@@VG-fk6nk Well, morality is a pretty sticky subject. Especially in a show as dark and gritty as Peaky Blinders. Violence, intimidation, theft and murder are all fair game to the Blinders, however, they tend to keep away from the innocent. In *most* cases, the Peaky Blinders are not the aggressors when violence takes place in the show. Now, there are instances of generally immoral actions taken by characters. For example, when Tommy massacres the Gypsy camp in revenge for Ruby. I don't think this makes Tommy immoral. I think he's done far more good than he has with that bit of bad and while I don't think that justifies it, it doesn't paint him solely as immoral. In conclusion, I think the Peaky Blinders are pretty morally grey but lean much closer to a chaotic good.
@@remmy3571 So to go back to my example: a man can take your wife, rape her numerous times, pluck her fingernails, stomp her rape-baby's head in front of her, torture her a lot more, and finally leave her a completely annihilated wreck. “Our sins, our sins against the beating of children with bricks and hoses, our sins, our sins... against the black child who hung herself in fear of your temper” this quote holds so much meaning the sins of the blinders were against similar men they never attacked innocence without provocation in this way the nuns essentially broke the code they beat kids who are too innocent and defenseless to even have sins the Nuns judgement of the character of a gangster who kills gangsters is frankly as stupid as it gets tommy essentially said your beating children, I’m selling drugs and killing gangster for profit our sins are nothing to the senseless abuse of children
@Mevlüt Yılmaz have you actually watched the show and understood that he was loosing control? Have you seen him not realizing what he did or having his state of mind decline because of that kid he killed ? Have you seen him regreting ? Peaky Blinders is the only show from the last couple of years that really got under my skin. After I watch an episode of it, I simply can't think of anything else...
Yeah no kidding! She seriously had the gall to try and turn it around on Tommy when she’s the one abusing innocent helpless children and leading one to kill themselves. Tommy does A LOT of fucked up things but he’d never go there.
“Now put ‘em on. Put ‘em on your face, or it ‘ll be your eyes that are broken. Please don't imagine that i won't use this minute to do it, or that i am afraid of your prayers or your crosses.” Top lines in the entire show

@@omartorrio1512 "Crosses" is a colder line because it implies that Tommy doesn't fear god, "curses" are much more temporal, electing to ignore a curse doesn't have the same weight as defying god.
@@dontreadmyprofilepicture8817 You make an excellent point. Use of the word "crosses" does mean Tommy does not fear God or that he doesn't believe the nuns have the power to invoke God against him. Either way, it shows that the writers put much thought in the creation of this scene.

This entire scene hits home. So many native kids were put in residential schools by the church, and so many never made it home. I've heard stories from older family members, many who are long gone, about the abuses they suffered at the hands of members of the church. "You see the world broken....like those beaten children will" had so much impact I almost teared up instantly. This is a damn good scene, and the reason I started watching Peaky Blinders. Can't wait to get to this scene and season.
By native you mean Irish or Welsh? I’m not being obtuse , I realize native can mean something else. But those are the only natives on the British isles. And yes many of them have and continue to suffer from institutionalization that profits others.
My God, I swear this has go to be one of the best scenes in film history. How this show is not generally put up there, and above, breaking bad is beyond me. The writers, actors, cameramen, editors, everyone, Jesus, you can easily tell they give it their everything at this. It’s a crime this isn’t as popular as it deserves.
I love this scene, all the abuse at the hands of caregivers are addressed . I have been that child and it warms my soul to watch the truth win When the church has hidden abuse for centuries. The American Indians taken from their homes and abused, killed and buried by the church. I hope there is a hell below hell where child abusers go for eternity.😊

@Kekistani Pepe I like those characters so much more, they grow like everyone else, and still prevail, dispute injuries, I equality or disadvantages. Pol is an older, gypsy housewife gangster woman. No formal. Position, barely any ties to society and plenty of loss, hardship and trauma. Still the most badass character on this show.
Nah nah you missed the point, we don’t want unrealistically strong female characters that could beat up a man that’s twice their size, it looks stupid. We want a realistically portrayed female character that has her natural flaws and weaknesses and still overcomes them.
What makes this scene so powerful is that it was reality, people of colour were treated like dirt even from the church, and to this day around the world and especially in Italy where the pope resides racism is still prevalent
@Roc Towerhug well based on the show they were born Gypsies which are basically deemed as poor classless people, when you are born into poverty racism is the least of an issue for you , their family never forgot where they came from even after tremendous success
My Grandmother was born in Liverpool in 1910 and one of her little friends was a black girl. They both went to a Catholic school and even 70 years later my Grandmother cried when remembering how those nuns spoke to that little child.
@Roc Towerhug Because they didn't have the luxury to be racist. At this time, if you were poor and classles, you weren't treated any better than if you were of colour. Especially if you were a gypsy, just look at how much they use slurs against the Shleby family for being gypsy. It's why people like Isaiah and Jeremiah are treated as family by the Peaky Blinders, because the Shelbys most likely find it pointless and stupid to be racist.
This is easily one of the best scenes of the entire series and what makes it so special is how they show great offense for the completely unjust actions committed against innocent children. But what makes it so captivating is the fact that they, being 'The Peaky Blinders' who are crooked and immoral many times over...yet do NOT condone wicked actions of this degree and thus provide the weight of how disgraceful they acted.
@@lowkey_educationalaccount9759 You see it throughout the whole series. Curly's simple but they keep him around and take care of him, Tommy treating the gay man at Ada's place like a human being, founding charitable institutions. They're horrible people who do horrible things, and a lot of their charity is just cover for crimes, but they all have soft spots for the oppressed populations around them, because in the downtrodden they see themselves, and so they understand their grief.

@Roc Towerhug Because they didn't have the luxury to be racist. At this time, if you were poor and classles, you weren't treated any better than if you were of colour.
