Usually LOVE your stuff, but gotta tell you, I hate fraud fishing electric reel stuff. What’s next KWW long lining? My bad too, I just shouldn’t have watched the video. Views correlate to acceptance and I want no part of that. Anyway, to each his own I guess but count me out for any future electric bs « sport « fishing.

I'm gonna pin this comment just in case anyone else is thinking the same thing. First and foremost I will say very clearly, I am not a "Sport Fisherman" I do not do any of this stuff for "sport". everything I do in my videos is to harvest food for myself and my family. I absolutely enjoy the hunt, but that is not the reason I do it. With that being said, my job this day was to harvest a fish for us to eat. Just like a hunter uses a rifle to make their job easier. An electric reel makes my job of harvesting a fish easier. Also, if you've never reeled up 10 lbs from 1600' all day your opinion is irrelevant. I've been doing this UA-cam thing long enough to understand that I will always have people that disagree with me and I don't take any of it personally. Thats why I like to take the time to explain things from my perspective, but putting the use of an electric reel and long lining in the same wheel house is one of the more ridiculous things I've ever heard on here. Either way, thanks for tuning in.

@Steve Hicks, please upload your video of hand-cranking a 10# lead from 1500' - would love to see it! Also, swim to swordfish grounds since boats are also fraud-fishing - you must use dugout canoe.

One of the most thoughtful and environmentally conscious fisherman you will find on youtube. Sounds like you just have some negativity built up. No need to impose your standards on others. I personally think that catch and release sport fishing is pretty shoddy these days. (Used to be my MO) I don't watch those channels nor do I show up to dis them in the comment section. There are too many better ways to spend energy. Just my 2.

Im not really a fisherman but i like watching the videos. I didn't know electric reels existed and think its pretty interesting to see them being used. Nothing wrong with it. You need to let go of such silly hate.

at the end, it reminded me of all of the times I have come home too tired to do anything but barely feed myself. It was really fun seeing you super excited and trying to manage all of the different things happening. It seemed like one of those times when having a third person driving the boat so you could focus on catching the fish while Will focused on shooting the action. really intense episode. loved it! thank you so much Aaron!

That was awesome. Seeing the halved squid gives you an idea just how powerful a hunter they are. Sounded like you were somewhat close to NAS KW 👍 The cat watched you put the bowl down for the dog, looked at the bowl, then looked back at you like 'Hey, where's mine?' 😂😂 Fresh sword is something I haven't had in a long time. Great job, despite the chaos.

That excitement never gets old! Had my heart rate up just watching! One thing I used to do to handle that 'juice', is to take a paper towel and fold it up to fit the vacuum bag just below the seal area. That way it catches all that juice so that it would seal properly. Just another way to do it.....

What an absolutely outstanding episode! Watching you kick into the professional fisherman mode, while still cracking humor was great. Even in a “true cluster “ (which shows up a lot in life) the determination, confidence and skill shine through. Congrats on the fish, end the day with a cold one and echo the words of Hooper, Quint and Brody…”show me the way to go home” Open invite to you for a Michigan deer hunt if you want venison 🦌 I’ll hook you up with free lodging and my blinds/stands. Cool video as usual. I'm surprised you don't catch gigantic grouper once in awhile if those baits are down near the bottom. Swordfish are strange, they don't look like bottom fish.
Edit, you can definitely eat fish out of another fish's stomach. The guy from Sailing Into Freedom says it tastes pickled and he eats it always if it's not too far gone.

Last week I was out with three other very experienced local charter capt's..we lost one boat side at 930am...due to a stupid drag mistake...6hrs later we came tight again..lost that fish boat side due to a missed dart shot by me and the fish swimming directly into the motors. It was a long ride home...and I spent the next thee days out there trying to redeem with no success. That is sword fishing and like they say "if ya know, ya know"...haha worst addiction ever!

Try this marinade for Swordfish. Depending on how many sword steaks you are going to cook you might want to adjust the amount.
    1/2 cup of soy sauce
    6 tablespoons of sugar
2 tablespoons of oyster sauce (optional)
2-4 tablespoons of water (just to dilute the soy sauce if you are not using low sodium soy sauce)
    1 tablespoon of olive oil
    2-4 tablespoons of minced garlic
    2-4 tablespoons of minced ginger
    1/2 teaspoon of black pepper
I used this marinade for sword steaks on the grill and we also made kabobs. Sword meat is so dense, kabobs work well. Love the channel. Keep up the good work!

Worked on a boat for 8 years... ran the boat for the last two of them.. been out of the water for 6.... wish I could have stayed in the game.. some don't understand how much of a hustle it is.. it's not all fun and games.. but I do wish I could have made it work.. things happen.. times change.. circumstances lead people in different directions... glad to see you doing your thing.. catch em up!

thanks for sharing not many people show the raw footage of fighting fish and the chaos that ensues. swordfishing is so weird. Sometimes i'm so superstitious sometimes i'm convinced nothing matters. In the heat of the battle if you feel overwhelmed with your buoy rod just snip it and focus on the fish at hand. I've fought strong fish that make me spin the boat for hours and the gulf stream pushes us north very rapidly by fort lauderdale. 15 miles north in a few hours while at battle certain times of the year. i just go back to splice and collect the buoy after. uni to uni baby. unless it gets sucked under which is unlikely its there down the line. when you think you have a good shot on the harpoon just wait 5 more seconds. some lessons ive learned swording last few years.. cheers from hillsboro inlet.

yup! I think thats what I enjoy it so much, I thought about cutting it several times, if i'm being honest splices in the line drive me crazy other wise I would have. I know they hold well it's just an ocd thing lol. thanks for tuning in and taking the time to share! 🙏

Aaron, the way I keep the moisture from getting to the seal is fold a paper towel and place it ahead of your seal. as the vac sucks the moisture absorbs in the paper towel therefore leaving the fish with moisture instead of flash freezing it in the freezer.

So I’m going to dog pile on the “hippy fest” 😂
I tend to consider your videos dinner theatre for me every Monday.
Well Monday until today has been one of those weeks with a lot going on.
So I didn’t get to watch this video until today.
As a child, fishing has always been my escape from a lot of things children shouldn’t have to deal with.
So I turned fishing into my “church”
Well today I had a great discussion with a true friend of mine and was able to get my mind and soul back in line.
Low and behold I sit down and finally watch this video with peace in my heart and soul.
I truly believe that things happen for reasons we just can’t explain.
I truly find your videos like a return to fishing in its purest form, as it’s meant to be.
I thank you once again for not just great content but a content of great character.

Well done, always love your videos!! Another trick for controlling moisture in the bag seal when vac sealing is to fold a paper towel and set it in the bag between the meat and the seal. Learned that on the LEM sealer page training videos.
Not sure if you know this or not, I just completed the required 'Return 'Em Right' training course to obtain the free descending device, I noticed they used your boat in the main page header, but no credit in the ambassador or the partner page? Nice to get the boat on the front page, but I felt like they should have given you a plug for the use of the footage. Was a nice surprise to see you on their page though!

Love your videos and love this one too! I caught a 246lb swordfish out of Marathon last Tuesday. My first time sword fishing and my first drop! It was awesome and it has fed all of my neighbors. I caught it on an electric reel in 2000 ft. I have deep dropped jigged before manually at just over a 1000 ft and it is brutal, and kind of like pulling a rail car with your teeth (which I have not done). I actually have to go for an MRI as I hurt my arm bringing the sword fish on the boat. I used to be a naysayer about electric reels BEFORE I DID IT! It is actually quite technical and sporting, all it really eliminates is the “reeling” part. What difference is there to the sporting aspect whether the “motor” is your arm or an electric motor? You still have to adjust the drag, not horse the fish, get it to bite, detect the bite, etc… There is much more to sportfishing than cranking on a reel. Anyway, I have learned so much from you and hope to go fishing with you and Will someday. I am your perfect demographic as I like to fish in the Keys and Cook in the Keys! Thank you for all your great videos and advice.
