I think Rory was the greatest of all time I saw him twice in concert most exciting passionate guitar player of all time he was idol when I was a young lad and he still is my idol to this very day
Took both my Irish parents to see our Ruarì at Hammersmith Odeon as it was back in 1977. Was great seeing watching their faces light up, An Irish generation long before him being so happy! 🇮🇪🥰☘️
Rory's best line up imo. I love Rod's drumming style which really suited Rory I think., but they are all great. So fortunate to have seen Rory live in his prime in the 70s.
It's been a while since I've come across a UA-cam video from as far back as 2006. Glad to know people have been enjoying this great performance by Rory all this time.
Why is it that Rory makes every other blues man look and sound like they were just going through the motions? We'll never see another like him. He was in his own universe.
I was at a Violent Femmes/Flogging Molly concert this past September in Big Flats, NY. All the t-shirts were there. And then I saw this young guy, early 20's or so, wearing a Rory Gallagher t-shirt. Probably was embarrassing to him that a 60 something woman ran up to him gushing about how cool his shirt was, but hell. It was a Rory Gallagher shirt worn by a really young person!
One of Ireland's finest .. Born in County Donegal and raised in County Cork... from one end of Ireland to the other .. from one end of our planet to the other there was simply no better blues guitarist... RORY was awsome .. R.I.P !
I knew him before he was famous but only cause I lived across the border from his homeplace. He was older than me but he introduced me to blues rock and his music lives on
Rory played Guitar ,mandolin ,acoustic ,slide, saxaphone ,Celtic, folk,Blues ,Rock ,Jazz and wrote ,sang and kicked ass live .Sounds.Quite versatile to me!
Also knew his way around a piano, wrote great songs and sang them. In his earlier days he had a harp brace so he could play the harmonica AND his trusty Strat! Miss you my good friend.. RIP Rory...
Saw Rory live in El Paso TX in 71 or 72, hard to remember those years were a smoke filled haze think it was 71 had just gotten to El Paso. He was second billed to Ted Nugent and The Amboy Dukes. Rory Gallagher Blew the Nuge off the Stage he was Freaking Amazing, totally underrated and unappreciated in the States. I had never heard of him before that show but have never forgotten him since
@MrDomino5 He has just become my new guitar hero and inspiration. So many riffs to learn from him man! I'm ashamed to say that I hadn't really discovered him until a few days ago though I had heard his name here and there over the years. You are a lucky man to have seen him live which sadly I am too late to ever have to opportunity to do.
Wow, never saw that clip before. That's my favorite Rory song. Incredible. Love the Brian May quote below. May seems like such a humble guy himself and for him to speak so highly of Rory. Speaks volumes.
wow that was an INTRO! some jamming around the main tune, some cool stuff, little impro... than "one two three four" BOOM. that shit blew my head away.
Not enough superlatives to say how sublime a guitarist/performer Rory was.Saw the man 3 times, like lightning in a bottle, Superb on stage. The Maestro ☘
Lucky you. Was talkin to the ole man today about rory and taste, (whom put me on to his music and was also lucky enough to see him live twice in england, once in newcastle town hall and he's not sure on the other venue, his memory aint so good he say's lol) but we both noted on how he dresses, so simple jeans, tanner boots or tennis shoes and a checked short sleeved shirt. A true Rocker agreed???
been introduced to this guy a few weeks ago, and im totally blown away! he just makes it look so effortless. his transitions between riffs are fantastic as he uses techniques ive never seen before. loving the strat btw. looks like its seen better days though xD peace. x
That's D most famous Stratocaster EVER !! Made famous by the miles travelled and gigs played at the hands of master musician and innovation doing stuff Eddie Van Halen gets the credit for originating 10+years later. I'm glad you found him and know enough about playing to get an appreciation of Rorys unique magical licks. We loved him as a truly lovely humble person and accessable to the common man always..A pleasure.
Rory was and always will be one of the very best guitarist's ever, he was such a gracious guy and never had an ill word said about him. Rory you are loved and missed by so many..you were too young to leave us my friend. Godbless. Thanks Jude for posting this link at your site. Love you too my friend. (Emporess of Zepland :) Pussz!.........Ed
rory ! speechless! what can you say about this only absolutely amazing - has to be one of the best of all time i don't think too many would argue with that, amzazing talent, if only i had 1% of it, wish u were still here rory
I saw him in the early 70’s when he was doing the college gigs, I’ve seen a lot of good bands but that is the one that I remember the best, pure energy and commitment, never seen better
First time seeing this clip by Rory omg! From the intro this song just kills it. Rory has been and always will be one of my top 3 favorite players who are the other two? Well that will be another time! Rory just flat out kills it here!
I know. I know. But be thankful RG left a LOT of great music in his time. And be 2X as grateful you have UA-cam to see him live. When i first got into Rory in 94, there were only a few of his cds available. Now everything you need is right at your fingertips. Enjoy and be well.
I saw Rory in the early 70s at Sullivan County Community College. It was a freakish great show. He was so under-rated. A great singer and fantastic guitar player.
When I got the Tattoo album used to play this track over and over. It probably turned me onto the blues more than anything else at the time - my favourite Rory track - bless 'im! Never saw him actually playing it until today - THANK YOU!
Rory was great ! I'm glad I've discovered his music, he's now one of my greatest guitar inspiration. My personal Top is: 1. Rory and SRV, two best guitarists ever 2.Jimmy Page 3.Hendrix and Clapton
This made the BIG LIST, the net is the world's first jukebox, and this is the first contents of that music - the very best music from every place on earth that most have never heard.
I used to hear that Rory was playing Montreux but had no idea what it was about. Thank heaven for DVDs! I've got this Montreux DVD but haven't watched it yet - I got all the DVDs of Rory I could find, so give me a chance! 10/10 for this song! R.I.P. Rory.
Gorgeous. One of Rory's trademark songs, and personally, I love this band lineup. Rod is a great power drummer, Gerry is a splendid bassist, and Lou never got the credit he deserved as a keyboard player.
Another guitar monster is the late great Danny gatton who was the worlds best guitarist along with Rory here both are my favorite players for a long time check out Danny his playing is otherworldly and complex playing all genres and mixing them together he was called the humbler and for a very good reason!
@@claytongillaspy8847 I think Buckethead might have them both beat as far as pure guitar proficiency, virtuosity ,and versatility goes. But that's just my opinion. If you listen to For Mom then liquid Mantis then Disinigration Mirrors then Listen For The Whisper its like is this really the same guitarist?
The drummer is Rod de'Ath and the guy on keyboards is Lou Martin.IMHO the best line up of them all.Lou was no fool, only a fantastic musician and a great guy.
I saw Mr Gallagher in the mid 70's playing at a club in Glasgow,Scotland when i was in the service and had never heard if him before. We actually went to see Uriah Heep who were great that night.Rory came on 1st and we were in shock,he was ungodly.Energy exploded off the stage and his guitar sounded like it was being played by some alien from Rosewell,NM,nuts. After that we sure as f*ck knew him.Never forget the 'Irish Rocket'.
My dad saw him in Cork on the 1974 tour, he showed me the autograph he got of him and the band, i turned green with envy he said i was talking to him for a while i was real jealous
Hendrix was the most original Guitarist of the last 50 years. Hendrix and Rory are my two favorite Players .Both fantastic ,Rory just had a wider range of styles .I hope they are jamming together in heaven!!
im only 14 and i am addicted to rorys music. i just wish more people would apreciate him. hes without a doubt the best guitarist ever.
@rhuntley862 .. I was just wondering .. what are your thoughts on Rory now? .. greetings from the Netherlands ..
Yeah I wanna know too
I think Rory was the greatest of all time I saw him twice in concert most exciting passionate guitar player of all time he was idol when I was a young lad and he still is my idol to this very day
And now youre 26. Hoping that youve kept your addiction 😎👍
You can't go wrong with Rory!😊🎸💯💥🌟🤟

Nice!
He's one of the most genuine and unpretentious musicians I've ever seen.
someone that never let themselves be bought or sold. he lived with integrity and serves the next gen as an inspiration.
Rory's best line up imo. I love Rod's drumming style which really suited Rory I think., but they are all great. So fortunate to have seen Rory live in his prime in the 70s.

Deeply he was Bluesy....
Talented guy and handsome to boot!

Were he that easily accessible ? Even after becoming hit did he remain approachable !?
Yes he was always approachable but I rarely saw him after that as he was always touring and I had moved away to work
Gawd I miss the 70's.....
Rory played Guitar ,mandolin ,acoustic ,slide, saxaphone ,Celtic, folk,Blues ,Rock ,Jazz and wrote ,sang and kicked ass live .Sounds.Quite versatile to me!

I first saw him play as a warm up band for Rush in the early 80's. Been a fan ever since.
Now there's a man who loved his job. god bless, Rory.
Listen to rory almost every day and still he takes your breath away amazing
I listen to him every day. His music accompanies me on all my bicycle rides. Not to mention the treadmill.
Same same overhere in the Netherlands Rory was and still is my favorite❤

Let me loudly proclaim : this guy belongs in the hall of fame
There needs be be Guitar God Hall Of Fame with Rory Gallagher, Buckethead, and Roy Buchanan in it
I agreed❤
Glad Rory is finally being discussed among the greats now. He deserves it more than anyone
When I saw him on Don Kirschner rock in 72,he performed this tune and I was hooked. At 65 years young-still am.
Rory' 3 CD set "Blues" is excellent! Off The Handle and A Million Miles Away and Born Under A Bad Sign w/Jack Bruce are amazing!
wow that was an INTRO! some jamming around the main tune, some cool stuff, little impro... than "one two three four" BOOM.
that shit blew my head away.
Rory was born to be a legend and died as one.
The definition of rock and roll is Rory Gallagher Plain And Simple
So great... Love you forever, Rory... :'(
Great version of one of my favourite Rory Gallagher songs... definitely one of the greatest guitarists ever! R.I.P. Rory
What a gift. Just incredible! The whole band is fantastic here in this clip. Thanks for posting this. It really takes me back.
raw natural talent in absolute abundance and then thousands of hours of practice
i never saw guitarist that play perfect like rory gallagher
Before SRV there was Rory.
Us Texas Boys loved his rocking blues style.
Let's not forget the great Johnny Winter.
The best display of folk and hard driving slow blues in one song. “ Railway and Gun” gotta go and refresh my memory.

If you were to take out all of the glitz, lights, glamor, and gimmicks of the live stage performances and just graded the talent, RORY is on TOP.
👌👌👌,. GOD BLESS RORY
