Watched for the first time in 2021, still a fantastic Demo eight years later. I love your playing man, keep killing it!
Thanks so much for that Bea. I also love the track in the background in the first 5 minutes and I cannot wait for it to come out. Rock on \m/
sweet! love watching the videos you, Rob, and Dorje post! awesome stuff! can't wait to get a full Dorje albumin future!!! much respect from Canada!
You've come along way since this vid. Awesome ..
amazing, great work bea, Keep rockin!!
yay, been waiting for this
This was an excellent video Rabea. I so hope that you guys can come to Australia at some stage. Damn your ears are good. Brilliant note selections. I can see why Chappers holds your playing in such high regard. I look forward to seeing many more of your vids.
that is f*ckin' GNARLY SOUNDING man! real good demo, good job Bea! :)
What the Fork man, I thought this prototype was not quite your style, or not how I wouldve liked the guitar, but with the changes you mentioned, this is gonna be a really really sick guitar! Love it!
That tone is massive. I really dig your playing its got that thick southern sound with a solid groove with some modern prog metal. Your tone is really sick too, I've never been one for marshalls, but it sounds so tight and crunchy.
thanks a lot man, that's much appreciated. i'll be sure to keep em coming!!!
Trainspotting poster in the background is mint! Great video man!
i love your style and playing
Here here!
Bea is the man!
The new specs for your signature sound fucking sick Bea.
This is a quality review, I'm extremely tempted to get rid of my big muff pi and get one of these instead, When you rolled off that B knob, that tone was immense!!
You're dead on about a good fuzz, it's all about choosing the right tools for your chosen tonal pallet and you have chosen well!...;-) Keep up the good work
Four controls dial in the Buffalo’s many flavors of sputtering, popping bliss. F controls the amount of fuzz. P controls the amount of pre-gain. L (level) uses a reverse-taper potentiometer, meaning the resistance tapers as you turn the pot clockwise-an effect a lot of audio engineers consider much smoother and more natural. B (bias) enables 3.5-8.5V of bias adjustment, which is useful because germanium transistors are notoriously susceptible to natural variables like temperature fluctuation.
Love the demo, I always enjoy your style. Killer sounding fuzz.
Also the P stands for Pre-Gain.
I would love to see Rabea and Paul Gilbert have a face-off. No guitars, just see who can pull the best face. Nice playing Rabea, you Rock!
That guitar will wear down nicely with a wax finish! Cool video man.
That's an awesome Red Fang tone
cheers man,
it's one of my own songs. That's the kind of music i write by myself, it's all [played by me too. much easier than having to teach to other people when i just want to get the ideas down
It amazes me how many people in general know about Red Fang nowadays, i love it! They are amazing live btw
hey man, they are old HI-Fi speakers made by pioneer, CS-539, but they're not really monitors, i just used them for music listening
I use a germanium overdrive - especially for solos, it adds a real bite to the tone. Rolling back the bias knob is good fun too, my bass player just doesnt get it- he thinks my speakers have blown. You can really hear the Nuno influence in your playing. Good stuff!
Killer playin man!
one person couldnt handle how awesome the video is
One of the sickest tones I've ever heard.
yeah man, they're sick man, i'm planning to put some videos out very soon :-)
Cheers , wow you got a stone groove, sounds great, the guitar sounds good too.
I recently got the Timeline and Mobius as well Bea. Though it hurt to spend close to a grand on them, they replace all the pedals on my board except for my OD pedals. Best investment ever. Do some videos showing the presets you use on your Strymons, that would be awesome!
I've been into this stoner Rock kick lately... That is a hell of a fuzz tone love it!
Love the sig Bea and can't wait to see the new proto!! Keep meaning to ask what headstock tuner do you use? I've got a snark but I'm not keen on it unless its on my acoustic which it works much better so looking to get a new one
Have you ever tried a Zvex Fuzz probe or something similar. I loved the bit-cruncher function of the pedal you demo'd where it just struggled to process what you were chucking through it, really ace.
i love how you show us the feeling of this fuzz especially at 9:00
you've been bitten by the fuzz bug my friend! don't fight it...go with it...love it...
That is a killer fuzz tone.
Dude, love your TShirt design!! Did you do it? It seems to have Arabic alphabet in it. Do is it say Maz3a2a in arabic? Anyway, love your guitar style and your work in UA-cam is top notch! Keep up the good work!
Youre awesome dude
hey man, it came from the fact that, i was playing so hard and the strings were getting caught under the pickups and it was causing me to have to physically grab the string and pull it back, making performances sloppy, so i just taped them, it's more to do with the way i play i think
sorry man, i just never really used them. I use the volume knob far more and with my amplifier as well, i don't feel too bothered about keeping it, but thank you for considering it. I appreciate that :-)
Sweet baby jesus you get a sweet groove going. Your rhythm is so contagious. Like +1000
So, I think Bea should be guesting on the next QOTSA album.
I think this would sit really nicely in the mix of a stoner rock/grungy band, cool video :)
That riff at 13:00 is absolutely sick
Thats real high spec for £599 - think i may need to add to my arsenal. Top vid Bea
Just bought avery similar fuzz called the 'hoof' fuzz. It's wicked!!
cheers man, that is much appreciated : -)
Kudos for the trainspotting poster !
fuzz demo starts at about 6 minutes into the video
Rabea, how about doing a video about how you combine 3 note per string scales and pentatonic scales when you solo? I love how Nuno really comes through in your playing because I'm a huge fan of the Pornografitti album!
Anyway, thanks man I can use the 3 note per string help!!
its a Planet Waves NS headstock tuner
Lovin the custom axe man.
Just wondered what happens to all the proto models after the production ones come out?
Awesome!
Bea any plans on a 7 string version of your guitar? That would be soooo sick!!
Love the trainspotting poster.
try the Buffalo FX website - it looks like they have an updated version of this pedal now available, you can order it straight from the factory.
Dude you are total fretboard beast!! /,,/
The oscillations when the bends meet are awesome, you're right. :D
thanks man, thats much appreciated ;-)
Dude is that last song available any where? Its so dark and rifftastic, I love it
Love that description of harmonic tuning :D and yeah that nice dissonance ring between close bended notes with high gain, good times. Add a dime squeal to that and watch the panties fall off haha. Nice playing, you a fan of Spiritual Beggars?
Beer has a page! Subscribed!
hey rabea, saw you guys in Glasgow, was digging your solo tone, being a marshall jvm410h user I tried your od1 and od2 settings.. made my amp sound massive.. don't you find that it's a bit overly bassy or does the tonal characteristics change when the amp is louder?
Never liked fuzz, always sounded like a clipping signal to me. But great video, cant wait to see a lot more videos from you Bea!
Ok I just saw a close up of the pickup rings and I notice Bea has electrical tape on the sides of the pickups. I have also seen Dimebag do that, is there a reason?
Keeps the string from getting caught in the pickup bobbin.
The look on your wee face when you kicked in the uber filth made my day hahaha
I've got an offtopic question. What hi-fi speakers or monitors do you have. I cannot tell the make but I think de model is ES-530 or something, and are they any good. I love the way they look.
Thanks.
I don't know if this is covered already but you're not using the "original" Nuno pickup, Lawrence L500, on your N4 nor on this. Just curious why you don't like/use it cause it would have been nice to see it, or the Dimebucker, on this guitar. The guitar does sound and look beast regardless.
I rarely play with any kind of distortion or fuzz, but this sounds sweeter than sweet!
Have you tried the Bensen germanium temperature fuzz pedal?
Bea, you should defiantly check out Gojira pedal's, They're custom effects made by a guy in Scotland. They're hand painted/custom/replica's. One of my mate's has got one, Bass fuzz *very doomy* with its own buffer and they sound and look tasty, I think you'd like them enough to check them out haha. :D
Might need to get your axe Bea when it launches. Need a job first mind, trying to find one is proving to be a nightmare.
Time for a revisit of this pedal. It's still on your board as of 2020. Makes me wonder what this thing does that others do not. Have you looked for replacements? Or is this "just right" and a keeper on your board? Have you found any new applications for it? New sounds or ways of hooking this one up?
I found one of these (a V2) a few years ago, and not letting it go so far. To me, it's just "a good germanium fuzz without too much options" (think zvex). I think Steve Painter (Buffalo FX) has shut down his webshop (end of july 2020) btw... so these pedals (especially the old form factor) are getting harder to find, as no new ones will be made.
Small update: as of May 2021, I own #13 of the limited range of just 50 of these V1 versions. (with the Matsushita 2SB175 transistors). V2 has Texas Instrument 2N404 transistors fwiw. Not letting either one go for the time being.
Haha wow old video!
I think that’s the thing. I just love the way this fuzz sounds. Applications wise not really much change. I just use it for that sound. I got sent a V2 a few years ago but sadly it’s stopped working.
I saw the eshop shut. But yeah, mine is still going strong, the V1 big brick thing! Love it
@@RabeaMassaad Very old indeed. But still relevant. Even these older reviews I sometimes revisit to steal licks form. :)
Thanks for the reply Rabea!
Stay safe in these strange strange times.
you look so stoned dudeee, love your sound & afro ;D
daaaamn Bea, thought you are gonna keep the tone knob, if you did I would definetly buy that guitar, but now, knowing that there will be no tone knob, I really started thinking that I will pass this one
It makes me happy that Bea knows about Red fang.
When will the next part of your pedal board video's come out?
i'm using the strymon timeline :-)
Is "B" the bias control? not sure though. Great video dude!
hey bea cud i ask a quesion about your sig model? whats the difference between the wax and the satin cuz this guitar wud be perfect for me i just want a guitar that i dont really have to be worried about scratching or cleaning it all the time and would the wax make any difference than the satin? :) thanks in advance i respect you as a player so much and you are immense :)
Hey Bea, so is your ML-1 which will be available to everyone have the upgrades your were talking about!?
Bea, are you into Kings X at all?
Tone wise you're not a million miles away and I'd love to hear you play some of Ty Tabors riffs - 'Over My Head' would go down great guns!
:)
Any ideas how it handles a buffered signal like from my wireless?
When will the signature model be available at andertons?
Will I be able to buy the bea sig chapman eventually?
Nice tune in the end... Is it TOSKA?
I'm a little curious why you have your pickup rings taped, I've seen other people do it before, why do you tape them?
What about the Mini Fuzz Face? Did you get a chance to try one at Namm?
nope, i checked! i tryed litteraly every where i could think of. is it possible its a limmited run?
Thanks!
It's not about the spring having the same tension each as it is the bridge having the correct tension so you can level it properly. There is that very small window what you can't get with tight 3 springs nor loose 4 springs. And those feel definitely different so It's just personal preference.
how do you do the drums? are they programmed or do you play them?
think im gonna go for the wampler fuzz.....i love jvm....used to have same i will get it back lol
Your tone is great! :) but to be honest fuzz suits single coils more for what I do :P I use a jaguar guitar and a Dunlop arbiter fuzz face so it gets that psychedelic rock Hendrix tone :)
the B must stand for bias, it basically is turning down the voltage going into the pedal (or emulating it) as if its run out of battery
F - Fuzz
L - Level
P -Pre-gain
B -Bias
I don't think their is a cheaper set thru, original Floyd, and Duncan loaded guitar put there plus the quilt veneer makes it look amazing!
They usually just keep them, they make fantastic backups.
