I had the pleasure of seeing him in concert 3x in the late 1990s and actually met him and got his autograph....he was so kind and had fans from multiple generations, cultures, ethnicities ...amazing that a voice, song or person can bring so many different kinds of ppl together!

I am only 25 years old but luckily had the privilege to see Mr. Johnny Maestro perform over 10 times in my life. When I was 9 years old at the Saint Ann's Festival in NJ his crew noticed me singing all of his songs and called me on stage for the little sing along part that he would do for the fans. Met him after the show and he truley was a good person and cared about the fans who supported him. RIP Johnny and God Bless.

Being a Long Island girl I was blessed to have seen him live many times... each time an effortless beauty in that man's voice. The morning they announced he was gone... I dropped my husband at work ... drove around the corner from his job and cried my eyes out while The Maestro sang "I believe" There was no local charity that ever heard the word no from Johnny. His efforts like his voice were tireless. I now regret I didn't go to the East Islip church for his funeral mass. God Bless You Johnny!

I don’t comment about pop tunes very often, but this performance by Johnny Maestro and The Brooklyn Bridge of the classic Jimmy Webb song is almost perfect. If you don’t dig the visuals just forget the cornball club vibe and just listen to the band & vocals. Also, check out the trumpet players singing backgrounds, playing keyboards then pulling off the horn parts on the fly. Those are the kind of musicians I want to be in a band with. RIP - John Peter Mastrangelo aka Johnny Maestro; May 7, 1939 - March 24, 2010.

The day before the Jets and Joe Namath upset the Baltimore Colts in January of 1969, my high school basketball team won our conference tournament. I was on a high the next day and remember vividly listening to this song. If you lived in the 60’s you know that this group and this song was not typical of most of the music. You got a group with a great vocalist as the lead singer and awesome background harmonies like we heard in the Do Woo era but a big band with horns. They had like 11 members. This was the number 1 song in the country and I remember exactly where I was and what I was doing while that song was playing that afternoon. Johnny Maestro is the best of all time.

Johnny Maestro should have been as big as Elvis vocally. A world wide legend, his vocal dexterity is hard to match, equally his tone and timber. I'm certainly not arguing the massive talent of the iconic Elvis. Just asked a few random strangers, young and old. Every one of these strangers new straight off, who was Elvis. Only 1 out of the 7 had heard of Johnny Maestro, but couldn't name one song. This singer is truly once in a generation. Yeah I could listen and love any song he sings. RIP Jonny

Wow. I always loved his voice, but to hear a live performance that sounds this great is a rare treat. Thank you for your gift, Johnny.

You should be proud JOHNNY. You sing it even better live today , than you did in the studio in 1969. I used to fall asleep after a hard days work , listening to this song over and over. A great song with a great band and singers.
