- Spring in Shanghai 🌷
This week I'm focusing on living the slow lifestyle in the big city and taking the time to smell the flowers. As spring approaches I visited the first farmers market of the season at Jiashan Market, visited some cute cafes downtown, and did some sketching.
Let me know in the comments, what is your favourite season?
As always, comment, like, and subscribe to show your support!
Thank you for watching! ❤️

Loved it!!! So calming and peaceful. I need to go to a market with you! ❤
Thank you! Yes we must, I think they are every month so could defo arrange something soon! ❤️
I think Shanghai is very suitable for you, because you know how to use everything this city has to offer to make your life more romantic and colorful.
Thank you, it feels like home, although I think I could feel at home in most places by trying new things and enjoying the natural beauty 🥰
For me the most romantic thing to do in Shanghai is to take a stroll with your partner along the meandering paths in the French Concession in a sunny winter afternoon and get lost together. When you finally find your way, kick up your weary feet and have a drink in one of the laidback rooftop lounges, overlooking the water. Your video just brings back those fond memories back in the day.
We did something very similar to this yesterday but I often don't film these kinds of strolls as the moments feel better left private 🥰
As same when I was there in the 80's. Still have very nice memories. Enjoy your special life when you are.
You make life so enjoyable.
Thank you ❤️❤️
I really like those cafe's and food places, they are so inviting. The more I see of Shanghai the better it looks.
There are so many beautiful cafes and restaurants (and parks, and, streets and...), I could explore forever!
Thanks for the lovely video. Love Shanghai
Thank you for watching ❤️
Thank you for your romantic vlog, it's inspirational to find romantic area & things in our own city!
Thank you for watching! ❤️
Haha, it's hard to take the busyness of Shanghai as the romance of Paris. . What a skill!
嘿嘿,硬是把上海的繁忙拍成巴黎的浪漫。。也是一绝!
What a life, what a life Natt the Brit! Just living it ALL up, ALL up Jolly mate!
😂😂 just trying to have a jolly good knees up 😅
@@ExpatNatt 😄 we call it having a relaxing day with my feet up, Brit. I also watched your home sickness VLOG, I am very sorry you had to go through that from time to time..., I do understand. Although I am a 4th generation American with a cocktail of Hun, Ainu, and East Asian bloods inside of me (we are usually taller, wider and bigger / thicker than the regular East Asians), but it's still quite difficult for us to get used to living in either China, Korea or Japan.... . There were no big games to hunt (we LOVE our firearms :)), no blue water fish to catch, no dirt bike cross country trails to break our arms / legs on, no horses to ride and no hot chicks to chase :). AND, AND the most painful thing was, for us anyway, just didn't how to communicate with the locals..., the most of them were just so polite, passive, quite and didn't tell you what's really going on in their little minds behind that smiley face.... , you really have to use a baseball bat to beat it out of them. Most dudes didn't play any contact sports, did not pump iron in the gym, quiet, thin / pale, shy, passive but wore fancy clothes :).
Is there any way you could purchase a condo or a little piece of property close to your parents, so you will be able to go back to visit with when you are on breaks?
Chili oil on ice cream? That's some hot ice cream!
I love going to jiashan market :). in the summer you can enjoy refreshing drinks and in the winter delicious mulled wine. :)
Oh yes the mulled wine 😍😍😍
Expensive teas (5:00) even by UK's cost of living standard. There are many rich people in Shanghai.
Yes, some places are expensive, however this was for a large tea pot with unlimited tea for both of us so not a bad price at all
it is really difficult to image a slow mode life, since Chineses people are too busy....love your video and wish the best!
Thank you for watching ❤️
You are talking about the 9-9-6 culture, yes? I wonder if this the norm there to work at this rate or its something that is only the norm for office salarymen?
@@stellades123 I work 9.5 hours a day so have absolutely no free time in the evenings as I try to go to sleep by 9:30 to make up for waking up so early. Plus with commuting, if you work a regular job in China your only free time is the weekend
Your video style and channel content remind me a lot of another UA-camr - New to Singapore (Amandine) - which I could recommend to you as she has a lot of cool ideas for making vlogs as an expat in Asia
love
Thank you ❤️
😍😍😍
❤️❤️
That Turkish food with cheese and lamb looked delicious--what's the name of that dish? Also, your artwork is amazing!
Honestly I can't remember but it was delicious. I will say it was around $23 though so not something I would order often 😅
this is chinese Western food
I am from Thailand , Do you like Thailand ? Welcome to Bangkok Thailand
Thank you for watching! I have been to Thailand a couple of times but not recently, I really hope to visit again soon, I loved Thailand ❤️
谢谢分享!比我在美国大农村生活幸福多了!
🥰🥰
Your videos and channel content remind me of another UA-camr channel (New to Singapore by Amandine) which I would recommend as it contains great ideas for vlogs about expat life in Asia
Ooh brilliant! I’ll check it out! ❤️
is the subway/metro/tube busy?
It really depend on where in the city you are and which time. When commuting into the city for work in the morning and out of the city in rush hour it is very busy, but many people will wait in orderly lines at the door until a more empty train comes along so they don't push and shove. This was a worry I had when I first moved to China as we have all seen videos of people pushing to squeeze onto the metro, I take a popular route but have never seen it anywhere near that bad.
@@ExpatNatt nice nice, loved watching your videos very chill vibes
@@grantchen2324thank you ❤
Hi Natt - a question I have been curious about but can't get a straight answer from Google or chatgtp that you might have the answer for in your wanderings : Is it possible to buy for child the stuffed animal friend of Tigger, Piglet and Eyore, or is this creature and his likeness banned in China?
Honestly I don’t know. I’ve never heard anything about him being banned. The young children I teach are familiar with Winnie the Pooh stories and Disney is huge here (I’m not sure if winne the Pooh is Disney) but I’m saying that I’ve never seen a winne the Pooh stuffed toy (maybe it’s too outdated for the kids today?) I’ll do some more research
I’ve just done a quick search on taobao (Chinas Amazon) and there are quite a few stuffed animals and merchandise for Winnie the Pooh so seems like it’s fine?
Is ChatGPT available in China - have you tried it and would it answer a question that the censors might not like? (or maybe everyone there is waiting for the Baidu equivalent to roll out, which by the way reportedly had a dismal first demo last week causing a 6pc Baidu share crash)
@@curreisland5115 I don’t really know what chatgtp is but I’m hearing it all the time over here so it must still be a thing here, although I’m not up to date with technological things like this 😅
Not being a Chatgtp user in 2023 is like asking people whats this Facebook thing in 2006
It is not adviceable to drink more than two cups of coffee a day.
I actually don’t drink coffee at all but instead I’ll have a water, or herbal tea (or juice on occasion).
Shenzhen is ten times better than Shanghai with less air and water pollution, why everyone from other countries prefers Shanghai only? 😅😅😅😅
I thinks there’s lots more the China than just Shanghai. For us, this is where family is and this is our home. The pollution here really isn’t bad at all, my whole time living here we’ve only had 2 days were outdoor activities were not recommended due to air pollution. Shanghai is convenient for many because the consulate is here 😅
@@ExpatNatt Just all foreigners all travel to Shanghai, it seems the city they only know Shanghai in China. 😅
Shenzhen does not have the advantage of Shanghai over time. A city without a sense of history is a bit boring. Also: the cold, straight and large format of Shenzhen's new city cannot be compared with the winding and warm small streets and small lanes in the old Shanghai area.
@@erfanyu902 I think main reason is that they connect Shanghai with China and travel to China just like traveling to a small country such as Laos so they go to Shanghai, take some photos then go to another country.
Hi, Natt! Great video! I really love your channel! May I have your email address so that I could send you a business inqury?
