You have no idea how much joy it brings me to see you on your own journey and doing so god damn well at it. Keep on keeping on my dude, you are doing awesome.
Will, Will, Will, how hard did you hit your head man? The Will Stelter I’ve followed would have been all OVER the cobbler jokes. Peach, strawberry, blueberry….you had endless possibilities and you didn’t do it once?! Maybe get an MRI?
Watching his fingers near that bandsaw when he was cutting that wedge gave me chills; I get that he knows what he's doing, but that's something most of the people who lose their fingers in the shop would probably say.
Nice to see the school of young dumb fuckery of time saving lazy non thinking. One reason to learn from your elders and betters, less painful for starts!
Will thank you so much for sharing with us your excellent work. You are a true inspiration. Please try to be more careful that spill you took could have been worse but I'm glad to see you are doing well. Can't wait to see what comes next.
Beautiful work and craftsmanship, Will. You have some great work ethic in you too for not just quitting for the day after beaning yourself like that. Hope your head is alright and no concussions were had. Thanks for the video. Be safe.
I love the light music in the beginning of the Damascus making, lets you understand the detailed work put into it even more. For me its sometimes more pleasing to watch than allways " loud, hot and heavy "
Love it. No shitty commercials from a tin, just flat out documentary about the industry of the shop sponsoring you. This is how it should be done, with immersion and creating interest by showing people that tools (that includes shoes etc.) don't magically appear in the shop. Also, at 4:31 - the point with the STOP tab over the stop button is to press it to stop the machine instead of having to lift the tab each time.
I did notice that also but he wasn't stitching anything onto the welt. If the glue does its job right it will hold just fine without an outsole stitch. I'd remove every stitch and probly go a leather midsole goodyeared on then vibram commando, heel stack top lift etc... Assuming that's what the customer wanted sometimes people want to save money on the repair not all repairs get the works regrettably. I feel in this instance the guys have gave Will a crash course on shoe repairs and from what I see he's done a fantastic job first time around. You don't learn shoe repair over night, I'm 12 years in and I'm still learning.

Well, he will pay attention to the possibility of the wrench slipping for at least like... the next month-ish... so there's that. That said, glad you didnt blast yourself there will. That could have been bad.
@@bengossler6193 I rewatched the clip like 10 times. It's somewhat interesting. Actually the wrench did not slip. What happened was, in my opinion, that as he kept pulling back he was applying pressure to the release lever linkage, and finally the jaws opened because it was pushed so much causing the workpiece to no longer be held strongly in the jaws of the machine.
Will, you really have a talent for creativity and style. The shapes that you grind knife handles, hammers, and blades into are beautifully shaped and still very functional. I was sad to see you leave Alec's shop but, I am really enjoying your videos now too! Great work!!
Will, my heart stopped when you fell off that machine, you have to stop climbing on things, especially when holding very hot metal. And then to show it again in slow motion. Genius

My father will retire in the next few years after over 120year of cobbler history. in the family. That video inspires me to try forging him on of these as a symbol of the hard work he put on his trade...thanks for the inspiration!

Great humor and fantastic to see the steps of what cobblers do. Thank you so much for making this and I definitely know what boots I will be getting next, thanks for the great review!
Glad you did no damage on that fall. That is one good looking hammer, I don't cobble but I want one. If you are any kind of craftsman, it isn't possible to have too many hammers, I am at eighteen at the moment, so few because I had a break in at my last shop.
Hey Will, when you were working with Alec we saw you and Alec using the powerhammer to forge weld damascus billets. Here we see you using the press. Is there a specific reason for that?
Hey just like riding a bike, your not learning unless your falling. What an excellent hammer ("can't touch this") I hope Nick's appreciates how much time and effort went into making it. Me every time someone correctly puts a head on a handle by tapping on the bottom: "Inertia is a property of matter."
As a woodworker; Is there any other way? Hammers, hand plane adjustments, etc. Tap it the opposite way you'd think, works like a charm.
"Inertia is a property of matter" said in that high pitched voice from the opening theme to Bill Nye's show...
