Hi this is Russell with Gwinnett Lawns. I am a solo operator in North Georgia that primarily focuses on lawn maintenance. Since most of what is in this area consists of Bermuda and Fescue grasses, that's what I specialize in doing. My goal is to make customers lawns look the best in the neighborhood. I serve Gwinnett County with parts of Walton and Barrow as well.

Foolproof way to get RID of Yellow Jackets, Hornets and Wasp
how many hours on the trimstar now?. i had issues with the fs series kawasaki on my grandstand.
Approaching 1200 hrs soon.
I really want a stand and sell my scag sit down mower. I’m just up the street from you and I’m looking at the toro grandstand HDX 52 or the John Deere 54 q850r. I just love how John Deere will have a tech to you in 24 hr or get you another mower. This season I found out quick the importance of that having a main mower go down
Loctite.
Those gold blades have been insane (in a good way) to work with. Thanks for the recommendation!
That's what I'll be doing today before the rain comes in.
I have two leaf cleanup today 11/17 and another two next week
A little Shute blocker action!
For the price we pay, these mowers have so many issues. Had my HRX for 6 months then the transmission lags, gas flies out of my muffler, and air filter, its a nightmare. It works and cuts good but man $1100 for $700 issues. Sucks.
I love my Echo equipment, but my experience with the Echo Black Dimaond trimmer line was not great - it kept getting caught up on itself in the trimmer head and wouldn't feed when I bumped the head. I had to open the trimmer head everytime it happened so I switched to Oregon Magnum Gatorline Round and it's silky smooth and has never had a problem feeding. I use .095. Seems to last longer than the Black Diamond for me. I'm curious if anyone else has experienced the same problem as me because it seems like many people love the Black Diamond. Maybe its just me? 😂
.095 Echo Black Diamond is all I use
This was my 24th year owning a landscaping company. I sold my company in Tampa, FL I'm January of 23. I started a new landscaping company in Tennessee last April, after most folks already had their service provider lined up, therefore, I'm still in aggressive growth mode.
Kawasaki 921v just came to mind sorry bad on fuel unlike the Vanguard is very good on fuel can't go wrong with either
Bad Boy or Toro buy dealer service first Bad Boy is great for the money Kawasaki 31 or 35 carbureted is king Vanguard 32 or 36 carbureted is great too l have a 32 Vanguard Toro uses Tuff torque like John Deere great transmissions I've had 7 easy maintenance
Do you still recommend the edge it pro ? I looked on their website and they don't show one that would fit my trimmer which is a Husqvara 525lst.
Absolutely they are awesome. Unfortunately, they won't fit the Huskys as the way they would have to attach would not work well. You might want to give Edgit a call and ask when they will have them. I heard they were working on one for the Huskys.
Couple of things I do differently, firstly on a 525lst It has a second screw on the opposite side of the gear head to where your filling it and you open this screw when filling and all the old grease comes out while filling from other side till you see new grease come out then stop. Secondly gear heads that do not have the second bleeder screw, I fill the gear head with it off the shaft the opposite to what is in this video, why because then excess grease comes out the hole where the drive shaft goes in, that in effect becomes the bleeder so you keep filling till new grease comes out then stop and clean up any excess old and new grease then reassemble.
I will have to try that!
What height are you cutting those grasses at when you say low?
Between 1.75-2.5 inches depending on the grass variety.
Were you drinking when you did this one? lol
lol nope Don’t drink just acting goofy .
Picked up a new HRX217HYA last week and the serials are now way outta range of the recall. Yes it was hard to find. Honda isn't out of the push mower game, the 2025 models will be only battery powered and they can keep that BS.
What are you cutting your lawns at?
Between 2 - 2.5 depending on grass type.
Good quality!
Thanks!
I started with echo black diamond .095 then decided to experience with other lines because it doesn't last long i try many... nothing came close to the black diamond now im using the .105 wish they made it more durable but that would cut thier profits 😄
I use the .105 black diamond line with the speed feed 500
Echo just upgraded the plastics in the speedfeed 500 due to the heads melting the smaller lines by the way
For Thanksgiving, I take half a day off on Wednesday and then I'm off on Thursday/Friday. For Christmas, I'm off all week. I have some drainage jobs on the books for early December. They should be completed before the fifteenth allowing me to be off from mid December to mid February except for a couple of days in January/February to visit commercial accounts and now debris out of the parking lots
currently using the black diamond, 103 and it is working well in my speedfeed.. Have you tried to run the LN 130 in a speedfeed 400?
No first thing I always do with a trimmer is take off the 400 and put on a 450.
I own a Scag V ride 2 48in and a Grandstand 36in. Both mowers cut extremely well. The difference though for me is that with the Scag I feel as though I'm standing in the mower. With the Grandstand I feel like I'm standing behind the mower. For some people that's a better feel but for me I like the feel of the Scag better.
Bobcat dealer in covington GA
I like the Ferris Z3X
@@lawncommander great mower too!
Reach out to Spencer Lawn care they use only grand stands. They have all kind of attachments you can put on them. The blower and bagger attachments are nice.
I went to a 37hp Briggs on a Ferris Z3x 72" from a 25hp Kawasaki on a Great Dane 61". No complaints with the Ferris. It's a monster. Seems to have the same fuel consumption going from the carbureted to the injected. 500hr oil change on the Brigggs oil guard engine.
Toro is exmark toro owns exmark and as far as knowledge on toro grandstand ask the Spencer’s Spencer lawn care
Is there no Bobcat dealerships down there? Fine machines and affordable
I’m not a huge fan of the Grandstand to be honest. The cut is phenomenal and I was tempted to buy one for that alone. However, the reason I don’t like them is the levers. I do not like that the kill switch safety is in the levers. You have to constantly hold down one of the levers in order to keep the blades on. Now, it’s not hard to keep them down. It’s not like they’re fighting against you but I just feel like it’s super unnatural to be holding it down while trying to keep it straight or turn. I demoed a 60” so neither a 48” or a 52” like you mentioned but I would think it’s the same. My opinion is I don’t like the grandstand because of the levers. I do love the cut that it leaves though. I ended up buying a Gen 3 52” Wright ZK and I don’t think I’ll ever look back! I love to quad handles, I love that the safety is in the platform, I love the cut, I love tue build quality. It’s just a phenomenal mower all around!
Great video!, Yeah, I never really understood the buying of things just to get the deduction
Get the Scag Vride XL with 40hp Vanguard, tons of accessories.. Best tool in the tool box when you need it
inexperience incompetence desolation death lies like you
I have to work at ramp rat ATL
Come on Russ, you got to keep it moving!
We're winding down up here in Tennessee aswell. There's still a few leaves hanging around and the recent showers has greened things up abit. I'll do a few cleanups this week but a few customers are wanting me to wait till just before Thanksgiving. I've got one mulch job I could do but she said we could wait till spring if I wanted. After the leaves are gone I will focus on cleaning up our farm. I have lots of trees and scrub brush that needs cutting. I may go rent a dozer. I'm retired so my time is flexible. As far as mowers go have you tried any Ferris stand ons? I love mine. I run the z2 -52" and a 72" for the super big jobs. I also run Dixie Choppers.
You can't beat the deal and everything you get with the commercial Bad Boy mowers. That is going to be my next mower. Check out the Maverick HD bad boy.
Hey man, I cut in Conyers and covington GA areas. We do 2 times a month through December and once a month in January and February.
For Thanksgiving Ive just decided that I am going to leave Seattle and come out to Atlanta/Gwinnett county and help you! As a small, new single operator business, I am now just about out of customers until Spring. I am hoping to expand from my 7 regular customers before spring, and would love to chat with you about how to do that. I am in Seattle and service the higher end customers, and love to concentrate on turf maintenance as well. Every bid I have given since starting (Aug2024) I was hired and completed a few very large jobs. It is a bit scary knowing I will have no real business income starting in December. If you need a Veteran, hard working intern let me know!
Im in Gwinnett. Dont have plans yet for the holidays. I do my own mowing and cleaning of the yard. I need a riding mower but havent bought one yet. I just found you on here. Your in my neck of the woods. I bought my Snapper riding mower years ago from Ace hardware at Five Forks. Ive shopped at Sowsby before.
🤜🤛
I work all the way until the week before Thanksgiving and switch everyone over to monthly at that point. So I take the whole week off for Thanksgiving, and Christmas as well and chill with the fam. I'm just wondering when the grass will go completely dormant this year cuz the weather has been so bipolar.
I work up to Thanksgiving. After that, I am dead until March. In Missouri.
Yes, less dust! But not in a steady rain
Yup, been dealing with the same weather as you down here in Newnan! All of my customers (bermuda) yards are still growing too.
That mower makes leaves dissappear. Is that a mulch kit with ripper blades or just ripper blades with the chute blocked
No mulch kit, only ripper blades and chute blocker.
i have been but dont like it. the issue i have is mulch blades dont have enough lift to pull up wet leaves stuck to the ground so it doesnt get all the leaves chopped up.
but i dont cut as short as you so that makes a difference to.
Try the ballard gold hybrid blades as they are high lift. I will have my sets of them here tomorrow and will use them the rest of the leaf season. They are like a vacuum on steroids.
Thanks for the blade education I had a high lift for my personal fescue for my customer bermuda I need to put a ballard ripe blade I use a gater 5 blade for my leave mulch I have a 21 in bag mower
I was Ballard site so a rip blade is like a gator blade so can I use my gator for fescue and bermuda mulch with my 21 in bag mower
Also too I had a customer wanted me to blower them and pick them up instead of mulching them do you charge more or would you do it I did it but charged more
@@JohneyEnriquez If they want them picked up or removed, then they will have to find another company as I could not charge enough to make a profit.
