I tried both and I think I prefer the Ride 17. The fit is a bit roomier for me whereas the Triumph 21 is a bit snug. I also think that the Ride 17 feels a bit more stable with more controlled cushioning, probably because it has a bit wider base. The differences are not huge though.
@@Gustavo-x8f3q i liked the Ride 17 a lot but ultimately I purchased the Triumph 20 in all-black. It does not feel as good walking as the Ride 17 but it feels bouncy and energetic running. If your top concern is stability you made the right choice with the Ride 17. It’s more stable for sure, no question about it, and a better feeling shoe for walking too.
@@iakona23 thank you. I was about to exchange the Ride 17s for the ASICS GT2000s but the Ride 17s are stable enough so I kept them. I might try the Triumphs to add to the shoe rotation too
@@Gustavo-x8f3q yes same great midsole as the Triump 20-21 but more stable (especially in the heel) at the cost of being less bouncy and with less energy return.
@@Gustavo-x8f3q I think it’s good to have a variety of shoes that you enjoy running in, all the way from minimally cushioned to something like the Triumph. And when you are just walking, try a barefoot style shoe like the Vivobarefoot. It all helps to build foot strength so that injuries are less likely.
Picked up the Triumph 20 a few months back on sale at Running Warehouse for $70 USD. So far I love it. Looking forward to the Triumph 22 (or maybe the Ride 17) when I’m done with the 20’s.
I’m late to this review. But just want to say, as a busy dad, I loved the style of your review. You left the viewer with direction. That’s rare. You also sped up the audio which gave me some time back in my day. Highly appreciative. I liked and subscribed. Well done.
I've run in a lot of shoes over the years, but in the end, I keep putting the most miles in the Triumph series since the 17 and the 21 is following the same pattern. Can't wait to try the 22 with the PB midsole. Unless the upper takes a step back, that might be the perfect daily trainer.
I put over 1000km in the triumph 20. Absolutely loved it and can’t decide between the ride 17 and triumph 21🤷♂️ this is the video I needed. Thank you!!!!
For anyone that's wondering: I have done 500 km on Ride 17's, and have no significant wear on them. I've had no isssues with the fabric eyelets or lacing them in general. I just bought 2 more pairs on clearance as they work really well for me as a daily trainer. (I cannot compare to Triumph 21 as I have never owned them)
little warning - i'm a consistent Saucony user but i bought the Speed 3 online and it was much shorter in length. I'm always a US Mens 10 and it fit more like a 9 - 9.5. Apparently the fit is different for the Speed range...but they felt no reason to update sizing or even state it on the prodcut page :(
VERY interesting, thanks guys!! Kieran’s side-by-side comparison is a REAL surprise!! The Ride also has a lower drop, right? I guess that wasn’t noticeable then! 🙏🏻🏃🏻♀️🙏🏻
Sad to see the Ride gaining weight. Didn’t realize the Triumph was lighter than the Ride 17 now. Ride’s have been a real go-to for daily miles the past few years though.
Pretty satisfied with my T20s after 400k. The T22 is gonna update the midsole to PWRRUN PB next year so I'm curious how that will change the ride of the Triumph.
Been waiting for this review! Seems some conflicting views on which is the faster/more responsive! Would the Ride be better for wide feet from what you said on fit?
I liked the Ride 14 a lot, but the midsole has zero pop after 300 miles. It’s still in great nick, though. Very little wear on the sole and definitely no broken lace holes.
I have the Triumph 20 and 21 and Ride 16. Ride 16 is terrible.. Triumph 20 and 21 amazing. Ride 17 sounds good. Definitely waiting for the PB in the Triumph 22 🎉
I am looking to replace my Hoka Mach 5, as they dont feel as good anymore because of heavy use. I want a similar kind of shoe and I mostly like to pick up the pace, run shorter distances and fast intervals. There are too many options and my head is confused with all the new categories of shoes right now. Any good alternatives and suggestions? Love this channel so much!
I just can’t get my head around the foam in the triumph 20. It’s so unstable and the narrow midfoot really messed up my ankles because I found them so unstable. If the foam is the same in the ride I think I will have to avoid it.
Think the Triumph sounds better for me with more bounce and good for longer distances so it’s extremely frustrating only Ride comes in 2E wide in UK. No idea why Triumph doesn’t have wide option 😢
Not yet. The colour way I want is out of stock. I'm tempted to try the wide version of the Ride 17s. The triumphs seem to have more cushioning but I fear the heel-toe offset a bit too much. If I commit I'll message you back. @@ge0fff

@@andrewwhyte3979 thanks for recommending the nitros. They’re brilliant, very balanced, roomy and enough support. Hate the Nitro logo though, looks like Netto 😂
@@ge0fff I went for the Puma Magnify Nitro 2, they’re great. I’ll be getting some endorphin speeds when I lose enough weight to push for PBs. Let me know what you went/go for.
The Triumph 21 in white is currently on offer on the Saucony website making it cheaper than the Ride 17. I think I shall be getting make cash card out tomorrow morning. 🎉
Good review. I want to pick up Ride 17 when it launches. But I'm concerned about the eyelet lacing. Nick, I'm curious about how you got around the broken eyelet.
Kieran liked the ride 14, then he didn't like the 15 because it got softer, then the 17 got even softer and he likes it now. He said he likes firm, but now he likes soft
Just purchased the triumph 21 feels amazing effortless

At this point the bargain might be Triumph 20 again, however it’d also be perfectly reasonable to want something new after all those miles.
Get the 21
I was going to pick up the Ride 17 but the fabric eyelets have me a bit concerned 🤔
Im in the same situation, can I ask what you ended up going for?

Ride 16 is not terrible. You're just spoiled by bouncy midsoles
Not a huge fan of the Ride 16 either. It's a lifeless shoe compared to the Triumph 20.
Just got the T21 for $150 NZD (£75). Feel great on step-in, looking forward to running in them after this weekend's marathon.

It's a wider midfoot area in the 17. He pointed it out like 2.5 min into the video
J’avais la Triumph 20, je l’ai revendu, je trouvais la mousse trop ferme. J’attends la Triumph 22 pour voir.

How is the width of the 2 shoes compared to Endorphin speed 3? Just bought the Speed 3 and had to return it because it was to narrow on my right foot…
Which one is a good choice for walking? I have plantar fascitis.
Any larger runners on here? Stuck between the two. I had Ride 15s but they’ve had their time. Had shin splints quite a lot.
