I´ve been listening to this song since I was 18, now I´m 27. Always new, always better. Keeps me moving. It touches my soul every single time. So many emotions and memories inside of it
Mr McKee, I want you to know my wife an I named my daughter “Rylynn Grace” because of the beauty and how graceful you play this song. Thank you 🫡. You’ve been a major influence on my guitar playing.
sir.... my daughter is named after this composition. jan 13 2019 I became a father for the first time in my life. the only thing my wife and I could think that was as beautiful as our new daughter was this song.. so Rylynn Grace was introduced to this world. thank you. 5 years later and it still couldnt be more perfect for her
i will never forget going to see tommy emmanuael when i was a kid and them saying we have a guest playing tonight please welcome andy Mckee and being completly overwhelmed as i was obsessed with him as a guitar fanatic kid . I met him after the gig and to this day treasure the signed album he gave me. Listening to this song on top of the mountains in switzerland was one of the most profound moments of my life :) Thanks for inspiring a lifetime of guitar and music Andy you will always be a huge inspiration to me cheers for the beautiful music.
Today I just read the story behind this song. Honestly, I see this song very differently now, it touches the bottom of my heart and my feelings. I feel the purity, the innocence and the gentleness of this little girl in every note, every chord... Her fight against the illness and her rise to paradise. It mades me fall in love with this song even more. These 6 minutes are just the representation and the evolution of the 2 years of Rylynn's life. Thank you Andy, to put your feelings in this masterpiece and to share it with us, and Rest In Peace Rylynn. ♥
This is just the most gorgeous song I've ever heard. I've had the pleasure to see Andy McKee live and hear him perform this song. Just absolutely fabulous! And Andy is one of the most gracious people you will ever meet. If you ever have an opportunity to see him perform live, buy the tickets, get the sitter or bring the kids. It is well worth it!
I've always prayed to have this level of raw talent 🤯 not only does he write his own original pieces, but he performs so flawlessly that it doesn't even sound real!
First time listener in 2019. To all those who are down, just know that there's a light at the end of the tunnel and it's not a train. You were put here for a purpose, grace us with your presents. Live and laugh freely and most importantly love, You are blessed to do so.
Found Andy and this melody back in 2008 I think. Browsing around on UA-cam and by pure coincidence this one popped up. Stayed with Andy ever since listening to his strong melodies. They tell stories with using words! Thanks for the music Andy!
I met Andy McKee a few months ago (and Jon Gomm and Preston Reed) and they all signed my guitar strap. It's now my prized posession! I'm naming my new guitar Rylynn after this song (not the same as all the people naming their children it, but i'm only 16!) He is incredible live, go if you ever get the chance!
this is the reason i keep believing true music will exist forever because even if these days u have "im awesome , i have expensive cars, all the chicks love me and u better not mess with me" every once in a while u get to listen to something amazing as this
looks like not a lot of people know that Rylynn was a little girl who died from an undiagnosed illness, and that's why Andy dedicated this song to her.
I saw Andy play at the Kessler Theater in Dallas on 11-22-2013. He told the audience that Rylynn was the song Prince heard that resulted in Andy playing several dates with Price in Australia. He played the harmonic section of this piece (starting about 4:28 in the video) extremely quietly. There were about 150-200 people in attendance and you could hear a pin drop. He had the total attention of EVERY person attending. Those of you that have performed on stage with an acoustic instrument understand that total silence from your audience in a quiet moment like this is equal to a standing ovation. It was an incredible moment. If you get a chance to see this man play in person GO! You'll not be disappointed.
Several years ago i was on a work trip, i believe in texas, found out by pure chance andy was there in the same town doing a show the night before. I was bumbed i missed it, hopefully one day i will catch a live show and check off a bucket list item!
i don't usaly cry, at ANYTHING!!, apart from anything to do with my dad or my brothers.........*wipes away a tear* but this reminds me of them *gives up on wiping tears because there are too many* so, Andy McKee, is i dare say so, is one of the most talented guitar artists out there *has used up a full box of tissues*
we used this song in our wedding in 2010 when we did a candle light tribute to our grandparents that had passed away before but still wanted them to be a part of our day. When we heard this song and learned of the inspiration behind it, we knew we had to use it.
The best guitar song ever. This song attracted many people to doing fingerstyle like me . I m listening for years and it 'a still gives the same feelings as first day.
thank you for clearing that up. im sure your daughter up there loves the song really much, just like we did. rest in peace, she must have been very lovely
Its still one of the most AWESOME GUITAR SONGS EVER I was 16 when I first heard this and 13 years later its STILL AWESOME!!!! Timeless Guitar Song!!!!!!!!
I think I prefer the older video. It gives more fierce feel, as if the writer has lost something precious, while this one is more calm and peaceful. But his skill seems better in this video though. Still, I Love AndyMckee's sound :)
I'm not sure what the intention of this so was but for it has always spoken of the unsureness and wondering what going going to happen of a pregnancy and then the beautiful birth of a daughter then the slaps representing the hiccups along the way and then the peaceful ending of a job mostly well done as a parent. and a reminder that little girls will always be that after they leave. Thank you, Andy. I will play this at her wedding. much love from South Africa.
11 Years have passed since the first Rylynn Video... I grew up, got married, and I'm still listening today March 2018. And I'm still playing My Guitar hoping one day I can get a little close to this Master piece!!
It's a shame that such a talented artist has to rely on advertisements & media platforms like Vevo to gain revenue for music which should have sustained his family for generations. If you ever came to England, I know at least 30 people that would happily pay to see you live! I've been following your work for about 6 years now and thankfully have it for the rest of my life, who wouldn't want to pay for that!? Well done Andy, glad to see more videos and new songs coming up all of the time! :D
Five years ago, this was the first video i ever Favorited. Since then I have yet to find a more beautiful and creative song on guitar. Truly outstanding, must have watched it well over 100 times.
How could anyone ever dislike this?? This is 6 minutes of my life I'll never want back. His playing is superb. So amazing and technical while the tones are gorgeously soft and appealing. So incredible.
I agree, the original is better.. but there is white noise throughout the whole recording (subtle in the background). That's probably why he did this one, and the piece is still a beautiful one. Check out this paper on the piece people.uwec.edu/walkerjs/mathematicsandmusic/Nav/PDFfiles/RylynnPaper.pdf I looked that up after seeing Shock PC's post.
No neither versions are engineered, the one from 2006 is my favorite personally as well it just sounds best. But. This version is something you wouldn't understand unless you play guitar and realize how much more feel hes putting into this one. When you're a guitarist and you play the same song over and over and over and over and you love it you eventually end up changing it straight from from your soul(sorry no other phrase i can use therelol) You can see it as hes playing hes so into it versus the 2006 version is more or less a mainstream original. This song means a lot to him and hes expressing that in the way hes playing it, adding delays here and skipping or adding certain notes etc etc, that's what you're seeing here. again 2006 is alltime fav, buts its nice to appreciate this one for what it is.
I´ve been listening to this song since I was 18, now I´m 27. Always new, always better. Keeps me moving. It touches my soul every single time. So many emotions and memories inside of it
+Ruth Felissa Mendoza Ballesteros i can't believe it's been 10 years since the first time..

i used to watch his original video back in 2006. i cannot believe it’s 2024 and im 46 years old. i want to be 28 again, change a few things. ♥️
Finally found the title of this masterpiece.
Same dude. I've been searching for years
Same here. Finally!
One of the best compositions of XXI century. Thank you Andy, God bless you.
This is a rare 'forever song'. It simply doesn't wear out. Not a single note fails to shimmer and shine through time.
My wife walked down the aisle to this song at our wedding.
The most heart breaking fingerstyle melody on the planet. An absolute masterpiece.
rylynn is one of the best acoustic song ever made..i wish Andy could write new songs like this..
..
i will never forget going to see tommy emmanuael when i was a kid and them saying we have a guest playing tonight please welcome andy Mckee and being completly overwhelmed as i was obsessed with him as a guitar fanatic kid . thats awesome.
wow!!! that's amazing.
What a decade it’s been since I heard this amazing artwork. Through life’s ups and downs this song is always here just the same, unchanged perfection.
Today I just read the story behind this song. Honestly, I see this song very differently now, it touches the bottom of my heart and my feelings. I feel the purity, the innocence and the gentleness of this little girl in every note, every chord...

I don’t know if it gets more beautiful than this song. What a song to dedicate to someone that’s passed away
This is just the most gorgeous song I've ever heard. I've had the pleasure to see Andy McKee live and hear him perform this song. Just absolutely fabulous! I used to feed my newborn twin girls sitting in this very spot listening to Andy on UA-cam. They're 9 now. Damn how the time flies.
absolutely brilliant...
+1
tiens c'est marrant de vous voir ici ;) une petite reprise ?
still here at 29 years old! i been listening to this song since it came out!!!!
This song touches my soul. After 12 years I am still in love!
Watched this with 16 years... Now im 30 and back here.. like a travel in time..
Going into 2022 and this still doesn’t get old! Masterpiece!
Found Andy and this melody back in 2008 I think. Browsing around on UA-cam and by pure coincidence this one popped up. Stayed with Andy ever since listening to his strong melodies. They tell stories with using words! Thanks for the music Andy!
The story behind this song is absolutely heartbreaking.
Been listening to this song for almost 2 decades!, Amazing.
Andy is not playing. He is making love with that fucking guitar. Ive never see somebody playing like this. U can realy feel the music while he plays
Well said...
So true..
Wht abt Tommy Emmanual ?
Tommy is the best in my opinion. igor and shunga jung are pretty good too but.. tommy is the king in this shit :D
Well, I would say Steve Vai playing Tender Surrender is more like making out.
THIS SONG IS SO GOD DAMN BEAUTIFUL
God.....what i would give to experience Andy Mckee for the first time again...
been heard it since 2007, one of the best guitar songs ever

I first heard this song in my early teens. Now I'm 31, never gets old.
you can hear the passion come trought the note
That doesn't stop her of being lucky of such a song.
She will be remembered, and forever loved in her family's and Andy's minds.
such a beautiful song I listen to this before I sleep!
this is the reason i keep believing true music will exist forever
because even if these days u have "im awesome , i have expensive cars, all the chicks love me and u better not mess with me"

looks like not a lot of people know that Rylynn was a little girl who died from an undiagnosed illness, and that's why Andy dedicated this song to her.
Knowing this definitely changes how I look at this song now. I have a deeper understanding of the emotion behind the song. Thanks.
Shock PC Thanks man
I just know this when Andy told this in another video
Thank you for the back story.
Blessed be the angel.
Was just thinking "Rylynn, that's a pretty name," scrolling through the comments. Aww.... And what a beautiful song.
Hope you still have a good day in your life,, 13 years ago this song really makes my day..
I saw Andy play at the Kessler Theater in Dallas on 11-22-2013. He told the audience that Rylynn was the song Prince heard that resulted in Andy playing several dates with Price in Australia. RIP 5th string 2015-2016, Cause of death: C
Yea you need to use thinner strings (I use 12s) or have a short scale length. That C is never not scary.
I'm quite satisfactory with A# already so no worries.
+Bear Grass For playing this song, I used 11's
I don't get it. Can you explane, please?
The tuning for this song requires you to tune the A string up to a C
I forget how completely beautiful this song was and still is.
Legitimately one of the most beautiful and powerful melodies + arrangement of all time
You can watch. Alif ba ta. He is one of gitaris fingerstyle like andy mckey. I hope they colaborate together.
Finally got to hear this song live in London and made my day. Beautiful song
finally learned to play most of it. Aah what satisfaction!
I seriously love that fret-board. It's so original and stylish...
I've finally got my level up to learn this, huge bucket list moment!
this belongs to the kindest songs ever written ! fairy tale soundtrack
love from greece Andy come here !!
genius. have listened to this for years now and will always enjoy this song
This one has a special place in my heart
He dedicated the song to some family friends' daughter who passed away. He named the song after her.
i don't usaly cry, at ANYTHING!!, apart from anything to do with my dad or my brothers.........*wipes away a tear* but this reminds me of them *gives up on wiping tears because there are too many* so, Andy McKee, is i dare say so, is one of the most talented guitar artists out there *has used up a full box of tissues*
This is sill my favorite piece of instrumental music. Gotta love it
we used this song in our wedding in 2010 when we did a candle light tribute to our grandparents that had passed away before but still wanted them to be a part of our day. When we heard this song and learned of the inspiration behind it, we knew we had to use it.
멋있는곡이네요
This song is absolutely timeless. Thanks Mr. McKee

Krasi Manka do you meet a cut capo?
Now i know why this is kai favorite😍😍😍
The best guitar song ever. This song attracted many people to doing fingerstyle like me . I m listening for years and it 'a still gives the same feelings as first day.
Love this version . Slow tempo
Slower tempo with better harmonics than the Candyrat version, although Candyrat version has a faster tempo and has a better sound though.
thank you for clearing that up. im sure your daughter up there loves the song really much, just like we did. rest in peace, she must have been very lovely
진짜 좋다... ㅠㅠㅠㅠ 듣고있으면 잡생각이 사라지는 느낌 ㅜㅜ

Its still one of the most AWESOME GUITAR SONGS EVER I was 16 when I first heard this and 13 years later its STILL AWESOME!!!! Timeless Guitar Song!!!!!!!!
June 11th 2019, anyone else?
June 15th 2019. Still gets better every time I hear it.
Heard this one the year it was uploaded. Here I am 12 years later, I and I love it a little more now.
People like Andy deserve all the money in the world
I think I prefer the older video. It gives more fierce feel, as if the writer has lost something precious, while this one is more calm and peaceful. But his skill seems better in this video though. Still, I Love AndyMckee's sound :)
+Lance Ixidorr In the older videos, it looks like andy's dad playing lol...
it's the opposite, his skills were a loto better in the old video
I'm not sure what the intention of this so was but for it has always spoken of the unsureness and wondering what going going to happen of a pregnancy and then the beautiful birth of a daughter then the slaps representing the hiccups along the way and then the peaceful ending of a job mostly well done as a parent. and a reminder that little girls will always be that after they leave. The frets are like that because they are fanned frets which help intonation across the neck.
13 years ago I heard drifting, thanks for all you do.
It's good, but I preferred the old video...
The music of Andy is awesome!!! Come to Argentina, please!!!
152 people snapped there 5th string.....
why whats it tuned to?
Yeah I made that mistake once. Now, I just tune the whole thing half a step lower and problem solved :-)
Snapped it about 3 times... *sigh*
PinguFan360 the 5th string is tuned UP to a C
jeffw245 that's a nice idea
Five years ago, this was the first video i ever Favorited. Since then I have yet to find a more beautiful and creative song on guitar. Truly outstanding, must have watched it well over 100 times.
if two of my fingers were as talented as his least talented finger, i'd be a happy guitarist.
How could anyone ever dislike this?? This is 6 minutes of my life I'll never want back. His playing is superb. So amazing and technical while the tones are gorgeously soft and appealing. So incredible.
Something's off here, could be the microphone. The original, old one he's done sounds much better.
or perhaps the older vids were edited, equalized to bring out the clarity
One of the most beautiful pieces of music ever created. You did right by that girl. R.I.P. I hope you know that
나 1빠>
Kai favorite😍
This is a very healing song
I actually prefer the candy rat recording…
So do I though this has better sound quality.
Jakob Strand true
Same. The volume balance is off on this recording
The microphone is way too far away from him in this one.
Still my ALL TIME FAVORITE instrumental song of all time! Love it ❤
дислайкнули 88 реперов что ли?
did this song for my year12 hsc and loved every second of it
cause im so sick of love songs, is this His song and Neo just took from him...or what
That quick slide back at 4:03 I love
This slide is like the small things in life you only realize when they're not there.
The video from 2006 is better has a better sounding guitar IMO
Cuz that one Is engineered
Dear God that slide back at 4:03 is just unbelievablely perfect. I love how he changes it and only does it once
