    Im a licensed cosmetologist and you did a great job relaxing your hair. You were mindful of application timing, replenished your hair bonds with the keratin treatment and picked excellent products to prep your blow dry with. You have beautiful hair. And I've had clients literally in tears because their hair was kinky coily that sometimes they couldn't even get a comb through it. So ill never knock a relaxer. Have you ever heard of a texture release? Instead of chemical its an amino conditioner straightening system. I love the one by Avalon...
    Great job luv ✨

      From my understanding, a texture release system is a very mild relaxer. Same chemicals with a different ratio which leads to a unique formaltion. At this is according to Jean Madeline Aveda Institute, I inquired about this particular service.

    Your hair is gorgeous!! I don't think people realize how long the hair actually takes to process and they assume as soon as you put the relaxer on It's automatically making the hair straight when in actuality that's not the case especially if you have a more course texture. I don't self relax anymore, but when I did, I stopped using timers and took my time relaxing because I was always trying to beat the clock, and my hair would get under processed. Great video 💜

    Its so tempting to go relaxed. Its easier to have length retention with relaxed hair cause its always stretched. If I had relaxed hair my hair would be at my butt by now instead of midback when fully stretched.

    You did a Beautiful job! It’s absolutely gorgeous! But just a quick tip from a licensed cosmetologist. When applying a virgin relaxer to virgin hair, you want to start off in the mid shaft of the hair to the ends, then at the end apply it to the roots. Your roots are going to process faster and the middle shaft will need more time to process. Thats the reason why it was still curly at the end. But you still did awesome! Love it!💞💞

    You're hair looks great. I think some women are returning back to the relaxer. I am considering it. I was one of those girls who went to the shop every two weeks. But the pandemic changed that and move into a new city, my hair went back to its sticker state because it wasn't being pressed every two weeks. I'm considering going back to the relaxer.

    • @aja2993

      I wondered about the same thing. When I was relaxed, my beautician would only put product on my new growth. She mentioned using the product on the already relaxed hair would lead to over processing and potentially damage down the line.

    I like that the hair has texture. But I think a lye relaxer maybe a little better just be careful with the different textures. (Dermarcation may lead to breakage). Good job apply to the middle shaft first then the ends (since you were going a corrective relaxer) however, I felt like you should of went back applied more to the roots and then smoothed the hair. Just my opinion, it came out great though.

    Girl it looks so good. I relaxed my hair last year after being natural for like 15 years. But the breakage was awful and I immediately regretted it. How do you prevent breakage??
    It’s also weird how now I have texture after a relaxer versus when I was younger my hair was bone straight. But I like having a lil texture after a relaxer.

    • @breezzeeshoulders2610
      @breezzeeshoulders2610 Рік тому +5

      I think by keeping your hair moisturized and staying on your relaxer schedule of every 3 months is how you avoid breakage.

    • @AliviaMae
      @AliviaMae  Рік тому +17

      Thanks girl!!❤️ I can actually do a video on this. But Moisturizing & Sealing is what does it for me! Find a good moisturizer, and a good hair oil. Whenever I notice my hair breaking, I make sure to keep it moisturized & tucked away! Especially the ends. & making sure to keep my hair tucked away REALLY helps too. Like keeping it in cornrows underneath wigs. & I only wash my hair once a month (I know that sounds disgusting lol but it works for me! The less I handle my hair, the more it grows). Then on wash days, I ALWAYS do a hot oil treatment or deep conditioner. If your hair is breaking, it may need a protein treatment.
      Your hair may just be a little resistant like mine!! That texture is STUBBORN girl I get it lol

    Although your hair looks great.. I’m cringing thinking about the long term effects. I was thinking about going back to relaxing but changed my mind after all the current lawsuits about these products causing cancer, after doing my research. I decided I’m not putting this crap in my hair any longer and decided to take better care of my natural hair. Although Ors brand seem harmless there are still chemicals that are carcinogenic and endocrine-disrupting substances. Basically with long term use it can def cause cancer. Girl I bought a new flat iron and heat protectant, now after washing and heavy moisturizing I now flat iron my hair to keep it manageable and keep my straight look.. no hairstyle is worth your life..

      100% with you on this. I will never go back. It was different back in the day when I didn’t know better.
      But now I know. And it’s not even just my hair that I’m cautious about. Anything I do with my body is examined the same way.

      Totally get and understand your response. You will also have to steer clear of all plastics and most of the off the shelf hygiene & beauty products from shampoo, lotions, perfume to deodorant. oh, the micro plastic/endocrine disruptors are even in your clothes too

      🤣 thank you! But girllll it literally would take me an hour JUST to detangle. The thickness is real lol it’s easier to manage, faster to do, & my hair breaks off less with it being relaxed! Relaxed Hair may not be for everyone but it’s definitely for me lol
