The American equivalent saying would be, "get off their high horses". This is common in many develop economy. Hong Kong was/is like this for a long time so much so that for the decades, the city has been introducing labor from surrounding poorer countries. It is true in the North America as well.

I assume the young man did say not everyone can work in a building, presumably doing office work. I appreciate what I think is a growing phenomenon here in the US of young adults choosing trades over university educations, since various trades here have shortages of skilled workers and our workers can make a comfortable living working in such trades, at least for the foreseeable future. Perhaps no parallel to this phenomenon exists right now in China.

This is a very interesting topic. During the Gilded Age 1920s, I imagine many Americans were aspired to make quick money not through working in the factories and on farms. Then the Great Depression happened and the ensuing World War II brought US to the height of manufacturing and decades of prosperity...

Halfway watching the video and I don't see the answer to the question in the title but let me fill in. Many many foreign companies have left or are leaving China because anti-West Xenophobia that Xi Jin Ping government is cultivating among the Chinese people. The authoritarian government can detain people arbitrarily and charge with spying activity. There is really no rule of law. No wonder multi-national companies are moving out of China to other countries in South and South East Asia where there is more rule of law and the government is more welcoming to foreign companies and foreigners alike. China becomes a victim of its own authoritarian law and arbitrary detention.

As a chinese who currently lived in us, this vedio brought me back to my lovely hometown Shanghai😭 Talking about the high unemployment rate, many people will point out two factors. The first factor is that China is transitioning from labor-intensive to capital - and technology-intensive industries, but the latter absorb fewer jobs than the former. The second factor is that the current distribution system needs to be reformed, and young people at the bottom are afraid to marry because they lack money. Many people think the government should copy the Nordic welfare state and tax the rich heavily. All in all, I am glad to see that cyrus is promoting the exchanges between the two countries. As I have met a lot of super nice people since I came to the us, I also hope that more Americans can go to China to see what Chinese really look like.

Actually the Nordic countries tax the middle class heavily to fund their welfare programs. That's where the money is. It might be a good idea for China to do that also, but the first source of money for social programs ought to come from ending the massive stealing and wasting of money by the Xi Jinping regime.

China has many beautiful places and a lot of great infrastructure and beautifully designed and lighted buildings. In America environmentalists do not want anything but solar and wind and maybe some bike paths. Many great parks, infrastructure, and buildings were created in the last 100 years. Unfortunately, we are just sitting on our laurels trying to figure out where our country should go next. Drugs are killing off many who cannot seem to find a place to fit in. We are losing our work ethic as more and more are finding it easier to rely on the government.

Americans think that Chinese people hate them because of the usa’s containment policy and hateful rhetoric of her politicians but Chinese people have grown more mature than Americans do who are indoctrinated by their own media, prepared by their own government to go to war against China. What a shame! As the usa would have gained lots of respect in China if they are more cooperative, friendly and less immature than they are now.

I'm curious about what you mean about "the countryside which isn't there in Europe or the US."?
The US is filled outside of cities, full of amazing and varied countrysides!
Vast forested areas of wilderness, pastoral grassy plains with colorful wildflowers, and gentle rolling hills leading up to mountain ranges like the Rockies, which cover 3,000 miles across North America (from New Mexico to British Columbia are there for all to enjoy.
A sub-range of the Appalachian Mountains, the Great Smoky Mountains is another and is known for the fog hanging around the tops of the peaks, leading to the "smoky" effect which it is named after.
And then there is Grand Teton which encompasses 485 square miles of natural beauty.
Another is the Sierra Nevada mountain range, which is so vast that it has three national parks and each is full of both breathtaking and serene views, wildlife of all kinds, hiking, camping and other outdoor experiences.
Those are Yosemite National Park, Sequoia National Park, and Kings Canyon National Park.
These places are a few among many that offer both serene landscapes, and bubbling brooks, strong rivers and stunning waterfalls of all shapes and sizes.
Each of the 50 states has it's own special characteristics. Some have lush green hilly countrysides, dotted with family farms and homesteads, and others have deserts with amazing rock formations that you will find nowhere else in the world.
And with all the coastline, there is a vast difference between the variety of shorelines of the East and West coasts, not to mention the marshlands, river deltas and the Everglades.
That is just the "tip-of-the-iceberg", and it can probably never be fully explored in just one lifetime.
So I have no idea how you can say that the countryside isn't there in Europe or the US, as you can see plenty of it even here on UA-cam, and books and magazines.

Calling Shanghai "This is what China is really like" is worse than calling the Time Square "This is what the US is like." The gorgeous buildings that Cyrus referred to are WESTERN architecture. About 40% of China is still RURAL. While parts of the rural China can be amazingly beautiful, Chinese themselves view country folks as mostly the "low end people" (a term the Chinese created in their caste system where the Communist Party members are well taken care of, while the country folks and laborers are labelled the "low end people".) BTW, the Chinese cannot just become Shanghai residents. It's NOT that one could gain City residence status just by living in Shanghai.
