- We are back with another reaction vlog, This time we are reviewing vlog titled 'Life in Manila Slums! Don't Come here! TOO DANGEROUS?'
The title of this vlog pulled us in and also because we have some experience in going to these types of places that some people consider slums like the valley of colors in bagguio and the north cemetary in manila.
Instantly we began to get annoyed by some comments from the youtuber in this video because he came across quite rude. As he filmed and walked around the area he was invited into many peoples houses to have a look inside in true filipino nature by very hospitable locals who live in the so called slum.
We noticed that not once did the youtuber mention that he felt unsafe or unwelcome yet in the title to this vlog he puts TO DANGEROUS?
In our view most of the people that live in this so called slum actually choose to live there for many different reasons abd for them life in a so called slum is just normal with all there friends and family there why would they ever consider leaving?
We gave our opinions on many things that was said on this vlog from our experiences of being in the philippines for so many years and we hope that you guys feel we was right in what we said and look forward to your comments

Thank you for your REACTION vlog. You got it right. Intruding into someone's neighborhood and home while judging them is just rude. On the two security guards, what Real Black Box missed out on is the chance to probe further. These two men might just be renting their rooms from someone else to save their incomes. They might have family in the provinces where they have a real home, with wife and children. Have you ever been to Baguio City? Let me know. I can host you.

for sure! you cant judge something you dont understand and for the most part, people are happy. of course, naturally, people would like more money, who doesnt.. but it is unfair to judge a community of people by the standards in which they live, as most people will choose this life as theyre happy doing so.foreigners need to undertsnad that 'their own standards, arent nessasarily the best'
I was born and raised in a very poor country in Eastern Europe and we didn't have this mentality of throwing garbage everywhere. They have a habit of polluting their immediate environment right outside of their own homes. Just because you are poor doesn't mean you have an excuse to automatically throw garbage everywhere and don't clean up after yourselves. Something is wrong with the culture and the mentality there.
Having a house in Manila is really expensive, some people with less just lived with a community that they can afford.., Nice video guys 😉, btw some foreign travel youtubers here in philippines has two channels, the main one for travel vlog and the other is for reaction video, like for you it might be "Coshan Reacts" ph or something like that 😁
If you think that's bad, you should see some parts of San Francisco and Los Angeles and this supposed to be "1st World Country."
actually is not offensive for us, we really learned and Manila local govt. impressively eradicating slum problem, no more slum in rivers area, soon this area will be Manila Sea Port truck cargo terminal as plan early this year. as of the latest roads already done, after pandemic it will be demolish and people will be relocated,

There are travel blogger are more into covering the slums of other countries when westener part of Europe and Americans they are hiding ....... what countries who don't have poverty I won't ever ever support this kind of bloggers. Look at india for example they been known for being poor country when in fact there are lot of Beauty to discover on India That is because sometimes vlogger use to cater more of the downside of the country Especially on southeast Asia ......anyway the govt now is building a tondominuin for the poor families in tondo and more building are being establish by mayor of Manila for illegal settler

People from province .primarily visayan area goes to metro manila for work during 70s early 80s found love. layed of from work. Found wives and husband . Bore lots of offsprings .build shacks tolerated by politicians for electoral votes.
If i have to guess, that guy is in Payatas near Smokey Mountain. It is the recycling hub of manila city. Every town and city in the philippines has a recycling hub. It is big business here.

What have the Government done to help these people. The problem with Filipino people is that no birth control, prostitution, alcoholism and corrupted Government. If you think the slums is a wonderful place assist the NGO to help the poor don't just talk rubbish.
i'd rather be around with this type of people than phony fake anti depression meds taker.

That looks like the "Smokey Mountain" area of Manila. That is where the trash of Manila has been dumped for many years. The really poor of Manila live and go through the trash to find anything they can recycle. Many have died there. There have been many Documentaries made about that area.
yes, we ave heard of it for sure. the thing is, many people settle there and choose to stay through choice and not just circumstance and its hard to hear someone visit and show ignorance as he never got word from any one there that they have to be there. Security guards earn lessthan $400/month. That's the reason they stay in that place because they can't afford a better place. But believe me, they all want to move to a better place.
this slum area may be gone soon...the mayor is building a decent housing project for the people...

That video was "poverty porn", and I absolutely despise it. They treat those communities like a zoo. The cultural differences really show when foreigners go to these places and automatically assume it's extremely dangerous because back in the west, slums would _be_ dangerous. In the Philippines (as well as other parts of SE Asia as well as India, Bangladesh, Pakistan, etc.), slums are a completely different thing. They are not "rundown" districts riddled with crime. They are more accurately *villages,* plopped from the provinces and then transplanted right in the middle of the city. They're the result of poor urban planning and rapid urbanization. When province people go to cities, they bring the village with them. And that's what they actually feel like. Barrios. People live and look after each other in the same way they would in the province. The only reason they look like that is because they do not own the land, and the city as a result, does not take care of their basic needs from trash collection to electricity to water.
Listen, it's not dangerous anywhere in Ph, however you have to have your wits about you so that you don't get a false sense of security , meaning don't let your guard down, especially in Mindanao
absolutley!! i agree, there is danger everywhere, this is iportant to remeber , but just because of trash and flies, doesnt make it unsafe. :)
@@CoshanUncharted the trash and flies were not a big deal for me when I visited Tondo, I'm from a third world country and am not phased in seeing trash and flies, just saying that weather you're visiting Tondo or Makati be aware

I disagree with your criticism of this video, which I've watched a while ago. First of all, I guarantee people who live there are indeed struggling and exist on very little. 2nd, if its such a wonderful place why didn't you purchase a home in or near a slum? You are quick to judge and criticize this guy for making a video while walking through the slums but when you purchased a home you got as far away from this "wonderful place" as possible.
1.We never said it was wonderful.
2.we said we have interacted with the people from there who for the most part said they wouldn't leave and pay what they would have to in another setting and were quite happy there..
3. The struggle is dependant on the mindset about the struggle. You can live in a mansion and struggle.
4. If you understand the laws, we wouldn't be allowed to buy there anyway even if we wanted to.
Please don't make rediculous claims to prove a point. It's okay to disagree, with what we have said we don't mind that. I don't doubt that some people would love to leave, we were talking about our experience of talking to the people living here.
For you to say we're basically lying or we would buy there ourself is outrageous. . We were lucky to be able to even buy the property we did buy in the end, which isn't in the most glam part of the city either just incase you were wondering. We're not that type of people.

To gain more views it is nice to upload videos that would send Happiness not Chaos. The poverty is already given around the world not only in the Philippines or in Southeast Asia but aswell in UK or US and we all know that. It is not a good issue to tackle amidst COVID-19 pandemic that is happening now around the world and it is so sad 😔,

thats okay that you unsubscribe. we arent here to make any one feel like they have to stick around. luckily we dont care too much about the numbers so views and subscriber count is not a priority to us, so we dont mind if no one watches or subs to us as we do it cos we enjoy it.. we want to make sure people know we are being honest. We feel these videos are poitive as we are correcting a negitive view on the philippines to people who may not know what to expect. we are saying that actually, the country may have issues, as does every country.. but theyre rich at heart and it is not fair to go and video them saying poor people. it is rude. if you feel that us saying nice things and correcting a negitive view is not positive then thats okay its your opinion. but we are not the type of people to be fake and we will not be reacting to videos such as jollybee commercials etc as we feel it is forced and fake.
