and WHAMO, pop one, right in the gut, get to the surface and the old man is hot. So he heads down and I hear the gun go off and up comes the old man and with his "gut shot" snapper. Just looked at me and said "not a word, boy.". Musta been that been grin on my face. Nice vid.
Thanks for the free entertainment. Do you ever run into sheepshead down in those reefs…it is sheepshead time right now on the nature coast and I would like to see how other folks are cooking them. I am sick of blackening season and want something new.
I really enjoy the full dives without the edits (from surface to bottom) as it gives me a better idea regarding ur bottom time and the techniques you employ . Love the uploads I feel like I learn a lot from watching a pro like you. 🤙
@@KeyWestWaterman If you're curious - it would be nice to put a GoPro on your gun and point it back to yourself while diving. It would really give us a better view on your freediving technique, equalizing, etc. Thanks again for doing what you do.
Great video but now I'm off to Publix for some grits and 1/2 pound of Gouda (only 2 for dinner) I already have some Black Belly Rosies as well as the truffle oil and blackened seasoning. Shoot Straight & Tight Lines from Lighthouse Point, Florida.
Looks amazing we have so many red snapper diving is the best way to get grouper by me!!!! There's so many red snapper you can't hardly catch anything else!!!!
Eating good Capt. Looks delicious.!!!. Curious why on your dive there is no signs of lion fish. Are they more prevalent elsewhere in the keys and not Key West
Once again, a NICE VIDEO! Bleeding the fish is SO important, for good meat quality... And we spearfishermen are SO spoiled, really... 😆Cause, no matter how fresh a market fish is, it never tastes as good as one caught by spearfishing...
So enjoyable to watch and listen to your narration. You really are "the man" when it comes to spearfishing. Love your videos.
Really happy to hear you enjoy them!!!

Haha thank you!!!
I really like how you often say that way of doing things is not the only way or the best way. Being humble is good.
just being honest! thanks so much for watching!
The way you explain as you go makes a novice appreciate and learn. Especially the safety measures to minimize unwanted attention, namely sharks.
I appreciate the positive feedback! 🙏
