Thanks everyone who has already watched, commented, and shown your support for this ♥ it means so much. I would love to know: What is YOUR biggest tip for working through anxiety when goal setting? Let's share the love.
I stand in front of a mirror, and ask myself out loud, “What’s the worst that could happened?” Answer? I’ll wake up tomorrow have a bowl of oatmeal coffee… and I make another go at it then.
I was revisiting this video and had an ah hah moment. I created the grid on a separate paper like you did, but I changed the Goal in the top left to Identity and wrote my rows as affirmations of those identities. Ex: instead of declutter the home, I instead wrote “My home is a clean temple.” In other words, a clean home is a vote for temple it can be for me. 😁
This makes me think about the important (but fluid and personally definable) differences between “tasks” and “goals”. I’m in the Common Planner, too, and in looking at Goals section last week, I started thinking about what my goals are versus what are tasks that need to be accomplished apart from or as part of those goals. Your ‘everyday things I need to do to live’ category is what I’d consider to be “Tasks” in a planner, while I’m choosing to define “Goals” as something more big-picture. (Ex: Lose XX Pounds might be a goal, while Log Steps Daily might be a task.) That being said, I wish there were two such sections in the planner, one for a “Goals” overview (work goals, health goals, etc.) and another one for a “Tasks” overview (wash kitchen sink, wash windows, when to put in new water filters, etc.). Since the latter isn’t actually in the Common Planner, I’ve created a separate B6 notebook for tracking those kinds of tasks, as well as lists, ideas, daily routines, etc. It’s into that notebook that I’d actually put the rough work you did on scrap paper since I’ve come to realize that the rough work is something I want to keep given that it documents important things such as how I think, how I grew, how I got from A to B, and so on. I think we absolutely need to embrace the work, DO the work, and then document the work since that’s where our personal and intellectual development lies. Planners shouldn’t be about being pretty (as fun as that can be) but about helping us in some way(s); that being said, it’s often the work behind the final product that matters the most. Thanks for this video and for bringing up some key points while celebrating the importance of drafting, re-doing, reflecting, scrapping, revising, editing, re-starting - things that are becoming more and more scarce but that are invaluable. And sorry for the long comment but the topic got me inspired!
Andrea I LOVE the long comment. You make a really good point about documenting the work, and how it helps us see how we can grow. If documenting it all in its own notebook works for you, I say more power to you! And I totally see what you mean about Tasks vs Goals. In my system (can't remember if I lay this out in the video) but I use the green pen to document the goals and the red pen to document the actions I need to take. But this is helping me think about where I am keeping track of the day to day things that need to get done. Thank you for commenting and watching
@@RachelleinTheory Thanks for the reassurance re. the comment length! 😅 Glad that we’re both still mulling - I really do think you hit on some great topics worth delving into more since they raise interesting questions about habits, planners, notebooks, the creative process, personal discovery and growth…all things that I love, that you probably do, too, and that likely are of interest to your audience and this community as well. Interesting that you colour-coded; it wasn’t mentioned in the video but it now gives another layer to consider adding to our own systems. I love a community of learning and sharing, and I hope that you throwing your process out there gives others lots of food for thought as well. 👏🏻🙌🏻👍🏻📚
@@andreav1070 I meant to mention the color coding in the video but I forgot! in my sterling ink common planner set up vid (coming this weekend) I talk a little more about it. I'm glad you and others are using this as a jumping off point to consider this stuff! Totally agree with you, it's so important.
By far the best thing I've ever heard in regards to goal planning: what do I need to do to function as a human being? I ALWAYS have such lofty goals and ambitions, but I ALWAYS underestimate the time and energy that I will need to invest in them, and I ALWAYS get discouraged and abandon keeping track of them, which of course leads to a severe lack of progress. This has really given me a LOT to think about, and I'm getting excited about goal planning again!
There is nothing magical about January 1st. I agree, take time, and who cares if you set up goals mid Jan, or March, whenever! A fresh start can happen whenever we need it and I really enjoy the drafting process you went through!
I never realized I was struggling with anxiety to set and write down my goals for 2023 until this video. For the past month, I was inspired by other videos to start thinking about my goals but that's all I've done- think about them. This video made me realize that I am afraid/anxious to write them down. I will try to..no, I will write them out on a draft paper with pencil. I don't have to have everything figured out. They don' t have to be clear, concise, and specific on my draft. Just start by putting them down on paper! Thank you Rachelle!
This is By Far thee best explanation of how to sharpen your focus and clarify the vague desires rolling around in the brain. Goes to show… planners aren’t really for planning. They’re for action plans to follow thru on. THIS… this is how to plan. Excellent!
This is how I feel about planning! I’ve started using my ringbound planner again but I’ve realised I have to plan in order to put anything apart from appointments in my planner. The only way I can think on paper is actually with a big piece of blank paper.
“Anxiety wants you to set things up so that you can fail at them, so you can be more anxious” 💡💡 that explains A LOT! I haven’t understood that I have anxiety until lately, but this makes so much sense! No wonder I always fail at any goal I set, or make sure I can’t reach them 😅. I’m not setting up goals this year, I’m gonna set up “wants” instead. Goals has become so negatively loaded for me 😅 so trying a new approach this year. I like your method of using different styles to find your priorities! Definitely gonna use that!
I am thrilled to have found this , I was feeling quite overwhelmed with goals/tasks and how to even begin to develop a plan for 2023 , the last week of 2022 ... So helpful!I would say my BIGGEST tip for working through stress/anxiety when setting goals is finding people here, such as yourself, who deal with similar challenges. It's so satisfying to observe and listen and take in great info which is meant to help! Thank You for this!
i have been feeling so. lost. and so unorganised. i just feel like in my brain there’s just furniture floating around and i feel so cluttered and closed in… i just can’t get organised no matter how much i tried to reset my habits and lifestyle this year. i cannot stress how amazingly helpful, clear, inspirational and motivational this video has been for me. as someone who use to always personally take pride in being ‘the organised one’ and the one on top of everything, losing myself and my habits after grief has made me feel like less of a functioning person and like i’ve lost grip of myself. but this video brings me so much comfort, guidance, and much needed structure to my brain which i really, really needed. thank you SO much for this video 🫶🏻
It was great to see a really well thought out and described version of what I do. I set “intentions” in the new year , and commit to my “goals”only around Chinese New Year i.e. a few weeks into the year. This helps me because I still have the buzz to start something new along with everyone else, but also to put things into practice before I make a strong commitment to myself .. I started doing this because it aligns better with my work calendar..but even after switching jobs, I’m planning to continue the ritual
LOVED this whole process!!! I feel like I set the same exact goals every year and I wonder why I never accomplish any of them 😭 Maybe this will help! 1. The dream goals if you had infinite time 2. Rating your life, finding out your priorities 3. The reality of your life, what you have to do to function, how much time you are already using 4. What can you actually use in your free time, what dream goals can you fit in and how much of it ✍️ Putting this in my notes rn!
I dunno how you make this so calming to listen to but it works! Whenever I’m planning I write a bunch of stuff on post-it notes just to get it off my brain then I rearrange them and group similar ones together. If I find I’m repeating some or find a lot of them are grouped together then I realize I’m more excited or passionate about one thing
This was so helpful. I realized one of the reasons I had goal anxiety is because it is too much. I narrowed it down to 3 areas and it feels so much better 🙏🏻 thank you!
I have avoided goal setting like the plague for years. I know there are areas of my life I am scared to tackle. I guess my 2023 goal should be: rethink goal setting! This video was surely helpful :)
Thank you for speaking about daily tasks that need attention each day ( like meal planning & showering, etc) and then adding goals after reviewing the amount of time available to commit to any goal. I appreciate you sharing your process.
Yes, that got me inspired too. Take the time, make a rough draft and step by step go closer to what you want and what you can do. Thanks @Rachelle for this very inspiring video.
This was actually very helpful...I have such a hard time finding a system that will work for me. The challenging part for me though, I could still write the things I want to accomplish, do and reestablish back into my life and it will still look like gibberish. It's breaking them down into daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly tasks/goals and how often I need to do those things can also be frustrating and time consuming.
Excellent job at walking us through your thought process! It ABSOLUTELY should take a week, or more....just think of how much time you're planning on giving to these priorities! 🙂
Thank you SO much for this! Other than the amazing transparency which is awesome on its own, I feel like this is so reassuring. I have struggled so much with goal-setting before, and always had the same "perfect" vision for a life that is full of these amazing (and so very numerous) goals, but never actually got any closer to achieving them. This breakdown and revisiting is definitely something I'll try. Thank you! Also the idea of starting from a place where you ACTUALLY are and your life that you're already living - golden!
Wow... this was great. I am exactly like this with goals. I overdo it and then don't succeed and then give up and feel like I did nothing during the year. I think I'm going to just pick one this year. If I get it to where I want it, I'll pick another one. But I do have so much other stuff to just live and take care of my family that I don't have even close to the extra time to do everything I want all at once. Thank you you for this perspective. I never realized how much my anxiety plays into the goal setting process.
Rachelle, you've been reading my mind these days! I've been putting off goal setting for the new year for a while now, but I really like this approach, so I think I'll be giving it a try. Everything always feels so permanent when I put it down into a pretty new planner! I think my biggest tip so far has been to embrace flexibility with goals - sometimes life will happen and you'll have to reevaluate and adjust your goals based on what will work for you. Last year, my personal goals were all thrown out of the window after a parent was diagnosed with a serious illness and I became my household's sole breadwinner. I'm happy to be back in a place where I can focus on myself and health again for 2023, but I'll be gentle with myself if I need to change things up!
Following along with this video has been one of the best decisions I've made all year - thank you for being such a clear communicator and for the reminder to prioritize basic needs over ideal projects/goals! Loving your content!!
Thank you for being open with your thought process and a real person. I have gone through multiple drafts of my goals for 2023 for over a month and fully understand the anxiety of it and the need to take a step back to reflect.
This is the first video on your channel that I've watched and loved it! You hit the nail on the head when you said your original goals were not realistic. I feel that way EVERY year and this year I've decided to reflect on that idea more than ever. I need to set things up differently and I like your ideas. Ironically, one of my main health goals this year is to address my ongoing anxiety head on as it's taking a toll on my body. I am taking my time deciding this year what that will look like on a daily, weekly, monthly basis. Baby steps is my new mantra
Yes, baby steps for sure. Dealing with anxiety is SO tough, speaking as someone who has done it for many many years. A tip I received from a therapist early on was to make a list of accomplishments at the end of each day. It worked for me for a good long time. Good luck Lisa and thanks for watching :)
I love this! Particyularly the idea of using different systems to figure out what your top priorities really are. I was overwhelmed with all the goals I set last year. You've insprired me to stop procrastinating and get started and be more realistic.
This was great detail. Thank you! A few tips: I like to set up my goals in Notes on my phone then transfer to my planner. This takes away some of the anxiety I have around organizing my goals because I can move stuff around easily. The other tip is defining your values and bouncing your draft goals against them to see how they match up. Very helpful.
Hi Rachel. This video, which I'm watching 5 months after the fact, is SOOOO helpful. I've always had trouble with goal setting, even not knowing what to set as goals. Years ago, I watched the movie Backdraft. It made a lasting impression on me in that it's the first time I saw something as not human as an actual character in the drama. That was FIRE. When you were talking about anxiety, I began to look at it as a separate entity and character. Sometimes you have to see things from the outside before you know what you need to do to handle it. In any case, you've inspired me to look at some things differently. Thanks.
Agree with your strategy to do it separate from the planner. This is really fantastic, meaty content. I love the beautiful deco vids too, but process videos are definitely few and far between on the PlannerTubes lately and your channel is an excellent add. ❤ Subscribing.
This is pretty helpful for me. I wrote down all my goals for like my entire life (roughly) and have been just staring at all them wondering where to even start. I went back and consolidated them because a lot of them overlapped but I didn't think of prioritizing them or just choosing a few for a each year. And these are all things that have like multiple parts too, so I was really stressing out lol
Starting early enough to be able to give myself time to let things percolate has helped a lot. Also, lowering my expectations for my own energy and decreasing the number of hours in the day when I am goal-focused. Planning with “ideal me” in mind is a recipe for failure. If I do more than planned, nifty. But I no longer want to feel behind 2 weeks in.
"I no longer want to feel behind 2 weeks in"... HARD SAME. At work, my team and I figure out how many hours we have in the week for priorities and then cut that in half and plan around that. It's always a good idea to give yourself LOTS of space.
I have been anxious about this year too. There are so many things just happening at certain times - my daughter’s graduation, college prep for two kids, a big trip to Japan, etc. What I’ve been having to face is how can I fit in things like a book release and be a part of the groups I’ve been a part of for writing events, too. What can I handle without feeling raw, broken, and burnt out. So you’ve kicked me in the rear to start drafting a more realistic time for my book release and a what I can handle in my writing groups. This is great timing for me to really side down and plan the next 6-7 months. Thank you!
Amy you are so welcome!! It sounds like you have a big and exciting year ahead of you and I'm happy that you're remembering to take care of yourself through it all :)
I save scratch paper for this sort of thing. Backs of junk mail, things I'll shred later, bad print-outs. Punch holes, store them in binders and in drawers so that paper is always available. No sense wasting money/new paper for dafts of initial goals, sketches of ideas. Using a computer to quickly typing and editing is also helpful, including printing projects and their strategies and tasks, especially things that have to be sequential. This helps because I'm a highly visual learner. Helps me break things down and figure out where actions go in a planning system.
This is a great video, I have referenced this at least 3 times! Thank you for sharing this with us. I know I am so very grateful! I’m working on my last quarter goals this week and this is helping greatly!
Flylady shared the idea of using page protectors and handwritten routines tucked into them and dry erase markers to check off what has been accomplished. Easy to wipe off each day (or week, etc.) , only one piece of paper 'sacrificed' if you make a major change to the list. Eventually, you can create pretty pages that are truly customized to you, to the season of year or the season of life that you are in.
I absolutely love this!! ❤❤❤ You’ve perfectly captured and defined exactly what I’ve been thinking and feeling, but very erratically, over the last few years! I totally agree that it’s vital to make space for the all important everyday tasks and habits that support and nourish you so that you can then go after your big goals. Daily care is essential, not a luxury. Thank you so much for putting it so concisely. 🤗
This video has been the best thing I've seen in a long time and ITS EXACTLY what I needed. I've been trying to organize my life and plan out my goals since the beginning of high school, and a lot has changed since then- but not my perfectionism and anxiety. The entire process got far too tedious to plan all the way through within the first few minutes of me sitting down at my desk and this video REALLY helped me reimagine what my system COULD be, and its a giant weight lifted off my shoulders. THANK YOU
Thank you for this inspiring video. I think I need to watch again. At first it is a lot to take in but I did what you did by adding goals without taking the every day necessities in mind. I will now start over. Blessings
I have the Common Planner and I had decided to completely ignore the Goals section. As I've watched UA-camrs breakdown their goals I realized that I could set a few goals for myself. It seems like a New Years resolution is really a goal. I had already set up the January tracker section with six things I want to track and improve upon. I need to rewatch your goal planning system because it seems like something I can do.
Very good video. Concentrating on what will truly make you happy and not setting yourself up for failure by expecting yourself to do too much. I made plans for myself last year and a new list for this year. However, I plan to redo the list quarterly this year and assess what is working and what isn't. Plus, things change and in a few months, you might need to concentrate on something else.
I really loved your goal setting breakdown! I’ve looked at and tried many different methods but I always got so overwhelmed and eventually I thought I was deficient somehow in “not being able to do it like X”. I also have bouts of anxiety and recently discovered (embraced) that I have ADHD and am finding new ways to work with my brain that will keep me on track but also aid my personal growth. This method seems very promising! Thank you for your wonderful share!
Thank you Elizabeth! It was truly born from my frantic and anxiety-ridden brain and I hope it can help someone else with the same problem 😂 Best wishes to you!
This is so much more helpful to me than the videos of people talking to a camera and throwing a slide of text up. Examples are necessary for some people.
I really love this approach, extra feels that I have the same kind of mail goals as you (healthier body and losing weight, and I too miss being a reader).
This video is so great! Thinking of when will one fit all those tasks (corresponding to each goal) during our daily lives is so important, and I don't know any system out there that clearly state that. So, you nailed it! thank you so much for sharing! :)
This was super helpful! I am using the Companion Notebooks from the MakseLife system AND the Sterling Ink Common Planner and have been stressing about my goals. This was a blessing! Thank you so much!
I took your advice and did these steps. The most helpful part for me was doing the exercise where I rated my satisfaction of the 8 parts of the wheel of life. And it made it very clear what I need to focus on next year. I was able to narrow down my goals into 3 main focus and came up with actionable steps to accomplish them. This is much more doable than tracking the 10 goals I had before. Thanks for sharing your process!
The process may seem overwhelming - but it made perfect sense to me! 🥰Thank you for showing your process, I just had a not-so-pretty notebook out for just this purpose before watching the video 😅
Oh my gosh! You are so good at this! I feel like I’m going to need some adult supervision to navigate this process😂 But this is exactly what i was looking for!!
My biggest tip for planning is to plan for the timeline you are comfortable with. If you can't get yourself to focus and write down goals for the whole year; try narrowing the focus to what you can do or want to do in a quarter (3 months) or even the next 4 weeks. I've found that I overwhelm myself with all the things I'd like to do in the next year and I then can't get myself to take action. I am currently reviewing my progress this year and have decided to reset my goals so I am only planning for the next month. After the month I will review my progress and decide how long I want to plan for next. Once you pick a timeline and what you want to accomplish in that time you then need to break each want or goal into tasks you can do to reach that goal. Each goal might consist of some actions you do daily, combined with other actions that are once off, and more that are done weekly, fortnightly, etc. So break the goal into tasks/actions and decide how often to repeat them. The step many people miss is to schedule the time out of their life to actually work on their goals/do the actions or tasks. Even if you can only set aside 15 minutes every day to do something towards your big goal, consistent action wins. Blessings from South Eastern Australia, Dot
Omg this changes EVERYTHING! I just realized when I'm studying at university I tend to fail more with my goals. And that's because I don't have enough time to accomplish the one hundred goals I settled when I'm on holidays. Thank to your video now I'm going to pay attention on the amount of time I spend doing tasks I need to "function as a human being" and THEN set my goals 🥺💕
wow, this is like,,,,, exactly what I needed. I've never set goals before because I never knew how to start. even if I don't follow this exactly, it really helps to see what the thought process was in such detail. really helped my adhd brain
excellent video! truly appreciate your honesty regarding personal goal setting, reflection, and time management! i love the aesthetics of pretty planners & the smell of a fresh new notebook, but the most important thing is how it's used! thank you for sharing your process - subscribed :)
This was so very helpful! Thank you so much. I’ve been drafting my goals on scrap paper as well (same pen to paper anxiety) and still haven’t added them to my 2023 planner. I’m going to do some research and testing to fine tune further. I think that’s been part of the hold up on finalizing them. They might get added by February. But I’m ok with that! 😂
Something I try to keep in mind when I goal set is that the goals are an ideal, they are what we would like to get out of the coming year but sometimes things happen. They can be big world wide things (as we all learned in 2020) but sometimes it’s something small. If you suffer from depression holding yourself to the standard you would if you were in a mentally stable isn’t productive or good for yourself. We should all strive for our goals but not meeting a goal doesn’t mean failure because whether you meet a goal or not you’ve grown from who you were before. Remember kindness towards yourself is just as important as being ambitious and productive. I hope everyone has a wonderful 2023 I’m rooting for all of you!
Thank you so much for posting this! I've watched it all the way through multiple times now and I'm already seeing how much I was overwhelming myself with my goals.
Thanks Rachelle! This was an eye-opening way to approach goal setting and really get into analyzing whether something is a goal to achieve or if it's just a habit you want to start. And, whether you're being realistic with your time and setting too many goals. Really helpful!
Honestly the thought of going through this much extra work gives me more anxiety than just goal setting in my goal setting notebook. I agree that you should brainstorm beforehand, but the thought of going through that many drafts is overwhelming
I’m so happy I found this channel 🥲🖤 my current planning method was getting super stale, and my monthly spreads are always bloated with goals that I never complete 🥲🥲🥲 so writing them down ahead of time and then breaking then down (and maybe again) is so useful and actionable for my adhd brain 😂
With the sheet that has columns for goals you want to reach "someday", 1 year, quarterly, monthly, weekly and daily I have a question. Do the rows represent one goal all the way across? So you start with the goal you want to reach for example "declutter my house" as the one year goal and then in each column from left to right you breakdown the goal into how much of that goal you want to do in the next quarter, month, weekly actions and daily actions? The intention being that you are planning backwards from the big goal down to the tiniest action that takes you 5 to 15 minutes daily. OR were you listing separate goals under each column heading? For example 3 big goals you want to work on/improve were health, relationships and organisation, quarter goals were to meal plan the next 90 days and create ingredient and shopping lists for each week of meals. I guess what I'm asking is did you relate your big yearly or quarterly goals to the weekly or daily goals or were they just random and overwhelming because of the number of goals? I'm not sure if you did it deliberately but each time you showed your sheets and pointed out sections it was blurry so I couldn't read the words or even column titles which I assumed were; someday, 1 year, quarterly, etc. Blessings from South Eastern Australia, Dot
I’m trying quarterly goals this year. Most of my “goals” seem to be more of a huge “To Do” list from all the procrastination I’ve done since “The Vid” entered our lives. All of the other long-term goals are set up as individual habit trackers that I will evaluate/change monthly.
I'd like to honor your process by calling the draft something special, like ''initial planning'' or ''plan development'' or ''big picture evaluation.'' Some call it ''pre-planning.''
Thank you, from the bottom of my anxious heart, soul and mind, for this video! It popped up on my home page and I just wanted to let you know how helpful all of your tips have been! Well- I’ve just finished watching the vid but I wrote down like, 2 pages of notes hahah, so after I finish my weekly spreads for December and my reflexions on 2022, I’m definitely using this method to set my goals for the upcoming year. I seriously cannot thank you enough! And on another note, I was wondering if you’d mind if I translated my notes into Spanish to share them on my socials (with the proper credit of course!!!). It’s just that most of my followers don’t understand English quite as well, so please let me know! Once again, thank you, and have a great 2023! ✨
Emilia yes!!! Please feel free to translate, tag me on Instagram @rachelleintheory or here on UA-cam if you post. Please also link back to this video if you don't mind :) And share the translations with me so I can link them in the description of this video and on my insta! We have to share the knowledge!!! I'm so happy you chose to watch, comment, and do this amazing thing for your followers. ♥️
so useful!! i'm 62 and just learned last year that people make goals and I have such a hard time writing something down! Are you an enneagram 5??? so i have made significant progress in my mental health and spiritual growth in the last 2 decades and i retire in 5 years. i want to learn how to be self-motivating AND to know what staying active in my profession is going to look like. thanks so much!
Thanks everyone who has already watched, commented, and shown your support for this ♥ it means so much. I would love to know: What is YOUR biggest tip for working through anxiety when goal setting? Let's share the love.
I have anxiety about this too. Lol especially putting it in a brand new planner...not sure how to begin. I'll try your suggestion until it works🙂

Establishing basic care BEFORE getting into bigger goals is exactly what I needed. Thank you so much!
You're so welcome Kate!!
same!
So crazy how our actual functional human being stuff gets forgotten in the planning process, right? Thanks for commenting!
There is nothing magical about January 1st. I agree, take time, and who cares if you set up goals mid Jan, or March, whenever! A fresh start can happen whenever we need it and I really enjoy the drafting process you went through!
Thank you Liz and I agree - you can create a fresh start whenever you need it!
Nadege
This is exactly what i tend to feel. You've put it into words wonderfully. I think it's time to pick up that pen.
This is By Far thee best explanation of how to sharpen your focus and clarify the vague desires rolling around in the brain. Goes to show… planners aren’t really for planning. They’re for action plans to follow thru on. THIS… this is how to plan. Excellent!
THANK YOU ♥️
This is how I feel about planning!
I love that you are changing the terminology to something that works for you! That's perfect. Wishing you all the best on your 2023 "wants" ☺️
Thank you SO much for commenting this. This is exactly why I made this vid. 😌 Thanks for watching and commenting.
i have been feeling so. lost. and so unorganised. i just feel like in my brain there’s just furniture floating around and i feel so cluttered and closed in… i just can’t get organised no matter how much i tried to reset my habits and lifestyle this year. i cannot stress how amazingly helpful, clear, inspirational and motivational this video has been for me. as someone who use to always personally take pride in being ‘the organised one’ and the one on top of everything, losing myself and my habits after grief has made me feel like less of a functioning person and like i’ve lost grip of myself. but this video brings me so much comfort, guidance, and much needed structure to my brain which i really, really needed. thank you SO much for this video 🫶🏻
I really like that ritual. The year is long, it's OK to take a few weeks to get settled into the year with your goals. :)
LOVED this whole process!!! I feel like I set the same exact goals every year and I wonder why I never accomplish any of them 😭 Maybe this will help!
1. The dream goals if you had infinite time
2. Rating your life, finding out your priorities
3. The reality of your life, what you have to do to function, how much time you are already using
4. What can you actually use in your free time, what dream goals can you fit in and how much of it
✍️ Putting this in my notes rn!
NICOLE! You distilled this way better than I did 😂 I'm so glad you think it will help!!
❤ this idea!!!
I'm so glad!!! ❤
Me too!! I’m so inspired by this process.
Are you me? I have never deliberately set a goal one single time in my life.
Thank you for speaking about daily tasks that need attention each day ( like meal planning & showering, etc) and then adding goals after reviewing the amount of time available to commit to any goal. I appreciate you sharing your process.
thanks Dee
Exactly!! Taking time to really think about your goals is SO necessary. Thanks for watching and commenting
Thank you so much Yasmine
Such a realistic approach! I’m inspired to tackle my goals. 🙌🏻
Yay I'm so glad!
Wow... this was great.
Thank you so much for sharing ❤️ One goal sounds perfect. I wish you all the good fortune & remember to go easy on yourself in the process!
Omg Sabrina
Following along with this video has been one of the best decisions I've made all year - thank you for being such a clear communicator and for the reminder to prioritize basic needs over ideal projects/goals! Loving your content!!
Aw callilla 🥺 that is so nice of you to say. Thanks so much for the comment ♥️
Thank you for adding these tips! Totally agree with you about values and digital goal planning is a great way to draft.
Thanks.
This. Makes me so happy. I'm so glad you felt seen by this video and got something out of it. Thank you so much for sharing. ❤
One of your best systems and advice! Loved this. Thank you!
One of the BEST videos I have seen on goal setting/planning. The planning system/process part of it is what I needed help with! Thanks!!
Omg Adriana I'm SO happy you liked it!! Thank you for commenting :)
Agree with your strategy to do it separate from the planner. This is really fantastic, meaty content. I love the beautiful deco vids too, but process videos are definitely few and far between on the PlannerTubes lately and your channel is an excellent add. ❤ Subscribing.
Thank you so much Tracy and welcome to the fam
This is pretty helpful for me. I wrote down all my goals for like my entire life (roughly) and have been just staring at all them wondering where to even start. I went back and consolidated them because a lot of them overlapped but I didn't think of prioritizing them or just choosing a few for a each year. And these are all things that have like multiple parts too, so I was really stressing out lol
Im glad this could help ♥️♥️ i totally relate to that feeling!
I absolutely appreciate your ability to break this down. Absolutely love it
Flylady shared the idea of using page protectors and handwritten routines tucked into them and dry erase markers to check off what has been accomplished. Easy to wipe off each day (or week, etc.) , only one piece of paper 'sacrificed' if you make a major change to the list. Eventually, you can create pretty pages that are truly customized to you, to the season of year or the season of life that you are in.
I love this tip!
Of course, glad you liked it
This video has been the best thing I've seen in a long time and ITS EXACTLY what I needed. THANK YOU
Oh my gosh im SO glad
Thank you so much for commenting
Thank you for this inspiring video. I think I need to watch again. At first it is a lot to take in but I did what you did by adding goals without taking the every day necessities in mind. I will now start over. Blessings
Thank you for watching, glad it helped
Quarterly is the WAY to asses, for sure.
Great video! video. Goals have always been a problem for me. This video helped so much. Many blessings.
Omg!! Thank you so much for commenting, I love watching your videos! I'm super glad that you found this useful :)
This was super helpful! I am using the Companion Notebooks from the MakseLife system AND the Sterling Ink Common Planner and have been stressing about my goals. This was a blessing! Thank you so much!
You are so welcome Joanna!!
Drafting is brilliant, thank you!!
I'm so glad it could help!!!
it's the best content for setting my goals for new year in Iran
Thank you! Realistic❤
The process may seem overwhelming - but it made perfect sense to me! 🥰Thank you for showing your process, I just had a not-so-pretty notebook out for just this purpose before watching the video 😅
I LOVED this! It was SO helpful! Thanks!
Oh my gosh! You are so good at this! I feel like I’m going to need some adult supervision to navigate this process😂 But this is exactly what i was looking for!!
Love that you show and interact with the paper and it’s not you just talking to the camera!
You're somehow helping me less anxious in my goal planning. Thank you. I'm gonna take my time bc it's my life and time. Happy New Year!
HECK yeah it's your life and time. You take it at your own pace. Love this for you and TY for watching and commenting!
biggest tip, learning who creates energy and true growth in conversations and ask them for help
I really liked this video. I will be using a few if your tips in the coming week to narrow down my goals. Thank you for sharing!
I'm so glad ♥️
Omg this changes EVERYTHING! I just realized when I'm studying at university I tend to fail more with my goals. And that's because I don't have enough time to accomplish the one hundred goals I settled when I'm on holidays. Thank to your video now I'm going to pay attention on the amount of time I spend doing tasks I need to "function as a human being" and THEN set my goals 🥺💕
Yay Mary I’m so glad this could help you ♥️
wow, this is like,,,,, exactly what I needed. I've never set goals before because I never knew how to start. even if I don't follow this exactly, it really helps to see what the thought process was in such detail. really helped my adhd brain
Thank you Kendra!! It’s all about sharing the experience so we can succeed together:)
I found the idea of the one time actions and the Level 10 Life very helpful 👻
excellent video! truly appreciate your honesty regarding personal goal setting, reflection, and time management! i love the aesthetics of pretty planners & the smell of a fresh new notebook, but the most important thing is how it's used! thank you for sharing your process - subscribed :)
Thank you!!! Glad you liked it and welcome to the fam
Great explanation, I'm learning about how to split my goals in baby steps but I don't know very well how to do it😊thanks so much!
I love the realness of this. Thank you!
Thank you Leah
Thank you for this video! It's so fun to see your goal worksheets! :)
Thank you Rachelle! You helped me a lot to think more realistically about my goals for the year
I'm so glad 😌
This is very helpful, my daughter and I are goal setting by following you. Thanks for making this video!
Aw Anne 🥺 I'm so honored.
i found this incredibly helpful. thank you
Love this! Thanks for the reminder to be reaslistic. So you can actually meet your goal.
Yes exactly!!
Love this video. I thought that I was the only one who did multiple drafts before settling on the final one.
AHHHH love this thanks!! def was fearing that goals spread in my common planner. probably mostly cause im a procrastinator tho lol
This is so helpful. Thank you so much!💗
This was so very helpful!
February is A-OK in my opinion 😂
It was helpful 😊
Lifehack: If you watch this on your phone you can zoom in and set the quality of the video to the highest 😀
thank you so much! i need this
Something I try to keep in mind when I goal set is that the goals are an ideal, they are what we would like to get out of the coming year but sometimes things happen.
This so much ♥️♥️
Thank you darling this is so helpful and human 💗 relateability a 10
Loved this... thank you so much
Loved this 🤍
Thank you so much for posting this! I've watched it all the way through multiple times now and I'm already seeing how much I was overwhelming myself with my goals.
I'm so glad that it is helping!
Thank you for sharing!
oh, this is perfect! ... i have some work to do. lol
Thanks Rachelle! This was an eye-opening way to approach goal setting and really get into analyzing whether something is a goal to achieve or if it's just a habit you want to start. And, whether you're being realistic with your time and setting too many goals. Really helpful!
Thanks Lisa I’m glad you liked it!
My goodness this is fantastic.
Thank you Caylee!!
Very helpful. Thank you!
Honestly the thought of going through this much extra work gives me more anxiety than just goal setting in my goal setting notebook. I agree that you should brainstorm beforehand, but the thought of going through that many drafts is overwhelming
that's cool! do you
I’m so happy I found this channel 🥲🖤 my current planning method was getting super stale, and my monthly spreads are always bloated with goals that I never complete 🥲🥲🥲
so writing them down ahead of time and then breaking then down (and maybe again) is so useful and actionable for my adhd brain 😂
We are lucky you are here ❤ 😊 💙 😀 💖
I'd like to honor your process by calling the draft something special, like ''initial planning'' or ''plan development'' or ''big picture evaluation.'' Some call it ''pre-planning.''
@@RachelleinTheory yayyyy, thank you so much! I’ll make sure to tag you on insta and give you all the credit you deserve. 💜
This really helped me thank you so much ❤️
I’m so glad Ellen ♥️
My goal is to survive while studying and working at the same time 😅
Really useful. Thank you .
so useful!! i'm 62 and just learned last year that people make goals and I have such a hard time writing something down! Are you an enneagram 5??? so i have made significant progress in my mental health and spiritual growth in the last 2 decades and i retire in 5 years. i want to learn how to be self-motivating AND to know what staying active in my profession is going to look like. thanks so much!
You are welcome! I don't know if I'm an ennegram 5, I think I've taken the test a couple times but always forget 😅
