Unbelievable that you got busted. Sorry you had to pack up and couldn’t stay. Glad we don’t have those rules here. Glad they were understanding and better luck next time. Take care be safe and stay stealthy
They were actually quite friendly after they realized I was no poacher. In the office they told me that they gave me a break because they realized I love nature. I kept camp clean, I didn't break down anything, the little fire I made was a controlled fire and so on.

Great vid. Seems strange being arrested for camping if someone is being respectful and cleans up when they're done. Here in the U.S., people are camping all over major city streets and even near me, in my small town, many are living in the woods behind the local Target store. Stay safe!
Thanks a lot Charlie for watching and the nice comment. If you like this, hope you also like some others of mine. In this video I camped in a public park (even though I thought I was outside the border of the park, it was still part of it). In that park there are no people allowed between sunset and sunrise. eThat was the main reason why they searched for me so thoroughly. When they realised I was very careful and clean with nature, they were more friendly. We also have homeless people in Belgium, but less than in th US and they mostly live in bigger cities or in abandoned building. Not very often in bushes or woods.
Drew, it wasn't that what alarmed the forest police. That was actually no problem. The fire was below a little hill and the lighting was a short time for the video. They caught me when I turned on the Sunblesa headlamp when I was crawling into my hammock. You are right, I plan like a Beun too. But hey, that's me 😋 The nickname "beunhaas" wasn't given to me coincidentally. Look up it's meaning, you'll figure it out
This was great Beun. Imagine if you were doing a collab at that time and they find one and the other continues filming from the bushes undetected ... Also a great reminder that a red light does give away your position. I don't think you would have gotten away without a fine in the Netherlands. I propose to stick to the Belgian side of the border ;)
I'll keep that in mind for our Belgium - Netherlands collaboration,so you know what side I will sleep. But if we get detected there, we can easily jump the border to the other country so the police can't arrest us. 😋
@@oldirtybeuner Now that would be epic. Jump the border. But there are a lot of borders to jump there .. and if you jump too far, you might jump two borders and be back in the same country ...
Nice, I just did my first stealth camp last night and got the video work all done this morning. I wonder how they knew you were out there. I took my wolf with me and camped right next to a very busy road.
Thanks for subbing and dropping a comment. I will definitely take a look at your videos. They found me due to my headtorch. People aren't allowed in that park after sunset and they came directly to my spot when I was installing my camera for a time-lapse and using my headlamp. I didn't know myself people weren't allowed at that time or I would have taken more precautions. Anyway, after all it was a special experience. 😉
I really wanted to show and share the experience I had. I was the most nervous when I filmed in the office with the hidden camera. Glad I could recover lot of footage that they deleted after confiscating my cameras. Now I just have to hope they don't watch this video. 😋
I have stealth camped in 15 country's this year, I have never lit a fire, ... I cook food just before it goes dark, and only put up tent as it's getting dark. A fire even a torch, is a bad idea. Best wishes
Hi Tony, I know this didn't really went according to the books. I was still learning to do the combination of stealthcamping and filming. That changes the planning and executing a lot because you need light (daylight or artificial light) when filming. I did finish without much issues. Even had a longer nice talk with the forestiers. Thanks for watching and dropping a comment. Hope to see you around. Do you have videos of your adventures?
They saw my location when I was already finished cooking. But they found me by the headtorch I used for about 2 minutes trying to install myself for bedtime. I couldn't see anything crawling into my hammock and they went straight to my light. I guess they might ha e used nightcameras or something. There is now an inside joke with the friends of the #stealthcampingalliance, where we laugh with the Sunblesa headlamps, because I was send that headlamp for a product review and the first time I tried those, I got arrested. 😂 The policemen said they thought I was a poacher. They even asked me to put my arms in the air, like a real criminal. But they were afraid I was armed. Crazy experience, but I'm glad I have some parts filmed to share here.
I had to use all the trick up my sleeve to be a bit less boring, I might even gone a bit too far. But don't worry, there will be plenty more videos of me to come. 😋
Glad I'm charming, even cops can't resist. 😀 Just joking, I'm lucky. Some tips helped like keep your camp tidy, if you use fire, do it controlled and not when it is dry, never discuss with the cops and ask them questions like " I made a misjudgment camping here, but do you know where I can camp quietly in nature"? Those were just some trics I used and even helped me for future plans.
Holy shit! Glad they weren't rough on you over it. Around here, the cops might just shoot you and, even if you live to just get arrested, they'll either leave all your stuff there or throw it in the trash. No way you get to pick it up yourself because they'll put you in the back of the police car and take you to the jail. Last time I was stealth camping, I thought I was going to get arrested too. It was the middle of the day but I have built a little fort in the woods where I'm not supposed to build one and I had a fire going at the time too. I heard the helicopter coming and so I looked on my phone to see what sort of helicopter it was since we get a lot of medical ones around here but, no, it was the police. They headed straight for my spot and began circling. I crawled up under one of the trees at my fort, scrunched my body up to look smaller and hid my hands just in case they had a thermal camera looking around, then I held as still as I could. They kept circling and circling. Eventually, they said over the loud speaker, "Don't grab the rifle." I looked around and wondered which branches I had cut they were mistaking for rifle because, although I had various things for building my fort that they would consider weapons, I don't even own a rifle. I stayed perfectly still up under the tree. Then they said, "Walk towards the train tracks." I wasn't sure whether I should just walk towards the train tracks or assume they still hadn't seen me and stay hidden so I decided to stay where I was and continue sitting still. Finally, they said, "Put your hands on your head and walk backwards towards the police officers," and that's when I knew they weren't talking to me because they could clearly see whoever they were talking to and I assume that person got arrested for something. It's odd because I had heard people shooting in the hills across the train tracks and the road from me on other days but nothing on that day, plus that's private property and we're allowed to have guns here so it doesn't make sense to get arrested for that. Anyway, that scared the hell out of me but I'm also kind of glad that the police flew right over where I was and were clearly looking for a person but didn't see me or my fort so I must have actually make it look like its surroundings.
What a crazy experience that must have been!😱 I am glad they were friendly here. Although in the part between where they found me and when they gathered around my camp they were also scared themselves and shouted hands up very loud and stressful. They were stressed because they thought I was a poacher at first, so that I was also armed. When they saw I was a camper they calmed down. We have very strick gun laws, so they felt calm and safer quickly. They only gave my stuff back after they saw my footage. I had old videos of my cleanup actions where I collect litter in bushes and they saw I didn't pollute, had a controlled little fire and I didn't even cut down a twig. I had a nice talk with them at their office. We actually had simular interests in nature. Glad you out of your experience unharmed and thanks for sharing that amazing story. Hope you enjoyed the video
I'm glad I could illuminate the otherwise cloudy Schotland. 😋 It was not that light that caught their attention. That was too obvious for them. I know I'm lazy (I'm a Beun) but I have too much fun doing these stealthcamps. I like some risk too and getting caught is a part of it. I paid the cost to be the Beun. 🤘
Awesome as always, Beun. Yikes 😬 😳 oh my! Thank goodness you didn't get a fine. Sorry it took so long for me to comment, i thought I already commented on the video when I watched it a few months ago 😅 oops. I thought I did sorry😬😳 KEEP ADVENTURING
Yeah, you seemed somewhat exposed there for a stealth camp, particularly with that big-ass stove that no doubt stunk the place up too - you might have got away with it if you put up some camo netting, but it looks like those guys were onto you anyway because of the stove - I’m glad they were lenient with you
Thanks for watching and leaving a comment. The footage didn't show the area very well, but where I put up camp was in a bowl like shape. The whole outside of that bush was up a hill, but after the first bushes it went down. The stove nor the food was a problem. They didn't notice that when I was cooking. It was mote then a hour later, when I was about to go inside my hammock that I caught their attention. I used a headlamp to see while crawling inside the hammock and they saw the light from a distance. That's what they told me. No people were allowed after sunset, so no lights are allowed as well. When they noticed the lights they used their thermo binoculars so there was no use in hide or a camonet. The thermo binoculars they use for controlling the wild boar population. Considered afterwards the spot was too difficult (because of the forrest police and their tools and their strict control of the area) and the timing when I used my headlamp to go inside the hammock. But at the end they were friendly enough to let me go and we even had a good talk. But they will not be if I would go there again, so that's a no go.
They didn't see my fire. That was even behind a hill, so they couldn't see it. They caught me much later, just before I went to bed. I needed my headlamp to get into my hammock and they saw that. Less than a minute was enough. It was bad luck I guess.
Hi Ben, thanks for subscribing and leaving this awesome comment. Wow, I didn't know this video was recommended, let alone after the great Steve Wallis himself! ❤️ Cheers, Beun
Steps by Kaatje doet ook stealthcamps in België. Veel anderen zie je idd niet. Veel leuke plekjes in de Ardennen idd. Maar evengoed dicht bij huis zijn er veel leuke plekken te vinden.
Those were specific forrest police for this public domain in Belgium and they first thought I was a poacher. When they realized I was not, they were actually friendly. But I didn't harm anything or anyone camping there, so I also don't understand the rule that no one is allowed between sunset and sunrise. I guess other shady stuff would happen there instead of camping.
We don't hide the fact that Steve is the inspiration to many of us. I can speak for myself and I am glad he inspired me to go out and do this. We even dedicated a challenge to him and gave him praise and a respectable shoutout (watch my weird border video). He knows many of us and is also very keen of the #stealthcampingalliance. The term knock offs is a bit bluntly since each member of the SCA has his/her own character and style. I see it more as a supplement. If you like my personal style of videos, you are always welcome to stick around my channels and tell me what you think of my videos.
I do like your channel very much. Why else would I have ever seen your channel? Yes, I will love to continue to watch your channel. just still in a mood about what happened with Steve. I guess I did go off a bit hard. :( @@oldirtybeuner
@melodymcminn4107 I appreciate your comment and you didn't say anything wrong. We can't mention Steve Wallis enough, can we? 😉 He got it hard this last year, but also the way he deals with that is an inspiration. And thanks for sticking around. Next week is challenge weekend again. I got a new video coming too. Hope you have fun watching it.
That place was part of a Parc with the rule no people allowed between sunset en sunrise. I didn't know that. I was careful but used my headtorch when I installed myself for bed. They saw the red light from far and came looking. They said they thought I was a poacher. If I used the torch a few minutes earlier or later, I would have slept and finished the camp. But then it wasn't such an exciting video. 😋
Awesome mate if you don't know who Ned Kelly is Google him here in Australia we say stuff the Government be like Ned Kelly this is the first person we have ever seen caught don't let it stop you legendary I love how they always use excuses of we are trying to help you water wild pigs all that to Justify shit laws 😜
I don't always pay attention to what I'm doing, so it doens't surprise me I'm the first one you've seen being caught. But That's a part of high risk stealtcamping. 😋 The forest police acted like their job, but in the end they were nice. I even had a chat with them off camera. But they took my camera's and deleted my footage. Gladly I found a way to retrieve the deleted footage. Before this video I didn't knew that was possible. So as long as they don't confiscate my camera's permanently, I don't really care. :-)
You really paid all those police to "bust" you just so you can win the challenge? Wow! lmao loved it man, the real water challenge was probably you peeing your pants! XD better luck next time though, thanks for sharing.
They took my cameras and deleted the footage from outdoors. But I managed to recover bits and pieces from my sd card. I have conversation on it what I subtitles, but I changed their voices. We had a chat for like 15 minutes in the office, which I cut down to a minute or so. They were friendly at the end, but were scared at first too, screaming to put my hands in the air and pointing weapons at me. They thought I was a poacher before they saw my hammock. Crazy stuff to experience and glad I could recover my footage and share an interesting video.
I find it ironic that after being caught, you still deemed it appropriate to use the word "Stealthcamping" in the title. It's king of one of those huge details, so massive, yet still needs to be explained. The very fact you were caught means there was not the slightest bit of " Stealth " in your camp. I suppose though you could have still used " Stealthcamping " in the title if you had preceded it with the word " Crap at "...... Just a thought.
I'm glad that I'm not someone who takes himself too seriously. Like having crappy thoughts and still feel the need to share them in comments. Glad we share the not too serious attitude. Why should we spoil the fun, right? 👍
The crazy thing is they didn't see the fire I had. The spot where I was in, was in a bowl shape. They've spotted me when a used my headtorch for just one minute when I crawled into my hammock because I couldn't see anything.
@oldirtybeuner Yea everything you did looked really good from here with your choice of spots.... good cover down in that bowl our headlamps nowadays are pretty bright your right they drove right the F to ya , it's all a big learning curve I guess? good luck on the next one my girlfriend and I do what you do quite often I live on the West Coast of the United States we like to prospect for Gold and alot of our old go to Spots have been locked up by big timber corporations so we've resorted to Stealth camping and we have run thru the nite before getting away from those Fools here they are getting better at useing the drones and live feed Game Cams I always back my tent up against a wall of some sort so you've gotta approach it from one way because of Bears and cougars and Forest Cops but always work it out so there's an escape route 😀 love your content Brother keep it up !
Hi, thanks my friend. I got lucky I got out there without big problems. I still have the hat, but I think I threw my dishes with my garbage in a trashcan. So I have to go back to Decathlon for a pan and spoon
Thanks for watching and taking your time to leave a comment! In Sweden you can also wildcamp where you like. France also is less strict, but in Belgium it is more difficult. But that doesn't hold me back. I respect some basic rules like leave no trace, don't tresspass on private property unless it is abandoned, etc.
You need to know the rules to conduct yourself with respect and within the laws where ever you go, especially when your a guest in a country your visiting. You shame yourslef and the country you are from doing such without doing your camping within regulations. Stop the videos unless you can do with in regulations. In the U S there are regulations also, and our police do not enforce the rules. I think enforceing the rules is the best way.
I understand your comment from your point of view. But you must know that not the whole world thinks the way you or the US thinks. Countries and cultures are different. In Belgium for example there is a general saying that rules are there to be bend. There are more loopholes in Belgian laws or rules than there are laws or rules, if you get what I mean. Especially for these less important rules like where to camp etc. Even the police that arrested me acknowledged that there was no real problem and let me go without a fine. I didn't trespass private property and I left no trace (no garbage, didn't brake anything...) Last but not least, I don't feel shame. Shame for me is a handicap that would only hold me back. That too is part of the concept of Beun, as you can read in the description of my channel. I want to have fun without harming anybody or the environment.

@@oldirtybeuner Thank you my friend. Belgium looks like a beautiful place!
Stealth camping is get in before night.no fires and no lights make no sound
Well, in that case I'm a beuncamper
Leave no trace 😂. You had a rather noticeable fire. You had more lights a football stadium. Better planning in future don't you think 😂😂😂😂
Oh, the suspense and intrigue! Best bust ever! 🚨🚔
Wow. That was intense. Was on edge of seat. Bonus points for filming in the police station.
I'm guessing they saw the fire? Seems like they knew exactly where to go.
The policemen said they thought I was a poacher. They even asked me to put my arms in the air, like a real criminal. But they were afraid I was armed.
Crazy experience, but I'm glad I have some parts filmed to share here.
top video m8, and not at all boring .
I had to use all the trick up my sleeve to be a bit less boring, I might even gone a bit too far. But don't worry, there will be plenty more videos of me to come. 😋
Nice work you legend awesome 😎 video
The title is very intriguing, new sub here will watch this later tonight
Thanks for the sub Middy! ❤
I hope you like the adventures I have shared.
Really glad you didn’t get a fine. That was exciting
Glad I'm charming, even cops can't resist. 😀
Just joking, I'm lucky.
@@oldirtybeuner 👍
You’re a legend
Thanks a lot Cathy. I just attract crazy stuff. Like a Beun as we say here. 😋
that was a cool vid man
Thanks my friend. I just watched your camp in the pouring rain. That reallyfell into the water.
But I love how you do the narrative. Keep it up!
@@oldirtybeuner,,, thanks again Camp Like a Beun.. and i will do . I'm trying for one video a week.. its a challenge
What a crazy experience that must have been!😱
I am glad they were friendly here.
I use hilleberg tents. I beelive that the military version of their tunnel tents block light so you wont be spotted.
That's great advice! 👍
Wow! The suspense! Great video, but you know we're gonna keep stealth camping. But you've done your best to warn us. 😊
Glad you liked it. Now I am the first to get arrested, nobody else has to try that again. 😋
Beun I saw your camp lights all the way in Scotland.. 💡 😮
I'm glad I could illuminate the otherwise cloudy Schotland. 😋
It was not that light that caught their attention. That was too obvious for them.
I know I'm lazy (I'm a Beun) but I have too much fun doing these stealthcamps. I like some risk too and getting caught is a part of it. I paid the cost to be the Beun. 🤘
good job!
Awesome as always, Beun. Yikes 😬 😳 oh my! Thank goodness you didn't get a fine.
Sorry it took so long for me to comment, i thought I already commented on the video when I watched it a few months ago 😅 oops.
I thought I did sorry😬😳
KEEP ADVENTURING
No problem Megasusanc, it is great you came back to the video and took some time to leave a comment. Cheers!
Beun stealthy mcstealthy, not. But nice content. Thanks for the adventure.🌲🐖👍
Glad you liked it and that I could make something out of it, even if I didn't finish it until the morning.
@@oldirtybeuner Ah! I thought it was the stove that got you! I don’t know if there would have been any way around the light…
Yeah the first rule of stealth camping is no fires stay safe 😊
They didn't see my fire. That was even behind a hill, so they couldn't see it.
They caught me much later, just before I went to bed. I needed my headlamp to get into my hammock and they saw that. Less than a minute was enough. It was bad luck I guess.
Yeah and using that bright flashlight probably didn't help
@seahawker4life952 I could be a perfect commercial video for the sunblesa headlamps, if you are not a stealthcamper. 😋
So the pigs were friendly. (Only joking Officers)

Hi Ben, thanks for subscribing and leaving this awesome comment.
Wow, I didn't know this video was recommended, let alone after the great Steve Wallis himself! ❤️
Cheers, Beun
Steps by Kaatje doet ook stealthcamps in België.
Boring? Far from it. At least you didn't the challenge. Beun is the winner. That bridge was awesome. Could've Beun much worse. ✌😡
Busted! 🤪
Have the police got nothing better to do with their time.
Just a one to one copy of steve wallis his video's. 😁😁😁
But Steve Wallis does not get caught, and has his step two 2. 😂😂
Thanks for the compliment and taking your time to leave a comment. I'm glad I could make you smile several times.
You know these are all knock offs from Camping With Steve Wallis. This is great but Steve is the original .
He got it hard this last year, but also the way he deals with that is an inspiration.
And thanks for sticking around. Next week is challenge weekend again. I got a new video coming too. Hope you have fun watching it.
Sped cops moment.
Probably used a thermal imaging or night vision camera on a drone.
Not sure of the drone (I haven't heard a drone) but probably a handheld thermal camera.
How did they know you were there and find you?
The forest police acted like their job, but in the end they were nice. I even had a chat with them off camera. But they took my camera's and deleted my footage. Gladly I found a way to retrieve the deleted footage. Before this video I didn't knew that was possible. So as long as they don't confiscate my camera's permanently, I don't really care. :-)
@@oldirtybeuner go hard mate1 awesome to see
You really paid all those police to "bust" you just so you can win the challenge? Wow! lmao loved it man, the real water challenge was probably you peeing your pants! XD better luck next time though, thanks for sharing.
You know I am very committed in everything I do. 😋🤘
Should of recorded what they said 👍
They took my cameras and deleted the footage from outdoors.
ET vibes. 13:24
And you said there were no pigs in your area
🤣🤣🤣
I didn't think of that kind😋
Thats why i like propane ! Low lite ....
The crazy thing is they didn't see the fire I had. The spot where I was in, was in a bowl shape.
They've spotted me when a used my headtorch for just one minute when I crawled into my hammock because I couldn't see anything.
@oldirtybeuner Yea everything you did looked really good from here with your choice of spots.... good cover down in that bowl our headlamps nowadays are pretty bright your right they drove right the F to ya , it's all a big learning curve I guess? good luck on the next one my girlfriend and I do what you do quite often I live on the West Coast of the United States we like to prospect for Gold and alot of our old go to Spots have been locked up by big timber corporations so we've resorted to Stealth camping and we have run thru the nite before getting away from those Fools here they are getting better at useing the drones and live feed Game Cams I always back my tent up against a wall of some sort so you've gotta approach it from one way because of Bears and cougars and Forest Cops but always work it out so there's an escape route 😀 love your content Brother keep it up !

shame you don't have any freedoms in Europe. In Scotland we can camp where ever we want
I didn't trespass private property and I left no trace (no garbage, didn't brake anything...)
Last but not least, I don't feel shame. Shame for me is a handicap that would only hold me back. That too is part of the concept of Beun, as you can read in the description of my channel. I want to have fun without harming anybody or the environment.
