One of the first things I learned in business, any business. STAY OUT OF OTHER PEOPLES POCKETS! Once you get that in your mind. Once you let go of that preconceived notion and perception, you're on the road to being ok. Just because YOU won't spend that money on your product, doesn't mean others won't. People's priorities are going to be different than yours. People find value in different things than you. I'm sure, there are things you buy or buy a lot of, others will look at you and say, "I wouldn't spend my money or that much on that". Make your wares and sell them for the appropriate price so you can make a living or this will just be an EXPENSIVE hobby...
That s so real !! I think everybody should focus on their business road, is ok to get informed, to have a look at your competitors , but that s not mean you should follow them or take them ideas instead of improve your actually ideas. I hope this make sense. Every business has ups and downs , but focus and keep going, people talk...and they talk A LOT . So keep focusing on your thing, that's my idea. :X:X

Seriously looking into opening a small business. Your videos have actually been quite helpful! I had NO idea about those food/wax laws! That’s nuts! But it does make a lot of sense. I’m definitely going to be looking into that for where I live.

I didn't know it was illegal to sell candles which look like food on the UK - you see them at every market!

It's OK to sell out we make a certain amount of everything for example 20 of each scent we carry for Christmas it's easy to make more but once Christmas is done it's done so try to find scents which could be used in spring summer and autumn
So True! There is some smells that people will on use around Christmas and refuse to have them on at any other time!
I worked at Sabon in NYC and we would pass out soap samples. No matter how many times I said soap. I'd still watch people unwrap it and eat it thinking it's candy 🍬 😬 the looks I'd get.
oh nooo! I would end up chasing them around so they'd spit it out 😂 😂
I work in a hotel and usually the first thing people say after I say "Write down your make model and color, I DON'T NEED THE LICENSE." is generally "I don't know my license." 😂

Interesting video. I knew the EU had more strict laws but did a shame you couldn't do the "fun" candles.
My biggest mistake is listening to essentially the candle myth machine. I want to create good candles and wax melts and many groups/sites/YT push "100% SOY ONLY!!!" Okay, so I emphasized that but you get my point. And I've seen people go from praising candles to bashing them on other platforms simply because they found out the candle is para/soy. I mean reading the comments sent me to scrap all my previous work and start over to accommodate and now I am really wanting to switch back.
omg! This is such a pet peeve of mine! This whole "if it's not 100% soy then it sucks" drives me crazy! Honestly I would say, focus on making good quality candles and eventually people will get on board. Good Luck 🤗

so does that mean that if i wanted to do something like a standard 6 cell clamshell that smells of something like 'cola bottles' would that be against the law in the uk? xxx
I think that would be okay, but you'd need to check. I think the issue is when it looks AND smells like the food product that's an issue. But I've seen plenty of that smell like food stuff! xxx

12oz candle i sell it for $28 (US). People buy them on markets!
Biggest mistake was spending too much on Fragrance oils and buying to many
me too! I bought 1 litre bottles of fragrance oils, my first Christmas because I thought I would use them! so much money wasted! 😭
@@MahsaHammatBahary Damn that sucks! I have only bought tester bottles to see if I like scents. The ones I don't like, I'm eventually going to host wax melt parties, where people can pay a fee to make their own wax melts and they can choose one of the unwanted fragrance. They don't know they're just using oils I'm never going to use. I figure this is a good way to market my company, build community, give people something fun to do, and use my unwanted oils
