  • ( www.brightonFordCo.com ) While trucks have definitely gotten more expensive over the years, we didn't just want to keep harping on the $100K-level trucks folks rarely buy anyway. What good deals are out there? Andre and Roman cover several local-area dealers around Denver to see which has the best deals on new full-size (half-ton) trucks!

Great video! Loved the focus on more “affordable” trucks. I am buying at the end of 2024. I am leaning midsize with a max budget of $45,000 plus/minus $2,500. Given that we tow a small 2,900 lb camper and haul camping gear, we will cross shop base trim 1/2 ton 4WD trucks as well.

@@dmo848 I am a Frontier fan with lots to like about the truck. Unfortunately, the Frontier tends to have less payload than I would want for my needs. I would like about 1,500 lbs of payload and most Frontiers that I have seen are averaging 1,100 to 1,300 lbs (at best).

No data to back it up, but I think there is a smaller percentage of people making the average salary now than there were in 1980.
In 1980 I also don't think Americans viewed a daily cup of $6 starbucks as a necessity or spent $10 on a McDonalds combo for lunch 4 times a week. The Ford Maverick is a very affordable truck. The Maverick can carry many different things from dirt bikes, snowblowers, refrigerators, kayaks, loam/dirt/bark mulch. It can tow a 5x8 trailer and that is enough for my occasional junk removal that I have to do. I highly recommend the Ford Maverick to anyone that is thinking about buying it. I have driven mine 45,000 Miles and it drives amazing, the steering is like non other. The low bed height is also another amazing perk when loading heavy things. I mostly use it to transport my E-Bike which is around 70 Pounds and I am very glad that the bed is low when loading and unloading. It is also the hybrid, I average 39 MPG. For $23,000 after my options and all add on fees people can not believe how much truck you get for such little money. I also drive my truck in three New England winters and I have not gotten stuck yet with FWD, I currently have Firestone Destination LE/3 Tires on it. In 1991, I bought a new Isuzu base pick-up truck for $5,999 plus 6.5% tax, as advertised by the dealer in the newspaper. I visited the dealership at 9 am as it opened and presented a copy of the ad to the General Manager. The GM was not happy that I paid in small bills that I had saved from about three years' worth of tips. I chose the Isuzu over the Toyota because the latter had a vinyl seat, a 5-speed manual transmission instead of the 4-speed in the Toyota, and air conditioning was an additional $800 on the Toyota, and I did not want the dealer aftermarket A/C. Additionally, I was hesitant about having a car payment, and as a 21-year-old, I couldn't afford full coverage insurance. I still miss that truck to this day.

We struggled to pay $650 per mo for 5 years with $5k down in the competitive market of 2019, for a sales price of $35k for a carefully equipped mid-range 4wd crew cab.
Today that same vehicle is an impossible $1100 per month, while the dealer/manufacturers profit margin has expanded from ~$6k to ~$20k.
I'm sitting it out for a few more years. Competition and over supply will return again as market forces return. At that point end year sales prices will approach at least $10k -$15k less than where they are today.
    Thanks. But No thanks.
Doesn't mean that much to me. $60k in my pocket is worth much, much more than a new modest truck in my driveway. Lord, needed to earn $100,000 to put it there! Work a full year for a truck?

I recently added a used snug top. Wish I had got it sooner. I'm a fan of 4 cyl big piston engines for torque. I think they sound better than a small V8. Big pistons make a big bang. I like watching many of your videos especially covering the less equipped trucks. My 2005 GMC with 5.3 without valve and lifter troubles gets a solid 20 mpg on highway. Burns no oil. Has 122K miles. Base model truck should start at $30,000 2WD, $34,000 4WD. If 4 doors is added $34,000 2WD, $38,000 4WD across ALL truck manufacturers.

i got a 2022 f150XL supercab, 5.0L V8, 6 1/2' bed, 4x4, white color -- out the door price of 38,000 with 4 years of free oil changes (2 oil changes per year), 1 free tire rotation for 4 years. you're damn right i got a deal.. this was in december of 2023.. apparently it was the last 2022 on the lot in the state of TX with 200 miles on it in December of 2023.. so the dealer gave me a hell of a deal to get it off their hands.. I'm very happy with the truck and the purchase.. minimum for ford trucks now is at the $50,000 range for 4x4's.. and the 5.0L V8 coyote engine sounds mean as hell when you press the gas with amazing pickup for passing

So you were willing to buy a 2 year old new truck to get a great deal. Good on you and I think very smart but many people wouldn’t do it. You know value when you see it. Lots of people don’t/can’t.

    • @ep9691
      @ep9691 Місяць тому

@@tinymission7821 i meant this truck had 20 miles (not 200) when i bought it off the lot.. of course i bought the truck, i was in need a new truck and this truck went on sale that day.. I was lucky enough to get there first during the morning when the dealership opened and they posted the sale in the paper and online. i'm 100% sure that this truck would've been bought the same day especially with the prices on new vehicles today. I normally keep my trucks 10 years and my last F150 had ecoboost which both broke during my 10 years of ownership.. I'm glad to be rid of the ecoboost and now will see how good the coyote engine will be. so far i love it. 😄

The irony of dealerships charging "handling" fees when the public will just obsolete them by moving to direct sales is undeniable.

I'd like to see the cheapest used trucks but current models. I got my 21 ram bighorn BTS for 35k with 8000 miles and way more options than that new tradesman

In 2006 I bought a brand new Toyota Tundra Double Cab SR5 (when double cab was their biggest), 2wd, heated leather seats, sunroof, few other niceties. Sticker was 33k, bought it was 25k. Had 1 mile on it when I test drove it. It's wild how much trucks have gone up.

Just bought a 2021 Titan Platinum Reserve 4x4 with 25k miles & fully loaded for $41k. Buying new is ridiculous. I will own this truck for the next 15 years the way the truck market is going.

I picked up a manual 1998 Toyota T100 for $4k a few years ago. It’s cheap and infinitely more reliable than any modern truck. I turned it into an off road toy for less than a side by side 😊

These affordable trucks cost more then most people make in a year. I bought one new truck in 2021 and I will never by a new vehicle again. I don't understand how so many people are ok with having a $1000/month payment on something that absolutely tanks in value.

I bought my 22 Ram 1500 2wd Bighorn quad cab with the 5.7 out the door for 34k after incentives, and it's the newer body, not the classic. It's all about the time of the year and getting every incentive possible. Forget the advertised price.

I found a 2011 GMC Canyon for $10k. Just has sensor issues. camshaft position, tpms, ... electric windows cruise control. extended with 6 foot bed Trucks now cost more than many people's salary. I like the deal I found so far.

What about the cheapest Nissan frontier 4 x 4. On the Nissan website you can configure a 4x4 frontier for 35k. When you factor in the equipped 4 x 4 low gear and the fact that it has a towing capacity of over 6000 pounds, I think that this is the best buy for a truck, better than the Maverick.

lol yeah i kind of see it. It's also funny how Ford and their fanboys mocked the stacked headlight look for years when it was a key styling point of GM trucks, but now that Ford can't help but put stacked headlights on all their trucks, it's no longer mocked.
