Those guns for temp are accurate, just not precise. The laser has nothing to do with it but to help direct it. It is measuring ambient temperature. Those are perfect for what you were doing. The small diagram on the side of the temp gun explains it but a degree doesn't matter. Great vids bud.
Well Justin I just received my 250 hydro and all I can say is wow! The brightness is incredible. I was worried about temp control but after 12 hrs it's constant at 22 degrees Celsius. Thanks to you I now have the last light I will ever need. Any of you guys on the fence about buying this system stop wasting time, this is the light that you want. Worth every penny is not something most buyers can say about leds but this one is

Some of you more eagle eyed PAR meter owners may have noticed my meter was set to "sun" source and not "elec" source. I just replaced the battery and didn't realize it reset my settings, doh! Rather than reshooting the entire video I just tested again at 18" and it's about an 8% lower reading. So I guess I like this light 8% less LOL. Sorry but it's still a good light. Just wanted to be transparent. I also got this light for free to show you but as usual if something stinks I'll tell you how it smells.
I also noticed that it says SP-200 on the light and on the brochure. I don't see any changes or differences in spec. I asked them and they told me that they changed the name but didn't have time to change the sticker and literature before shipping.

250 is upgraded model since it was free they probably used a leftover 200 shell and actual light panel from the 250. I bought a $40 cheapo for my 2x2 well two lights for $80 put both in my 2x2 and I get over a half lb every harvest usually run a northern lights auto and moby dick auto. Just got my 420 seeds man sale seeds excited to throw them in my 4x4. My 2 closets have optic leds in them

From what I can see it takes about 10% of the electricity that I used to have to use using the old HPS lighting. Which is really nice because I live off the grid I have to make my electricity. and the lack of heat I don't need an air conditioner
Great review bud! I just ordered their 2x4 and about to order the SP250. Much better than the 1000 they put out. Love the look of the light. I like the Electric Sky 180 as well but the Mars is 100 less expensive. I'm sure there are quality differences but both only offer a 3 year warranty. Either way, I'm liking the Mars. Hopefully they keep building on their lights. There is actually a dimmer switch on the underside of the driver. Take it off the light and it has 2 black caps covering the potentiometers.

I was going to by a single CMH for my 2x4, but decided to go with this instead... I'm hoping I made the right choice, I guess my buds will let me know soon enough if I made the right choice or not.
If you remove driver you can dim it. There are 2 rubber plugs remove the right one.There is a screw you turn.

I got close. I got 732 grams dry weight under 2 SP250s. Nearly 2 grams a watt with 2 Pakistan Valleys.

@@halflife82 I have exactly the same dilemma. 2X4 tent and those three lights all seem perfect. The sp250 has UV which I read stimulates production of terps and tricomes. Spider has Samsung led's and I could add a bit of UV. Choices, choices.

Far from best still , efficiency of 1.8 ppfd/watt . The top brands ar above 2.0 . And on hlg the dif between the 260 watt kit and this one aint that big in price . But Best they got out and its a big leap from before .
frederik coucke the title says budget light, HLG is not a budget brand by any stretch of the imagination and neither are any of the brands pushing over 2.0 🤷🏻♂️

I agree with you about HLG’s pricing for their 260 kit. $72 more isn’t a lot for a higher-end light, especially considering you can use coupon codes from online growers making the cost go down. At that point, the difference in price is negligible.

Which would you recommend the SP 150 or the TS-1000 and which do you think would generate the most heat?
They would be similar heat because they are similar wattage but since the SP150 takes a bit less wattage it would produce a bit less heat as well.

i found out the other day that the sp250 doesn't produce it's rated wattage of 240w on 120v,only 180w. 240v is required to get the full 240 watts.i wired mine for 240v and the 25% more light of 240watts is very nice. nice video.thanks.
@@MrDmadness all the input voltage(120v or 240v) does is power the driver,which for the sp250 automatically runs on either 120v or 240v. the led it's self runs on 48v of dc current. i've been running my sp250 driver on 240v for months with no issues and by doing so,i'm using fewer amps than a 120v setup.

You can dim then take the driver off and there's a screw you can dim them to about 40w

I own the SP150(s) x4 they are amazing! Cost, Heat, coverage / PAR, warranty is all 'TOP SHELF PERFORMANCE. The SP150 are cooler in temp, you can hold them except the LED SMD surface is hot.

This is the light ive been saying to make. End to end 2x4 light. I like the idea of redundancy by having two. I dont have time to wait for warranty work.

As much as 260w of lighting would. You will need ventilation for any light kit.

epistar diodes would be my only complaint. but atleast mars is trying now days
Yea that's where I'm at with it. That's really my only suggestion to upgrade it. The rest of it seems really nicely done actually. BUT I'm not going to judge it until something actually goes wrong. Tech keeps advancing and these diodes are different than the diodes of lights from past models. You can see a major difference and they look a lot more like the cree xte diodes that I have on my other light.
looks just like the unit farm led light bar only thing not the same is the name on the black shield on top and writing on bottom ... and mars is half the price
Use a longer electrical cord and mount the driver outside the tent. Your temps will be easier to maintain.

They have considered making the cord longer I know for that reason. It's a standard disconnect fitting so it wouldn't be hard to get a longer cord.
I see all those fins becoming a pain in the ass to clean compared to the other mars hydro 2000w with the reflector hood

I recently purchased this light for its veg. ability, although, from all the reviews it works ok for flowering too. I have only tested it since it arrived and haven't used it yet. The dimer is on the backside of the power supply. Good luck.

I have a question about lighting systems. You always seem to give great advice about lighting so of course I thought of you when I became confused about my light question. Ok which light would be most beneficial for a 3x3 tent a NEXTLIGHT CORE or Ts1000 MARSHYDRO? Nextlight is incredibly overpriced. That's a $600 light you're comparing to a $140 one. If you're looking to spend $500ish buy www.rapidled.com/cxb3590-3-x-3-grow-kit/. Based on my PAR readings a single TS-1000 will not properly flower a 3x3 fully wall to wall but you could use it and get some decent results until you can upgrade.
I haven't read all the comments, but it is dimmable. Take the driver off, and the regulator is on the back. Just a FYI for those that don't know

TS 1000 and SP series both are passive cooled, so both make no sound.
What was the temp in the tent after a couple hours?

Isn't there an adjustment screw to dim the light? I'm pretty sure there is, the one I just ordered says it has an adjustment screw that changes the power draw/ brightness

its4rs I asked them about it and they said they changed the name but the flyers inside and the lights still say the old name. I think they made it to go better with the sp150. Sp200 just doesn’t sound like much of a jump from 150 though it’s quite a bit larger. 250 is almost 2 of them which is what this light is.

check out the spider farmer sf4000. its comparable to the hlg v2 for half the cost. same lm301 samsung leds. I have 2 of them in my 9x4.
I’d love to compare the California light works and gravitas to cheaper ones like these and the phlizon cobs,I’m going to make a light using 4 Samsung LM561C 96 diode mounted in heat sinks and mix in a few48 diode red and blue booster strips with a meanwell hlg 240H-C1400B and test it to the phlizon 3000 cod,might buy this light also,love to know how they all compare for real.

The ts 1000 is a a good light 2 weeks from harvest,i have nugs the size of a soda drink can. The sp series are also good lights thay have a better driver than the ts but run a bit hotter due to the lights having a plastic coating over them.i believe from all the tests done on the ts and sp series mygrow done a good one, the ts 1000w is just behind the sp 250...and seeing the results my self its a great light for the money,the sp series has a slightly higher red spectrum and runs a bit hotter.

Same here, had to turn the damn thing back down to 240-250 coz it overheats like a mofo at 290. That's what we get for buying chinese crap lol I am gifting this one to my brother in law and getting something proper. Also the spectrum is weird af on this one, makes the buds too fluffy, definitely need more reds in there. Mars Hydro can suck it, i aint ever buying anything from them.

I would recommend the 250. Either would work and the two ts1000s would be technically more light but I would say possibly too much light. The SP250 is perfectly tuned for a 2x4 IMO.

Michael Scott I don’t. When the lights go out the temps go down to room temperature, around 68-70f. These tents are just in a bedroom so it’s not hard to regulate temperature.
I had a grow over the winter just gone and used a couple of seedling heat mats on a timer to keep night temps from going too low. You could also have the lights on at night and off during the day.

It wouldn't fit into a 3X3 tent Antonio; it measures just short of 4 feet long, but it would be great in a 4X2!
Is this a sp-200 or sp-250, the Mars Hydo site doesn't have a sp-200 on their site, but the card you pull out of the box says sp-200?

The video title says SP 250, but the manual said SP 200. Which is it?

They are the same thing, the company recently changed name of this light from sp200 to sp250. Same actual light tho
