    Wow that was really good. Good catch on the clutch gear. After watching your regear videos it blows me away at how easy you made taking that locker apart. That speaks to how well ARB engineered it. Thanks for your content.

    Thank you for your videos, I purchased a set of axles loaded with ARB lockers. I will be swapping the lockers with the gears into my high Pinon Dana 30 (because the axle I bought was an early Dana 30 with the acuator). And had to source a new housing and axle shafts for the Dana 44 as the guy I bought them from bent the h☆ll out of the axle. The lockers in both axles seem to operate flawlessly as far as I can tell. They lock when I shoot compressed air into them and release when I remove the air. I have a friend that has done gears several times and will be helping me with the gearing.
    Watching you take the locker apart and troubleshooting the issues you were having. Makes me realize that these lockers are rebuilable anyway if there is any issues.
    Subscribing for obvious reason. And mostly because you are so thorough in you explanations. Thank you! PS. Notice you're in Colorado so don't be surprised if I Thank you in person out on the trail someday.

    Big fan of your videos, I've used them to learn how to do gears and am starting my first air locker install. This was the best video I could find that shows how the ARB air locker works. I have a question. The worn clutch plate had several traditional springs, did the new one have a new wave spring design?

    • @TheBFHGarage
      @TheBFHGarage  2 роки тому +1

      Yes they have changed the design as the product evolves. The wave spring is the standard replacement now.

    Outstanding tutorial, I almost want to do one myself. But perhaps I will leave it for the professionals. LOL I use to own a Jeep, would buy another one but they cost twice as much as a Ranger Raptor here in the Philippines. The Gladiator way out of touch. What is your opinion about the Ford Ranger, 2.0 litre Diesel, should I get it with the 10 spd or the 6 spd. With the 10 spd I get tech, comfort, bells and whistles Some bells and whistles are okay, but I am more concerned about the tranny and engine.

    • @TheBFHGarage
      @TheBFHGarage  9 місяців тому

      I'm not familiar with a lot of Ford stuff, especially that diesel. I love my gladiator, it has the 8 speed tranny and all the creature comforts!

    So was the clutch gear your issue? Mine locks up when turning right but sounds like a lock rite when turning left. Will be pulling the carrier next week to investigate.

      It was indeed the clutch gear

      @@TheBFHGarage thanks. That doesn't look like much wear, but I guess it doesn't take much. My pressure switch was failing and allowed low air pressure. I replaced the switch but am still having issues. I'm guessing it chewed up the clutch gear when it had insufficient air pressure.

    Recently had some problems unlocking my arb locker. I had stopped the vehicle from off-road, and disengaged the locker. Heard the pshhh sound and all. When I went to turn left onto a paved road the rear locker felt like it bound up and then popped to release the locker. Curious if I damaged my clutch plate, and why that occurred all together. The locker is new…
    Also curious did the new clutch gear fix the problem?

    • @TheBFHGarage
      @TheBFHGarage  2 роки тому +2

      In my case, yes, the clutch gear was the culprit. In your case of it not unlocking, it can be a couple of things or combination of things. Being a new locker, part of it may be that it needs to break in a little bit. ARB's tolerances are very tight. What I most likely think it is, is that when you shut the locker off, it may still be under load. If there is any pressure on the shaft and splined side gear it won't unlock easily. Once any loads are released it should unlock. Next time you're out, unlock it while on relatively level ground. You can try to back up just a bit too to reverse the load. It should get easier as it breaks in. Good luck with it, they are great lockers!

      @@TheBFHGarage thank you so much. I’ve been worried af about it all since they are new and I’m new to using them. Lots to learn. I was like oh, great, here I go breaking stuff already.
      Your video was the best one I came across though as far as explaining what exactly comes into play and where the forces may go. And I’m not so daunted to assess the damages and possibly make a repair if necessary either. I really appreciate the advice brother. 🍻

      @@TheBFHGarage just curious, you think I damaged anything?

    • @TheBFHGarage
      @TheBFHGarage  2 роки тому +1

      If it is brand new, then I doubt it. They need to break in like other gears. When unlocking, try to drive in a straight line or they can stay locked until you do.

    Using better steel!

    • @TheBFHGarage
      @TheBFHGarage  Рік тому +1

      ARB's are very well designed and use very good steel. This part is designed to fail before other parts for a reason. I wouldn't change a thing.

  • @pppidsn647
    @pppidsn647 2 місяці тому

    The beveled edge is not very deep and I don't think it's what's causing the locker to not work, the main problem is maybe you don't have enough pressure. But now that it’s worn out, replacing it is a good option.
