  • This time I'm doing some maintenance and modifications on the 1994 Chevrolet S10 Blazer to see if I can get some more MPGs out of the 4.3L V6.
    Maintenance items include; checking ignition timing and engine vacuum, New Plug Wires, a quick intake cleaning, and an oil change.
    Modifications: New 2.5 Cherry Bomb Salute Muffler, Front Belly Pan to reduce aerodynamic drag, and Dual Electric Fan conversion.
    For full Details on the Electric Fan Conversion check out detailed video I made of that process: • Upgrading to Dual Elec... .
    If you like to do anything I've done, here is a partial list of parts I've replaced, and upgrades I've made.

    I have a 1987 s10 blazer and I’ve been wanting to work on it but it’s hard to find other guys on here that have a blazer and provide step by step mods and maintenance videos such as yourself. Thanks man!

    i am 16 and i just got a 94 4 door s10 blazer as my first @t uncle gave it to me because it had some things to be fixed and he was frustrated with it.He already had a truck he wanted so he was gonna get it scrapped.I brought up that i was looking for a small truck/suv and he brought up the blazer and few days later we went to pick it up.Runs great and only has 155,000 MILES.It has a 3 inch lift, aggressive all terrain tires, and has exhaust upgrade.

      Sounds like you've got a nice uncle. 155k is pretty low mileage for a 1st gen these days. I'm up to 246k. Thank you for saving another one from the scrap yard!!

    Great job in your mods and improving your gas mileage. I have something going on with my 94 Blazer. I when you first start it up, it makes a loud sound like the fan blade is hitting the shroud. After it warms up, the noise goes away, and runs smooth. You know your Blazers and just wondered if you have any idea of what it could be. I like how you do your own maintenance. Thanks for having very informative videos. Green/beige Blazer from Ohio.

      Thank You! Does it happen every time you start it, or only on cold starts? It's possible it's your belt tensioner, one of the pulleys and/or accessories. I've replaced all of that on mine because they were making horrible noises. Could be that your fan clutch is bad, but with out a little more info I'm just guessing. Pop the hood and have someone start it to see if you can narrow down where it's coming from, make sure nothing is hitting or loose.

      It has the 4.3 Vortec engine with 89,000 original miles. It is a lot louder in the colder months than it is in the warmer months. It is also gets louder when I back up and turn the wheel. Very weird. Then after the engine warms up it sounds smooth and normal and doesn’t do it again until the next cold start up. Also It has no power loss and runs great after it warms up.

      @@randyluca6339 99% sure that's your Power Steering Pump then. It's also not uncommon for these trucks to develop steering box issues too. I had to replace the steering box, but I still need to replace my PS pump. The pump is like $50-60 at the store, and a relatively easy swap. Just be sure to get one with the reservoir, and remember you'll need to rent a puller to swap the pulley.

    I also have a cpi 1994 and that little valve I believe depends on how much throttle you give.

      Correct, it changes the intake runner length for increased torque at low rpm, and more HP at higher rpm.

    Can you do a video about your headliner please? I just got a 1994 Chevy s10 blazer and i finally took 4 hours out my day and detailed the whole inside but unfortunately I bought it with no headliner and I don’t want to pay 200$ for a new one

    • @VHickleGarage
      @VHickleGarage  3 роки тому

      I'll try to get something together on that. One of the areas I haven't messed with yet. Do you have the molded part of the headliner, or is it down to the steel? If you don't have that you're prob going to end up spending some money. When I get to it, I'm going to try to strip and recover mine with some material I found on ebay for $70.
