I agree and feel the same about this more "original" version of John Buter Trio's "Ocean" ua-cam.com/video/hQjwkXrcUrs/v-deo.html That version does not get the attention it deserves IMO.

It’s taken me 13 years to learn the “easy” first half of this song on guitar. Today was the first time I played it along with the video, and it doesn’t sound terrible!
If you can play the first part half decently then you're not really that far off from being able to play the next section. Yes there are some awkward positionings but it really just takes getting used to. And if you learn how to play that part. Then you won't be far off from playing the outdoors either . There is a great Japanese tutorial for this song. The language doesn't matter because you can see the guitar and follow along with a tabua-cam.com/video/0EcOR6lOMII/v-deo.html
I played this song when I proposed to my wife in Whistler, BC, Canada. On February 20, 2018, she said yes. Today, we are on our patio in our backyard looking out at our pool and slowly dancing to this beautiful song with tears in our eyes. What a cherished moment in time, only brought through these mesmerizing notes. Thank you, Andy. This night belongs to you.
Dude, fuck yeah... That's awesome. congrats to you and your wife. Jam on! P.S. Wish me luck with this awesome woman I just met only three weeks ago... She really gets me (and I her) and makes me want to be a better version of myself every day (I know. cheesy, but who cares, lol)

No worries about the video quality, no sponsored ad segments, no needless narration or introductions. Just pure and simple music I downloaded to my PSP so I could listen to it on my commute, back when only homes had WiFi.
Saw him play this live this past Saturday night. Towards the end of his set. I cried a bit. Reminds me of college when I first heard the song. And I know what the songs about of course. It was emotional to see him play it after all these years.
2022 and still coming back to hear this perfect piece of music. I tell my wife all the time that I don’t care what happens when I die, just play this song at my funeral. It has brought me peace so many times in my life. You’re amazing, Andy!!

Today is December 25, 2020 and still listening to this. The very first time I heard Rylynn was way back in 2010. This song always calms me whenever I feel down, and still is. One of the beautiful song I've ever heard.
This song literally moved me to tears less than 30 seconds into it! This is one of those pieces of music that just has power to move you and make you feel emotion! Can’t believe I had never heard it until my boyfriend showed me a couple weeks ago!
I listened this rhythm for more than 1000 times in past nine years. Every time I started to listen I just couldn't help to stop my tears. I'm not a guy who love cry. I just love the emotion in the rhythm.
I still remember 7 years ago my brother sent this song to me via bluetooth and I couldn't stop myself listening to this again and again. Good old days...

I just want to say I remembered all those long nights not knowing my future what is going to be. Thank you Andy McKee, your music helped me emotionally and mentally going into a tough times of my life.
Hope you did't kill people to the tune of this song. Being a soldier following the orders of the rich classes of your country is disgraceful and should not be awarded as much brainless respect as it is in the US.
I've listened to this song countless times since it's upload and to this day,I (personally) think this could well be the best sounding, finger style composition and performance out there (arguably, obviously). The entire song, note for note, string for string,is just fantastic and angelic.I doubt Mr.Mckee is reading this but,I would just like to say thank you for gracing us with this piece.
***** Thanks for making all these amazing songs! Whenever someone asks me who my favorite guitarist I always say "Andy McKee" haha. You've inspired me to make my own youtube channel too :) I was playing Drifting one day and one of my friends found it so cool and I couldn't help but laugh as I played!
I saw him in concert years ago, and he wrote this song in memory of a friends daughter who passed away at the age of 4yr. I appreciate the beauty of this song having been inspired by the loss of a loved one... quite moving.
Congrats Andy on having 33M views for this song. It's a testament to how much respect there really is for the instrument, and most of all, your mastery of it.
I remember listening to this song when I was 14 and thinking it was so beautiful. It helped me calm down, fall asleep, clear my mind before a sporting event/test, and lift me up when I was feeling low. Turning 30 this year and I still listen to it all the time, and probably will until I can't anymore! Thank you Andy for creating such a beautiful piece of music.
We're about the same age. This track brings me back to the golden era of UA-cam. Numa Numa guy, unregistered hypercam, angry video game reviews... The soundtrack to every other video was either "Bodies" by Drowning Pool, "Paralyzer" by Finger Eleven, or 009 Sound System. If I keep writing any more, I'll likely start weeping of nostalgia.
It’s my favorite song since I graduated high school, every time I feel sad I would listen to it. And he must have a beautiful spirit to make this song. Thank you.
I was in college when I first heard this masterpiece. Now I'm 33 and still go back to this wonderful piece to help me relax and chill. I see myself listening to this every now and then until I die. Thank you so much Andy for sharing your art!
I'm revisiting this song after almost 15 years, and i still remember the first time listening to this, sitting next to my parents bedroom at our old PC. I was completely blown away that someone could play guitar this good (since i started playing guitar at that age), had goosebumps everywhere and loved it instantly. I dont even know how this crossed my mind right now, it just did and now im listening, with a genuine smile on my face and really wet eyes - thanks for the sweet memories Andy, these were good times back then and i will remember this one for the rest of my live - at least i hope
I’m 30 now and I’ve listened to his music since I was 12 and discovered his videos on UA-cam! Such a great mix of nostalgia and things I’ll never be able to do with a guitar!
Had the lucky privilege of seeing him live at the Iowa State Univ. M-shop in what I think was 2008 since Gates of Gnomeria had just come out. Maybe 75 people there, and I spent the whole show with my mouth gaping open. I specifically remember him playing Rylynn and Africa, which just blew me away. His melodies evoke such specific emotions that I don’t think any other artist I’ve heard comes even close to.
This song is a gift to everyone appreciating beauty in music! Been listening to this for years and years and it just doesn't get old and you can never tire of it. Thank you Andy, this song is pure beauty and filled to the brim with emotion......
This is a piece I will go back to listening no matter year or how old the track is. It is a timeless tune. I've loved it since I first heard it some 12 years ago and it's still as fresh as back then. Marvelous tune, moving me every time I listen to it.
This is my favourite song. I transposed this when I was taking piano lessons and would go back to it. I've watched thie video numerous times and the rhythm and melody is just heartfelt, beautiful and sweet. The dedication of the song as well is full of meaning.
Man! I was exactly 18 yo, when i first saw this exact video and was mesmerized. Tried to play then and failed. But now im a dad with two girls and this has been our bedtime routine songs. My first daughter knows the tune by heart!
There have been 11 years when i first listen to this wonderfull piece, i have put it on my phone as music voice mail, my girl friend was complaining that it was long and costs much every time, so i removed it after dozens of calls, my girl friend died few months later, and i did not heard this music since then, untill today 25/08/2020.. RIP Sheerazad, i ll never forget you :(
Maaann! I used to listen to Andy Mckee and the other Candyrat Records guitarists, and the places I'd go in my mind while listening to these tracks as a kid made life feel absolutely magical. Fresh meadows with godly sunsets, gorgeous livings rooms in houses i'd imagine with sunrays pouring through the windows illuminating the room filled with plants of differing sizes. My heart exudes peace and love and yet the feeling somehow was sad, giving it all a touch of tears that made relief feel so bittersweet. Idk if any of this makes sense but man, I still love it these songs like I did before. Thanks again Candyrat (from 17 years later).
This song brings back so many fond memories, it’s absolutely pure and peaceful. If I had only one song to listen to ever this would be my choice without hesitation. Thank you Andy for creating this beautiful work of art and passion!

Dosen't matter the year. There will always be people listening. A true classic!
16 years later. Still a banger. Best guitarist of our time and it’s not even close.
It's nourishment for your soul. This man weeps peace, love and joy with every bend of the strings

お疲れさまでした。いい気持ちですね、頑張って探すことが報うってこと。いつでもゆっくり聴いて癒されてくださいね
Had the lucky privilege of seeing him live at the Iowa State Univ. M-shop in what I think was 2008 since Gates of Gnomeria had just come out. Maybe 75 people there, and I spent the whole show with my mouth gaping open. I specifically remember him playing Rylynn and Africa, which just blew me away. His melodies evoke such specific emotions that I don’t think any other artist I’ve heard comes even close to.
To think that Prince saw this on UA-cam and liked it so much that he reached out to Andy and had him open for him in Australia...
zamardii12 Awesome info, man. :)
i too once road a unicorn.
It’s been 13 years since I’ve heard this masterpiece. Still does it. I hope I can see Andy McKee play Live here in the Philippines
I can’t believe it’s been 17 years since the first time I saw this video! Still as good as it ever was!
Heard this song for the first time over a decade ago, and still listen to it regularly. It is a stunning piece of art.
Same. I'll never get tired of this, nor Don Ross' Tight Trite Night.
At least every few months. Absolutely amazing.
This man inspired a huge dive into my musical career. Keep on playing Andy!
10 years and still love this..
Watching this in 2018 and it’s even more beautiful
It's so refreshing after listening to a lot of popular music of today
Any Lowden F-body is a serious piece; absolutely drop-dead gorgeous instruments. Andy, you play the heck out of that thing!
This song soothed my soul when literally nothing else could, about 13 years ago... and I feel the same kind of peace from it.
Thank you, brother🙏.
it's so nostalgic, i used to watch this video time and time again
most beautiful song in the world. i'm still hearing and forever
Man! I was exactly 18 yo, when i first saw this exact video and was mesmerized. Tried to play then and failed. But now im a dad with two girls and this has been our bedtime routine songs. My first daughter knows the tune by heart!
So thank you Andy for composing this beautiful song!
13 anos e continua tão absurdamente incrivel quanto é possivel ser! Um genio na minha opinião!
RIP Sheerazad, i ll never forget you :(
That's heavy my friend.
@@danielb3028 Thanks my friend, it is heavy, indeed :(
I feel it
Man this song is so good just pure pure talent loved it 10 years ago and still gives me chills listening too...a truly great musician
Andy Mckee always has a special place in my heart. Hope your well brotha!
That outro is the most creative thing I’ve ever heard. Those dissonant sounds harmonize so beautiful
its been a decade and this is still the most beautiful thing Ive ever heard, thank you andy.
2019, thirteen years, and it's still ethereal
2023, still awesome, and for the years to come. Forever a masterpiece.
10 year ago I was so in love and accidentally found this song. It still takes me back and awakes those butterflies!
Reminds me of simpler times of my youth when listening to this.
Serene, positive, bittersweet, and beautiful.
