my 2013 Nissan pathfinder has the exact same problem! I use a ribbon to hold it up but still a hazard. I am about to order a new one online and have my husband install it to save money but after reading those comments, I might not order a new one because it will break again and waste of money
Ordered one today all cars junks plastic parts made to break ..if they can make a ketchup bottle that can be reopened 1000 times they can make a visor that goes up and down correctly..
HHUUGGEE PAIN IN THE ( l ) . Why replace it with the same thing just to break again?! I think I may just completely remove mine. Or rig it up somehow. Anyone have any suggestions on how to do the latter?
I am having the same issue with my car. Are there any updates on this recall?
I just fixed my 2 sun visors last weekend.. it was quick and simple .. I just had to put a tie-knot and works pretty good..The only thing though is I had to cut through the fabric but that doesn't really bother me at least I saved over $200
Same issue on our QX60 2014. Driver side is down fully and the pessenger side is 50% there to be fallen.... i have seen a friend's pathfinder with the same issue. both of these cars share a lot of parts including these visors so same issue...
We own a 2013 Nissan Pathfinder Platinum with broken sun visors. The dealer replaced the driver side visor while under factory warantee. the passenger side broke about six months later Should be recalled due to defective parts......
I am having the same issue with my passenger visor UGH no warranty thanks for all the comments purchasing one today
I've replaced 3 of the door handles and need to replace both the visors now. Same thing happened to me with the visor almost causing an accident.
Same here I did not think it was a problem when I about it. But later on when I am in highway it keep failing and blocking 🚫 my views. It totally dangerous.
I have an appointment next Wednesday (6/28/17) to take my 2014 Pathfinder into the dealer where I bought it in N.Charleston, SC. The service tech, Jake, admitted it was an ongoing problem and that he would replace it, gratis, even though technically it's not covered under warranty. I would think they would since they know about the problem and it's a safety issue.
Mine too! Plus, the door handles break! I've replaced two in the within about 3 months of each other. I replaced them and they are very cheaply made so no wonder they broke. You won't know it's broken until you need to get out.
My 2013 Pathfinder has this same visor issue, I found this video while looking for a fix. We have already replaced one door handle too. At 65k miles, these are ridiculous things to break! Come on Nissan!
Have the same issue on our JX35. Both visors won't stay up. So frustrating and unsafe
Mine just broke on 2013. Thanks for a video
I have 2 Nissan Pathfinders 2010 and 2011 both have problems with the driver side sun visors
Hi! Was there ever a recall on the visor. I was searching for a video on how to replace myself and ran across this video. I also had top replace the front ds and ps door handles.
ME TOO! I have a driver side visor that is doing the same thing, and I already replaced the door handle! WTF for the amount of money paid for these vehicles, we shouldn't have cheap plastic holding everything together. Frustrating!
My 2013 Pathfinder driver side sun visor needs replaced, had to replace the driver door handle and now a few months later I have to replace rear driver door handle.
@@amandaschroeder3431 I also had door handle break but warranty covered that. Just don't get why it doesn't cover the sun visor.
YES! Ive replaced about 1200+ door handles on 13 and newer Altimas and Pathfinder both driver and passenger including front and rear doors! Not mention the other 1000+ Visors!
Ugh...popping sound when using the drivers side visor, I noticed a few months after I bought my 2013 Pathfinder. Now it sags more and more each day and is a hazard. My extended warranty doesn't cover it, My dealer said Nissan will help with costs if under 48K miles and I am at 51K. $141.00 for visor and a hr. labor ($60) at my dealer in Montana. I might try and complain directly to dealership and I will save my reciepts as suggested here. I was thinking maybe I could replace the visor myself, has anyone else purchased the visor and replaced it themselves?
Thanks for posting this video. Have you received any news about a recall? I called Nissan, and they act as if they haven't heard of any complaints about this.
John Smith Thats funny Nissan of North America as well as many Nissan/Infiniti franchises are very well aware, like I commented before another post here they actually asked us to do this video so they can work on making it a recall somce we do a lot of business with them. We are just waiting for them to go ahead with the aproval for the recall.
John Smith Guys if you guys replaced it paid please keep your reciepts! Once they issue the recall you can take your reciepts for a refund!
Frank Royz I bought a oem replacement from ebay. Worked great. Such a relief to not have to fight that thing anymore. Receipt kept!
I'm so upset I bought the 2014 pathfinder and when I took it to the Nissan service center they formed me that I would cost $185 to replace my driver side visor and the service manger admitted to these problems . He actually said the 2014 cars have the same issues come to find out it's all models dosen't matter which year. Didn't get it fixed , looking online to find one myself. Nissan will not fix this unless someone has a serious accident because of poor visibility and they get sued.
Yeah I have same issue both side I’m 5/11 tall i can’t drive it can cause accident I went to dealership they asking me same almost $400 for both side We need to sue .
I have a 2013 Pathfinder in Phoenix, AZ and both my driver and passenger side visor broke. So frustrating to pay for the Platinum model but have cheap parts. But it's not cheap to repair.
K Santana Guys if you guys replaced it paid please keep your reciepts! Once they issue the recall you can take your reciepts for a refund!
i have this same problem right now with my 2014 pathfinder. it is obviously a manufacturer defect and a safety issue but they dealership is saying i have to pay for the repairs. this is utter nonsense and this should be a recall issue
My wife has a 2013 pathfinder with the same problem. We had to order a visor online since Nissan wanted a 200 dollars to replace it. It's a problem with muranos and Sentras as well. They have a real problem, but I have not seen a recall yet.
We're hoping to get the issue corrected Nissan of North America actuallu asked us to make this video
Wayne McCrory Guys if you guys replaced it paid please keep your reciepts! Once they issue the recall you can take your reciepts for a refund!
I had the same issue!!Nissan didn't care... I will save my receipts... This is NOT a normal thing to break in a car!
I've had my visors replaced once. and currently in need of having it replaced Again [i think it's been about a yr maybe 1.5 yrs since it was last replaced]. purchased pathfinder in late july 2013. Last time they did the replacement under my warranty. now they claim it is past warranty and won't replace it without payment from me. Just Beware folks! Frustrating!!!
My visor on the driver's side of my 2015 Pathfinder broke completely (hanging down all the way) and the passenger side is hanging down about 1.5 inches.
why is there no recall on this product?
Same problem but with both sides on a 2014 Pathfinder in Oklahoma. I agree with Frank, need a recall!!!!
Baine Sams Guys if you guys replaced it paid please keep your reciepts! Once they issue the recall you can take your reciepts for a refund!
I h as ve a 2014 and both my visor and today my door handle. As well as the driver seat adjusters coming off....
My handle broke too, temporary fix you can use the back passenger handle, but buy a set of LH handle and RH on ebay and it really cheap with the same quality as factory and color to match. None with my visor, but it don't snap in place with the roof liner, just cause small gap. I would use the all-weather clear sticky-back Velcro for now to hold it up.
Yes here at the dealership we've also had that issue. It also affects the 13 and newer Altimas but not as frequent as the Pathfinders visors, maybe 100 or so door handles.
snakeye2669 Guys if you guys replaced it paid please keep your reciepts! Once they issue the recall you can take your reciepts for a refund!
Does anyone know if there is update on Nissan issuing a recall for this? I took my Pathfinder to the Nissan dealership in Sterling VA today for a number of other recalls and they said the visor still wasn't covered. I asked how much to replace both visors as they are both failing. They quoted me $280 per visor, plus minimum $125 per hour, and they said it could take more than 1 hour per visor to replace.....so basically $1000 to replace the visors!!!!! Obviously, I did not agree and just had them fix the known recalls.
Jamie S No recall yet, but thats too steep for a visor, and it only take 8 minutes or 10 minutes to replace them.
Jamie S it takes 20 minutes done. My Nissan dealership is the one that told me.
I have the same problem. 2014 Pathfinder. The plastic is soft and Nissan will not replace. It's a safety issue that needs to be recalled. Door handle already broke as well. Terrible. Rear lift gate stays, control arm, and roof seals are bad. Don't buy this car. Transmission also had a class action lawsuit filed for slipping at low speeds.
Two door handles broke on mine too within months of each other. Now the child safety box in the door is what's broken and you can't get out from the inside.
Yea I have 2014 pathfinder both side of my pathfinder sun visor falling down that’s so stupid they need to recall to fix this issue my driver side and also the passenger side both broken . I went to the dealership they asking more then $350 that so crazy and they so stupid, in my SV model my lift gate open button broke down I can’t open from inside there is no way and they asking me more then $500.
I had the same issue, but my dealership didn't tell me anything until the warranty was over, and Nissan refused to fix it because I have 75,000 miles even though the car is 2 years old.
George Hirapetian Guys if you guys replaced it paid please keep your reciepts! Once they issue the recall you can take your reciepts for a refund!
When I called my extended 100,000 warranty they told me it was a trim on the car and they didn't cover the repair.
$174.00 for the visor and 16.00 for the bold hole cover not counting the service charge for replacing it. Bunch of BS
I've got the same issue with my 2013 Pathfinder. Drivers side has been ripped off as it was a driving hazzard, now passenger side is just hanging also. Agree that these cars cost too much to have these issues. What is Nissan going to do?
Stefanie Scott Guys if you guys replaced it paid please keep your reciepts! Once they issue the recall you can take your reciepts for a refund!
same issue for our 2014 pathfinder in Weston, Florida. Our local dealer wants $150 each to replace.
Mouse Media Interactive Guys if you guys replaced it paid please keep your reciepts! Once they issue the recall you can take your reciepts for a refund!
Same issue on a 2013 in Massachusetts. Keep us updated if you hear anything from Nissan.
Jordan Brown Guys if you guys replaced it paid please keep your reciepts! Once they issue the recall you can take your reciepts for a refund!
+Frank Royz thanks!
Same problem and it is a problem!! The dealer wanted over $200 to replace it.
halrose57 Guys if you guys replaced it paid please keep your reciepts! Once they issue the recall you can take your reciepts for a refund!
I currently have same issues? Any advise?
I own a 2013 Nissan Murano SL with a faulty driver's side visor which obstructs my vision and posses a safety risk. Nissan needs to find a solution to this ongoing problem.
Juan Koponen Guys if you guys replaced it paid please keep your reciepts! Once they issue the recall you can take your reciepts for a refund!
I suggest everyone post on their facebook page and tweeter and say something about class action suite that may get them moving to recall this simple repair. we have two that do this.
I agree, Nissan of North America acually asked me to make this video .
Daniel No Way Guys if you guys replaced it paid please keep your reciepts! Once they issue the recall you can take your reciepts for a refund!
Our 2013 Nissan Pathfinder issues:
1. Floppy sun visor...still broken and SUCH a nuisance.
2. (Engine?) shudders/judders while we drive, randomly and occassionally
3. Power window on driver side door broke, fixed it on our own. Motor still worked, so we replaced the cable that had snapped.
4. Inside door handle on driver side broke also, fixed it on our own.
5. Soft rubbery trim of door frame to the back seat keeps popping off its track.
UGH, so frustrating.
We have already taken the car in for a recall.
Anybody get the legal notice about the class action lawsuit against Nissan North America for the "transmission vibration or judder" on the 2013-2014 pathfinders?
My 2014 Pathfinder has the same issue. crazy that the visor cost over $100. just bought a side mirror for $50 and that looks more expensive. I hold up the visor with my son's ninja turtle head band tied around the roof handle thing above my side window. I hope Nissan makes a recall before this causes an accident.
Carlos Atown Guys if you guys replaced it paid please keep your reciepts! Once they issue the recall you can take your reciepts for a refund!
Dealer wanted $250 for replacement of one visor. If fabric is bubbled near the hinge, it can be fixed. 1. Remove the visor. Slit the top edge with razor knife. Cut along the top edge as seam will be hidden. Pull back fabric and drill 1/8” hole at center of break (about 3/4” in from edge). Note wires to light are at very edge, so be careful not to cut. Use a 3/4” long bolt and two fender washers on each side. Draw screw tight. Use a Dremel to cut off remaining bolt. Then center punch the cut end to prevent unthreading. Place some masking tape over screws as backing. Pull fabric back to point of original cut. Blind stitch fabric, and sew across seam. Reinstall, visor will work fine.
Ken Jisa I shall try this in the morning at our service shop! We have hundreds of broken visors in our spare parts bins !
Frank Royz If you have hundreds, maybe we can work out a deal. Ha! Can certainly repair them for less than half that. I can sen you a pic of a finished repair, just not sure how to attach here.
how do you center punch the bolt?
Luke Newmann
I’m certain the metal is hardened spring steel. I used a carbide but. If you drill right next to the steel, you can still clamp the spring. Assembly. I have pictures but no good way to post them here. Maybe need to make a video?
I am having the same problem with both visors. This should not be happening...simply made poorly. This needs to be recalled.
So how hard is it to replace?
Easy to replace. It has three screws and a connector. The real problem is the cost ($120 at local dealer).
Thanks
+Gary Gyore how do You remove old visor?
fairly easy to replace, first remove the the cap that covers the 2 screw, careful as this cover is very brittle and the clips could break. remove the two screws and repeat for instaltion.
I'm experiencing the same issue...aghhh!!! 2013
Im the proud owner of the 1997 Mercedes S-320 and all of my sun visors are in brand new shape and they stay put like the care came out of the factory just yesterday. My wife’s 2013 infinity/nissan visor had been replaced by me 2 times already.
Now save get better one. It's totally disappointing.
I have 2017 pathfinder which I have same issue. so I removed it.
2014 Pathfinder. This is really a safety issue. Obviously, the spring in the visors are not designed correctly. You can't drive with broken visors. I'm getting about 10,000 miles per set of visors. Ridiculous! NISSAN OF NORTHA AMERICA faulty workmanship
I have similar problem in my pathfinder 2013 in Saudi Arabia . They change it once and now it is broken again
Once weve replaced the visors customers call back about 2 months or so to complain on this issue
They should recall this issue my 15 pathfinder I bought back in October of 2016 has this problem Nissan wants to charge me $130 for both visors complete bullsh**.
I just had to remove my sun visor to my 2013 Nissan Pathfinder today because of this because I couldn't take it hanging any longer!
This is pathetic. My Pathfinder isn't quite 3 years old and I have this problem. I bought hybrid and platinum so you can imagine my annoyance at this. It should NOT break. Not like this. This is my 3rd pathfinder and probably my last. I am quickly falling out of love.
This happened to both our visors and we had to ripe them off, so yeah that's going to cost us. But come on recall it!
I finally had to rip off my sun visor on my 2013 Pathfinder in Odenton Maryland. Nothing would hold it up! My passenger side is hanging slightly but only a matter of time before that one goes too. Come on Nissan please do something about this!!!
Michelle Pina Guys if you guys replaced it paid please keep your reciepts! Once they issue the recall you can take your reciepts for a refund!
Replaced the driver's side and now have to replace the passenger side visor.
Well i have the same problem and i changed it the last year by warranty, but this year is broken again. This car is not a premium car.
Same here we have customers call back a couple months later for the complain
jaivancelis Guys if you guys replaced it paid please keep your reciepts! Once they issue the recall you can take your reciepts for a refund!
I have the same problem. I guess I am just going to have to have it replaced.
When you replace it ask if you could have a 1-year warranty on the visor they go bad after a couple months.
Patrick Jones Guys if you guys replaced it paid please keep your reciepts! Once they issue the recall you can take your reciepts for a refund!
PLEASE fix this issue! I do not feel safe driving my infant around! The visor is $140 at Nissan! Not including labor!
These vehicles cost TOO much for this to an issue!
Thank you!
what state do you live in?
Kenji Livingston Guys if you guys replaced it paid please keep your reciepts! Once they issue the recall you can take your reciepts for a refund!
Had the same issue with my 2013 infiniti
My wife's 2015 Pathfinder has the same problem
yes they still have not resolved this, Nissan of North America actually asked if I could make this video in order so they can take it up and see if they"ll do a recall. Since this video we've purchased 300 Pathfinders and Ive had to replace 212 visors so far. what state do you live in?
rcpilot2007 Guys if you guys replaced it paid please keep your reciepts! Once they issue the recall you can take your reciepts for a refund!
Yes it is alot off money. I even try to fix it 200$ plus other. It's awful. I am very disappointed on it. I have not drove it 2yrs yet but just to repair one time 6000$
that's exactly same damn thing happened to my 2014 pathfinder.i called in nissan service center to explain that is on-going issue. they asked me to bring my car in. just see what they will do for me.
will update soon
The visor after replaced usually lasts 2 to 5 months they it will break again.
Luke Jeung Guys if you guys replaced it paid please keep your reciepts! Once they issue the recall you can take your reciepts for a refund!
if that ever happens
Nissan Blows. My visor did the same thing but with the passenger visor. Had to replace it. Also all the door handles break easy. Will never never never buy a Pathfinder again. Junk.
Still no recall.., its ridiculous! I have a 2015 Pathfinder and I am currently fighting with it. Gonna remove it and just drive without. My 2001 Pathfinder has never had this issue. File a complaint with the NHTSA and see if it starts the ball rolling on a recall.., this is a serious issue that results in lose of visibility while driving. My current driver's side visor is hanging down so far it almost completely restricts my vision, so I have to drive with one hand on the wheel and the other on the visor, smh. (www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/VehicleComplaint/)
I used my son ninja turtle bandana and tied it between the handle above the door.
The only fix is not to buy a Nisan again ..
Our JX35 has same issue.
Cole Sims Guys if you guys replaced it paid please keep your reciepts! Once they issue the recall you can take your reciepts for a refund!
I fixed mine with a metal rod and a zip tie you can’t even tell now
If you almost hit a car because the visor fell then you were way to close to the car in front of you and/or your a bad driver.
Im not I can assure you that. I was fidgetting trying to put the visor up but it would not work.
My visor did the exact same thing.
Shirolyn Fredette Guys if you guys replaced it paid please keep your reciepts! Once they issue the recall you can take your reciepts for a refund!
buying a visor today. hazardous
to fix: ua-cam.com/video/Ph5R_BsHmoo/v-deo.html
nissan knows this is a problem but won't do anything until they get sued
No compren Nissan , is better Honda o Toyota
So how hard is it to replace?
Remove cover from the the visor where it attaches the the roof of the car the unscrew two screws and repeat for installation
Benjamin Witt Guys if you guys replaced it paid please keep your reciepts! Once they issue the recall you can take your reciepts for a refund!
