@MAC React The Bearded guy that got his head ripped off by the bloater was actually the voice actor that played Joels brother Tommy in the videogame. Keep up the great work you 2.
Yes it was difficult watching so many people cry during this episode!! Very emotional and sad episode to watch! Kathleen is so ruthless and evil that she is more concerned with killing human beings and children! However she is not concerned with killing the Zombie hord that is beneath their feet! I knew it was not going to end well but to see what happens to Sam and Henry really hurt and got to me!! Inspiring, loving, sadness, maddening, and heartbreaking best describes this episode for me! I enjoyed you guys reaction and I subscribed to your channel!
This show completely blew away my expectations. Can't wait to purchase the 4K UHD Blu-ray release. Also, I love your reaction videos. You two are great. God bless.
FUN FACT EP5 There were 10-15 stunt performers dressed in clicker costumes and 40-60 infected. It took a team of 65 prosthetic artists five hours to finish all the makeup.
Madison's reaction was one of the saddest I have seen these days. I cried with you as the scenes play out. Christian's face was definitely hard to read, good poker face. Btw I don't know if others said so already but that clicker actress is a contortionist and gymnastic so both made her really scary.
No one is mentioning how freaking terrified Joel was when that clicker crawled into the car with ellie and he couldn't help her. You can tell the exact moment he realizes it, he starts visibly shaking, his breathing becomes heavy, he makes little noises out of fear, and he seems as if he's about to break down. Pedro is such a phenomenal actor and he is truly doing Joel justice!
I was actually shocked how little emotion or reaction there was in that scene. I was almost confused on if he even saw it or not cause he basically barely reacted and then just stood there. Probably why "no one" is mentioning it.
@@Yawnzee_ I'm not saying there was wasn't emotion. There was definitely a slight "hmm that doesn't look good" kind of expression. But it just didn't seem to fit the urgency of him supposedly watching ellie about to be ripped apart.
Oh Madison, you made me cry all over again! I was already crying when I saw them under the car because I remembered what was coming. Seeing your reaction broke my heart. The way they did it in the show was even more heartbreaking than in the game to me. The way Sam and Ellie connected with one another and seeing Joel give in slightly was painful to watch. The two actors did such a great job. Everyone did.
Bloaters are basically the oldest surviving infected and (thankfully) very rare in-universe, because not only do you have to survive that long, you have to be someone powerfully built as well. They're basically sentient living tanks.
I have never played the game but i have been listening to the podcast, and the creators of this show and game said that usually when someone is infected for so long, they go and find a place and basically grow into the surroundings. Like the one they showed in the first episode. Someone would have to be strong enough to survive that stage to eventually become a "bloater".
This episode is another reminder of how brutal and unforgiving this world is, regardless of who you are. Something as simple as running across a group of infected has catastrophic effects to deal with and even doing the right thing has consequences. It’s no wonder Joel closed his heart off in the first place. The quicker you get attached to someone, the more likely you are to lose them.
I love that your reaction isn't fake, i know because you almost twirl your hair out of your head. I've watched episode 3, 20 or more times and i cry every time i never played the game but it's the best tv series ever. thank you
Man, Madison hit the nail on the head about Kathleen. I was also thinking the whole time that she reminds me of Dolores Umbridge from Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. They were both "psycho" in how they go about doing things and accomplishing their goals.
I got emo all over again when Madison said "we're all going together!"...Madison was so happy...when she broke it broke me. Great reaction. Don't ever change....
Ellie is super determined now. She realizes she couldn't save Sam (her most recent best friend) so now she wants to see if she can find someone who can help her save someone else, hopefully.
Top shelf reactions from a great reaction duo. We appreciate Mad's raw emotions and his man's ability to keep her in suspense by not giving anything away. Very selfless.
Ellie is probably shifting all her focus to getting to the Fireflies so they can try to create a cure, you can tell she has survivor's guilt to the max
I disagree. The show is definitely better but nothing is more impactful than fighting and surviving with the characters in the game. Quite frankly, nothing will be as impactful as actually being a part of the story. The show is definitely better and adds much more quality to the narrative but playing as/with the characters will always be more impactful.
@@tahireed I think at this point it’s more of a personal thing, like who’s to say what impacts who ya know? The show’s definitely blown me away, and I think it even stands on its own as a unique entity separate from the game, but I know the different versions of this story will impact people in different ways. Certainly been a wild ride so far.
i cried for a while, and had that madison reaction x5. i was not ok. RIP Henry and Sam... and RIP Doc, he held strong and didnt give up the boys even with a gun to his head.
Selling him out to FEDRA was basically a death sentence however. Especially in KC since the FEDRA there are mentioned by both Joel and Henry as exceptionally awful.
@@mst3KGf The guy in the reaction said Henry killed the brother for FEDRA. I think what they are simply saying is he didn't physically kill Bill, but Henry himself admits his actions left to the man's death.
I think that resolve we see in Ellie as Joel is burying Henry and Sam is from the hurt she felt that her blood didn’t heal Sam. I think she wants to get to these Firefly doctors so they can figure it out and no more Sams will have to die. She became as invested in her new friend as Henry was, I think she saw him as her little brother too. What a sad episode.
That bloater is extremely game accurate, from tearing the top half of victims jaws and being resilient as hell. And for everyone, seeing the bloater is something new, since it takes decades just for one to come up
Henry didn't kill Kathleen's brother. He was an informant who gave him up to FEDRA. Kathleen told us last episode her brother was beaten to death in FEDRA prison.
I never played the game so this breaks my heart fresh. Bella's reaction to Sam by calling for Joel like a kid calling their dad when they're scared. And then the deep gasp when Henry died. It was so raw. 💔
I didn't think any episode of this series would get me emotional, but then came episode 5. Anyone who has ever had to look out for younger siblings immediately gets it. For me, this is the best episode yet, hands down.
I'm one of those people who never played the game and have come into this show knowing nothing about it. This isn't usually my type of show but it's kept my attention each week just because it's masterfully put together even for those of us who aren't familiar with it. The acting each week is also phenomenal.
Here's something really cool that a friend pointed out to me. at ~6:00-6:02ish of your reaction, when Henry is looking out the window, the reflection on the window shows an orange strip of the roof of the building across the street. They cinematographers lined it up so that that reflection covers Henry's eyes in order to mimic Super Sam's mask to represent how he's the real hero in his brother's eyes. *Edit* wow, what a powerful ending. Madison hasn't been this upset since Arcane EP.3, and Christian knowing what's coming, but maintaining the calm disposition as to not spoil anything - Great work
2 out of 5 episodes have had me bawling my eyes out at the end. Every episode has had moments that genuinely creeped me out and made me jump/scared me. I've never played the game,so I can't speak to how true to the game it is, but I LOVE this show. It's the show I didn't know I needed.
idk if you watch the behind the scenes after the episode, it shows that the actor who played Sam was actually deaf. A lot of the crew took it upon themselves to learn ASL to communicate with him. They did such a great job and throwing in the aspect of Sam being deaf really just added another layer to the complexity of this story. God, this show is so good because you can tell the people making it really care. All the subtlety like Joel and Ellies expressions, Joel shaking and voice trembling when he saw the little clicker climb into the car with Ellie and him realizing he has no control to help her, Ellies cry when Henry shot himself and her immediate reaction to try to help Sam after he showed her he was bit, was sooo good. Idk if she thought it might work, or if she was just trying to give him some comfort/hope, but it was beautiful. I like to think she thought it might work since she really didnt know any better other than she was immune. Anyway, I love your reactions. Thanks
17:03 Yaasssssss, Madison!! I hated that hypocritical heifer and I screamed the exact same thing you did...except that the b word started with a c...and had one less letter. 😂
20:10 the clicker kid jumping over kathleen is the only CGI part, rest was practical effect... and yes that kid did amazing job as clicker in car as well as face scratching scene... also woman, have mercy on your hair please 😂every time you touch your hair i am scared more than seeing a bloater
Henry didn't actually kill Michael, he turned him in to FEDRA, and FEDRA killed him. Also, I read that the child they hired to play the clicker in the car with Ellie is a 9 year old gymnast.
Hey guys, I am sure this has been said (you even may say it later in this video), but if not... Henry didn't kill anyone (he makes a comment earlier to Joel about holding an empty gun is the most violent thing he has ever done) but what he did do was tell Fedra where they could find the rebel leader :) Also, Just found you guys and I have been enjoying your vids. Keep up the good work!
Henry sold out the resistance leader(Kathleen's brother) in the Kansas City QZ to save his brother's(Sam) life. So many people died as a result of Henry's actions and Sam ended up dead anyway by his own hands. I guess Henry realized at that moment before he shot himself that everything Henry did to save Sam was all for nothing.
@@dwnkaomwn3953 If Karen made Henry 7th on her list, he and Sam would have gotten away and the militia would have dealt with the bloater. As it is, her revenge arc killed everyone...
@@stevemcgowen Actions have consequences and Henry's actions to save his brother from death led to him condemning someone else to die, which was Kathleen's brother. Because of that one act, Kathleen became the new leader of the KC resistance who led them to victory against FEDRA and killing anyone associated with them. Yes, Kathleen should've focused more on protecting the Kansas City QZ over her own vendetta against Henry, but again, his actions put her down that path. If Henry didn't get her brother killed, then the KC QZ wouldn't be burning to the ground, Kathleen wouldn't be the resistance leader on the warpath, and Sam still would've died regardless. So again, both Henry and Kathleen brought destruction to the Kansas City QZ.
When you analyze the Sam turning scene, he had asked Ellie to watch him so if he turned she would be ready and get help so he wouldn't hurt her, they probably both fell asleep but he turned away from her and since he couldn't hear, he would wake up turned but without seeing her, he would not attack unless he directly saw her(again Sam not able to hear saved Ellie from being attacked in her sleep), his last act before he turned was to protect Ellie, he was the hero he dressed up as. (just found this comment on another reaction, and this attention to detail is by Jose Quiroz, and it is worth noticing) This attention to detail just twisted the knife. 😭
Just want to give props to you (Christian ?) for not giving any little spoiler away duringt the show (to Madison ?).. even when we were heading towards the climax you gave absolute nothing away. Props to you..
This hurt so much even though I knew it was coming because of the game. The show is so bleak but so beautiful at the same time. It just blows my mind every week
Since this episode I'm starting to have more and more questions. How on earth was the fuel still usable after so long? Even fuel for summer and winter is different. Since civilization has collapsed, as well as economies, where did they get the items to replenish supplies? True, in the first episode the soldier said that in one city they produce bullets and tablets, but that doesn't explain anything. And where's the rest? Like food, etc. Especially since the best-paid job in Boston was cleaning sewage? Why not working in the production of bullets or food? That doesn't make a damn bit of sense. Where does Joel, who's constantly shooting, replenish his supplies of bullets? How many bullets does he have in his pocket? 1000? How many bullets for the pistol on Ellie? After all, she only pulled the pistol out of the drawer? Unless the supplies were in Bill's bunker, which we didn't see. By the way, I forgot to tell you earlier, although someone else probably already told you. Perry is the actor who played Tommy in the game, and Marlene was the same actress who played Marlene in the game. :) (motion capture and voice acting). Despite some shortcomings, I like the scene where Joel is woken up by Ellie. You can see that Joel is lying on his side, with the side he can hear better. It may not be much, but in this matter the creators showed real professionalism. And the scene of the infected Sam. Shorty is sitting facing the window. At this point he doesn't hear Ellie waking up, which is why he didn't attack her in her sleep. He sits facing the window so he doesn't hear anything... That saved her until the morning. And what's saddest in all of this is that the first person Henry killed was his brother. That's probably why he couldn't deal with it when it got to him. That "I'm sorry" is as powerful as Joel's sentence from the first episode "Tommy, help me!!"... It expresses more than a thousand words.
18:30 That scene ticked me off. Clickers can't see and rely on their hearing. There is literally a war going on and it decides climb in the open window (again, can't see) of a quiet car. Consistency matters.
Excellent acting by Bella in the scene where Henry shoots himself. Her whimpers killed me and instinctively gave me a fatherly urge to hug her The swarm scene is incredible good and creepy For sure one of the best action scenes I've ever seen Henry's first murder was his own little brother. It must be pure horror to realize what you just did. The "I'm sorry" at the end got me so hard. I cried 4 of 5 episodes and I love this show
Yeah this episode was great. It had what was probably the best zombie horde scene I've ever seen, and the ending was every bit as heart breaking and traumatic as it was in the game, if not more so.
I'd like to learn more about the young blond actress they got to play the child clicker. Her part was very well choreographed. No apologies are needed for crying. I cried too. I'm sure most did. I needed time to compose my feelings as well. I think this world needs more people like us rather than people that don't have those reactions. Otherwise... we lose. That split-second yelp/scream Ellie did just as Henry shot himself, that is when I lost it. Bella deserves an award just for her performance in this episode alone, There were so many times I literally wanted to give her a hug and comfort her. yet still she has her little 'Ellie' attitude.
Remember Kathleen wondered "if this is the cell my brother was beaten to death in?" last Episode... Henry didn't kill her brother for FEDRA, he turned him in TO FEDRA, FEDRA killed him, but they wouldn't have had him if Henry hadn't turned him in, to get the medicine for Sam. If the sniper had good aim... 1. It would be catastrophic for the script, but 2. He wouldn't have missed his first shot when they weren't behind cover and just walking. He doesn't know the drop of his bullets, and he can't lead a moving target. Not the ideal person to give a rifle and make a lookout. (Which is why he clearly radioed before starting to shoot) A bad shot can slow a group down, but can't take out their target at range without luck. Unfortunately for him, Joel isn't the non-violent, doesn't know how to be tactical type Henry is. Until the last day, Henry was what Kathleen was concerned about. It says something that Ellie and Joel buried Sam and Henry. They don't just see them as "people" they see them as "people who earned something from us"
Hi Christina , Madison I really enjoyed you your reactions when the clickers swarm and the bloater and the clicker child and so sorry about Sam and Henry I made it so far and Madison I knew you would be so sad and crying over that scene of the episode 😢 💔 😪 Hopefully joel and Ellie make it out , Still waiting for you to watch Indiana Jones crystal skull !!
A lot of people have been trashing Melanie Lynskey's portrayal of Kathleen. But to me it was brilliant -- that passive-aggressive tone in everything she said. It made you hate the character even more. If they made her some badass character, a la Sarah Connor or something, we'd become too invested in her and not hate her so much.

Fun fact, Perry, the grey beard man is in the Video game the Tommy actor.
Fun fact: Kathleen's bodyguard is the voice actor for Tommy in the games.
Karen's revenge arc killed KC, not Henry....
@@stevemcgowen The way I see it, both her and Henry killed the Kansas City QZ.
When you analyze the Sam turning scene, he had asked Ellie to watch him so if he turned she would be ready and get help so he wouldn't hurt her, they probably both fell asleep but he turned away from her and since he couldn't hear, he would wake up turned but without seeing her, he would not attack unless he directly saw her(again Sam not able to hear saved Ellie from being attacked in her sleep), his last act before he turned was to protect Ellie, he was
the hero he dressed up as. (just found this comment on another reaction, and this attention to detail is by Jose Quiroz, and it is worth noticing) This attention to detail just twisted the knife. 😭
Yes, and this is why making Sam deaf, I thought, was clever.
Did he mention something like sam looking out the window? Can you point me to the comment please.
I forgot which reaction video this comment came from.
great reaction. Poor Madison.
I love the fact that both Ellie and Joel were crushed by giants in Game of Thrones!😅
this might be the best ever reaction ive ever seen from you guys 👏
Madison, you are too sweet for this world! Awesome episode, but man, was a tough one!
Thanks, Madison! Thanks, Christian! 🖍 #MACReact #TheLastOfUs #TLOU #TheLastOfUsHBO
Just want to give props to you (Christian ?) for not giving any little spoiler away duringt the show (to Madison ?).. even when we were heading towards the climax you gave absolute nothing away. Props to you..
I love Maddison so much😭😭The emotions that she let on into her reactions is F%cking Amazing🥹🥹🥹🥹❤️❤️❤️
Kathlen and the resistance was modeled after the WLF in the second Game. There was a lot of foreshadowing of the problem about revenge.
the actors were amazing this episode. little sam was so cute too, it literally broke my heart. Madison has the best reactions!
Hope you two are having an great and awesome day ❤️
18:30 That scene ticked me off. Clickers can't see and rely on their hearing. There is literally a war going on and it decides climb in the open window (again, can't see) of a quiet car. Consistency matters.
I haven’t played the game at all and this episode made me fucking cry
Excellent acting by Bella in the scene where Henry shoots himself. Her whimpers killed me and instinctively gave me a fatherly urge to hug her
The swarm scene is incredible good and creepy For sure one of the best action scenes I've ever seen
Henry's first murder was his own little brother. It must be pure horror to realize what you just did.
The "I'm sorry" at the end got me so hard. I cried 4 of 5 episodes and I love this show
She better not watch Part 2 man, she's too pure. It will literally break her.
do you mean the second last of us game with a lot of woke fail which is non canon
i dont want see abbey
@@Nico-se8ws Good, so you can just not watch it then, since no one else cares.
@@pedromarques2077 part 2 was the biggest garbage writing in history.
Hopefully Craig Mazin saw part 2 and was like "nah we gonna have to make some changes".
Kathleen’s right hand man plays Tommy in the games
melanie lynsky (kathleen) is an amazinggg actress. if you guys liked her, you should watch yellowjackets! that show is CRAZY.
Yeah this episode was great. It had what was probably the best zombie horde scene I've ever seen, and the ending was every bit as heart breaking and traumatic as it was in the game, if not more so.
BEST REACTION EVERRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!
I respect that you didn't let her know that was coming, but I'd hate to be you when the credits rolled.
aahh yes crying once again :D
"we are all going to go together" aahahahahahahha
Have not played the game yet....waiting for it to be released on Steam at the end of March
🤘😝🤘
Madison, I feel like I’m looking at myself when I watch you react. This show makes me ugly cry.
They don't just see them as "people" they see them as "people who earned something from us"
Hi Christina , Madison I really enjoyed you your reactions when the clickers swarm and the bloater and the clicker child and so sorry about Sam and Henry I made it so far and Madison I knew you would be so sad and crying over that scene of the episode 😢 💔 😪 Hopefully joel and Ellie make it out , Still waiting for you to watch Indiana Jones crystal skull !!
every episode of this show you guys will gonna cry haha
A lot of people have been trashing Melanie Lynskey's portrayal of Kathleen. But to me it was brilliant -- that passive-aggressive tone in everything she said. It made you hate the character even more. If they made her some badass character, a la Sarah Connor or something, we'd become too invested in her and not hate her so much.
Great reaction Maddison, I knew that was you idk if you remember me but we use to work together lol
That hair was gettin worked 🤣
She is so stressed outwith the episode that she cant stop wiggling her hair 😂😂
What an episode, what an reaction♥️
Same, Madison, same! 😭
