Feedback: Consider maybe leave the chart on the screen behind you for the duration of the video instead of just at the end. But very enjoyable video either way
Thank you for this comment - I skipped all the way to the summary table. But fear not Alex, for I have skipped to specific sections of interest later and still got the midroll ads.
@@MattIncognito I just started running 2 months ago and bought Sacouny's Ride 16 cuz it was cheap ($60) I then got addicted and bought 4 different shoes. I still find myself enjoying the 16s because it's just light, fairly cushioned and simple tbh.
More reviewers need to do this, it's really hard to compare all the models. Of course, different shoes appeal to different people but it can be useful. Like others have said, would be great to keep the list up for more of the video.
Hello Alex, congrats on the great video! And yes, please, if you could make a Tier list for the stability shoes it would be great! Best Regards from Brazil. Also, maybe you missed the Skechers Ride 11?
Great video! You packed a lot of information in here and I really appreciate it. For people like myself, with a show size larger than they typically carry in stores, these kinds of videos are extremely helpful.
Thanks, very useful and agree with you for most of the shoes I’ve tested. The only one I quite like and you don’t really is the Surfer (I would have switch it with the Eclipse).
Nice video. I run in both the Cloudsurfer and 1080 v13. Your comment about the Surfer being squeaky is accurate for those older colors, although many don’t experience the squeak; it’s been fixed if you get the new colors. I also find the Surfer upper to not breathe quite as well as the 1080. That said, if I could only keep one shoe it would be an easy choice-Surfer. Lighter, plusher, better looking…just an overall better ride
Agree with most of this although the more v4 definitely can’t do “every surface” lol. Sprained my ankle in those things bc they sucked so bad in wet conditions. 100% agree with you on the invincible 3 tho. It’s very unstable and a lot of people give it a pass on this. It’s super wobbly when you land on it. It’s a great travel shoe at least. I took it on vacation and used it to run in and walk around the city and it was perfect for that.
The More v4 Permafrost version has an outsole that rivals Puma grip (on the road). It was my goto (together with the Puma Deviate Nitro 2 WTR, and Velocity Nitro 2 GTX) during the 6 months of wet roads we have here in the Netherlands. It's so grippy, that you can hear and feel it rip over the pavement, I lovingly call it 'the Octopus'.
Great Video. I am really enjoying 1080v13 would say it a home run. If it had better breathabilty and a little bit more energy return it would be god tier...But one of the most comfortable shoes out there mostly for easy runs and walking.
Tier list for stability shoes yes please, but if possible add some focus to flat feet which is not necessarily in the same category, depending who you ask.
I would immediately put Saucony Ride 17 to Godtier and Cloudmonster (version 1) to runnable, borderline boring. One of the most energy sapping shoes I have run in. They feel good for the first 300km. Between 400-500 they start to rapidly lose their resilience and gradually turn into Clifton-like sand thanks to very specific midsole construction. I tend to research shoes and don't throw them prematurely, so I'm approaching 700km with aim to stop near 800km for investigation purposes (unless they collapse before).
Thank you for the video, i mostly agree with your review. i would have added the newbalance rebel v4 that is really soft and can be used as daily trainer. i am not really sure what people use as daily trainer, for me saucony endorphin speed 4 and hoka mach 6 are daily trainers :)
This list is based on a concept that's behind the times. Daily trainers are evolving into shoes that are also super trainers like the Speed 4, SC, Mach 6, Mach X, etc. Lots of shoes on here that nobody really uses.
i have to agree with invincible run 3, love the sneaker i run in it now, makes me want to run faster but every time i have laced that sneaker up its always a runners knot. heel slippage is terrible if you dont have the runners knot goin they need to fix that on next update and it could possibly be god tier.
The Skechers GoRun Ride 11 is a much better choice than the Max Road 6, so it's a shame that it got snubbed here. It has a softer & more springy midsole, less-intrusive arch, lighter weight, and lower price... a win across the board. As for this video, the execution could've been better by including a few seconds of footage with some strides in them, plus you could've kept a table with the shoes in their tiers on-screen throughout.
@@HMolly69 As long as you are a neutral runner and are not pushing the paces then , it will eat up the zone 1/2 stuff. But you need to be stable yourself, if you have supernation/ pronation then this will bite over an extended run. Alex is a bit taller & lighter then I am so might have a different take .
Hoka skyward X has to be the worse show I have ever owned! I’m a heavier and slower runner, and took this for one steady 5k run. I tried it on forefoot, midfoot and heel strike and it is so unstable. Both Achilles were in pain for a few days and both feet kept getting cramps for 24hrs after the run. Sold them on Vinted and noticed there were several others up for sale with the same description as mine. “Only run 5k, not for me” my Superblast, kinvaro pro and Boston 12’s are far superior.
This proves that our feet shape and pronation level is so individual! Watching few reviews is not helpful much. You have to try the thing (unfortunately) to tell the truth (your own true experience). ...and (what happens to me way to often) disqualify the product and at times, the review as well.
It’s a good question. They’re both soft you’re absolutely right. But the Nimbus is just draining a lot of energy out of me when the Skyward is also soft but keeps my running more efficient. That’s the difference in my opinion.

The 1080 used to be the king. The V10 being the best ever. V11 was almost as good. The V12 and V13 are significant downgrades and unfortunately New Balance have standardised, made boring and ruined both the 1080s and the Rebels. Got 2 pairs of pegs for the price of 1. They don't feel as exciting to run in as other shoes. But they are durable and comfortable. They are an excellent option especially if you nabbed them with the current sales. Probably not worth full price but I love mine
@@MattIncognitoactually I have a way different experience with the Pegasus but the Trail version! It seems to be soo much more soft & bouncy than regular Pegasus. Surprise 😮 My pair is v3 gtx so I use them all winter, and mostly on wet roads.
If he thinks the Nike Pegasus 40 has too much ground feel, I shudder to think how he would feel about the Altra Escalante 4. Remember, he hated a very similar shoe,Topo Cyclone 2. I lost it at CloudMonster GodTier. Worst shoe of all time. Stiff as hell, heavy, absolutely no energy return. An abomination especially at that price point !
Superblast is a lightweight upper with a high stack of super foam. Built for long runs and progression, ASICS built a “Novablast” for every day or the Cumulus for those with a classic bent.

Interesting to see 1080 so high considering you don’t fancy very soft shoes. I found it ridiculously soft, way too much so.
totally agreed, it was wayyyy to soft for my liking
I loved the 1080 since it’s not heavy
I think the more a person weighs the more useless 1080 becomes
Boring is actually the winning category.
I have to emphasize that it is not a bad category. For my preferences some other shoes are more exciting to log daily miles
Boring is the category that gets the job done for a reasonable price. That's all you should ever want in a daily trainer.
