I love that Tommy get down his knees to deliver the line. It’s showing that he used Rule #21:
Play a sucker to catch a sucker.
Brilliant.
He's second Time to get on his knees to do that, season one to pickup the coin from the horse show guy
cope
@ huh
protagonist wins
me, an intellectual: omg i cant believe he won truly incredible talent and skill
is reading 48 laws of power worth it?
This was a great example of how Tommy made Luca think he was backed into a corner. He was able to think outside the box and a perfect execution on winning the war and losing the battle.
bro, it was the ONLY example. jfc im sick of these comments
@ ikr? They think too small
Season 4 was the best. Luca changretta was absolutely phenomenal
Adrien Brody is too ham-handed in the role.
Seems like he watched all the Godfather movies too many times, and became a caricature of a New York mobster.
"his name is Alphonse Capone" sent chills down my spine, just like when Winston Churchill came to Tommy's residency.
Luca’s ego and desire to keep Thomas alive while he killed everyone else was what ultimately led to his demise. He could’ve very easily killed Thomas in their first encounter, which would’ve made things play out a lot differently. But he let his thirst for revenge cloud his judgement
100% . Kinda actually irritates me. He could've just done it there and then and had a good life 😂. But nooooooo he had to be a gabagool abou it
@@moztar6247a gabagool😂😂😂
@@moztar6247 His mother told him to do it that way.. to inflict the maximum amount of hurt on Tommy. On a related note, if John and Arthur had killed her (the "good" woman) like Tommy told them to, John would've lived.
@@bigdog1002 Why are you talking about John's death? We're talking about Luca here. Luca really could've easily killed Tommy but he didn't. He definitely has an ego. Imagine leaving America visiting Tommy and waiting until you make a mistake. While Luca is playing games with Tommy making fun of him yada yada, Tommy was here having every single one of Luca's ally in America killed until he was the only one left which you can clearly see in the show is what happened. The Mafia that was once loyal to Luca were only loyal to the ones who gives them more money. Luca was a sitting duck. No allies, absolutely nothing. Just his ego that led to his downfall.
That is what vendetta means, my friend. Revenge. He said that he could have easily taken them all out even before he sent them a black hand.
There are two types of people: those who absolutely love Peaky Blinders and those who haven't seen it yet.
Changretta dialogue delivery was just like Marlon Brando's Godfather role
It was more exact during the first meeting of Luca and Tommy.
It's functionally the same guy. Some mafia don who got his start between world wars, 2nd generation Italian-American raised by 1st-generation.
Only in this universe, Tommy conquered Birmingham.
This moron could not act his way out of a paper bag.
Also has a hint of Joe "The Boss" Masseria from Boardwalk Empire which this show wouldn't exist without.
Never played the game but I believe Tommy just played the ultimate Uno reverse card.
Only by outflanking Changretta strategically.
Lmao that’s classic
Billy Kimber: Had the resources, but he underestimated Tommy
Darby Sabini: Had the power, yet never had the right resources
Inspector Campbell: Distracted by 😸
Father Hughes: Dumb (edit) Actually he s the one I dislike most because of his arrogance but he s definitely real!
Luca Changretta: Had the power, the resources, Never had the brain to defeat Tommy
Jimmy Mccavern: Trained, had resources, pretty smart.
Michael Gray: Dumb fuck
Oswald Mosley: Tommy s hardest challenge…
Problem with Moseley is that he’s protected by the very same shadows that now protect Tommy as well! This is why Tommy confessed to being as bad as the same people in the room when it was him Moseley’ wife, Jack.. Tommy knew to kill Moseley would be a huge mistake despite how awesome it would feel 😅
Father Hughes dumb 😂😂😂😂
In real life, Darby Sabini done them all
@@27apotheosis I’m talking about the series only, not everyone knows about the actual story of it.
Father Hughes was not dumb. He was an absolute menace.
Watching this show, you know that the deadliest thing you can do is ask Thomas Shelby to sign a document.
For the type of villain that Luca was this was hard to believe that they could defeat him so easily.
Ego and a need for vengeance. He could have easily killed Tommy, but wanted him to suffer, by hurting those around him first. Gave Tommy time to catch him off-guard and come up with a plan to take him out. Tommy knew all this and completely outplayed him.
the problem was luca was projecting power in a non cosa nostra territory where luca being whacked would have zero effect in igniting a war and someone like al capone would utilise working with a native in the UK who was trustable an clever to 1. take out luca 2. have ties to a different non italian organisation which has an advantage so luca should of just killed his adversary asp instead of talking about who dresses better an has a bigger stick but deffo should of made a 50 - 50 deal an went back to NY if don corleone met Tommy he would of been impressed an had long years of success
Tommy read the script in the corner of the room. He made phone-calls off screen, to people we never met. Agents that we've never seen were sent to take care of men we didn't know existed, so that Tommy Shelby could win yet again. The sooner people realize everything after Season 3 is just an excuse for Steven Knight to make punk-rock music videos with a coal-punk aesthetic the sooner people will realize that the writing in this show is really atrocious after the Russian-nobility story arc.
I hated season 4. The finale was so bad. "Oh we win because we've done this with these people you'll never meet". It is atrocious. Season 5 was good. 6 was dreadful too. Shame as the first 2 seasons were brilliant.
Season three was good though
2 best actor Oscar winners right there
The luca nearly won the war with just 15 soldiers in the land of tommy while having police in tommy's pocket. You just can't show such a character in a single season. And hands up to the actor.
Adrien Brody is a great actor who’s been around a long time. He was the youngest actor to win the Oscar for best actor in the early 2000s for The Pianist
@@ianb1674 yeah I know that, when I saw adrien in the role of luca I was happy & when I saw his first performance in Tommy's office it blowed my mind.
best tv show ever
You have no idea how long I've been waiting for this clip on yt 😂. Tried to put it up myself, but BBC is annoying with copyright 😂
6:10 god i just love how the soundtrack references polly’s meeting with luca, it all comes back to that, him offering her a dance and her refusing, him being under the impression she was already caught up in a dance with him, not realising he was caught up in a dance with her
Tommy Shelby was always playing chess while everyone else played checkers thinking they were playing chess. 👏🏽👏🏽
Love this scene! Not my favorite villain take down in the show but a really good one!
Pat Riley is going crazy
No civilians. No children.
*No police*
One of the best series ro watch
Gin will cure your sadness today by taking your happiness from tomorrow
only people who cant stop themselves from drinking say things like this. Get a grip on your life and do something productive. Many people who have a impulse control enjoy their gin and their next day as well.
@jalegirl It's "an" impulse control.
I'm sorry, but I don't take life advice from illiterates.
Have a great day! 👋
@@SuperMickyChow Of course, you don’t. You search for answers at the bottom of a bottle, end up in an AA meeting hoping for advice, and then throw out some completely irrelevant advice on a random Peaky Blinders clip 😂
Good luck on your sobriety, Professor.
@jalegirl OK, I'm going to give you more of my time and energy than you deserve, so pay attention...
My original comment is an aphorism often spoken when referring to the habitual drinkers of the London gin houses in Victorian times.
Also, I don't drink alcohol. At all. So your wild assumptions about me show *you're* the kind of person who makes up someone in their head to get mad at.
Now, go bother someone who has time for your pathetic flailings...
"I can use his death to win the war" literally nothing in Tommy's plan used the fact Arthur was dead. He could've lulled Changretta in there with any other pretext, and bought his guys regardless. Arthur didn't even need to be the one pulling the trigger. Incredibly lame twist to end an incredibly lame season
I think he kept it secret to make Luca overconfident, make it seem like he had a better position against Tommy than he actually had. He’d assume Tommy would be more desperate if both his brothers were dead rather than one. And the reveal was more to let Arthur get his revenge than him being crucial to the plan in anyway.
Bruv, it's easy to win as an underdog. No one expects a surprise when they think they're winning.
Tommy's attitude is what drives Luca mad :))) Tommy has a reputation that he is not afraid of anyone
Tommy served in WWI, he knows nae fear. He knows only death and war. Soft keyboard warriors trying to enter the mind of a character that lives knowing death. Open a window, go outdoors.
@@datgrrl_official 🤣
@@datgrrl_official the irony though LMFAO, its a tv show fella don't act like you were born in the dark 💀
He is afraid. He just doesn't show it.
Luca is a great villian, I kinda like him in ss4 ^^
Did anyone notice Tommy’s tie go missing towards the start of the scene?
Damn, seen this seen millions of times and never caught it.
I think thats is explained by two points. For first Tommys alone in the room, when he grabs the bottle, he therefor is a couple of minutes/hours early to what is going to happen, then the scene is blend in and his fam is with him. And secondly, think about the meaning of not wearing a tie, even tho you couldve, it makes tommy look more concerned, that he doesnt care how he looks when he clearly knows he is going to die, a psychological and therefor strategic way to say, “I’m already effed up, end it already”. You could argue that a man, who is willing to die wouldnt bring a weapon, but the gun he brings is also just to make luca believe they still are in war, that tommy still wants to protect himself. (Technically I dont know what the sacripters were thinking, its just interpretation. I dont like this scene tbh because its to stiff, tommy only uses 3-4 sentences, even tho we couldve had much more of a discussion, luca on the other hand takes his time with killing them).
yes i did
also his hat went missing as well lol
You underestimated the Peaky Blinders Changretta. Tommy was always on step ahead.
I missed the frames from 0:13 while watching the show. Beautiful direction
Cillian is unbelievably good
From the pianist Szpilman to the mafia Changreta. I am very very amazed.
Best scene of the series !
5:28 The moment he realizes it was Barzini all along
Never underestimate Tommy Shelby - the man with a plan
My favorite show ever
I remember the first time I saw this scene when I was binge watching this entire series ......it blew me away as I was in suspense as to how the Peaky boys were gonna get out of this mess. Brilliant scene - on the same level as many of The Sopranos scenes.
Shelby Capone lick up was something Luca didn’t see coming by at all
Adrian Brody's nose can detect uranium.
crazy how Pie is the only Ad I get about getting too many ads while being the only ad that haunts me
The moment Arther has come in. It says alot
Arthur took violence to a whole new level
Best fucking season of peaky blinders 🔥🔥🔥
Brilliant scene
Best show ever
Long Live Tommy Shelby 💯
R.I.P Polly, i really like you
That was pretty sweet.
Adrien Brody gave the Peaky Blinders a Super Great SHOW!!!!!!
This always felt a bit contrived. Honestly not the slickest or most memorable doublecross in the show.
This for me was when the show officially "jumped the shark"
Felt like there was no realistic way they could have actually beat him cos he was too good of a villain
It's always been a ridiculous and over the top show
would have been much better if they removed the bullets from his gun first
yeah considering Al Capone was from NY and moved to Chicago to start his own thing so it seemed weird that would even want to start his own war with NY when he left for the very same reason. Someone did not do their research.
Beautifull scene
I was bummed out they hurt the gin barrel... seems like a waste
Thought same thing.
is this birmingham ? my dad grew up their in the 60's
Where did the tie go?
I wanted to stop watching this really bad when he said "a friend of mine once said" i cant handle another drop of the prestige tv formula
Cinema magic❤️
Tommy is on his knees but he's still a winner
I hear Adrian Brody took his inspiration for this character from League Of Gentleman's Papa Lazarou.
The rteason his luck ran out was because he forgot his toothpick
My favorite show, ever ❤
One misstep on this scene. There WERE two chairs at that table. Then there weren’t.
Tommy also had a tie at the the start and then he didn't right after lol
It was nice to see Adrian Brody on a weekly tv show.
Is that Lt. Commander Data?
I believe it is! Looks a helluva lot like him, ah?
while I love this story I want everyone to remember this is not how Tommy’s story went down
This is my favourite show of all time, and I do respect this scene. However, I wasn't a huge fan of the 180 they pulled. They might have done it in order to surprise 100% of the audience, but it felt too easy and convenient. I believe they should have given us crumbs of hints so that you can see it coming when rewatching at least. Maybe a dialogue where someone refers to how all the blood-related men have died and another early in the show where someone refers to Luca coincidentally also having to leave the US because things were getting heated... Still, despite the questionable writing, it was marvellously executed.
I have never watched this series. From this short scene, I understand that Luca, although more powerful and more influential, fell victim to his jaw and was defeated by the main character of the series. If you play too much with your prey, you will lose it.
Never disrespect the Shelby's
If it would have been John in place of Finn, he wouldn't have let Tommy kneel in front of luca ....
Rip aunt Pol
Terrible ending to a great season. Problem solved with an offscreen phone call
Peaky Blinders is a great show - but I thought Adrian Brady’s acting was so hammy and cliche, it defied belief!
I thought it was great, kinda liked the ott mob villain but to each their own
It was really over the top-and it could have been so much better. Brody is a far better actor than this
I agree. Adrian is a brilliant actor and his portrayal of Luca was disappointing. So cliche.
Irish my man
really want one of that style of gin bottle..ideally with the gin in it :)
Maybe Rebecca Ferguson plays Luca’s daughter in the upcoming film
Best serie EVER.
who portray s iuca?
Adrien Brody
@iranerware thank you. was who i thought but was not sure .
God damn it! get a bucket stat. the gin is spilling everywhere!
How did they use his death to win the war?
By faking Arthur's death Luca thought he had brought the military power of the peaky blinders to zero and Tommy guessed that Luca would want to take over his business and he made friends with luca's rivals in the meantime... so in short he predicted this would happen.
I think if Luca dies in the vendetta it's over. Listen to what Tommy says
You’re right. Even if Arthur was dead and didn’t appear in this scene, that doesn’t change any of Tommy’s strategy at all. Arthur pulling the trigger could have been anyone else pulling the trigger.
@@Srvgirl2011 The original comment is talking about Arthur
Bringing the yank wops in was the beginning of the decline for this show.
Always felt this moment to be somewhat unsatisfying, and the season disappointing overall
John's death especially was always feel rushed
Yep
Tell your bosses to what? Not help us next time?
It was cool until the end. “Tell your boss what you’ve seen here today.” Like dude, this is only happening cause you ran to our boss scared and needing help.
It’s a shame the show really peaked during the 2nd and 3rd seasons. After this was a slow decline.
Season 4 was the best
Arthur s the one to fear
changretta is not an italian surname at all.
Changretta is italian.
Luca's character was never convincing.
I've not watched this series, so who can tell me, briefly, why that swarthy fellow could come to the UK and demand to take legal possession of all of that Englishman's holdings?
He fucked his mom
Grrat actimg from both.
???
Could never get on board with the Luca character simply because it's such a Brando/Pacino parody. Such a weird choice for them to make.
Except for the fact that the Old School Italian mobsters acted like that. Parodies work because you can see the original character in the over acting
@mattbarrett41 Ha. There is no way you can tell me that old school italian Americans all spoke like that. It's a massive rip off of Brando mixed in with some Pacino. It ruins the whole character.
@ - I’m old. My grandfather was first generation Italian immigrant as were his friends. To introduce my fiancée to the family we watched the original Godfather together. She didn’t believe that’s how people behaved until she saw it for herself
Oh do shut up!
Playing chess not checkers
What we can say for sure, his mother was one mofo
I dunno, the acting is .... kinda forced.... the characters very one dimensional... there is some plot, albeit very linear.
what does this show actually offer?
Just what your comment says. One dimensional characters, shallow plot twists, and presentation over substance
Still a fun watch tho
The worst depiction and acting for an italian I have ever seen, he was aweful in this part
Brando mimic.
The bad Brando accent ruined it.
Brody was completely miscast for thos role... couldn't stand his acting!!
Started off as Ok turned into utter crap.
Et tu, brute?
They cuold, at least, have bothered to either spell "Ciangretta" properly or find a different Italian surname altogether; regardless of why that is (lazyness, ignorance, who knows) , it's very much unappreciated! 👎
Shut up quido
From someone who can’t spell “could.”
@@garywagner2466he probably speaks Italian as well as English, which is two more languages than you ever could. Humble yourself.
The show was mediocre at best, btw.
@@Jupa Lmao, you don't know anything about him, "Wagner" is a surname of German origins and unless you're flexing room temperature IQ, he's clearly writing in English. Your opinion on the show is worth as much as a cigarette so there's no point stating it as a "btw", get off your high horse.
@@amilcarsafeca7629 it’s a dumb little show made for little prats with a BTEC and limited range in their mother tongue.
Disgrace to Britain really.
Probably the worst character because it was just a mix of Italian stereotypes that have always been done; the actor didn’t even try, so he just WAY overacted and looked cartoonish. He ain’t Brando…
Der Name ist so dämlich
Luca Changretta is the worst character portrayal in TV history! What a joke!
Yawn
