Slovenia's Primoz Roglic had a sensational ride on his 44,2 km long way to winning the men's #cycling individual time trial gold medal in a time of 55:04.19 at the #Tokyo2020 Olympic Games. Rio 2016 silver medallist Tom Dumoulin of the Netherlands put in a big effort but had to settle for silver once again with his 56:05.58 while Australia's Rohan Dennis clinched bronze in 56:08.09.

Primož was truly superb! I love the fact that they had to slow him down at the finish line, because he would probably go for another lap, haha. I felt like this was a preworkout for him, he crushed it!

@@evanveal7043 the time starts when the bike's sensor passes the start line, they can technically leave whenever they want during the countdown, its just to keep riders with around 30 seconds between them

I have a Diverge without the rear STR component. I love the headset shock. It is so much more comfortable than a pure rigid. I ride 50/50 road / gravel … I opted away from the STR bc not needed for my use as I usually ride 25-40 miles on my rides. But if I were riding over 50 miles on gravel consistently I would have gone with an STR.

Love cylcling videos just what I need to get it going the blood I love it. I always watch these before I go out and get my body moving. I always watch one of these, and then put up my heavy playlist like Delta Parole, Three Days Grace, System and then I just go haaaaard!!!! Tactic hasnt let me down yet.

Hi to me the arm elbow rests on the aerobars look really high when compared to past years. Is this because the base bar maybe lower ? Thanks.
Correct, Pro riders often go for smaller frames in order to get more aerodynamic on the bike. Also many aerobars are angled these days, allowing the rider to get into the "praying mantis" position. This way then can tuck their head more behind their arms.

Control of the front wheel. If they had two discs it would be impossible to control them and would make it super dangerous in high winds.

It's high time they allowed marathon runners to compete using zimmer frames on wheels so they can bend down and be more aerodynamic. Running marathons is just too easy and comfortable at the moment. Sure, the people winning the races of the future might not be such talented runners but that is a small price to pay so that spectators can watch the athletes suffering a bit more.

Compared to the world record hour, 10 kilometers short. The difference between track and road time trial?
There was 745 m of altitude gain, world hour record is set on (more or less) 0 m.
840m of climbing, and 840m of descending too, start and finish same elevation. I found it interesting how different road an track was in time/distance. 10k is a lot of difference. Hills matter, wind direction matters, selection of gears matters, wind speed, humidity, temperature, elevation, still 10k is a huge difference.
@@WildernessMusic_GentleSerene Of course there are other factors, but by far the biggest difference is the altitude gain - 800 m of gain is equal to a 10 km long 8% climb (if that gives any perspective). 2016 world champs ITT (in Doha, at 40 degrees Centigrade and higher) was won by Tony Martin riding at an average speed of 53.7 km/h for 45 minutes (which is pretty similar in power output one can maintain for an hour).
@@WildernessMusic_GentleSerene the difference is also between rider types. watch from 2:50:00 to 2:56:00 . Roglic who won by 1 minute total was passed twice by Asgreen during that phase just because the terrain fit Asgreen way more, as soon as terrain changed Roglic easily regained the lead (commentators at the beginning even thought something happened to Roglic when Asgreen passed him)... That being said Roglic on the flat is way slower than top specialist who go for world record, but he gains all the edge on climbs, where flat specialists struggle and lose way more. Asgreen at the end lost almost 2 minutes.
@@WildernessMusic_GentleSerene in the track you have the fastest bike, no wind and no elevation gain. if you climb a hill and you do descend you will still be slower than not climbing
