As a writer I expected that Kojima knows we as a Race despite technology have become disconnected while playing Death Stranding and the whole game is like one big social commentary in that regard. The Japanese from my experience are masters at metaphorical symbolic story telling. Through death stranding he has said we need to actually reconnect and belong as a Race. Maybe it's me being a sucker for the theme of belonging in media but it also shows that Kojima is a very compassionate soul and that emanates throughout the game's world. This is fantastic. I've watched gameplay videos and reviews for this game, but this interview actually explores the philosophy and the relevance of this game. Rob's questions urged Hideo to speak about the beauty of this game.

Wow. Everything he said was SO insightful, it blows my mind..."everyone's carrying a weight, you just can't see it"...And I could tell from the very first second that Rob was super excited to be there!! That must have felt amazing. You asked absolutely fantastic questions!! I've seen a few playthroughs of the game so far and I am UTTERLY FLOORED by the story and world-building. I freaking love it. This video alone is making me consider buying the game--not to play it, for I must admit the gameplay isn't my thing, although I GREATLY admire and am awed by all the thought that went into it--but for the joy of owning such a great story in my PS4 collection. The story and world is so good that tomorrow I am going to spend several hours journaling about it in my story notebook!!

I love every single idea Kojima had with this game, some of them I didn't even fully consider until watching this interview (such as when he talks about how online deliveries in the real world are still carried out by actual people working hard to make sure the rest of our lives can be a little more convenient). His work has always had something important to say about the world we live in, and Death Stranding is a masterpiece of commentary that will have even more to say about our world as time goes on, much like MGS2.

Kojima is gaming‘s Spielberg. Very devoted to his work, always trying to do something different, with an almost child-like enthusiasm for his games and I don’t think he is anywhere near as narcissistic as people make him put to be. He‘s just quirky and selling his name as a seal of approval. You can’t deny that „A Hideo Kojima Game“ evokes a very specific set of associations: story driven, well designed gameplay, lots of player freedom, 4th wall breaking quirkiness and creepiness, using sexuality in humorous ways, teaching you about something fundamental to the human condition...

You want to know a little more about what Death Stranding is about.. well here it is. Sam is a Ghost seeing specialist trying to reconnect America. He has to travel though magnificent beautiful, but dangerous country while facing the most scariest enemy I've ever seen before. The game makes you feel like you are really there! Anyone calling this game a mailman simulator is an idiot. This game is more like the legendary Pony Express. I've been amazed by what these young cowboys accomplished for years and they have always been my heroes because of all the near impossible obstacles, weather and robbers they had to face ALL BY THEIR LONESOME out on the trail. Fact is... our daily lives would be complete boredom to a member of the Pony Express. Death Stranding is different from any other game and I'm absolutely loving it! It's a game about helping others and actually the first game that makes me feel like I'm a part of something bigger than myself. In my opinion... it makes other games look like Dookey.... except for Red Dead of course 😉
