If you're wondering why the re-upload, there was an audio desync issue that was causing sound effects to play 4 seconds late. It wasn't a catastrophic issue, but as somebody who takes pride in his work I decided it was worth it just to re-upload the video. The original version of still in the "Gaming Videos" playlist.
One notable thing about ESPN X-Games Skateboarding that I'm surprised you didn't mention is that it's the reason why Bob Burnquist wasn't in THPS3 because he was part of the playable roster and they didn't want him appearing in a competitor's game. It's notable since otherwise Bob appears in every Tony Hawk's game except THPS5 (which we don't talk about anyway) and is the skater with the most appearances in the series outside of Tony Hawk himself and Rodney Mullen who was only absent in the first game and again THPS5.
Surprised John K (head of Spumco) was willing to collaborate with one of the most Japanese game studios, considering his distain for anime (mostly the faux-anime style of Pre-Reboot Ben 10 and Teen Titans ‘03).
Think its hilarious the child groomer has the audacity to call Teen Titans art style “gay” He’s concerned with the gayness, but animates scenes between 2 male animals humping to cut wood Irony.
I wanted to say this on the original video today but you re-uploaded, so here we are. Thank you for unlocking that core memory by mentioning the Ripping Friends.
Skatebirds humor would be increased by at least 25% if they had the birds to real life scale. There's just something inherently funny about a huge kakapao chatting it up with a teeny cockatoo
I'm not sure what it is about your videos, but even though they're almost always about something I'm not interested in, I can watch the whole way through and even rewatch them occassionally because you have such an amazing voice. I think you'd definitely have been on the radio if you'd been born 60 years earlier.
Took me a while to realize that Go Go Hypergrind HD boxart was a remake from Furaffinity. You can spot the signature that it was from Syaokitty. He's still active today.
Hey mate, another awesome video and sorry to hear about the issues you had. Just want to let you know I love how deep you go into the stories within games and you’ve played a big part in getting me to start a channel myself. Thank you!
Backyard skateboarding got me into computers and how to manage my files because I installed it wrong the first time. Spent about a day with my dad trying to figure it out
For a moment i got scared he erased the first upload, i get the sentiment to wanting to get it right but i was scared he was gonna take it down and lose all those views, this is the best possible compromise, the original error was pretty minor anyway. TBP always gives his best, love the channel !
This video seems to have fixed the problem L’s that the original video had (e.i audio mess ups when talking about one thing and then comparing it to insert thing here with the sound effects) really good stuff mate.
I'm amused that I could tell that the Tarzan ship level immediately was obviously just the Cruise Ship from THSP3 retooled and retextured despite how little footage this video showed of it.
When thinking of THPS knockoffs, I think of Whirl Tour for the Gamecube. You're on a scooter instead of a skateboard, but the overall game structure is practically the same. It was a bit wackier and even had combat if I recall.
I was 5 when extremely goofy skateboarding came out and i loved the hell out of that game. Also loved Cailou and johnny test growing up so thank you canada for being more than just the red green show
Dunno if I said it on the previous release but SkateBird's soundtrack is great and the game itself takes a bit of time to get used to. It also has a setting that turns off time limits which helps things out.
When Tony Hawk's own licensed games became a huge success. Every other developers wants to take the opportunity of sharing that success, and not everyone can be as awesome as Tony Hawk's Pro Skater.
Reposting this from the old version so it doesn't get lost. It a pretty recent, but there is a game that mixes THPS with rouge-lite elements thats in early access called Helskate. At its current state its a fun time and its got room to improve.
Any plans for non-skateboard games that attempt the THPS formula? Also, If you enjoy making parks, some devs looked at the park editor and said "What If this was a Skatepark Tycoon?".
47:57 - as someone who got the demo disc in a box of cereal and played it on a top of the line pentium in a law office library - yeah, the framerate was always crap.
For SkateBird, what would your though be about a combo ender button. I.e. you prese a button to end the combo.and get the points. Would that resolve the concern you have?
Pretty interesting takes regarding Linkin Park. Personally, I wasn't fond of A Thousand Suns or One More Light because they felt way too soft compared to what came before. At least Minutes to Midnight had a good balance between the soft and heavy stuff. Not saying they were bad albums, just not the definitive sound when I think of Linkin Park. And I know it's the cool thing to hate on Sonic Forces, but I will die on the hill in saying its soundtrack was a banger (I have my own hot takes). "Fist Bump" and "Infinite" were very reminiscent of early LP, which was something I wanted out of One More Light, but never got. Sorry for the long essay, this was something I wanted to get off my chest.
Brother, listen to early Dangerkids!! That's the band that did the music for Forces. I actually seen them live before they were opening for a much bigger band but they sounded like LP in concert too
@@spiritandtimeakalilroachie7014 Oh yeah, I've heard Dangerkids, their music does remind me a lot of LP mixed with Story of the Year, another band I liked.
Mr Bacon man I have a question, does your name come from a episode of Ross's Game Dungeon? I recently watched one of his halloween videos and there was a bit where he picked up "Tactical Bacon" in a game.
In recent years, sports games aren't like how they used to be. Back then some truly amazing stuff. Now you are likely to find an actual decent sports game.
Ahem, X-Blades on the God of War Knockoff Collection: Failed Franchise Edition (that game was not in the thumbnail like Spider-Man: Friend or Foe). It was that bad to where TBP couldn't even find it on that one level where you had to endure a gauntlet of spongy enemies. Little did he know that if he unlocked any of the Dark spells (you can see in the footage that he did) he'd end up getting the bad ending where Ayumi kills Jay. Aside from X-Blades, there's Thor God of Thunder, Smash n Survive.
2:00 weird I recall in one of your videos (I think Just Cause) you showed your favorite game of each year and Hit & Run was your pick for 2003. Was there nothing else in 2003 that stood out to you?
I hate "Skatebird" so much. I don´t know why people still give this a positive Review on Steam, despite all the flaws. The Game seems to not even understand what it´s core mechanic needs to be.
BACKYARD SKATEBOARDING IS THE GOAT Oh wait you're playing the GOTY edition, which removed a lot of flavor dialogue and introduced a ton of bugs... Eh, whatever, it's still a great game.
Go! Go! Hypergrind’s plot of Computer Generated animation overtaking cel-animation is redundant to me, I don’t mind computer generated animation because I love CGI animation, it’s flash animation and AI generated content that I have my biggest problems with.
how can you have a sound mind and put johnny test, caliou and french people on the top 3 worse things from canada? you do know that justin beber came from canada?
i was not expecting a good rating for skatebird, when i played it it was just a slog and the "humor" just got annoying quick. not to mention the awkward physics.

I'll literally give it another watch and like just for the love and effort. You might owe me though.
Keep up the good work
Incase you missed that, 51:12 had an out of sync sound effect in the original video.
This amount of work demands a like from me and from everybody else watching this video.
I was seriously questioning my sanity when this video kept popping up without a red bar at the bottom.
Thank you, still clicked for the view and gave it a thumbs up. Love you!

I was so sad when he got eliminated from THUG2's story.
Grind Session was another Tony Hawk-like skateboarding game on the PS1. I had it on a demo disk, when those were a thing
That was the only skating game I ever played/completed. It came out less than a year after the original Pro Skater.

Irony.
Guess he couldn't say no to money, or maybe rest of staff told him to get over himself for the sake of the studio getting _a job_
I wanted to say this on the original video today but you re-uploaded, so here we are.

THAT was the name of the game! Go Go Hypergrind was such a weird and weirdly good game.

nice video ! watching again xD
21:21 hey look a game that caddicarus covered. And one by his personal LJN.
Starring Johnathan, Johnathan, Johnathan, Johnathan, and BLACK JOHNATHAN!

Airblade on PS2 is my favorite skateboarding game, just has a huge nostalgia factor for me.

As a kid I had both THPS4 and Disney's Extreme Skate Adventure, and to this day I love them both.
I was obsessed with Disney's extreme Skate game as a kid i still im today my favorite character to play as is Simba also timon and pumbaa 😊

I'm amused that I could tell that the Tarzan ship level immediately was obviously just the Cruise Ship from THSP3 retooled and retextured despite how little footage this video showed of it.
I seem to recall seeing something, somewhere about Skatebird. I'll have to look into that one later.
When thinking of THPS knockoffs, I think of Whirl Tour for the Gamecube. You're on a scooter instead of a skateboard, but the overall game structure is practically the same. It was a bit wackier and even had combat if I recall.
They had one for Surfing too I just don't know the name off the top of my head
Sounds like a better game than Razor Freestyle Scooter.
I like your intro. Its a cheap/smart idea and memorable.
I own a copy of Cabllista on ps2. It was pretty fun, I boot it up every now and again.
I was 5 when extremely goofy skateboarding came out and i loved the hell out of that game. Also loved Cailou and johnny test growing up so thank you canada for being more than just the red green show
Love this video!
I only ever played the GBA version of the Disney game but I remember enjoying it a lot
I love that in Skateboard Madness, you don't seem to be connected to the ground, like your floating in air a few CMs above ground haha
I don't mind a re-upload when it comes to the technical issues you had. the video was great anyways
Dunno if I said it on the previous release but SkateBird's soundtrack is great and the game itself takes a bit of time to get used to. It also has a setting that turns off time limits which helps things out.
Damn it TBP, now I have to watch it all again 😂😂😂😂😂
Honestly surprised you didn't cover Airblade. It's a forgotten gem from PS2 that used the THPS & Jet Set Radio formula and made it it's own.
35:50 - *blink* *blink* ... going from the kid-friendly Disney game to.. this... was a bit jarring. 😲
I had to pause the video and go listen to meteroa again, I always forget about that album

I've watched the original version, but I'll gladly watch this version!
Really surprised you missed Grind Session. That might be the best of the "knockoff" games as far as I remember.
It was in development before THPS.
Forgot about Grind Session...despite being a ripoff, it's pretty damn good
The dreamcast version of andy mcdonald was worse with the framerate it was unplayable. Bailing 100% affects the end score.
Banger
Thrasher was my favorite skateboarding game, can you do a retrospective on that
Lincoln Ueda is a brazilian skater legend.
Any plans for non-skateboard games that attempt the THPS formula?

56:23 As a massive Linkin Park fan, those takes are absolutely correct. RIP Chester.
RIP Toriyama
Now you can get to the next x-sports videogame genre: Snowboarding.
Coolboarders and the SSX franchise!
Not to mention Snowboard Kids and 1080° Snowboarding
47:57 - as someone who got the demo disc in a box of cereal and played it on a top of the line pentium in a law office library - yeah, the framerate was always crap.
Lol so that's where skating Solid Snake was from 😂🤣
For SkateBird, what would your though be about a combo ender button. I.e. you prese a button to end the combo.and get the points. Would that resolve the concern you have?
What version of place for my head was that at the intro to the espn x-games skateboarding section?
No Grind Session? It was arguably the best knock-off in the day.

saying sonic forces' ost is good is not the hot take you think it is.
Can you do a Bottom of the Barrel edition of THPS knockoff collection?
Mr Bacon man I have a question, does your name come from a episode of Ross's Game Dungeon?
I recently watched one of his halloween videos and there was a bit where he picked up "Tactical Bacon" in a game.
Where do you think the name comes from?
@@TBP Ross's Game Dungeon Halloween Sampler 2 around 11:44
No, I'm being coy. I mean that's literally where I got the name from. I'm a big fan of Ross's Game Dungeon.
@@TBP ah ok.
In recent years, sports games aren't like how they used to be. Back then some truly amazing stuff. Now you are likely to find an actual decent sports game.
Something I forgot to mention, is Skateboard Madness the fiest time TBP got genuinely *pissed* at a game on this channel?
Ahem, X-Blades on the God of War Knockoff Collection: Failed Franchise Edition (that game was not in the thumbnail like Spider-Man: Friend or Foe). @neliaironwood7573 Mmm even still, his anger was much more tranquil than it is here.
On Simpsons Skateboarding pick Marge, She's the best controlling character at the beginning.
1:08:25 any idea what made Dragon Ball the exception to your apathy towards anime?
It's not, that was a clip from Dragon Ball Z Abridged.
@@TBP oh I’m stupid
@@TBPalso I don’t need to say this, but rip Akira Toriyama.
Does anyone know what song is playing at 42:40 ?
Does anyone else remember that weird scooter game for the PS2?
met my first girlfriend at a community center playing andy mcdonald's pro skater singing better days by citizen king. bad game, good times hahaha.
U should try OlliOlli world and BombRush Cyberfunk easily the best skaters to come out in the last 5 years
I think OlliOlli is different enough from THPS. Now Cyberfunk, on the other hand...
Wish they added Darby Allin on THPS 1+2
that combo meter was from tony hawk
No "Shaun White Skateboarding?"
AirBlade?
2:00 weird I recall in one of your videos (I think Just Cause) you showed your favorite game of each year and Hit & Run was your pick for 2003. Was there nothing else in 2003 that stood out to you?
How could you omit Grind Session!? That was legitimately better than thps1
Read my most recent community post
22:15 Jonathan, Jonathan, Jonathan, and Black Jonathan
Hang on, did you say you're not a fan of Hit and Run? (Without actually saying it!) Thats a quality GTA knockoff!
That's your opinion. For the sorts of people who like that sort of thing, that's a sort of thing those people like, but I've never enjoyed that game.
I thought the Simpson Skateboarding couldn't be that bad. It really is that bad.
How did Disney skatevboarding games and Simpsons skateboarding games get mentioned without Grind Session getting anything?
Grind session came out too soon after the first THPS to have been influenced.
The Donald Duck disrespect is disgusting.
Daffy is the superior duck and you know it
Even TBP agreed with Caddicarus. Phoenix Games is the devil
22:16 should I be Jonathan, Jonathan, Johnathan, Jonathan, Jonathan or black Jonathan?
I've never agreed with someone so much when it came to linkin park, except the place for my head bit, can't agree there
Disney Sports Skateboarding rules and the soundtrack has no reason to be as good as it is
So true
What’s up with the reupload?
