I made this back in April with green onions from my garden. It is absolutely spectacular.
I've been enjoying it for almost 2 months now and it just keeps getting better. It's my favorite kimchi by far and it's so easy to make. 😊
Sounds great!
Thank you very much for your nice comments and messages as always! Love you!
Can you mix the veggies in kimchi? It sounds fun.
Do you have a recipe for kimchi not spicy 🥵

Omg I really hope you can get contact again with ms. Yu-Yi 🙏
If i ferment it at room temperature, do i need to open the lid to let it breath everyday? or just keep the lid close directly for 5-7days?
In addition to the food, I always enjoy the stories Maangchi has to tell. Maybe that friend is watching this video right now...we can always hope. >^.^
Sadly people can’t use youtube in China. I so wish she could watch this video and connect with Maangchi again.
she is absolutely adorable. she puts me in a happy mood.
I always watch this kind of vidéo in half doubled speed (and sound off most of the time) but I would never do it to Maangchi videos. I enjoy listening to her so much :)

Thank you so much taking time to share your good memory of friend. It really touched me what you said. Our lives go on and we cannot control it as we wish and sometimes lost contact with friends but still think about them. I am from Japan and have lived in the U.S for 25 years. There are friends I wish we still talk in Japan but I lost contact with them. I was really able to relate to what you shared. I really love your cooking and hearing your memories and experiences. I feel you are really genuine.
Thanks for sharing!!
I made it but i used paprika boya insteaf of something else.
And i taste it and doesent taste amazing at all.
More amazing is romanian food, like onion with a little salt, oil, and vinegar. I dont understand if boya is different or not but is a simple taste for me.
@@landreeall just because u don't like it doesn't mean others won't like it, you don't need to put down on her recipe just because you do not like it
I love the cooking, they look yummy. Lydia
"if you want to punish somebody" ahahahahahahahaha this is an awesome video
Bahahahhahahah indeed--
If EVERYONE in your family eats it, then it won't smell.🤣
"I suggest you only eat on the weekends" you are so wonderful is so many different ways. God bless you and your family
My husband gave me your latest book for my birthday. I absolutely loved it 😍 we eat Korean food at home ALL the time. Thank you for teaching me so much about Korean culture and cuisine. 💜
👍
There are cookbooks?! Thanks for sharing this Elena Garcia!
why is it my favorite thing when Maangchi washes her vegetables! Anyone else???
What I really like Maangchi is that whevener she makes a delicious food she remember someone special in her heart or a good memories. Because of this video I remember my friends who live in Korea. Ham luk Ja, she taught me how to play piano and give me kimchi.Joo Gyou sang Haram and Kim min wook. They are really good friends of mine.
she's the human embodiment of sparkling fairy lights AND she's a living chef's library... i love this channel. for a tastier vegan version of this recipe, i sprinkle it with furikake -- it gives it that seafood-y umami depth, while maintaining the vegan profile.
Det Ser meget lækkert ud
Furikake typically has fish in it though(bonito for instance)
Ocean's Balance has a great vegan brand of furikake
@@ghostid544 yes -- this can be an issue, so i've read many many ingredient labels, hahaha... i've also used seasoned nori snack strips
Do you add other stuff in your version? Im very curious to know. I wanna make a vegan version.
Yu Yi is a kind soul who thought to call about the sale and so is Maangchi who could recognise the kindness and appreciate the gesture. I'm so happy those two had a chance to meet and spend some time together even for a while.
Lol! “You can do it for 30 minutes but I’m busy so Ima do 5 minutes” lol 😂 so funny! Love your videos !
@TigerEyes : )
guys we need to protect this women at any cost
The way she is talking about her stories. Just like always any history in every her recipe. I am addicted.
I just love your stories! Whenever I feel down I head over to your channel and instantly smile just hearing you talk! Thanks for sharing your life with us!
Update: I followed this recipe and it’s absolutely stunningly delicious! Try it out everyone! It’s a very easy recipe to follow!
Ya, ya, ya! lol
@@Maangchi it’s so delicious. I can’t wait to try your other recipes. You are amazing. Stay safe, happy, and healthy dear friend from so far away.
“If you want to punish somebody go ahead” 🤣🤣🤣
I've been watching your videos for years now. Maybe 10 years now. Anyway, thanks for all the great videos and for all the moments of joy. You've been a blessing to us. Making your recipes over the years with family and friends has been some of my favorite memories.
I’ve made this pa kimchi, or any kimchi for that matter, for the first time today. And i LOVE it! 😍 it tasted exactly like how i imagined it to be. It’s really difficult to get pa kimchi here in malaysia, and they sell it for $4 for 150gm online! Me making this saved me $40 for 1.5kg worth of pa kimchi 🎉😍 thanks maangchi for the super easy recipe!
Glad you liked it!!
@@Maangchi thank you maangchi! 😍♥️
I love her
Just came across this channel today cuz my mom loves pa-kimchi. This is the 2nd video i watched from this channel (first was about the cabbage kimchi). These recipes are legit/traditional and very helpful. Definitely glad I came across the videos and I loved the wholesome story about your friend...it was a very touching and nice life lesson too
THANK YOU!!! 🥰😊😊😊
Hope you will meet Mrs. Yu-yi again
❤️
Her stories are beautifully relatable and heart pulling. I will always cherish her videos.
Oh, I love this whole video. Food truly brings all cultures together. I love your memories of a woman you met long ago whom you still remember with such fondness.
I love the stories you tell in the end🫠🪴❤️
U r so right about meeting wonderful people in our lives!! So glad I came across ur utube channel!..
I love your channel!
I have been struggling with the remnants of a nasty flu, and watching this is so soothing and comforting.
Thank you so much for making these videos!
I think the facts that there's so many stories attached to all the recipes you've made really causes you to love said food not only for its taste but for the memories itself, too. That is such a beautiful thing. :')
I had actually just watched an episode of BTS Run where they had made green onion kimchi. I immediately wanted to make my own and then you have posted this video. Perfect timing! I cannot wait to try it as I love your recipes. ❤️
Also, I am a resident of New Jersey! I was so excited when you had mentioned stopping by.
Same here💜️💜️😍 perfect timing!
Same here, hi armyyy
I've been meaning to make pa-kimchi since the Run Episode too 😂😂😂
That RUN episode was when I actually realised that you can make kimchi with green onions, radishes & perilla leaves apart from cabbage 💜
I love the way mrs. Maangchi talks about her friends and the way she shares the recipe 💚💚💚

I am trying this recipe. So simple and delicious.
This woman is a salt of the Earth type of person. She understands good people when she sees it. When upon talking about her Chinese friend, it shows in her eyes. What a wonderful being! I can't wait to make this and share with loved ones in my life 💓
cooking while watching her video is just gives kdrama vibes.. it feels like you are cooking with ajumma and she is telling you her old days stories and also motivating and encouraging you..wow

I LOVED the end story of your recipe!
I watched it again after a long time and finally decided to comment on this one of my favorite story of Maangchi, I can't hold my poor heart when it comes to something about friendship this several past years, what a sweet moment Maangchi! Hope we can get a good updates so we can know you're in a happy reunion sooner. Thankyou for your Pa kimchi's recipe and always let us know and teach us a bunch variety of korean cuisine ❤.

@@Maangchi YAY! I do hopefully too 🎆
Awe, the ending is so special. Love the ones who love you!!
Clicked immediately and super happy for a kimchi onion recipe! I love both soo much.
I love your videos so much! I love learning your recipes and listening to your lessons. You are a wonderful person! Thank you so much
I stumbled upon your videos and I just love them!!! You are the sweetest and so fun to watch. The food you make looks just delicious!!!

I really love your heartfelt stories after cooking. My favorite story of yours was in the north korean eggplant recipe video.
Totally made my day. Green onions rock, so I’m so happy to know about this kimchi!

👏
Yummy recipe. I can never get enough of Kimchi of any type. I love the taste and flavors.😃✨✨
I love the way you talk, how wise you are and kindhearted
Wow! This went from simple cooking video to Maangchi Top Ten so fast! Be well and happy, M. Love your content. 🙏🏻
I just made this using another recipe just last week. It turned out great, but I will definitely follow your lead to cut it. The scallions were THICK!
I love how she just answer the questions before even asking. I wanted to ask if i could use soya sauce instead of fish sauce since I'm vegetarian and also the sugar that was brown.
: ) 👍
You are so adorable Maangchi 🥰❤️
I love watching your videos. I will be making this kimchi. Thank You for sharing. God Bless You 🙏🏻❤️
This video was absolutely lovely to watch from start to finish. I loved the story at the end. Really made my day! PS: I make your kimchi twice a year, each batch lasts six months and I always use the last of it to make kimchi jjigae. Thank you for all your recipes!
Maangchi is one of sweetest, most wonderful persons on UA-cam. I enjoy the stories she shares about her life and her friends and family and her genuine warmth makes me feel truly good about the world. Feels embarrassing to say but it feels good to see a person looking back at moments of her life with so much love, appreciation and gratitude....
That’s really a nice story. Thanks for sharing :) God bless you
We need to find Mrs. Yu-yi and unite them again, my heart can't take it 😭
Thank you for sharing! I love this recipe ♥️🥰
I love how warm memories can be tied up with food memories, thank you for sharing
Spring Onion Kimchi, Pa-Kimchi is one of most Koreans favourite. My top favourite. Most other part of the world, sprinng onion is condiments or just a garnish, but (Shil - meaning 'thin')Pa is main dish, Pa-Kimchi, Pa-Jeon, top Koreans favourite dish.
I just made pa kimchi using your recipe (I used soya sauce) now it's being fermented, I'll taste it after a day cause I've heard it tastes much better when it's fermented!
That memory of you and your friend and your words made me emotional. Beautifully said ❤
If any of you have access to the thinner "tree onions" or "Egyptian onions"(Allium × proliferum, known as 쪽파/jjokpa in Korean), you can use that instead (cutting isn't necessary in that case). Tree onions are the standard type of green onions used for pa-kimchi in Korea. However, this type which uses "Welsh onions"(대파/daepa) has also become popular in the recent years, especially after Kim Soo-mi showcased a recipe using daepa.
Lovely. I have egyptian onions in my garden :D
@@yllejord Nice! Go for it!
😋😋 I had to save this video to my playlist of “Food”!! I love kimchi and also green onions, so I think I can make this recipe at home.
omg i just love Maangchi, her story telling and her foods... hmmm yum yumm!!
This sweet lady is a treasure trove of recipes and really lovely stories of a life well lived and enjoyed! Love her!
Duuuude! My parents love love loved this! I made a small batch it’s almost done 😂 (made the soy version btw, not fish)
Glad you liked it!!
Did you keep on counter? For how many days did you do keep it to ferment on your counter?
@@sigmaxcc had it just after an 1 hour, Still very good. There was very little left. 😂 We finished it before it in 2 days, never refrigerated it, just put it on the table along with other pickles and sides.
You are great Maangchi. Your stories and wise advice (onion breathe ☺️) are always so nice 👍🏽
Its so satisfying how perfectly that fit into the container
Love Maangchi’s food, presentation and stories. 💕
