Entire performance: • Andy McKee - Rylynn li...
Buona prima lezione!

This is legitimately one of the most beautiful works of music that will ever be written.
It is. I play his music for my toddler all the time.
holy shit.... a guitar lesson from Andy McKee....
For free! Love this superb guitarist.
Lol
First time for me to hear Andy’s voice. Feels to me he has always been talking through his guitar.
Nice thing youtube can do half speed. A true gift to guitarists.
when I was younger I was going through a rough time. There were so many days I just wanted to quit, but I would play this beautiful song and it would just melt everything away. Andy thank you so much for all that you've done I can't wait to learn it.
I named my daughter after this song ❤️ I only found out after that he had made this song for a friend that lost a child but I've always thought this song was so beautiful ❤️

We couldn't agree more than that :)

That might be the best looking guitar I've ever seen...
Michael Greenfield makes amazing guitars.
Great lesson, much thanks to Andy McKee and MusicOff for putting this together!
Andy's sound is absolutely awesome. And it's the simplicity what makes it so great.
One of the most beautiful music that i ever hear.
Andy is just an acoustic guitar genius man. So amazed by him everytime
Andy tank...la tua delicatezza nel fare le posizioni di accordo, allontanando o nascondendo le dita inutili per maggiore chiarezza..
grazie
I've been waiting years for this video, thank you so much!
Andy, you're a legend. Thank you!
I've always loved this. Thank you Andy! 🙏
He’s a great great artist 🧡
been working on this intro for about an hour, almost got it finished. One hell of a composition.
First time I heard this song was in 2013, had almost lost hope I would ever be able to play this song. 2015, brought up new hopes, it was period of transition for me. Awesome !! Glad Tutorial is here

Soooo smoothhhhhhhh ~~~~~~~~
I didnt read the whole headline......Omg its the man himself. When i (many years ago) saw you playing Drifting i was like.....somebody should learn this guy to play that poor guitar properly.....in the right way....no no no why are you playing like that and sound awesome.....here im trying to learn to play and you are playing like that.....wtf....you cant just slap that bitch around and sound like nothing i ever heard before.....this is a whole other level.....damn you widend my horizont. YOU ARE AWESOME and thank you for showing us what you do in this vid too. u r def 1 of the best guitarplayers here on yt.
To anyone feeling risky to tune the string higher 3 frets.
This might help !!!
Im thinking of dropping my whole EBGDAE (standard) tuning down to two frets assuming it is in standard so that i dont have to tune the 5th fret to 3 frets higher damaging the instrument...Instead i would just have to tune the 5th string to half step above
(upto A#) and rest string as usual....
I go from C# to alter it so I don't break any strings or put too much stress on my bridge/pegs so it works great.
Thank you :)
slapping the bass, man.
After learning scales and cord shapes, just throw them out? AAHHHHGGGGG!
It’s what masters do when they get bored.
nice one
Andy is my herO
genio
厉害
i will learn it
I would break my little toe to be able to play like this
*breaks 5th string instantly*
For practice purposes, just tune the unaltered strings down by a step to a step and a half (around D to C# standard) and do the alterations from there, because then the sketchy string will only be A to A#. No chance of breaking a string unless your strings are old or you have other issues.
If you go to tune it normally later and can't stop snapping the string, try lighter gauge or take your guitar to a luthier and ask them to set it up to be stable under greater tension. If the string keeps snapping, it's not unlikely that you'll rip the bridge out before long. Maybe worse.
@@ossiehalvorson7702 glad that i read your comment before tuning it more up 😀
Thank you 👍🏻 that really helped a lot
Does anyone know if he has written down the tablature ? Like actually his ? I want to play it note for note
2023 still listening to it
Andy Mckee: personally teaches you how to play Rylynn.
Bob Ross: charges money for tabs of his songs and refuses to allow community made tabs to exist on ultimate guitar.
Don Ross?
Don bob?
Who else tried to learn this before this lesson and failed miserably?? Dont worry I put a like on my own comment
Where can i get the correct tabs for this song?
HOOOOLY FUCKIN SHIT O-O...that moment when I'm like "imma fuckin learn it after all this time!"..a bit of hunting later O_O and a lesson on rylynn..BY ANDY FCKIN MCKEE o_o..sheeeeet
Andy Please Do a lesson on Ebon Coast in standard tuning, i love the song but i dont want to tune my guitar all the way down to B and i don't have enough $$for a baritone
+Gavin Keller Just play it in standard? Both B standard and E standard are the exact same intervals, the only difference is low the pitches themselves are, if you were to play Ebon Coast the same way Andy does in E standard, it would sound just like Ebon Coast, only higher. It's the same reason why Andy sometimes plays his songs on different guitars (he's played tight trite night in D standard, and Art of Motion on a baritone, for example), because it's not played any differently, just the pitches are different.
anyone know where I can buy that capo?
That looks liberating getting rid of the other chord shapes.
what kind of capo is that, where can I buy it? thanks!
I spent 2 months to practice this tune and I'm playing it to my roommate lol
you're roommate is lucky i suppose
I ordered a shubb just for this song.
I thing i have to, too :)
link please?
which one? I'm still looking for it, wasted money in few useless capos :')
Where do you get the Capo from ?? What kind of banjo Capo is it ??
adoro você no violão e victor wooten no bass
i wanna learn this. is there a free tab?
I need Tab. Can someone send me it please?
where can buy the capo??
1:53
Hallo. What your guitar name.?
Dang...I literally cannot do the click thing... I'm gonna keep at this and hopefully in a few months it feels less insurmountable !
Gareth Evans! Look him up he does it a lot and has lessons on the slap specifically, he also has an old lesson on it, might need to go to his website for it though
...ELLAS & CRETE salutes you, Mckee!
God, Universe may keep you Well.
...hope we see you... here back home. ELLAS & CRETE.
I am not finding this capo anywhere in india
tuning up for me is like playing russian roulette. I just cringe as I do it. any suggestions out there on how to feel more confident in doing it and not breaking a string.
metalnerd79 try building a set of strings custom at a guitar shop. Drop your gauge of the 5th string by 6-9 and it will lower the tension back to pretty much normal
I like to get that kind of capo. Mine tends to be hard to stay away from the second string.
I happened to find the exact capo, though I didn't realize until I got back to this video with it on my guitar.
@@neaituppi7306 I'm having a hard time trying to find it! Could you please let me know which model is it?
face it touched very well , I of Brazil , but there is one thing , why do not u make a video lesson of this song , 'cause you're not this teaching anything u only touches , u have . that teaches step by step ok . thank you
I shall tune my floyd rose to this.
hahaha man you made me crack up
2:24 im confused, i started to learn the intro (im a complete noob and know nothing abouts notes and stuff sorry :( ) can some one write down how this part is played? his fingers are on 13 and 9, but in most taps there are only 4 strings playerd like 13 4 0 0, but here it looks like hes going back, he does somthing at the end this with his thump, on the E string, but it looks like hes not rly playing it , sry for my englisch here in german in case some german guy is here so i can ask better: ich bin bissl verwirrt, in den meisten tap ist zwar die fingerposition gleich, aber dort steht man solle 13 8 0 0 spielen, aber es sieht für mich so aus als ob der nochmal mit den fingern nach unten geht, und zum abschluss scheint er mit den daumen die E seite nochmal zu spielen, aber irgendwie nur so ganz leicht...leider verstehe ich sachen wie L H und das ganze zeug nicht, selbst wenn ich tied notes hier eingebe und ein lern video schaue ergibt sich mir da keinen richtigen sinn, allerdings glaube ich auch nicht das diese bezeichnungen dazu führen das plötzlich die doppelte menge an noten gespielt werden, deswegen die frage, spielt er hier 13 8 0 0. (8 4 0 0 vom capo aus gezählt) oder macht er hier was anderes? sorry bin anfänger und nachdem ich das intro jetzt im kopf habe beschäftigt mich diese stelle ein wenig
2:16 and do someone have some tips for this part? 12 13 14 has a much smaller area for the fingers and the strings are kinda hard to play, i often get very bad results at this frets
could you help me with 2:14, when his middle finger is at fret 2
I wonder if the guitar neck would be harmed if I rise 5th string from A to C..
I highly doubt it, the string will snap long before any damage to your neck.
If Mr Greenfield made a nylon string version of this guitar, that would be interesting
Who came here just to take a look at that gorgeous guitar?
I feel like Billy Madison trying to learn Spanish from the groundskeeper....”slower”!
For 4 string??
Hi, where to buy this capo?
apparently it's for a banjo..?
It is. It's a shubb banjo capo.
Search for Shubb Banjo capo online.
the tuning is as close to baghdad as u can get
will a regular capo suffice?
Yes, it might slide out sometimes but it should work just fine.
Liana Smith depends on the capo one of mine works great but the other won't do the job capo will work however doing bends with it on can make it slide off. For the longest time I used a standard capo for this song and it worked fine. But I had a problem in the verse part there are some bends/nuances. That would make the capo fly off of my guitar. Best better is to try and acquire a proper capo. Or else it may be more difficult than normal to perfect this song
Where is lesson 2 ?
ua-cam.com/video/39XNFA6-zPk/v-deo.html ;)
Isiit blue weed?
Bro I want to cry I need him to say the chords and say the picking pattern
Tactical Elements223s There is no solid picking pattern, each measure has something different going with the hammer ons and pull-offs mixed with the right hand picking between every beat. Also there are no chords shapes like in normal tuning so it would be redundant and probably harder actually
I need that capo. Mine doesnt work
Turn the capo around. Use it inverted. It works.
I have no idea where to get this strange capo in my city)
Amazon
You can also just use a regular guitar capo. I use a dunlop and it works pretty well.
+idiotwithgunz Ahh I find my regular capo leaves very unpleasant marks on the back of the neck of my guitar D:
Noooo! What happened to him?
2:14 is so hard to see
i wish this video was upside down
It would be useful for any tutorial. Good point, amigo.
Nanny McPhee
My A string broke :'(
who else had to put this at 0.5 or 0.25 speed?
Show Tabs Please!!!!!!!!!!!
Because of this video, I was able to do this - ua-cam.com/video/GRtkKBb07e8/v-deo.html
Huge thanks Andy M ☺️
