Fixing MOST of My New Honda 400EX Issues
Thank you
You're welcome!
Thanks for the help man!
Im glad it could help and hopefully saved you a time and/or some money!
Dude! You rock! This fixed my problem. My mechanic didn't what the problem was and I almost had to buy an entirely new center arm console assembly. Thank you .
I almost did the same thing! I have to fix it probably every 2 years. It only take about 30 seconds now 😆
DON'T DO THIS - the crank seal is supposed to sit 0.5mm below surface.... not push all the way through - these Mazda timing plated don't have a stop...
In figured that out after the fact and talked about it in the next video about the crank seal when I had to replace it again.
@@DariusBuildz Not fun pulling that seal out from that far back - did you have to pull timing cover?
Nope. Pulled right out and replaced it again. It had hit the timing chain and knackered it up and was leaking oil again.
How much is it??
I had it for sale for $900. Sold it with no engine, no seat for $550. The 340 is going on my Baja.
Thanks for the video, i currently have the same issue and i also drove a few miles home afterwards. Do you no if the belt also runs the waterpump?
It has a separate belt for the water pump.
Whats the maximum you can go front and back on stock suspension and 19” wheels?
25mm is the max and it sits the stock tire size about even with the fender.
Hey Darius are you still there? Can you tell me about the RPM issues?
Which RPM issues are you referring to?
I have the same one except I had to drill through block. I did run a drain hose out through the wall. Works decent.
I thought about doing a drain outside but I put the vent too high for it to drain. I may just put a 5 gallon bucket back there for it free drain into.
Thanks!
Thank you! I’m glad you found the video helpful!!
Good video. Just to reiterate another commentor, don't get aftermarket for this part (as many parts). OEM Mazda is the way to go, other wise you'll be doing this again real soon.
I absolutely agree! It’s not a bad job to do, but it’s also not something I would want to do often
hello, it seems to be a good idea ,but i have a question. My car is connected to 70Amp battery witch circuit breaker i need : 70Amp or 80 Amp or 100 Amp or 150Amp ?
What are you using the circuit breaker for? That will determine what amp you need to protect what you are powering
I have a basic installation, and i even not have a radio or cooler ,i juste want to concerve and protect all my fuses and avoid any electric problems , i have a old car from 1995
It depends on how much the draw is. If it safely draws 100A, you wouldn’t want a 70A breaker.
@@DariusBuildz thank you for answer.....one of the sellers advise me to put 60 Amp circuit breaker... realy i dont know witch one i schould choose. Any way, if we simulate a short circuit with this 70amp battery , we should give the same current level i.e. 70 amp. but when the car is running , it is impossible to have a short circuit because in the circuit we have a lot of current consumers, add to this the alternator produce not less than 50 Amp, so 50+70 is 120 Amp, and the biggest Fuse that i have is 40 amp. Conclusion 60 amp it should be enough, isn't?
Those lock washers are for the wheels. They're on step 1 of the instructions.
Ahhh. Must not have been that important 😆
Did you ever do the sound deadening??
Yes. I have one layer of dynamat and a layer of dynaliner behind the speaker. Helps with mid bass a lot and also decreased the rattle in the door and mirror.
@@DariusBuildz Ima prob go with amazon basics cuz im cheap. So you removed the sytaroam on the door panel and replaced that with the new liner basically? Did you add any to the door frame itself.
I put it on the door skin, not under the door panel.
I think the hinge is just if people wanna upgrade to a hood later bc that's what the hooded version uses. But I bet theres some sort of way to drill holes and add screws into the cover that will allow it to work with the hinges.
I don’t want to pay almost $200 for the upgraded hood, but I also can’t just add a bolt in there bc it won’t open. So I’m going to play around with some ideas, make a few brackets and see what I can come up with.
@@DariusBuildz yeah I don't think it's worth it either. Lmk what you come up with bc I'm planning to get the same model this month
Im probably going to go to lowes, see if they have one and try to copy that hinge and make one, lol
So that’s just auto draining water straight down into the car ?
what little water it traps yes. It probably can only hold a few ounces of water.
Hi, may I know if my 2016 Mazda 3 1.5 also have two belt for replacement thanks
it seems like the 1.5L may only have 1 belt, from my limited research.
This bike inspired my big block Motovox build ❤
Im glad that it has inspired people! The 340 is probably going to end up on my Baja, so thats going to be a scary ride in the woods, lol
Is it better with selicone ?
I did it with flexible silicone based sealant, mind you used screen clamps and lefr it for 24h to dry.
@@mastacrx yes Sir. Thank you
@@burns985 No problem👍
Some people have used silicon with great success. I have also used E6000 glue as well.
Excellent how to! Looking forward to getting this done on our Mazda next weekend. Thanks!
Im glad people are still using it as a guide and reference! If you have trouble getting the stretch to fit water pump belt on, look up the zip tie trick!
Sorry you had to let her go mane 😢. Glad to let you know l got my 340 up to stage 3 then the rod decided to blow a hole thru the block... since then upgraded to an electric start 390 and swapping the parts over to that 💪
I had thought about building the 340 until I saw the prices on the parts! plus, 65 was plenty fast enough for me! I wish I had kept the DuroMax 440 I had!
Did the wheels sell already?
Yes. The guy that bought the frame bought everything but the motor
EXCELLENT video, by the way ! 😉
Thanks! 🙏
Please use Akibono brake pads. Japanese technology Made in USA ! Help keep american manufacturing alive.
I'll look into them for when I do the cx9 front brake upgrade.
Man just buy new rotors. They are cheap (I got 2 rear for $47 w/shipping) Then you have all new metal to absorb all that heat. "Turning them" you lose precious Iron !
The rotors I buy are $50 each, and were basically new except for the fact that the ebrake locked up on me eating my pads away. I rather save money, and support my local brick and mortar store by utilizing their services. And they turn very little material off of the rotor and the rotor has a minimal thickness as well so its all good. 👍

That is something that has came up in my life I've built some fun bike but kids are all getting older and my youngest son I dropped off at recruitment office this morning he heading to basic I'm building myself a stretched vox to cruise around on nothing crazy stage 2 tilly on gps 10" wheels after that idk man maybe a boat start fishing more
It was fun to build and even more fun to ride. But all my local buddies sold theirs and it’s no fun to ride alone. The father had just built him a mini bike and this was bought for the son, so I’m glad it went to someone that is going to continue making memories with it.
Man an Era has come to an End. This was literally one of the first Motovox videos I ever watched almost a yr ago
I will definitely miss it. But she is now making new memories and making someone else smile. I will probably end up putting the 340 on my Baja so stay tuned!
Bro said, I don't need to pull this cover off before putting self tappers through it. There's nothing important back there. Lol
If I was running 2” screws it would be an issue, but it’s nothing back there in that void for some 1/2” self tappers to interfere with.
PAPERTOWEL HOLDER IS UP SIDE DOWN.
If you watched the video I point that out.
I don't know how you Hammered out the ball joint so effortlessly. I pounded on the control arm with a mini sledge and it's not budging
My buddy couldn’t hammer his out either.
@@DariusBuildz I got it eventually but man that thing was stubborn.
Corrosion or rust holding it in?
@@DariusBuildz I'm honestly not sure. The ball joint was the main component that needed to be replaced so i wonder if the damage might've had something to do with it. There was a little crud around the top of the ball joint but I didn't see any rust or anything when I finally got it out.
Why do you use 28:1 for the MT?
I’ve ran 25:1 to 32:1 and 28:1 has just ran better for me in NC. It’s some guys running 40:1 in their XT’s And MT’s.
@@DariusBuildz okay I live in Seattle and it’s always raining and kinda cold I’m currently waiting for my MT to get here and been seeing lots of different mixtures on videos. Thank you for the response
No problem! Make sure you follow the break in procedure and enjoy it!
Not all heroes wear capes

Damn bro, you gotta keep posting these quick fixes. I just got a 6 and broke the armrest the second day I got it. Fixed in 10 minutes. Also, the rattling Bose speaker fix is fire. Saved tons of money on this. At this point I might crash my car and most likely you will have a Free.99 fix for it.
I’m glad it’s helping people! A lot of this stuff is pretty simple but can be intimidating if you don’t know what’s going on. And please don’t crash the 6 😂. That might be a $10.99 fix instead of a $free.99 😂
sick dude! love the videos
I have a little bit more work to do and hopefully I’ll be hitting the trails this summer!
Did this in a couple hours thanks to this video - appreciate you making it
Glad it helped!
If you dont have the magnet socket a piece of hose works great , i like to use it to start it also less chance of crossthreading . Great in tight spot also . Good video about to do my wife's car . Man does that thing use the oil .
My wife’s car makes it about 1000 miles now before the oil light comes on and the check engine light comes on from low oil pressure. We are just waiting for a audible knock so that Kia will replace the engine under the warranty/ recall.
Did you prime your tensioner by pumping it 5 times slowly? Mine had explicit instructions to make SURE I primed it. I know there were 3 different models of these tensioners because so many had issues. So I'm hoping that mine was the corrected or fixed version... because i dont want to do it again soon. It wasnt super difficult but it wasnt cheap either. Great video! I also couldn't torque specs anywhere...if anyone know a good resource for that. I downloaded 2 service manuals and nothing...over 2000 pages...not a word
I did not prime my tensioner. This is the first I’ve heard of that. And it’s probably no torque specs bc it’s probably all but impossible to torque these down. Sometimes you have to do the German Torque Spec of Gudentite 😂. I have since went back to the OEM tensioner and belts after both gates belts broke on me.
45 days ago I went to the dealer which I never do, the came back with 5700.00 in repairs. I went in for a transmission drain and fill only. I did decide to replace the font and back brakes two rotors also. The said I had hardly any oil in my car I just had it changed 4;mos earlier. The said that my value gasket cover had a major leak. So got that done. Ugh then they said I needed new bushings tie rods and I got the tie rods done along with an alignment they said I needed. I also so had a cracked leaking tensioner didn’t get that done. Also said my bushings needed replacement didn’t do. Sway bars needed replacement didn’t do. Total 3,698 they saw me coming I did get those things done because I was in a pinch. Funny thing is my car ran perfect never noticed anything so they probably screwed Maugham from now on I only get an estimate to determine the problem and go somewhere else with the paperwork. Thank you for your honesty.
I was taught early on to work and fix stuff since all the men in my family have 60’s and 70’s GM vehicles. It’s also made sense as I got older why so many people “neglected” their cars bc everything was so expensive to pay a shop. One thing I realized later in life through other people is that a shop will indeed rob you blind and most people just don’t know and have no reference and they can and will recommend stuff that doesn’t really need to be done, but they can make a quick dollar off of it. It’s really nasty if you thinking about how many unaware people they get everyday.
@@DariusBuildz I wished I was a guy then I might understand cars better! I agree, yes the will rip anyone they can off so sad.
Hi, I have a 2017 1/2 6 same color. I also have paint chips even on my hood in the very front. My driver seat is starting to rip as well. I currently have 104,000 I bought 3 years ago with 44,000. Love this car so much so fun to drive, great gas mileage too. Can I ask where did you get your rain guards.? I purchased a set from weather tech, I like how yours have no gap in the middle seem. Thanks for sharing.
As of today she is at 248,000 miles and I still enjoy driving this car everyday! The visors I got on eBay: ebay.us/AiqaJm

You just admit, it looked like 💩 😂.
Do you still have these? I'm thinking about getting them. Have you ever had any complains if it being too bright?
Yes. They have been fine. No complaints on the brightness. I have them on my 6 and on my Yukon.
Fuel pump does not need power ??
No. It’s runs off of vacuum. It’s mechanical.
Is the 6 180hp? Or 187hp? And I think you didn't get it in sport, and I saw you saying the the AC is not which makes the diffrence really, and the big rims. I think you could've win agains the Mounaineer. And the person with the Miata slapping the gears, broooo :D. Was the audi 150 hp? 180?120?
It’s whatever the stock 2.5 is. And I wasn’t racing to be competitive. It was $5 to race, so why not
Just ordered the megan racing "race-spec" strut brace for my 2019 civic coupe 1.5t. I hope its decent. I always had good luck with their products on other cars back in the day. Like circa 2002-2007.
I can def tell a difference with it on. It’s not life changing, but less input is needed when spirited driving commences lol
@@DariusBuildz next is springs and some nice shocks
Lowering a car makes all the difference for sure!
when your tank would leak and drain, would your bags also leak over time and your car be lower? thats the issue i’m having but my fitting connected to my water trap is leaking as well
The tank draining shouldn’t affect your bags leaking down. If your bags are leaking down that between the manifold and the bag fittings
Just got my module in the mail today and installed. My door panel was giving me a run for my money and blood from my fingers is now embedded in this car for the first time because of the window piece. 😂 However, for anyone who gets one where the module is placed in here (I placed mine in the same spot). Trim the foam piece down and it’ll all fit like a glove and it puts pressure on it to keep it from moving. The video for install was amazing btw, I love this module and it finally making this car more modern. 😂
Solid advice and I’m glad you are enjoying it! Mazda had the option on the 2nd gen but I guess Mazda valued it out for the 3rd gen
