Unfortunately I don't think they would or understand the greatness of of being bless with this kind of music which is a one time only in this life time ...
The Crests, one of the very first integrated groups, as a solo, and with the Brooklyn Bridge. Can’t figure it out why he’s not, should’ve been done during his lifetime
I was only 17 when they were together before I went to Vietnam and NEVER forgot them, the Classics IV and the Spiral Staircase. I’ll never forget any of them after 3 years in the ARMY 2 of which hospitalized for my bad wounds and taking comfort in music like this along with my transistor radio after 28myears as a cop here in NY.
Nicholas, I hope you're doing well. I always feel awkward saying the usual "thank you for you're service". It's not enough for what you went thru. I can only imagine being severely wounded in that place and spending two years hospitalized. I don't know you but you have my sincere respect. We will never let this become another forgotten war.
I saw Johnny and the BB quite a few times. He played free concerts in the Bronx and I went every time. He was very sweet and even talked to my two disabled children and joked with them. Never forget that. Also my maiden name was also Mastrangelo like his real name. I was thrilled with that.
Totally captivating ... Johnny the great ... and his back-up vocals ... and musicians ... could not get better than this .. no way ... loved it! ... RIP, Johnny!
It was my privilege to meet the Great Johnny Maestro and the Brooklyn Bridge at one of their concerts. No airs or attitudes, just down to earth gentlemen. Something terribly wrong with them not being in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. So thankful there is a venue to watch whenever I need a smile or pat on the back.
I met him once at a show in the late 80's. I saw him live at least 10 times. One of my favorites of all times. A beautiful voice and a real showman. Still miss him!
Goosebumps with tears is the effect Johnny Maestro & these heavenly harmonies has on me - especially now. Baby boomers know what I mean. Rest in Peace Johnny.
What talent. People these guys are nearing 70 years old when they are performing hear. Not only is Johnny the greatest singer of all time he was just as good In his last days as ever. No other singer hs ever been able to do that. And the Harmonies are unmatched.
Vocals that wrap around the notes like satin around a beautiful woman’s body. Johnny’s voice never disappointed and the various members of his vocal ensembles were up to the task of singing with a master. Add to that great arrangements and musicians and you get some of the greatest performances in vocal history. Never mind a street in Staten Island, the street in front of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame should be named “Johnny Maestro Boulevard” RIP Johnny and thank you for leaving such great music.
I couldn't agree more. Their moves, the choreograph dances were the coolest. When Johnny passed, my heart really broke. To think there would be no more. We lost a wonderful human being.
A nod also to the late great Tony Romeo, who wrote both sides of the magnificent double A-side single, "Welcome Me Love"/"Blessed Is the Rain". He is best known for "I Think I Love You" by the Partridge Family and "I'm Gonna Make You Mine" by Lou Christie. Johnny's voice is beautiful and perfect for those gorgeous songs. I especially love "Welcome Me Love".
Wow. After all these years, they still do Worst That Could Happen just like they did in the earlier years. Amazing. Not a lot of singers can do that. 🙂
I actually think Miestro sounds better here than when he was young, a maturity about it makes it better, as well as the backup singers!!! Just awesome!
It has to be 20 years since I saw a concert at the Sussex County (NJ) Community College with both Johnny Maestro and the Brooklyn Bridge and the Duprees ... a lifetime memory!
RIP Johnny. Performed with the BB at my prom in 1974 at the Westmount Country Club in W. Paterson NJ. Hasn't lost anything at 65 yrs old in this performance!
Johnny is a HALL OF FAMER ! Johnny,Fred and Les are together again. Love to listen to them. Saw them in person on Long Island years ago. Always play them these days. Never forget them. Buddy S.
I had the privilege to be in 2 different bands that opened for this great vocalist...Here in Connecticut with my band ''The Beret Trio'' and in Myrtle Beach SC,some years later, with my band ''Carnival'' Johnny always a star and crowd pleaser.RIP...
He is one singer I would have loved to experience live, but that can not happen now. His voice is just so amazing. I am very fortunate to have grown up in the sixties and had the pleasure of hearing music when it was music. The world is a better place because of music like this!
Seen him back in the 70's at the Walker Theater in Brooklyn, NY. My friends father knew Don K Reed and got us back stage where I got to meet him. Great guy. Beautiful voice
Nothing to say but awesome! They were great! I know Johnny is singing with the angels. We were so lucky to have had them for the time they sang for I r America! GOD bless them all!
The Lord as blessed us with Johnny and the Brooklyn Bridge what a voice and group that blessed us with their harmony style, and grace just fantastic group so much class Johnny you will be missed.👑🎩🎵🎙📀💿💯🙏🏾❤🌹 I
" The Worst That Could Happen " is Johnny you are not hear to continue to bless and share your music with us I will cherish your songs and music forever Johnny...Thank You 👑👑👑🎩🎩🎩💯💯💯🎶🎙📀💿📻
Man the song the worst that could happen hits home deeply for me. My first love got married and I made some dumb mistakes when I was with her. I meant her on my 16th birthday and it was love at first sight and we were together till I was 25. I wish I was the one who married her all these years later. It’s sucks wish I could go back and make it right because she was amazing wow this is a rough message to put on UA-cam. Alana I’m so sorry I’ll always love you!
Remembering our Saturday night Jr. High dances, when the entire gymnasium of 7th through 9th grade girls would do our line dance to "Welcome Me Love". Such sweet, happy, indelible memories from a time that now seems like a lifetime ago. We lost a true musical "giant" with the passing of Johnny Maestro.
The Greatest of the time ,,you may not know... Johnny was the first white dude to join up with black artists. BEST THAT COULD HAPPED , ,,,FOR THE WORLD
Love the original "Worst That Can Happen" (tears every time) and actually very much enjoyed this live version with the different phrasing. Really interesting how his musical phrasing had changed over time. Very nice. And to one of the greatest singers of all time, RIP Johnny Maestro.
Very few artists of any era were comparable to the vocal talents of Johnny Maestro. Active and performing from the 1950s through early 2010. Among the best voices of any era. I come often to listen to his voice and reminisce of a better time in music.
BY FAR the greatest voice ever!!! So many memories listening to this incredible singer. Hard to believe it has been ten years since his passing. He has been singing with the angels since 2010. Thanks for the memories Johnny🙏🏾
My Condolences to the Family. Love the way he Sings. Well always listen to his Songs. I didn't realize he was gone with the Lord till this Yr. God Bless RVP
There are not enough words in my heart for this most talented gentleman with whom I had the privilege of spending a few quality moments with back in the 70's. R.I.P. Johnny Prayers to your family that I imagine still mourn your loss,
The 2nd song was a hit when i was young, but i didnt get it. Now that im so much older and just found this song again, i realize how great of a singer he is how did they not have more hits with his voice.
I saw them at the Sugar Shack in Columbus Ohio in the late 1960's. It was an off-campus bar and The Brooklyn Bridge visited at least yearly. Very intimate setting and they were great!!
The Brooklyn Bridge played at the Cheetah Lounge in NYC and I got to know them. I think my friends and I were their first groupies. What a talented group. A big hello from Diane.
Johnny Maestro and the Brooklyn Bridge what an awesome group and song I grew up with his songs in Queens, NY Drag racing in the connecting highway and cross bay boulevard
They just took live performances to another level. How many bands can you think of today who sound just as good as they do on a studio recording? These guys are a joy to watch and listen to and they dressed so classy. Thank you for the music gentlemen.
My favorite group, and lead singer. Johnny was the one and only. There will never be another one like him. My friend John Kuse from The Excellents comes close. Miss those days.
Met them while they were performing at a friend's pub. The pureness of the sound was equaled by their friendliness and down to earth quality of their personalities Great music, great, regular guys!
When I was 18 years old in 1969 and these songs were out, I didn’t really appreciate the lyrics like I do now. Especially Blessed is the Rain. What great lyrics and harmony!!
Imagine if this man walked on "The Voice" today. Would the young kids get it? Would they know greatness when they heard it? Lord, I hope so.
Seriously, I don’t think they would….But we are so lucky that we could appreciate it….
Such an interesting point you bring up: If young people heard Johnn Maestro sing these songs...would they know that it was great?!
I doubt it, there will never be another group like them, they truly were iconic, and fantastic.
Unfortunately I don't think they would or understand the greatness of of being bless with this kind of music which is a one time only in this life time ...
They absolutely would. They don't need flashy outfits or pre-recorded music to sound fantastic. These guys were amazing. And the vocals. wow
What a shame he is not in the hall (yet). Keep hope alive !!
The voices of Johnny and The Bridge will live on eternally! We'll never forget you.
Johnny needs to be in R&R Hall of Fame
Johnny passed away right here in Cape Coral, Fl. The Angels Listened In I'm sure. RIP to one of the very best.
J.m. needs to be in Rock n Roll. Hall of Fame.

Thank you for your service in the Military and the NYPD.
@@waynegrieco9752 Thank you too Wayne, it seems now every day someone is thanking me like this!!!
Thank you for your service! Vietnam was hard I know. But the Brookland Bridge was one of the best
Today's generation will never know this kind of musical talent.

There's no one like Johnny. He sure could sing! RIP
Johnny Maestro was one of the best to put on a show. Jimmy Webb had so many hits especially with Glenn Campbell. Johnny love your music, RIP.
The layered and cascading harmonies of this Blessed Is The Rain performance seems quite technically complex and amazing.
What a fabulous voice Johnny had, really miss this kind of sane music!

I think I was born too late. These songs are timeless omg

Me too. We were lucky enough!
Right up to the very end his voice was strong and he sounded the same. He’s gone but his music will live on with us.

Great band. Should have been much bigger than they ended up being. "Welcome Me Love" is my favorite of their songs.
Mine too.
