LES TROYENS is in two parts. What is heard here is from the second one which takes place in Carthage but with a big cut in the Love duet between Dido & Aaneas. This may be the entire second part of the opera although I am not certain.

Actually, it is a 5-act opera. The first two acts are set in Troy and the last three in Carthage. When the opera is divided into two parts, this is how it is split. But the recording here includes music from both Acts I and II, the first 25 minutes or so. A high percentage of both Acts is cut, but something remains.

This is not the complete opera.

Of course it's not. But it was all that was performed after uncountable cuts, hence it is labelled complete (as in a complete recording of the performance).

@@BestOperaMoments I can't believe this is the complete performance. Peter Glossop is listed as the Chorèbe. Would he have come to San Francisco if ALL of his Act I and Act II music were cut-- virtually the entire role? And while Enée does have important music in the later acts, I don't think Vickers would give up all his Act I and II music.
