I want to start my candle business. I have started making candles with silicone mould. The main problem that I am facing is the legal requirement to start the candle business. The insurance and everything.
@@waliimran1235 Hi, it's all quite straight-forward (if you're in the UK). I'd recommend setting up a ltd company through an accountant, you then really need liability insurance to protect yourself. Then it's understanding and following the CLP legislation to make sure everything is labelled correctly. Is this what you mean?
@@homefragranceacademy Yes, how to follow the CLP legislation. I have bought the warning labels. I do not know what candle and how to carry out candle tests.
@@waliimran1235 You do need to spend some time understanding the CLP legislation, you can google ECHA CLP Legislation to find this. Each product you make needs to have a CLP label affixed to it which is made for that product - the fragrance oil and bases you use will make a difference. It can be complicated, but there are CLP consultants you can work with, or a lot of fragrance oil suppliers have CLP labels available for you to use too. We do have a CLP course in our HFA Growth Hub which might be ideal for you to join and work through - you can click the link in our bio to find this.
Great video, thank you. I’ve been building my candle making as a side hobby for the last two years. I’ve been selling out every craft show making more in 7 hours VS my full time graphic design/marketing business. So I’m finally jumping in and focusing my time and energy into my candle business. I feel with the marketing knowledge, product design, product photography and marketing strategies skills, I will in no doubt be successful and my customers have absolutely loved my unique candles. I have that fire burning inside and I’m excited to pour my energy into growing my own business. Thanks for the inspiration!

Hi, Thank you for all your information. Do we need licence to start a candles business? I would really appreciate if you could help with this information. Thank you 🙏
Hi, no problem at all. You don't need any licenses to start a candle business. You just need to ensure you're following the legislation for CLP (UK & Europe). You can Google details about this, or you take take our course available through our website if you wish :)

Thank you! You need to find a niche to target. Don't try and be a general home fragrance brand because you'll get lost in the sea of others. Find a niche and create products for them.

Hi. It's all relative, Shopify is one of the best e-commerce platforms out there and simple to use. So I would certainly recommend it. To make it worthwhile you really need to build up that email list as I mention in the video, so when you do launch your site you have orders coming in right away.
Great videos. May I ask two questions please? When your business is properly up and running, what is the minimum percentage of turnover should put into advertising to at least maintain if not increase your sales? Also didn't I once see an offer about joining the academy in a paid prescription? Thank you again.
Hi, thanks for your comment. There's no set answer to that as it really depends on what your business can afford and how aggressive you want to be. In the early days I'd recommend spending every penny you can on marketing to build up a customer list. Then you can reduce the amount you spend acquiring new customers and focus on retaining existing customers to get more orders from them - this is where you'll see increased revenue and more profit. Regarding the HFA Growth Hub, you can sign up here: www.homefragrance.academy/store
How do you create a page where you have your customers putting their email in for the subscription? I’ve just started making wax melts but this is a really good idea and I’d like to try it!
If you use Mailchimp you can create a very simple landing page which collects email addresses. You need to make that page as encouraging as possible, then drive traffic to it through ads.
If you're planning to start a business to sell them. Firstly you should ensure you have a limited company and the adequate level of insurance to help you. You then need to ensure you label your products correctly with CLP and any safety information. These are the basic requirements.
It's a numbers game, you need to reach as many of your target audience as you possibly can, with a good offer, good marketing, great photos, reviews and social proofing. Have a look throughout our Instagram profile for loads of tips instagram.com/homefragranceacademy/
