It may have been a shape shifting deer, (quite common on british you tube wild camping channels) because when he says "there's a massive deer over there", at 25:47 he looks in about 4 different places! It's just disappointing it's so obvious, you'd think a professional youtuber could do better!

Yeah, I find it hard to believe as well because there’s no sound from the deer running and also most the time they make a high pitch noise when they go in for an attack also you was lying down so it’s a bit strange how we didn’t see anything even though it hit your side doesn’t make sense is definitely would’ve came into view of the camera if this was the case and also Deers are afraid of humans and are most likely to run away very rare they attack unless you corner it or close to it young so I call bs on this

This is everything I have come to hate about UA-cam. Pure fake click bait. I've been wild camping for about 20 years now and can say I've never been attacked by a deer one week, had a spooky encounter the next, someone walking about outside my tent the next then a run in with and angry farmer the next. It's pretty embarrassing what lengths some will go to for a few views. This one just takes the piss.
Have to agree I'm afraid. I'm new to this channel and have only seen three videos. All three were all about some scarey drama going on. Ghost in the middle of the night, being attacked, windows broken, so scarey. Yeah, whatever🙄
My absolute favourite camping channel is a wonderful pommie guy, his channel is Kentsurvival. (Think that's it). He's the real deal. Really lovely down to earth bloke and fabulous videos☺️🌟

I came across this because many other UA-camrs are saying how fake it is. I tend to agree with the comments, no noise whatsoever no noise of it butting him or running off no grunting or heavy breathing and the mike was right next to him. I know he said that kids were throwing stones but it's pitch black so they couldn't even see a stone let alone throw one. If there was a deer looking at him then the very first thing a Youtber would do is film it. Also when a deer charges it doesn't head butt you once and run off they try and have another go because they are not scared of you in the first place. Same with a goat or a ram they just keep going and don't run off and you would have 100% heard it as they are the size of a small horse galloping. So sorry but all the evidence points to it being a fake and he should see that himself. If someone else had done this I guarantee he would be saying it's fake as there is no proof whatsoever. He's now doing a hotel review on another channel which doesn't seem fake but he better lock his door in case an old woman charges and head butts him. My honest opinion is fake and it gives other camping videos a bad name and it's a shame that he had to do this just for views which has worked but for the wrong reason.

Mate, there are so many camping channels out there, and the only reason I watch this at all is that you are a genuine bloke, just doing his thing in the woods. I really want to believe what you posted was true, but I believe it's fake. Your best move would be to own up to it and move on. If it did happen to be real then many of us should apologise, but you have to see why we're not buying it, surely...

JohnLoogle. Sorry but have to comment about your post. If you have watched Dan as you said you have I am sure you realise there is nothing to be gained by him by lying about this incident. You are entitled to your opinion but I really do feel it is misplaced here. Sadly there is no footage to prove he was injured by a deer and I can see why you would be sceptical....If Dan was lying he would put in jeopardy not only his reputation but also his channel and the fact he has 66,000 subs that would be a huge mistake. Why would he even think about putting years of work in developing his channel at risk. I dont know Dan personally but none of this smells like it is the sort of thing he would do...except maybe as an April Fool!
As a covet, if you are right it would be curtains for Dans channel and sad day for the wildcamping community.

If a deer is charging at you, would you give a running commentary for a camera or be more concerned with the need to get out of the way?
I like you want to believe it's true as I enjoy Dan's channel, and he's put lots of great stuff out there. Unfortunately nothing about this video suggests to me that he was attacked by a deer.
He also made a rapid recovery posting a video a few days later with no further mention of the deer attack.
Too much doesn't add up. Love your optimism though.

Well if you're in that much distress you should have called for help instead of continuing with filming and then you have the nerve to say I don't need comments about this or that but I think you staged this whole thing because if that deer was that big we would have seen some part of the deer on your camera it looks like you pushed yourself over (bad acting) but I guess the drama of it all will get ya more views!

I liked the cheesy jokes! I recently broke my arm because I got my foot stuck in the garbage can...I was pushing down the garbage with my foot...I fell over and "bam" broke my distal radius in 4 pieces. One metal plate and 7 screws later, my kids and friends still tease me. Lol. I just wish I had it in video! Then I could really laugh at myself. It's not even a cool story like, "I got attacked by a deer." Nope, for me, I was just clumsy. I sure hope you are feeling better. After the pain fades, you will laugh at this whole ordeal.

I've sat on the grass feeding deer at Bushy park just after rutting season and a huge stage took some sliced apple out of my hand then sat down infront of me wanting more. He had cuts all over him and stunk. But with you there was no grunts of warning or barking pathetic!

Actually deer DO attack people on a regular enough basis that there's 1000s of UA-cam videos of such attacks that you could have searched for. In fact a farmer in Auss was gored to death by a beloved pet stag he had raised from a fawn a few years ago during rutting season.
I'm inclined to think you probably have been attacked, and suffered significant brain damage, causing amnesia and your single digit IQ UA-cam comments.

I solo too, and it's easy to think that we're pretty safe here in the UK, no bears, wolves, big cats, but this should be a reminder to us all that soloing still has some risks and there are always the two legged ones that ruin it. I think you did the right thing, I thought it was going to be the kids who did it. Speedy recovery. Wish you the best. I grew up around there, I remember when it was all a reservoir. We called those hills The Pyramids haha. I would not like to spend the night up there though!
A few years ago my tent got absolutely leathered from a deer while i was inside. It was absolute carnage and it got all fucked up 😂😂

I think it is fair to say that opinion is divided on this one. Was it an unusual occurrence in nature or a sham? I am not sure, but I think Dan needs to tell the full story to his (hitherto) loyal subscribers. So Dan, if you did get clobbered by a deer and went to A&E, what was the damage done? If it was a sham,, it might be time to “ fess up” to a big mistake.
Obviously a completely fabricated incident. Sad really that Dan has stooped this low especially when his channel was doing okay!

I've had cracked ribs a couple of times and found the worst thing about cracked ribs is any laughing during the healing process hurts even worst, so as hard as it may be try not to laugh for a few weeks. Lovely guy and great channel but I'm sorry. I can't help but feel that this has been staged. All of my experience of Deer in the wild tells me that this is extremely unlikely. I have Deer herds all around where I live and you can't even get close to them, let alone be attacked!
I got attacked once in some woods. I startled it and there wasn’t a lot of room to manoeuvre so it just ran at me. I was lucky I got out the way. It was just panicking not attacking me as such. It can happen. they’re fast too. Not sure who got the biggest fright 😂😂

You have never seen that viral video of a mother deer stomping out a dog? That's why you should never approach or pet baby deer. Also, hunters warn during rut season that males can charge at you.

omg Tiss rutting season and they can get nasty. The trouble is if there is long grass you don't hear them until they are on you, and they don't always grunt.

I hope your okay Dan, but i gotta be honest if i was that badly hurt with the possibility of a punctured lung or internal bleeding id have been straight off to the hospital, i wouldnt go home edit a video, create a thumbnail, upload the vid, then wait for comments to let people know im going for a xray 🤷♂️🤷♂️

That’s the one thing here you have to be careful of. The reindeer tend to be ok but the moose, they just trample you if they are upset. I often build up branches around me (yes I’m a bit paranoid!) to keep things away and if they do want to come close the breaking sticks will wake me up.

Have a question about a friend of mine from years ago who use to go metal detecting aftershock hours in the early hours without permission. And occasionally he would stumble across “White witches” dancing around the fire naked and so on.

If this was a genuine attack then i hope you wasn't to badly injured and recovered fast, however i can see why people are doubting it as there was no noise of another person or animal charging towards you no noises from the deer as they do grunt, also afterwards when you show your bag no evidence of marks on or around your bag were you was hit , thought there would be something to show from hooves or antlers scraping or tearing up materials and all you done was rub the area why did you not show a mark or at least look for your own curiosity to see damage, this is just a few things that red flag it for me but as i said if it was genuine then i hope you got treated and are all good.
Like I have said to many others I can't record every single angle, light, sounds, I am just one man and his phone, I'm not a movie maker
