Just put my pre emergent down I would have like to got it down about 30 days ago but better late than never. Now after it get watered in I'll have to do a post emergent cause I had a ton of weeds pop up.

What's the best time of year to over seed.

Fall is typically going to be the best time to seed. I live in Indiana so around Labor Day is typically a good time to start. So Depending if you live somewhere warmer or colder I would go a week or two before or after depending. Thanks for watching!

I'm in Northern California and I seeded last spring my lawn came back very nice but I'm having a hard time with crab grass, I can't buy anything strong enough to kill it completely, and we don't get full seasons, some people say apply pre-emergent in the fall and spring but that conflict with seeding, I found it's best to do it while it's raining.

@mikeo8890 If you look up Tenacity herbicide, it might be what you need. It's one of the few herbicides that won't harm new grass seed. I've never personally used it, but one of my good friends did with his yard and the grass grew just fine. Pre-emergent is by far the best way to keep crabgrass at bay. Since crabgrass is an annual, once you knock most of it out, you can pretty much keep it away in the future.

@mikeo8890 Then you may end up having to skip seeding for a season and do pre-emergent. I think in the long run, you will like that route better. It is typically very effective against crabgrass, so it should make any issues much easier to control.

Im in CT.
So I'm using Jonathan Green Back beauty ultra. Yesterday April 3rd, I applied prodiamine, then I watered in with humic 12 and Air-8. Then this coming up weekend I hit it with Yard mastery Flagship, and water it in with RGS. Then this should get me going for the season. Product recommend another application about 6 weeks later of prodiamine to give 3 .months of crabgrass protection. Perfect time so I can overseed a little on September.
