Great to see your pastor and his son learning from you how to forge! I am jealous of them! I suppose I should not covet my neighbor's famous teacher...
This right here is the reason why UA-cam is great - teaching videos - and not only teaching - but showing the skills and showing them as you teach others - GREAT JOB!!!
It was a pleasure to watch you take your Pastor and his son thru the process of making amazing knifes. God has blessed you with artistry and a servants heart.
Will, it has been a wonderful trip so far watching you grow. With you working with Alec, and now you are teaching others. That is something that young man will remember for the rest of his life, not just the knife build but also the time spent with his father. Keep up the good work and can't wait to see how far and where your journeys takes you.
Props to Pastor Charlie & son for being good students, I wish my pastor was as cool growing up and I wouldn't be nearly the godless degenerate I am now :)
That was great Will, the best part of teaching someone a skill is knowing they’ll remember it forever. Especially the youngster.Even if he is never involved in another forge build Asher will always have memories of how his knife was made.Good on you!
This was a cool one. Taking time to teach is always a good thing. That young man will most likely treasure the memory of heating and beating metal. Should be a scouting merit badge in that lol.
Watching you teach not only another person, but his young son as well. That child has learnt skills that could help him in the future, you are apart of that future now. Kudos.
Videos like this show how the apprenticeship model still feels relevant for trades like blacksmithing. Many of the processes aren't that hard to comprehend, but just take lots and lots of practice to actually do effectively. As much hands-on learning as possible, so that you can master every step a little bit at a time!
Sometimes we think of our dads as superheroes that knows everything. But to see your own dad continue to show that he's a life-long learner just set an amazing example for that kid. He probably thinks his dad is awesome; but also humble to always eager to stop and learn from other skillful craftsmen of the world. This video was just 100% wholesome. These guys traded life lessons and skills with each other, and the kid learned in person not only how a knife is crafted; but how adults should always interact in a manner to learn skills from each other to build communities. One hammer blow one at a time.
Teaching the young the skills you have is a great calling. Ministering to the needs of a congregation and nurturing the love of God is a greater calling.
I like the design of the knife, very close to what I have been looking for. Good to see a dad allowing his son to get involved with the forging, have a sharp knife and having him hunt, too many parents wrap their children in cotton wool now. Also noticed Will is wearing a copper band, I hope he is not rheumatic at his age, after a couple of car and bike accidents in the 70s and 80s I have been wearing copper, sounds like rubbish but I think it helps.
Everything Will touches is GOLD. The thought of making matching custom knives with my son is amazing. If you aren't already doing this, making a unique set of knives for a Grandfather/father/Sons/daughters/brothers/sisters would be amazing!
Will, I wish more people were like you. You are industrious, charactered, a Patriot, and you know from Whom your power comes. If our country and Constitution is to be preserved. It will be by people like you. He>I.
I have my grandfathers hunting knife passed down to me through my father. It is old and vintage for sure, but I imagine it was store bought run of the mill at the time. If it were hand crafted by them like you have done here it would be that much more amazing. Hopefully what you all have created here will be used and passed down through that family for generations to come.
