    Thank you so much for the well needed message. This happened to me. Serpentine belt came off, power steering wheel locked up on me while driving to work.
    My car is now still with the mechanic 3 days later and he says he is still having difficulty locating where the oil leak is coming from.
    I’m now home no work today and just finished crying as I’ve been helping others and now I don’t have much funds.
    I’m trying to stay positive.
    Thank you again as I know this too shall pass 🙏🏽

      I’m sorry to hear that happened to you! She rain can’t last forever! The sun will shine soon after!
      Have the mechanic look at the crank seal! The OEM seal was $16 from the dealership!
      I wish you a speedy fix and always remember that those who helps others are never in need!

      I hate to hear that! I do have a video on replacing the serpentine belt and the stretch fit belt if you havnt seen it! It’s not too bad of a job if you are kinda handy.
      Don’t let it get you down! Things happen but they are short lived!

      The diagnosis is half the fun, at times. I’ve never expected the serpentine belt to take out the crank seal though.

      Sometimes we just need some compassion and to give ourselves some grace. It seems like sometimes, when things are going bad, everything decides it wants to pile on all at once. We just have to step back and breathe, and don’t let it get the best of us. It seems like a dead end at that time, but there is light at the end of the tunnel, but we just have to keep walking to get there. You got this! 💪🏽

      From all he messaging and replies I've been getting, it seems like Gate belts have this issue, so I'll be ordering Mazda oem tensioner and Belts this week and keep the gates stuff as s backup. They are around the same price so reason not to go OEM replacement. Hard lesson learned.

    Man, how am I just now finding your channel? I've got a 2014 Touring pushing 197,000 miles. As I'm going through your DIY videos on the 6 I'm realizing I've had to deal with or have done probably about half of your videos! I am going to do my belts and tensioner myself once I hit 200k miles. The OE tensioner let go and spilled oil everywhere and I had the dealer replace for me at 100k. Thinking I'll handle it myself this next go around.
    Thanks for putting these videos together helping show where things are. Also, I could feel the anxiety through the video screen as you discovered the oil leak at the crank. Did you just tap the thing back in and that's all it took?

      @DariusBuildz  7 місяців тому +1

      The main reason I started recording was bc it was nothing out there for reference so I am glad that it is helping!
      And for the crank seal, yes, my feelings were a little hurt when I seen it. The issue with this side cover is that the seal should be flush with the side cover and I did not know that. I pushed it back too far and it hit the timing chain. So, before I knew that, I did it wrong twice and ended up going to the dealer and paid them almost $900 before I realized what I was doing wrong. A expensive lesson to learn.

    Hi Darius, Could it be a bad tensioner that cause the serpentine belt to break ? Did you noticed any leakage around the tensioner . I had to change my tensioner at 75000 miles and it is leaking again. I hear this is a issue on the Gen 3 Mazdas. Good luck with your car.

    • @DariusBuildz

      This is a Gates belts and tensioner. I replaced them less than 2 years ago and about 40,000 miles ago. My oem belt lasted until 167, 000 miles and i only replaced it bc the serperentine belt was dryrotted and cracked badly. I guess the Gates belt is just inferior.

    • @DariusBuildz

      It’s a decently simple fix on most cars if you can get your hands on there.

      @@DariusBuildz normally it would be easy, but it seems to be kind a hard on a benz because I need a special tool just to get the pulley off but I have some parts coming in soon so I can change it.

      Ok. If you replace the crank seal yourself, it needs to be be flush with the front of the timing case. Do not push it back as far as I did.

  • @joshcobi
    @joshcobi Рік тому +1

    You got seriously lucky that the front main seal wasn’t all buggered up. How old was the belt?

    • @DariusBuildz
      @DariusBuildz  Рік тому

      Belt was 2 yrs old and about 40k miles. Gates belt. I don’t have the slightest idea why it shredded on me. I’ll keep an eye on the new one. The crank seal is still leaking a little, so I’m replacing it tomorrow morning. Got a new OEM Mazda one.

      @@DariusBuildzhey brother, so I got the same issue the serpentine belt ripped on me and got bits in the crank pulley. Do you think it’s a good idea to just change the seal regardless of the current state? Like what if u yank that back, would it leak eventually?

  • @HLChow
    @HLChow Рік тому +1

    probably broke due to poor quality in manufacturing - I have had timing belts from Gates break or lose a teeth at just 25K miles. I have had some better luck with Continental belts.

    • @DariusBuildz
      @DariusBuildz  Рік тому

      Gates belt being inferior seems to be the understanding across the board. I'll be ordering OEM tensioner and belts this week.
