There are several companies that make a steel braided drain hose set up with a tapered seat plug away from the engine, no heet cycling, no fumbling next to a hot engine, etc. But they are proud on them . I really like the dry sump system on my ferris' mowers. But i do use the oil extractor on all the others.
Interesting. Neither of my Kawasaki engines have that part, it’s a metal plug (or in one case, it’s got a hose that ya unscrew the bottom part to quickly drain it).
Nope. I have sent used oil samples to the lab and the results are outstanding. Amsoil does not have little API sticker on it and its wonderful as well. The API is obtained after paying a huge license fee, nothing more.
@GwinnettLawns my dealer was wrong on that, stating it was a hustler part. My trimstar leaked slightly at that valve, too, and I switched to the hose style. So far, so good. Thanks for the info.
@@ericrebert1378 The only reason I knew it was a Kawi part is that I was at my Scag/Wright dealer and they replace those valves on LOTS of different mowers with the plugs.

happy to find out that all 5 of my kawasakis are old enough to still have the metal drain valves.
I've never heard of putting a magnet on filter ❤
I have also used a fluid evacuator for possibly 20 years. It is a Tempo brand and looks very similar to yours.
Awesome video as always..did you ever do the spindle rebuild video?
I haven’t done it yet. I do have the bearings for it but with so much going on with all these cleanups it’s hard to find time to do anything now.
The oil change makes all the difference!
I agree, and with how expensive the engines are these days, it’s just a wise thing to do
Can you provide the Wix oil filter part number? Thanks!
amzn.to/3XPnzj2 Here is where I bought them.

👍👍
Do you think it would be ok to switch to synthetic in and older kawasaki engine with a lot of hours? Thanks for taking the time to make this video.
Absolutely you can go switch back-and-forth engine doesn’t care.
thank you@@GwinnettLawns
Kawasaki is high grade oil
Not concerned the Valvoline VR1 Synthetic does not carry an API rating?

Any truth that you must use Kawasaki oil and filters while engine is under warranty?
Nope
I've been running Amsoil 15W-50 Synthetic Small Engine Oil.
Have you tried it? Supposed to have high zinc additives.
Its super oil but I have not tried it yet.
How long did it take to get the oil extracted
Takes about 90 seconds.
That valves a Hustler part, not a kawasaki part. Hustler cheaped out when they switched them to plastic.
Genuine Kawasaki 49116-0714 Oil Drain Valve Assy. Nope, its a Kawi part and is used on many other mowers. Above is the part number, check it out.
