I made the roughest version of this knife.About 7 years ago. I didn't buff it or anything.I heated the steel, shaped it, sharpened it and that was it. I still have it. I've probably sharpened it 3 times and its still one of the best bushcraft knifes I've ever made.
Just today I left a comment under the Russian-language video, where many criticized the Tracker version, despite the fact that it coped with most tasks! I wrote that if a skilled craftsman completes some inaccuracies in the design, then it will be an excellent working knife for heavy work in the forest! It looks like this is the option I imagined it to be! Great job! 👍
The first liquid is an acid, which gives it this dark color. It's called ferric perchloride. You can find it online to buy it in powder form or already diluted in water. And the second liquid is water with baking soda, it serves as an acid neutralizer. 👍👍👍
@@BrokenTengu99 Not directly, if you polish with a paste it lasts much longer than if you hadn't done it with acid. But to keep the rust at bay, it is better to bathe it with manganese phosphate. It will leave the blade dark and protected from rust.
Well....its more inspired from the movie. I paid close attention to the fine details of the hunted, fillet blade, and the spine was or is supposed to be serrated. The details were laid out plainly. But no biggies still a sweet looking piece. And Tom Brown didn't couldn't get it right either. Still a great version of a sweet badass blade.
You are a skilled fella! I really like your knife. The video took me back to my happy days, when I had tools, a shop and time to make knives. Congrats!
That one (two, actually, the one was rubber) knife in the movie wasn't Brown's tracker, but Dave Beck's version of it instead, and i presonaly prefer the one over original Brown's. Nice job, mate, you're one of two people i've seen who pulled the work as close to original as possible, all top-notch.
That knife looks like it has it's own gravitational field with smaller knives orbiting it hahaha. Beautiful work, I'm envious of your skills! A Tracker design is on my list of one day being able to build without it looking like a Salvador Dali painting 😂
Well done indeed. I wonder what kind of steel that was, what you used to blacken it, and how well the saw edge worked. I bought mine but have been wanting to make one myself. The one i have is different on the saw part.
@@MakerHA you should make a bow with it. That's what the tracker was designed for. I made one with mine but I violated a growth ring and it snapped. But it shot fast. Lol
Thank you my friend. The first is an acid, called hydrochloric acid or ferric perchloride. And the second is water with baking soda to neutralize the acid. 👍👍👍
Good job, what about the sheath? I wouldn't mind a tracker if it was stainless with an 8"blade.The tops version is a brick and I thought i heard dave beck doesn't make the wsk anymore
I don't sell it, send me a message on instagram or facebook and I'll send you. As for the pattern of the mountain range, it's complicated to explain a little here 👍👍👍
