- Halloween is here (kinda) and I for one am excited to revisit the stories of the past. Nickelodeon was one of the best stations to handle Halloween when I was young, and I want to check back up on all the best Nickelodeon Halloween Specials. From Spongebob Squarepants, to Cry Baby Lane!

@Knock Out President Dwayne Elizondo Mountain Dew Herbert Camacho 😁
I'm recommending President Merkin Muffley just so you can talk about Dr. Strangelove. Also Laura Roslin from Battlestar Galactica, because I've never watched the show.
Funny Valentine from JoJo's Bizarre Adventure part 7, Steel Ball Run
will you do more videos on lost media?
wheres our gorefield video quinton? where is it?
A great example of "everyone thinks she's ugly because she's wearing glasses and her hair is in a ponytail"
Man I wish more people actually looked like that though, it's unironically adorable
Toko from Danganronpa is another example.
Lmao that’s my look on an average day. I don’t get why it’s a stereotype of a person being not pretty.
@@levi_octavian haha prove it maybe?? lol jk.. unless
Me, currently wearing glasses, and has my hair in a ponytail: 👁👄👁
Children's horror is one of my favorite subgerne's, just because they can't usually get super gorey or kill of to many characters-if anyone, and have to get creative with how they make things scary. Even if a lot of it isn't very frightening they usually succeed in at least making a very aesthetically pleasing holiday special.
It can get annoying for me to see them not put violence even when it would be appropriate, but it’s also probably because I’m a big fan of slashers and body horror (and regular psychological horror). I do like Goosebumps a lot though, I think it can be genuinely haunting if done well.
Check out the channel PushingUpRoses, shes made a few videos about children's horror
@@Dogy0909 same, tho we can agree it's better than how most modern horror movies rely way too heavily on jumpscares to be scary
@@th3rasave Id agree up until last year, because even Blumhouse have upped the quality control tbh. A recent example, Invisible Man was great. Freaky looks like a fun horror comedy and I like the premise of one upcoming film, it’s a demon that uses electricity to move around, can’t remember the title.
@@Dogy0909 oh I agree, which is why I said MOST
My sister memorized every line of the Graveyard Shift for a contest. It had very few characters so she could play them all simply by turning in a certain direction to indicate who was about to speak. I helped her memorize her lines, so I did, too. I've forgotten a lot of it but I still know several lines pretty well.
I think I could recite that episode from memory to this day.
I'll remember Sandy's Texas song until I'm dead.
I love Halloween
wait did she win the contest??
"I Was A Teenage Gary" technically is a Halloween special: It's the b-episode to Scaredy Pants.
but have you seen them both aired on TV recently?
exactly, checkmate Spongebob fans.
I always loved I Was a Teenage Gary
@@JeskidoYT Actually I have :) When it was in October I did
Yup it was a 3 episode of Halloween 🎃 👻 episode of sponge bob when squids ward was pretending to be a ghost 👻 to use sponge bob and Patrick as slaves a teenage Gary and scarey pants 🎃
That transition between the bootleg footage of Crybaby Lane to the official re-airing was beautifully done, excellent editing, man!
He should've also included the splat airing.
The boy who cried Ware Wolf honestly feels like Nick trying to make their own version of My Babysitter is a Vampire.(anyone remember that)
Oh yeah totally. I feel the ending of the boy who cried wolf was leading off to a potential series. But for some reason they never made it. While babysitter is a vampire did. Personally, I rather have the boy who cried wolf than the babysitter one.
I really liked My Babysitter is a Vampire
I remember that... I don't remember many specific episodes but I remember being interested.
The boy who cried werewolf and my babysitter is a vampire movie released in the same month (I did look this up because I thought The Boy who cried werewolf came out first) so I think there just halloween movies that are vaguely similar.
It must have been a budget thing. That looks pretty pricey for a TV show, especially in 2010.
The fact that so many people remember bits of the episodes wrong explains how folkloric tales change as they are retold.
Woah so deep
Are you sure it's not ThE mAnDeLa EfFeCt?
@@SuperRat420 no one said it was deep... its just kind of interesting
Do other people remember having seen the same bits Quotnin describes? Please comment if so.
I am personally attributing what he describes as a product of the fact that humans have reconstructive memory.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reconstructive_memory
"In this manner, the various features of the experience must be joined together to form a coherent representation of the episode.[3] If this binding process fails, it can result in memory errors. The complexity required for reconstructing some episodes is quite demanding and can result in incorrect or incomplete recall."
Basically, your brain doesn't store everything in an event, but crucial parts and rebuilds (reconstructs) the memory every time. So if you misremember something (because you forgot some element over time, I guess) as true, you will continue to remember that new element as always being true.
Reconstructive memory is like playing telephone with yourself every time you try to remember something.
@@sewershaman3280 his name sounds like it's deep
The part where Quinton says “one of the babies comes down with a sickness” and then quietly puts in the Disturbed “Ooo-ah-ah-ah-ah” in the background got a laugh out of me.
"Filming dead bodies is a great way to start a creative career." So THAT'S where the Paul brothers got the idea!
Wasn’t that only Logan though? And I’ve heard through the grapevine that he’s not a total shit anymore, so y’know..
D The Australian d’angelo wallace’s video?
Logan Paul filmed a dead career and he still has an Applebee's.
@@LambSeed
D'Angelo Wallace's video, yes.
The Graveyard Shift episode was so influential that one year my local movie theater was playing Nosferatu and all of my friends thought he was just from spongebob! 🤣
The soft 'oh wa-a-ah' as you went over the plot for crybaby lane was amazing and it's the little things like that that help make your videos so great
16:39 Funny enough, Squidward's Suicide was actually referenced in a modern spongebob episode, I forgot the name of the episode but spongebob and squidward were at this place full of doors and squidward opened a for which showed his room and then static appearance before being a jump scare of a Squidward with red eyes and black tears.
The episode is SpongeBob in RandomLand
Quinton: *spends half the video talking about Spongebob*
Also Quinton: *doesn't even mention Invader Zim*
O SHIT U RITE
Profile pic checks out
Yes
Fr fr like the halloween special is probably one of the best episodes of the series, like it was SO interesting to see the nightmare realm, as well as Dib going to a psych ward, like wow.
@sir skrunkly the 2th Yes, the one with the "Halloweenies".
That butterfly episode from SpongeBob is the scariest moment from any Nickelodeon property.
*Debate me on that.*
No need to.
I would but YOUR RIGHT
The Gorilla suit guy very much freaked out my little brother
you're wrong. theres only one scene that's actually scary in the whole episode and that's the closeup shot of the butterfly. nothing else.
Out of all of Nickelodeon? No. Out of all of Spongebob? Yes. We can't talk about scary Nickelodeon moments until we talk about the tapeworm from Mr. Meaty.
13:03 So I guess you could call it a .......
Meat Cute
clap
Ooohhhh
Oh my God, if that was in any way intentional, that's hilarious.
Otherwise, the pun police have been notified. This pun can't go unpunished.
"Starts off like an old creepypasta." Ya know, Quinton, back in the day, we just called those "urban legends."
When Quinton said coming down with the sickness I went oh wa a a a And I had to rewind because I thought I heard that in the video. And when I did I just bursted out laughing
Speaking of Victoria Justice , does anyone remember Nickelodeon Fun Size , the odd theatrical PG-13 Teen comedy that no one really talks about?
i remember it existed, don’t remember anything about it’s story.
I really liked it I thought it was very cute
@@ocj1313 Same. I remember the name and what I think are flashes of the movie, but have no idea what it was actually about.
I remember it was a thing
I actually did see that in theaters. Pretty forgettable I thought, but still probably enough material for a decent video
I would love to make a hardcore adults' horror remake of Cry Baby Lane that really capitalizes on how messed up the implications of the film are but don't get to explore because it's for kids.
When I saw you were reviewing The Boy Who Cried Werewolf I got so excited because this movie lowkey had a lasting impact on me.
Same here xP
I'm DELIGHTED that you talked about The Boy Who Cried Werewolf and how it's actually?? really fucking good??? I was a werewolf-obsessed 13-year-old in 2010, so you can imagine how I imprinted on it like a baby duck, but I revisited it a couple years ago when I found the movie on Netflix and was absolutely blindsided by how much I enjoyed it as an adult. It's become one of my yearly Halloween watches!
Like, the fact that they find the secret hidden laboratory behind the bookshelf because they're looking for the Wi-Fi router, and it opens with a universal remote? A sensible chuckle as a young teen, a full-body laugh as a twenty-something.
The spongebob episode “Procrastination” also had a couple scenes that were cut, though they still are found on the DVD. There was one live action bit of a race car crash and then there’s a part where Patrick is massaging Sandy’s shoulders
The Flying Dutchman "runs away"
Also I heard the gas explosion scene was cut because of 9/11.
which doesn't make sense as the premiere date for that episode was October 1, 2001.
If that was the case, that scene would've chopped up right before that due date, just like nearly all other media inadvertently referencing the Twin Towers in some capacity.
Happy Halloween
The scene where Victoria Justice walked to her date with the boots and the leather jacket doing flips and shit was my gay awakening.
7:27 it's definitely the idea of slowly turning into a snail, junji ito made a whole ass manga series about it.
Spongebob inspired Junji is something I didnt my expect.
"Sexy Man Drops Large Meat on Vegetarian" I am going to check a certain site for that. Because I feel like it has to be there.
I can hear the dialogue... "What? I didn't order a *large sausage* , I'm a vegetarian!" "Oh baby, I've turned plenty of vegetarians into carnivores..."
I'm a younger spongebob fan, so I remember owning the DVD of that one episode where squidward & spongebob get fused together and hijinks ensue, but on my copy it ends with squidward fused with every major character in the show in a big fleshy lump. Apparently that got cut out on subsequent airings.
Hi Patricia! Love your stuff, seriously!
"It all started... when I was born" is still the most relatable line of a tv show I've ever heard
I caught that “down with the sickness” reference...
Of course. Quinton IS down with the thiccness, after all
Halloween
Came looking for this comment
man this just reminds me that most invader zim episodes were written as straight up horror to the best of the writers ability to stay within the censors (according to the artbook, that is)
Did you just start a bet with Big Joel, the most powerful sweater wearer in the universe?
I’ve never even heard of Crybaby Lane before.
the point you raise about our childhood memories of a story or a film being different than what it was actually is very interesting. I remember reading about a study someone did about the way adults remember fairytales while also talking to them about their own childhood experiences and it's really interesting stuff, I remember a specific example about a woman being interviewed who distinctly remembered that Gretel in ''Hansel and Gretel'' executed most of the plot under directions from her brother and had very little agency overall.
The little snippet of Down With The Sickness playing during the Crybaby Lane plot recap was PERFECT
My favorite Halloween episode is actually a Dia de Los Muertos episode from the show El Tigre. Haven't seen it in years, but I watched it a few times as a kid.
Yeah, seeing Squidward as a snail is quite cursed
8:20 I also remember that scene being much longer, and I figured out the reason why is because it's very similar to the part where they accuse Bubble Buddy of cleaning a long list of things. And my imagination of that scene is that it was the long list of things Bubble Buddy cleaned.
WHA- IT'S OUT?!?! QUINTON I'M STILL RECOVERING FROM THE LAST ONE!!!!
I know
Hi qw00pz
@@evan5796 hi evan!!!
Someone send him the modern Spongebob Squidward's Suicide reference
I'm glad you covered Crybaby Lane, because I've never heard of it before right now. Thanks for that.
The biggest issue with how great Quinton is, is that when I need my fix of my boi, I have to watch old stuff because he is too busy researching the newest video.
I was never allowed to watch nick as a kid so watching these videos are always like exploring a different culture it’s fun.
The subtle down with the sickness joke is lowkey the funniest part in this entire video because I wasn't expecting it
I can't believe it, Quinton is actually lately for a holiday special this time!!! Great job man!!!
I've never been disappointed to be ALREADY subscribed to someone.
Also, that Down With The Sickness joke was hilarious.
Ah finally it feels like the Halloween season to me. It really didn't feel like the season to me probably because i can't go Trick or treating as a lame ass adult and the beer virus is still here but thankfully the Halloween theme videos are starting to get uploaded on people's channels
Oh my god, that werewolf movie is using costumes from the Underworld movies and it’s like a diet Ginger Snaps.
Your message about the value of remembering something by the impression it had on us as kids reminded me a lot of a great Marcel Proust quote:
"Poets claim that we recapture for a moment the self that we were long ago when we enter some house or garden in which we used to live in our youth. But these are most hazardous pilgrimages, which end as often as not in disappointment as in success. It is in ourselves that we should rather seek to find those fixed places, contemporaneous with different years."
That subtle "oo yaa ah ah ah" got me good
Halloween is, of course, my favorite, but this year has been so depressing that I wasn't even excited. This video made me actually remember why this season was always so special to me. Thanks, man. I needed this.
Aw hell yeah! I wasnt expecting thia video so soon!
Ok. I need this iCarly review rn
My personal opinion is that it was a great show especially how it was about making videos online. Each character had their own personality and arch through the whole series. Yes some parts were cringey seen today but many if the jokes still hold up today
The Adventures of Pete and Pete episode Halloweenie is my favorite Halloween episode of all time. Also, I saw CryBaby Lane when it originally aired and really liked it a lot. It was weird to find out it was lost media at one point. I watched the re-airing in 2011 and it still held up for me. I should watch it again this year.
Well, I'm almost a year late, but just had to say that I also love Pete and Pete and the Halloweenie episode is awesome. I also love that that Nona's dad is the musician, Iggy Pop and that they had so many great musician cameos on the show.
Just when I was about to start binging Quinton's videos, he puts out a new one. Good timing.
"...down with a sickness..."
I heard what you did there!
Surprised how quickly you put this together! Loving it so far!
"I Was a Teenaged Gary" legit gave me nightmares for years and nobody I knew ever saw it
Holy fucking shit. I'm having a nostalgia flashback. I remember Crybaby Lane, I remember parts of it but I could never recall or find anything about it online.
This is why I've been subbed to you for so fucking long Quinton. Fantastic video. I wish I could meet up with you and discuss old nostalgic cartoons and such.
Edit: Wtf I have the EXACT same pajama pants as the kids older brother in Crybaby Lane
Hearing you talk about nickelodeon specials gives me a wave of memories of the early days of your channel when you made the reviews on those curse halloween movies. This is a great video.
16:39 they actually showed a little clip of their version of suicide squidward in one of the newer episodes, I was surprised but it was sorta cool that they did that
They at least referenced Squidward's Suicide.
Yeah and it was beautiful
The "oooohhh ah ah ah ah!!" Down with the sickness is priceless
07:23 damn, I forgot how good spongebob is and how I loved this episode. Hey Quinton, thanks for producing such good content, this really saved my friday!
this video is incredible and i’m so happy you made it. i’ve been obsessed with nickelodeon halloween episodes my entire life.
You're one of the few youtubers I still genuinely look forward to, youve only gotten better with time PLEASE DONT QUIT!
that reusing needles joke got me really good cause i just imagined a bunch of people instead of getting horrible disease we just gotta deal with hordes of werewolves every full moon
I always come back to your holiday content a month before so I can be turbo excited for when the holiday month really starts.
Nice, uploaded right when I got off work! Appreciate ya, quinton!
I got so pumped when I saw this bless u quinton
Quinton, I'm already subscribed and I have never in my life wanted anything more than an ICarly analysis.
Hey Quinton! I just wanted to say it’s been great watching your channel grow and seeing your content evolve to what it is now. I first hopped on the train during your Scary Godmother days and it’s only ever been better ever since. It’s nice to see you circle back to the Halloween stuff, a little blast from the past, and I hope that it really showed you how far you’ve come because I know it’s definitely shown me. Always looking forward to your stuff!! And happy Halloween :)
Getting jumpscared by the iCarly goal mentioned at the start of this video
I appreciate so much that you added that at 17:34, literally read my mind
Big Joel shout out! Thanks for the video Quinton :D hope you get to 400k ...not for the icarly thing...just because it would be a great milestone.
Okay, I'll watch the Garfield one. I've only recently found your channel but I absolutely love it already, quickly subbed and am enjoying your catalog!
Your videos have literally been getting noticeably better with every one you put out 👍💛
"squidwards suicide? that was real, here it is"
Quinton. that pretty much happened with that one easter egg in the newer episode
Regarding the memories you're talking about around 8:40, I think I know what you're thinking of, but I'm also pretty foggy. It was either a different episode or a different show (possibly starring robots?) where a character is stealing a bunch of stuff, until they get found out and everyone takes back their stuff... with interest, and the character in question is left as a pair of eyeballs and the immediately surrounding structure (basically, some of a face). I want to say they're unable to communicate at that point.
To a different point, Was kind of hoping you would have included the kenan and kel made for TV movie that was basically a child appropriate remake of "Nothing But Trouble", that such a thing exists is so weirdly overlooked.
might've been one of the spongebob christmas episodes where squidward is Santa
i watch your scary godmother video at least every halloween but honestly a few times a year. i like it. Imma go do that now. This was excellent
Your voice is quite crisp and nice👌🏿
I remember watching The Boy Who Cried Werewolf the night it aired, and I have not thought about that film since until I saw your tweets about them so thanks for the flashbacks
I still very clearly to this day remember the second transformation in "I was a Teenage Gary"
Crazy how the mind can totally fabricate a memory
When you mention The Boy Who Cried Werewolf, all I can think about is the end credits scene where everyone sings Hit Me Baby One More Time
I've also been WAITING to see anyone talk about that werewolf movie, I remember it being a favorite of mine around Halloween!!!
I watched it because I saw that Brooke Shields was in it and she ended up being the best character (Madame Varcolac). She kind of reminded me of Frau Blucher from Young Frankenstein. I always assumed that's what she was going for. I'm an 80's kid, so I missed out on a lot of these, although I run into them from time to time while looking for spooky Halloween stuff to watch.
The Spongebob Christmas special song is still one of my favorite christmas songs to this day.
Jesus. Your videos are really high quality. Subbed
17:35 It's little touches like this that make Quinton my favorite youtuber.
I remember too 100% in the Pickles episode he had more stuff under his tongue. Does anyone else remember a muffler?!
Always good shit from you. I hope you get 400k!
THANK YOU QUINTON I THOUGHT THE GASOLINE BIT WAS A FIGMENT OF MY IMAGINATION.
Oh sweet satisfaction :')
You’re the only person who talked about the boy who cried werewolf I thought it was a fever dream from my childhood
I appreciate that Carl from Cry Baby Lane has a ministry of darkness Undertaker poster in his room. Best Taker theme of all time, no question.
I loved the inclusion of the “oo Ah Ah Ah” from Down with the Sickness
If Quintons 400k goal is reached, I will read iCarly fanfiction.
I still watch the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown every Halloween🎃🎃🎃 I also like that spoof of it that the Simpson's did.
i subscribed for that future icarly video.
i'll come back when it's uploaded.
Perhaps the scariest thing about Crybaby Lane is how the FPS never ever reaches 30.
How are you not at 400k???
Your stuff is awesome! 😭😭😭😭
I absolutely love your holiday videos! For December, could you make a followup to your video about the Rankin Bass Cinematic Universe? Specifically on the two terrible reboots of A Year Without a Santa Claus from the late 2000's?
YES! I was hoping you or someone else on youtube would cover nostalgic TV halloween specials. You should do cartoon network next if you can, they have some interesting content as well. The grim adventures of billy and mandy comes to mind.
