- Disturbed frontman David Draiman is speaking out in support of Israel after a terror attack by Hamas took place over the weekend. Disturbed recently played a highly anticipated show in Israel over the summer.

Additionally, their Evolution tour of 2019 printed a specific shirt for their first ever concert in Israel, which is a black tee with the Name of the band and the phrase the phrase "Am Yisrael Chai" written on it in, both in Hebrew, and The Guy's face between them. The back has the band's name and the date of the show. Since the attacks, and David's vocal support and determination in showing our side of the story, it has become one of my most prized possessions.
I'm not even a Disturbed fan but I seem to love every word David Draiman has to say.

David Drainman Is A Great Guy, He Really Cares About His Fans
I respect David Draiman and his Jewish heritage completely, and fully empathize with what he and his loved ones must be going through and dealing with right now.
However, from looking into this situation I can see both Israel's and Palestine's perspectives on what is occurring.
Israel continually keep encroaching on Palestinian land and are building settlements on land that is not within their agreed borders. This is squeezing Palestinians into an even smaller area, hence Gaza is the most populated place on earth. And even the UN have condemned Israel for this illegal land seizure.
And from what I have seen over the years Israel has killed thousands of innocent civilians in Gaza. This in turn fuels fuels further resentment and hatred, which has now culminated in these rocket attacks and invasion into Israel.
Personally, I sympathize only with the innocent civilians on both sides who just seek to live their lives and take care of their families.
It is wrong for Israel to kill innocent people in Gaza and seize their land, and it is very wrong to use terorist tactics (like Hamas has done to innocent Israelis) and murder innocent civilians.
I do wonder if Israel just stayed within their borders and treated Palestinians better then these attacks could have been avoided? A cycle of violence will always fuel further violence.

I’m glad you took the time to write this. However, I respectfully must point out something as someone with family in Israel and having been there myself for an extended period around 23 years ago. There are two types of Arab people living in that area.
First, there are the Israeli-Palestinian people who are Israeli citizens that live freely as productive citizens alongside the Israeli Jews. They are kind neighbors and hospitable friends. They are active in government, get all the benefits that Jewish Israeli citizens get, own businesses, and generally live wonderful lives. I am Jewish and went to modern Zionistic Jewish schools. I experienced these people when I visited my family and friends in Israel during Jan of 2000. They were living just as well if not better than Israeli and American Jews living there. It was an eye opening to see this up close because I always assumed that all Muslim people in Israel were bad apples based on what I learned on TV from afar - even with Israeli teachers at my school trying to convey the message that they are beautiful Arab people living in Israel. I guess I just made an inaccurate correlation and assumption that did not really fully understand understand that there was a difference between good and evil people as a child of the 80’s and 90’s and seeing all kinds of stuff on TV - it took going to Israel in person as a then 19 year old teen and experiencing the people on all sides to fully comprehend the difference.
Did you ever stop and consider why there are Arab-Israeli folks who want nothing to do with their own supposed people? Because they are not terrorists and are good people who represent the larger Muslim community well. In fact, they are also scared of Hamas and the PLO - they’ve also been attacked and slaughtered at the hands of their own supposed “brothers” because they did not want to sympathize with a terrorist agenda.
Now let’s get to the second group: radicals who associate with Hamas and the PLO, which is a proud long-standing terrorist group by their own admission. This group includes men, women, and children - the children are even taught to throw stones and spit at Israeli adults and children, which I witnessed firsthand during a relatively peaceful time. I was traveling in an armored van with my family and some other tourists just trying to get to a biblical site called Cave of the Patriarchs in Hebron. We were just driving through, and kids and adults just started pelting fist sized rocks at the van. The people had piles of rocks just sitting outside their front doors. They kids thought it was funny as their moms, dads, and grandparents joined in and egged them to keep doing it. I had heard about that many times, but to gave it happen to me and a bunch of people totally unprovoked was a whole other situation. I couldn’t imagine having to worry each day if you’d get injured or killed by kids and adults throwing stones, shooting at you, etc, just for being in their line of sight. These Hamas/PLO kids grow up totally brainwashed into their teens adulthood when it’s too late to save them from a life of terrorist ways.
Putting terrorists who pose a national and international security risk behind a border wall was the most humane to deal with these terrorists who were constantly bombing malls and other public spaces, shooting guns, stabbing people with knives, throwing rocks, etc. Would you want terrorists living amongst your people and attacking you unprovoked? The wall was put up because this type of attack we have seen in recent days is what Hamas and the PLO is capable of (especially when they have help from surrounding countries who also support terrorism, hate the free world, etc.). It was either building a wall where these terrorists could be monitored more closely in order to prevent attacks, or killing them outright - and Israel would never ever even harm let alone kill even a single terrorist unless its own country was provoked first as an act of self-defense. This wall has largely worked day to day. It goes to show you the level of harm these terrorists would be capable of carrying out when you see what they managed to do in recent days entirely under the radar. That’s why these people were put behind a wall - because they’re not human beings. They are far from the beautiful Muslim people who break bread with their Jewish-Israeli and American friends and neighbors.
The people who associate with
Hamas and the PLO put Israel and the world at large in danger. They hate Israelis (which includes Muslims, Christians, and others), Jews around the world, their own people who don’t want to be terrorists and refuse to support a terrorist agenda, US and other democratic countries, women, minorities, etc. They willingly attack on any given day, but given the opportunity, they’ll find a way to organize and act on a massive scale.
I have been a lifelong NYer. I’m as liberal as they come. I’m definitely not a fan of war, but there’s no negotiating with terrorists. I witnessed 9/11 and what it did to my beautiful city and the people here. If Israel, the US, and the world at large does not act with military force, it puts all of us at risk of getting attacked. We don’t know what else they’ve planned, which countries may have assisted and how, etc. There is really very little choice at this point.
Anyway, thanks for sharing your opinions and taking the time to hear me out too. I hope you consider some of the “inside” perspectives I bring by way of my own experiences, as well as those of my family and friends who were either born there or moved there permanently. It’s a very complex situation, but understanding that there are two distinct groups of Palestinians- those who are terrorists and those who are not and live harmoniously as Israeli citizens speaks volumes. It makes you understand that you really cannot treat the terrorists the same way as their fellow brethren- and it’s sad that a cycle has developed where children continue to grow up and get brainwashed into thinking it’s normal to kill and create false narratives about their supposed religious conquests when they kill innocent lives. If that cycle could be broken, it would make world peace much easier. Sadly, there’s no negotiating with terrorists. They cannot be trusted. All they care about is themselves and doing harm to others. When people are inhumane and barbaric, it makes you understand the need for a wall at the bare minimum. Jewish people would never proactively exterminate anyone when our people were gassed, slaughtered, tortured, etc by the likes of Hitler and the SS, among other going back in history. My own family included. My grandparents always taught us that hate is an extend word to use and shouldn’t be tossed around - but these terrorists hate us and so many others. They’ve been given opportunities to show the world that they can change their ways and be good SO many times, but they don’t care about being like that. So are we supposed to continue allowing them to hate, torture, and kill? Sometimes it’s necessary to use force when society’s safety is at risk. It’s not something I want, but there’s sadly no diplomacy with terrorists because THEY don’t have any desire to work together and peacefully like their Israeli-Muslim brothers and sisters who live beautiful lives in peace and harmony with their Israeli and American neighbors in Israel.

That’s an extremely silly thing to say. This situation IS our problem too. Were you not around for 9/11?! This situation puts our national security at risk. We don’t know who helped these terrorists and what else they may have planned, in Israel and elsewhere. Don’t know who else terrorists hate besides Israelis and Jewish people? Americans and anyone else living in democratic societies, women, gay people, minorities - they even hate their own Muslim brethren (including the Israeli-Palestinian citizens who live wonderful lives harmoniously with Jewish and American Israelis) who don’t sympathize with their terrorist causes.

David used to be a hero of mine. I don't know how much David understands of the illegal settlements and apartheid committed against Arabic people in Palestine committed by the IDF and the zionists like Benjamin netanyahu. But he is disappointing to me on this subject. I always appreciate the courage to be an individual that someone like David Draiman gave me however I think he is completely wrong to brush under the rug the brutal and inhumane policies Israel and people like Benjamin Netanyahu in Israel has carried out against Arabic people in Palestine no more than a couple decades after World War II and onward. I don't hate Jewish people, I like Jewish people. This needs a nuanced conversation and it seems you are unable to spearhead that. Hamas are awful, most Palestinians do not support them. Their attacks on civilians should be condemned. Israel's attacks on civilians, which have been happening for years and years should also be condemned. Either approach this from an educated perspective or just don't bother.
