- Ever dream of getting into those 'dealer only' car auctions, avoiding those DMV registration fees, and driving a variety of cars??? I did and I got a wholesale car dealers license for exactly those reasons.

Super interesting info. What happens if you don't sell 5 cars??
Keep the videos coming!!
So much red tape and fees to become a dealer in the USA! I was not aware! Here in England you just need trade insurance policy and you get access to all the dealer portals! You can trade from home
Leave cars on the street ect.
Thank you for sharing this.
obviously I'm not a Delaware attorney, but I wouldn't think that having a dealer license would prohibit you from selling the vehicles you own personally. I would think it would only apply to those that the dealer buys. Also wouldn't think the corporation would cost you $300 annually. If it does, you can file a corporation in Texas for a one time fee and it is perpetual after that. Currently $300 plus $25 for expedited processing (recommended)
Hey Chris! Congratulations on the dealers license! Let me know if you find a dealer willing to work with you for a fair price, maybe there’s someone out there who would be willing to push your paperwork for a few hundred on top if you had the vehicle and the buyer. Anyway, if you do get that figured out I’d love to buy some cheap auction cars! Anyway, good luck and looking forward to watching the whole process!
Thank you for the info. Nobody else seems to want to talk about this process
This info varies from state to state.
I looked into it in Minnesota about 20 years ago and I found Red Tape, Crazy Rules, Restrictions, and Money at every turn. I said fuck it!!!
All those business expenses are deductible, so it works out.
Same with CA. Too much red tape unless you go all in.
@@Anon1mous I didn't find that back in the '90's. Maybe it is different now.
Enjoyed the upload. Let the Journey begin! I look forward to watching how all this works for you.
Find a public auction nearby your home to sell your dealer auction cars.Should be some money in it to show a profit
🔥🔥🔥 VIDEOS CHRIS!!! keep them coming. Loving the content.
Thanks! Will do!
Ok, so let's go buy some cars! haha. Congrats!! Looking forward to seeing where the opportunities take you. Maybe turn the desk around so you have a better view? Haha.
Thanks so much my friend and thanks for hanging around all this time too. I'm glad you along for the journey.
I always enjoy your content. And glad that you make them and share with this UA-cam community.
I appreciate that!
Great video as always. Very informative. Looking forward to your next auction. 👍
Chris, congrats on the wholesale dealer's license. Look forward to the wider selection.
Congratulations Chris, this was very informative video
chris! congrats on the license! I cant wait to see where this takes you! love your videos!
Thanks so much Dorian! I appreciate that and I appreciate you stopping by too!
Interesting. Good Luck on the new venture.
Congratulations Chris Yes it's rough having a dealer's license but I suggest you start shopping on the insurance around yeah I'm pretty sure that you can get a better deal somewhere else I usually Shop my insurances for my business that I own not only that I also work for a municipality I also work sweeping lots and I have a bunch of trucks so so I know the INS and outs congratulations again
I'm jealous that you can drive for pleasure on your dealer tag. Here in Michigan that's a restriction but folks do it anyway.
Great info. Taking something you enjoy, learn a little and maybe turning a profit, best way to have fun is if it don't cost anything. Low cost hobby.
Congratulations Best of luck that's awesome.
Congrats Chris!
good move taken a chance and doing all that…..youll work it all out and it will no doubt be worth it
good luck goin foward..
Thanks so much my friend. I appreciate you and the comment and for following along too! Thanks as always.
i love your videos so much variety and knowledgeable
So nice of you and glad you like them.
Congratulations. It will be fun to watch your journey.
Thank you so much!
I love all those things too
Best home office ever!! Wonder what bureaucrat thought of that nonsense.
Great video with clear and detailed information
Glad you liked it
I'm looking forward to your journey into unknown waters!
Congratulations Chris. It kind of sucks that you have to go through another dealer to sell. Could you have used the shop you're renting and applied for a retail license? I wish you success on this new endeavor. I am looking forward to your videos at the dealer auctions. Best of luck. ~Pat
Just re-watched this video and was wondering how is the wholesaler license working out? Throw us an update video. Does the wholesaler license now prevent you from buying as a private person at the state auction sales? You can no longer deal and sell to the general public? Great videos. Stay safe.
My hobby is fishing. And I have to have a license for that too.
Awesome stuff
Thanks man and thanks for watching too.
Thanks for the info sounds like alot Lol I am in MD its crazy trying to be a dealer my friend is a car flipper he said it was to much crap! He just doesn't put the titles in his name he flips stuff like crazy probably 6-7 vehicles a month
This sounds like a good deal for you!
Hey Chris, would you be willing to do some Mustang content in the future? I like the Panthers, but I want a 2 door. I'm thinking the Mustangs with the 4.6. Think about it. Still love the Lincoln, BTW.
I like the cat crate in the background
Haha! Hey there kid. That's Poppy taking over the driveway! We'll introduce you when you come home in a couple weeks!
Oh NO! Sale to the Public and I was hoping to buy a good used pickup truck from you oh man.
I am not sure how legal it is but I used to rent tags. In NC I was able to get transporter tags to move cars. Those I rented. Also I did what you mentioned and partnered with a dealer and used to do paperwork through them. This is back in the 90s so I do not remember everything anymore. Looking to get back into it again since I miss the car business. My wholesale cars ended up at Buy Here Pay Here Lots.
Hey man, thanks for checking out some of my videos and for your comments too. I appreciate you stopping by and joining in on the conversation too.
Nice!
Congrats on the license man! A good place to go and get good deals on cars is the Bel Air Auto Auction in Aberdeen, MD. A lot of Delaware dealers send their cars there. It's actually the auction the dealer I work for sends their cars. If you ever go there, I'd love to see a video. :)
Hey man, thanks for the tip about the Bel Air auction. I've seen some vid's on it and how nice, clean and organized it is. I'll def check it out and hopefully get a video posted on it too. Thanks again!
@@hullinger Definitely! Definitely look in Lane 6 because that's the lane our dealership runs in. :)
Form a LLC and start a regular dealership, sell cars from your shop. Best of both worlds. Buy cars with your wholsalers license (LLC 1) sell to your "dealership" (LLC 2) , sell to public from your shop...PROFIT!!!
The process is the same here in South Carolina. Although I do not think they require finger printing. I do not get why wholesale cannot sell direct to customers, same thing here
0:43 CAT!!!!
Good for you sir. Yeah, all states are different on requirements.
Thanks man. When I was making this video I was thinking about you and wondering if you're still moving cars.
@@hullinger Nope, no cars. Even a wholesale license requires much more hassle than I want to do in my state.
Limited to 4 per year so I just stick to my own stuff. Flipped a couple houses in the past 1.5 years, but that is not as fun and a lot more work.
Love your videos! Keep posting the great videos!(-;
Thanks my friend! And will do!
Hi, and what about selling a car to someone overseas (export to Europe), Is that possible for you?
In some states like mine you can only sell 5 cars in a year then you need a dealer licence
Impressive! I'm proud of you and I don't know ya, But - I want to be your neighbor!
If you have a Purchasing Officer they should be able to sell to the Public. It's a potential loophole.
They protect Corporations in the Laws, go to your State elected officials and change the law.

PS
I was an Exec VP (In Sales for a major Laboratory Corp too bad you aren't close, I could send you so much business)
How do man. It's Ted from Texas. When I was back in New York are used to do the same thing as you did, mean what you do. It was a lot of fun but a lot of work. Enjoy the video and I will see you in the next one
Hey there Ted and thanks man for checking out the dealer license video. It was cool seeing your name pop up on that dealer only Facebook page too.
@@hullinger . I enjoy seeing the auction cars coming up that you have. Remind me the days that I used to go. Stay safe see you in your next video
Hello from Morocco ❤ beautiful garage and nice car 👍
Hey, thanks!
@@hullinger you're very welcome sir ❤ have a nice day 👍
Do you still have the town car? I see it in the video but wasn’t sure if the video might have been delayed. If so are you thinking of selling it anytime soon?
I don't understand how they can say a felon can't have a dealers license, that pretty screwed up
Don’t be a felon?
whats up with the westfalia bus? :)
Excellent video as always!! But I am left with a few questions that I may have missed.. as a wholesale dealer, is your ONLY potential buyer a retail dealership? I'm sure most retail dealers are looking into the same auctions you are, how do you find prospect buyers? Where do you advertise?
With the exception of selling THROUGH a retail dealership, which I can imagine would be quite a headache unless your close to an owner of one
No. He can also sell to another wholesaler or through an auction. So when he buys a car he has three 'exits' available to him.
What do you for a living otherwise?
Looking to get a dealers license in Utah. Could you help me get started?
Please tell me that "novice driver" bumper sticker is not adhered to the corvair van. :)
I was expecting a white patent leather shoe requirement. lol

Hahaha, yeah, and the plaid tie too.
I can't think of an easier place to incorporate than Delaware TBH :) Pretty much every corp out there is a Delaware corporation.
That's has been in my mind but I just need that $ 🙄
13 percent tax on cars where I live.
Sounds like you need to find a dealer that’s willing to process papers for you for a bucks. Covers their expenses and a small profit. Like all things, the more cars you sell, the more you’re spreading the cost to operate your wholesale dealership.
So much for free enterprise.
What would it cost to have fleet insurance and Turo the cares?
I really like the idea of doing Turo with the cars I have. Might be a great way to pay for themselves. I'll check it out and thanks for the tip!
What happens if you don't sell 5 cats a year once you get the license? Cause if i went this route, it would be only to get all the cars I've ever wanted... To have... FOREVER!
I charge $250 per vehicle .
I thought you got that warehouse location so you could run a retail license out of it ?? Have you given that up ?
I found out that warehouse I'm renting isn't zoned for retail car sales. So, at this point it's simply storage. I'm looking though for a place to rent though with the right zoning. I don't necessarily want to be a used car salesman, but I also don't want to pay other dealers to sell my cars too.
Let me know when the town car gets kicked out of the garage 😍
That Lincoln will be coming up very soon for sale. Probably in the next month or so as I need to get my 5 sales in for the month. I'm not yet sure how I want to sell it as there are a few folks that are interested.
@@hullinger If you used a site like Cars & Bids, would that still count as you “selling” a car?
Why not have your wife do sales? Can't each person in a house act as a private person selling cars (up to the 5/year?)
I don't need license in Ukraine if I'am "grey" dealer. I just sell new or used cars. If I want to evoid fees-I have some ways to evoid them. Lets come to Ukraine!🇺🇦😉
Why couldn’t you sell the cars out-of-state, where your State doesn’t care?
If he buys them under his dealer name he has show the disposition of that car.
Thats good shit bro but its look holes dont sell it under the dealer sell it straight under your name bro you can sell to anyone you want instead of selling to those RIP off ass dealers but you pay all of that money just for them to say soke dumbshit like that
Sounds like a lot of trouble and run around.
So much red tape....government does all they can to make it tough to do business ! Forget about insurance costs... take your chance without it !
isn't democracy great. too many regs. fees, permits, licenses, etc.
